try sleeping during a tornado watch...

i think i got close to 4 hours last night. probably a little over 3 is more likely, but i did feel like i got some sleep when i got up this morning. i got up right before the thunderstorms were going to pound us. the tornado watch has expired but we now have a high wind advisory until tomorrow morning.

the Dayton Flyers pissed away a lead late last night and lost against St. Joe's in overtime, 73-68. that means Dayton will once again miss the NCAA tournament. but, i'm guessing they will get an invite to the NIT, which i wish they would turn down as that should be beneath at this point.

Smackdown was excellent last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

a big thank you to everyone that checked out my latest published poems:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Collision.

i'm sure i will watch some soccer, college basketball and some hockey today.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Columbus. this is pretty much a MUST WIN game for the Rangers.

i will probably be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays.

i did watch Bill Burr's new comedy special yesterday on HULU. Drop Dead Years was fucking hilarious. i highly recommend it.

until tomorrow kids...

not how i wanted to start the day...

first off, Happy Memorial Day to everyone.

i woke up in pain at 5 this morning. joy. i put on some CBD oil, hoping it would help me get some more sleep. eventually, along with some ice, i got a couple more hours out in my massage chair. that's the only place in the house where i can sleep on my back. when i'm in bed, i'm always on my side. that should paint the picture of how bad my back actually is. good times.

the New York Yankees were down 7-1 yesterday at the Royals. they fought back to make it 7-7 but eventually lost 8-7 in 10 innings. oh well, they were due for a stinker. they start a series at home this afternoon against San Diego.

the Indy 500 had a great finish yesterday.

i did watch some of the NASCAR race last night.

Finland defeated Canada yesterday, 3-1, to win the gold medal at the World Hockey Championships.

Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

Billions was very good last night.

The Chi was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final starts tonight. i will watch some of that as well.

in my only Memorial Day tradition any more, i'll be watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse national championship this afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Sunday. hopefully, your holiday Monday is a good one.

that's all for me kids. i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to see her financial planner south of town. if all goes well, we will be eating a late lunch down there as well.

hoping for a lazy Sunday...

i got some sleep last night, at least that's what i am going to call it. i went to bed after drinking some Jack Daniels and listening to LCD Soundsystem. i figured the emails could wait until the morning, all 147 of them.

the New York Yankees won both games of the doubleheader yesterday against the Royals, 7-3, 6-5. hopefully, they will sweep the series this afternoon.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

i did watch the AEW pre-show last night and saw some of the highlights from Double or Nothing. i loved what i saw. it strengthens my hope that AEW will be a great alternative to WWE. and having a nice shock ending doesn't hurt.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Our Cartoon President, Billions and The Chi.

i will probably watch a good portion of the Indy 500 and the NASCAR race tonight as well.

Canada plays Finland this afternoon in the Gold Medal game of the Hockey World Championships. Russia won the bronze this morning over the Czech Republic.

20 years ago today was one of the greatest days of my life as a Manchester United fan.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully, your Sunday will be even better.

i have no clue when i will be on here on Memorial Day. i'm shooting for before the Yankees play on Monday afternoon.

my brain woke up on fire...

i got up at 7 this morning. 5 hours of sleep. that's pretty much as good as it gets for me. the word on my lips as i woke up was proletariat. i started laughing, figuring my brain was up for 45 minutes or so, brainstorming about god knows what. i just finished typing up the poem that came out of that mess. i like it. hopefully, there will be more to come.

the New York Yankees were rained out last night in Kansas City. they will play a day night doubleheader today. hopefully, they will win both games.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men was excellent last night. the final part of the documentary is next week.

Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas was great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i do plan on watching some of Game 6 between Milwaukee and Toronto tonight in the NBA playoffs. i'll be stunned if the Raptors don't finish it off tonight.

i will probably also watch the free part of AEW's first show tonight on YouTube. i'd love to get the whole show, but $50 is a little too high for my poor ass.

other than that, i'm hoping it will be a pain free day for the most part. i know that's highly unlikely, but i'd like to think i can still dream at my age.

i did watch a little of the first semifinal in the World Hockey Championships this morning. Finland defeated Russia 1-0. Canada plays the Czech Republic this afternoon in the other semifinal.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

a taste of summer

how i wish that title meant something else than it was hot as shit today. i drove past a sign on my way to Menards that said it was 93 today. hello summer.

i got most of what i wanted to get while at Menards. some funky solar lights that are purple, mom's favorite color. they had most of the birdseed i wanted at a good price. i found a new rain gauge that can double as lawn art, so that's always a good sign of sophisticated white trash. mom was happy that i kept it under $100.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. for a change, the show kept me interested for all 3 hours.

Gotham was really damn good last night.

The Voice was spectacular last night. i have no clue who is going to be in the Final 4, but if it is any of these people, i'm good...

i did check out the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts podcast today. you can find that by going here:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice, Smackdown and Deadliest Catch. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i got some great FREE music on Bandcamp today. i'll be sure to include the link below in the music section.

team USA beat Russia today 5-3 to win Group A at the 2017 Ice Hockey World Championships. Kevin Hayes scored 2 goals in the victory.

the New York Yankees start a series tonight on the road against the Royals. hopefully they can get back to winning.

the trash is all picked up and i've just got some dishes to do before i can finally rest for the rest of the day.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her doctor's appointment and after Manchester United plays another meaningless game.

hello apathy, i remember you

so just as i was getting ready to get in bed last night, the news hits about that flight from Paris to Cairo. now, i'm a sucker for breaking news. i'm one of these assholes that wants to know what's going on at all times. so i was up until probably 2 in the morning or so, basically until my eyes couldn't stay open any longer. 4 hours of sleep, rinse and repeat. i was hoping to get some poetry work done but no... watching the news and sitting here at the computer, immersed in apathy. good times.

i think i'm going to take a shower after i get done writing this. maybe some cold or extremely hot water will jolt the system back into something other than its current state.

the New York Yankees actually won last night, 4-2. thank god. they start a 4 game series in Oakland tonight. joy, more west coast baseball.

Lucha Underground was really good last night.

NXT was excellent last night. anytime i get to watch Nakamura wrestle, i'm a happy man. plus, they showed the footage from a brawl between Balor and Samoa Joe that will mean the next chapter of their feud will be in a steel cage. that's a first for NXT.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Smackdown and Lip Sync Battle.

i think mom finally took the car to get the check engine light checked on. i guess the dumb fucks forgot to put back a hose when they changed her air filter 2 weeks ago. she wasn't very happy.

i saw that team USA advanced to the semi-finals of the Hockey World Championships today with a shootout win over Czech Republic. i might have to have a drink for that one.

today's been one of those days where you get a song stuck in your head and you can't escape it to save your life. you'll see what my brain was chewing on all day long in the music section.

i'll have to keep my eye out for some packages being delivered to the house the next couple of days. what i ordered mom for her birthday should be coming soon. that saves me from having to do some last minute shit in June.

that's all for me today kids. i think i'm going to go take a nap in the shower. good times.

a wasted Saturday night

before i get a little pissy in my review of the Rangers game last night, let me pat myself on the back for a second. this blog has now passed 1,000 posts and 20,000 views. not too shabby considering i had no fucking clue what i was doing when i started this. THANKS to everyone who has helped along the way. hopefully this blog will continue to get better and bigger in the future.

now, on to the fucking horror show in Columbus last night. the game was a sell out. the crowd was intensely into the game. i might have enjoyed them if the Rangers weren't playing like shit. they started off flat with no fucking jump at all. needless to say, the 5-2 loss was exactly what they fucking deserved. the only thing i liked about last night was when i was waiting in line for a urinal to open up. every fucker in there saw i was wearing a New York Rangers shirt. every drunk fucker wanted to say something but all of them, and i do mean ALL of them literally bit their fucking tongues and didn't say a word. one of the few joys i have left in life is my ability to intimidate people without saying a fucking word.

the Rangers play their home opener tonight against Toronto. hopefully they know the effort will have to be about 100000000000000000000000% greater tonight. i'll try to watch as much of the game as i can.

we have two more hockey games up in Columbus later on this week. against Dallas on Tuesday and Calgary on Friday night. i guess i'll get some practice with night driving. and hopefully i will enjoy these games more since i'll have no dog in the fight.

looks like i missed an incredible Saturday for college football. figures.

i did catch some of Saturday Night Live this morning on YouTube. i did laugh really hard at a few of the bits. looks like Bill Hader did a great job as host.

we did get home in time last night to catch ROH. helps that i only look at the speed limit in this state as a suggestion, not a law. ROH was excellent, as usual. i enjoyed the rumble match. and i'm happy they finally showed Jay Briscoe winning the title from Elgin.

my buddy Paul is coming over in a little bit to watch some football. after my sleepless night and truly needing to get some aggression out; i hope today is a hard hitting mess. plus, it would help if my fantasy team did well.

i didn't get the guy i wanted in fantasy hockey. that was how i started off my morning. good times.

i have trash to pick up and cats to feed. so i'll try to sum this shit up quickly.

i'll hopefully get to watch Boardwalk Empire, Total Divas, Homeland, and The Affair tonight. not sure if i will make it through all of them without a nap this afternoon. that won't be happening though.

i might post some of the pictures from last night later on in the week. but, given that they lost, don't count on it.

hope everyone had a better Saturday than me. and hopefully, your Sunday will be good as well. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i suppose i'll sleep when i'm dead

i got back home last night after the hockey game and a nightcap at Waffle House before midnight. i then mapped out a way to see all the Sunday night shows i usually watch. like a dumb ass, i watched all of them and got to bed a little before 6 this morning. and sure enough, a few minutes before 9, i was up and going. i have tried to take a nap this afternoon. needless to say i'm going to crash big time at some point this evening. of course, maybe i won't.

the Yankees won yesterday 5-2. i didn't watch any of the game, only some highlights. i was happy to see Tanaka pitch without any further injury concerns. maybe he'll escape surgery for the elbow. i also saw the club hit the 15,000th HR in franchise history. no other major league team has reached that number. i guess that's what they are going to be proud about this season. they play again tonight. i have no clue how i will squeeze them in this evening.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday 20-9. i watched most of the first three quarters of the game. it wasn't pretty but i'll gladly take the win.

thankfully, the trip up to and back from Columbus yesterday was pain free. the highway has been under construction for god knows how long. amazingly, no delays. as for the game, it was pretty good. Columbus beat St. Louis 4-3 in OT. St. Louis really carried the play for most of the game. i do love that our tickets for our 1/4 season package are on the club level. not too high but high enough that you can really see the ice well. i guess our tickets for the Rangers games are behind their bench on the club level. that should be a fun time in early October. not sure how much mom is going to enjoy all the walking we had to do. her hip was really bothering her last night. i drove us back. i'm not a big fan of night driving, but... i figure sometime before i die her SUV will be mine, so i should get used to driving it.

i had a blueberry waffle last night at Waffle House. it is my go to meal from now on there.

as for the shows last night, i really enjoyed all of them. Total Divas was pretty funny given all the manufactured drama. The Strain was fucking creepy last night. i can't wait to see how this season is going to end up. Last Week Tonight was hilarious. Boardwalk Empire was excellent as always. Ray Donovan was a really nice build up to the season finale next week. Masters of Sex was really good. it will be interesting to see where it goes as well.

tonight is a cluster fuck of television. all at one time, the Yankees, Monday Night football, The Voice, The Big Bang Theory, Monday Night Raw, and Gotham will all be on. how the fuck am i going to watch all of them? hopefully, YouTube will come in handy tomorrow for what i miss. i really hope Gotham is on there as i really want to see that show. most likely tonight, i'll be flipping between The Voice, Raw, and The Big Bang Theory. i think the only thing i want for Christmas this year is a fucking DVR.

fantasy football finally went my way yesterday. i'm comfortably leading in both of my matches. of course, my picks weren't as good as i hoped. but, i'm still alive in the suicide pool.

mom is out of town until Wednesday, so i'm going to try to do my best to not burn the place to the ground. all it really means is i have to go into town each day to get the mail and i can listen to porn at a higher level. enjoy that visual.

that's all for me today. hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

how quickly dreams can become nightmares...

i got up this morning feeling pretty good. i suppose that is further proof that i'm a fucking fool.

Manchester United lost this morning 5-3. i do believe their HORRIFIC defense had something to do with it, but, absolutely shitty officiating had a role as well. i can't help but believe if this game was at Old Trafford, the ref wouldn't have had the balls to make some of the calls he did today. of course, the guy has a reputation of being a fucking asshole, so who knows. still, you can't piss away 2 goal leads in the Premier League. it is a recipe for a fucking disaster.

to top off my morning, i got the shits after breakfast. not sure if it was what i ate, food from yesterday, my undiagnosed social anxiety disorder popping up again, or what. i just know this is not the morning i needed any of this to happen.

the Yankees lost yesterday 6-3. they pissed away a lead and probably cost themselves any chance to make the playoffs. they play again today, i won't be watching.

the New Orleans Saints play the Vikings today. if they don't win the home opener i fear this will be a really, REALLY long season. i'll get to watch a bit of that, but not much.

sometime early this afternoon, mom and i will be making the trip up to Columbus to go with my sister to a preseason hockey game. i believe the Blue Jackets are facing the St. Louis Blues. if it goes how i remember most preseason hockey games, there should be plenty of fights.

my fantasy football teams look to be in decent condition for today. hopefully the injury bug doesn't destroy me like last week.

ROH was good last night.

the football games last night were crazy. plenty of upsets as my picks shit the bed yesterday. thankfully, most people got those games wrong as well.

i'm not sure how many of my Sunday night shows i'm going to be able to watch tonight. but, like the good anal planner i am, i wrote down all the times they will be on just in case i get back home at some weird fucking hour. so, if all goes well, i'll be watching Boardwalk Empire, The Strain, Last Week Tonight, Total Divas, Ray Donovan, and Masters of Sex sometime before the sun comes back up. i get the funny feeling i'm not going to get lucky on this.

that's pretty much all for me. i'm not really in the mood to write anymore. besides, i'm starting to get the feeling that i'll be sprinting to the bathroom here soon.

i can't imagine any of you having a worse weekend than me at the moment. if you are, have a drink. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

slow news day

so i was watching the news this afternoon about the plane crash in the Ukraine. i fell asleep. i woke up to Israel starting a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. except in my mind, it was the same event. so i'm flipping through the channels thinking WW3 is starting. i eventually took a shower to make sure i was really awake.

mom made some really good turkey burgers for lunch. i think she may have sprinkled on some extra tryptophan on them. at least that's what i'm going with for the long nap this afternoon.

i watched Big Brother last night, just to really see how Donny beat Devin in the POV competition. that made me laugh out loud. so, thankfully, Devin will be evicted tonight and i can go back to enjoying the show.

other than Big Brother tonight, i'm going to try the new comedies on FX, Married and You're the Worst. hopefully the previews didn't have all the good parts. i love some good crass humor.

Wilfred was really good last night. i love how they are doing this final season.

The Bridge was creepy as fuck last night. just when i think that show can't get any better, it proves me wrong.

since i'm not a big fan of golf, there really isn't much sports going on today. thankfully, that will change in the next week or so.

amazingly, the humidity held off for another day here. so, the windows are still open.

my mom and sister went in on some hockey tickets for the Columbus Blue Jackets. i think they did a quarter season. all i know is i get to see my beloved New York Rangers twice next season. it's always fun to wear the enemy colors into a building. of course, when the Rangers aren't playing, i'll just be a fan for those games.

i heard a Todd Snider song on the radio yesterday as i was scrubbing the toilets. thankfully, i found the full, uncensored song on iTunes this morning. i've been playing the shit out of it today.

that's pretty much all for me today. hopefully this finds everyone well. and hopefully no one reading this had anyone on that plane today.

a sleepy haze

i just woke up from a nap. of course, i don't exactly remember when i fell asleep. that is the beauty of being depressed and watching nothing but soccer all day long. you eventually just fade into a coma. a coma with strange accents and long names.

thankfully, the New York Rangers won last night. i would hate to have seen what today would have been like after a loss. Hank tied the franchise record for wins and Hags got his first career hat trick. 2 much needed points.

talked to my sister for the first time in a few weeks today. wanted to let her know that the high school we went to made the state final 4 in basketball for the first time in 8 years. they are playing up near her on Friday, so i'm sure she'll go to the game.

did a true check of the damage we got yesterday from the wind when i was out feeding the cats. we had a nice section of the old hog barn blow off. basically, the hole is big enough that anything smaller than a bear can get in the building now. and then i got to the bank barn. a door ripped right off of the hinges. part of the frame of the bigger door broken. i did my best to collect the parts and avoid the old rusty nails. i wiped my hands on my pants and just muttered, this will be a job for the Amish. of course, that all depends if mom wants to fix any of it at all.

the joys of depression...

i'm pretty sure i'll be bouncing between hockey games tonight and maybe a little college basketball. but not much, still too painful. and hopefully, since i had a nice long nap, i'll be awake for ROH tonight.

sorry for being short, but my imagination has taken the day off as well.

hope everyone is having a good weekend. or you are preparing to overthrow the world. either or, it's all good.

a lull between the storms

so, as i was struggling to fall back asleep last night, sometime around 4 AM i could hear sleet hitting my bedroom window. well, that certainly wasn't going to help me sleep. eventually, sometime around 5 or so, my body just gave out and fell asleep. and as usual here lately, 45 minutes later i was up and getting dressed. i suppose my life is a series of naps now. i never thought my neck would feel every damn weather change like this.

we had a nice long lull between storms today, so hopefully that keeps the total amount of snow down. the second batch is just starting up now. the first storm brought a little over an inch of sleet/snow. not nearly as bad as i thought it would be. i did manage to feed the cats and get the paper before it got too bad.

so after breakfast and a nice long nap (long being 90 minutes or so) it was a soccer Sunday. flipping between games in Italy and England. mixing in a little hockey and some NASCAR. basically, anything that would put me to sleep again. it didn't exactly work.

the New York Rangers play here in a few hours at home against the Boston Bruins. i would really love to see them win tonight as the playoff race is tightening up.

seeing that i haven't been to a movie theater in over 3 years, i won't bother with the Academy Awards tonight. after the Rangers game i'll try to catch True Detective and Girls. Showtime isn't showing any new episodes of their shows tonight, only reruns. that certainly makes it easier for me.

last night, after sleeping through the 3rd period of the hockey game in Chicago and all of the local news, and the opening to Saturday Night Live, i woke up to Jim Parsons singing show tunes. overall, i really enjoyed the episode. Beck was great. i definitely have to get his new album.

ROH was great last night. i really enjoyed the match between AJ Styles and Jay Lethal. ROH is certainly gaining on the WWE in my mind. not saying that i enjoy it more, but i certainly can say i enjoy it just as much. i need to figure out how i'm getting to the show near me later this month. i haven't been to a live wrestling event in well over a decade.

well, this second part of the storm has come in pretty damn quick and heavy. can't really see down to the end of the lane. should be a long night i guess.

well, that's all for me. i certainly hope the weather is better in your neck of the woods. and i do hope everyone has had a great weekend.

peace and chicken grease.

a sleepy Sunday

i expected to see snow when i woke up this morning. there was none. it was cold, but no snow. and the snow we did get later in the morning was nothing like they were talking about on the news. just your basic flurries and nothing more. i find it humorous anymore how often they are wrong. and people wonder why i have mostly stopped watching local television news.

ROH last night was excellent. both matches were sensational, especially Kevin Steen vs. Kyle O'Reilly. that match had a little of everything. Steen is one of my favorites in the indie scene. he always manages to make me laugh watching a match of his and then say holy shit 2 minutes later with some crazy move. of course, he doesn't fit the WWE mold of what a wrestler should look like, so he'll never get to the level of fame he deserves. so sad.

i did watch the gold medal game in hockey at the Winter Olympics this morning. when i heard that Sweden's top center was out because of illness (which later turned out to be a failed drug test) i knew they were in trouble. and frankly, if The King wasn't in goal, Sweden would have lost by more. 3-0 when you are completely outmatched is not bad. i was happy that The King was named to the all tournament team as top goalie by the media. he certainly deserved it.

i fell asleep watching the Daytona 500 today only to wake up to the race being red flagged because of a tornado warning. good times.

i was able to get everything i had to do this morning done, even with my lower back feeling like it was getting ready to go on strike. that was not fun, but i powered through it. might be another pain pill in my future this evening.

i am looking forward to my Sunday night shows tonight. i got my sister hooked on the show True Detective. it's the best show going today. Girls has been on a pretty good streak. Shameless is as good as it has ever been. House of Lies and Episodes are my come down shows. i think they help lead me into sleep around 1 or 2 in the morning.

also, i'll probably be following the ppv for the WWE tonight on the internet. should be an interesting one.

that's all for me today. got to get my mind ready for lows in the single digits again. thankfully, the propane tank got filled just the other day.

i'll be on here tomorrow in the afternoon/early evening. hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. enjoy the final few hours of it.

be well.

unexpected joy

so i woke up this morning to the news that Finland was getting their starting goalie back for today's game. my first thought was oh shit. after watching Finland humble the USA 5-0 to win the bronze, i was correct. the USA got exactly what it deserved today. the team basically quit and played selfishly and like shit. Finland deserved the game and the bronze medal.

so, after that debacle, it was time to watch Manchester United. their 41st game of the year and 41st different starting lineup. at this point, i hope Moyes uses a different one for every game just for the sake of being an asshole. 0-0 at half didn't exactly fill me with hope. but, a pk from RVP and a wonderful goal from the insanely rich Wayne Rooney and suddenly, a 2-0 win. MUCH needed 3 points. hopefully the team can continue to get healthier and really do well in the upcoming Champions League games.

while that game was ending, the Dayton Flyers were starting on the radio. they must have decided they didn't need to try in this game as they started off colder than a dead person. down 17-2 at one point. and early in the second half, they were down 18 points. then, either the lights went on or the coach threatened death to all of them as Dayton came all the way back to win 57-54. helps when the other team plays not to lose instead of playing to win. Dayton is now 19-8 and firmly on the bubble for the NCAA tournament.

i'm currently enjoying that second victory beer. and it is my favorite, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat.

i wrote 3 poems before going to bed last night. i typed them up this afternoon as alcohol helps ease the pain of typing. 1 of them i really like. i'm planning on going through all the poems here next week to get a few submissions ready.

i did watch the tree house show last night as they were building a recording studio up in a tree house. if i only had some fuck you money...

as for tonight, plenty of college basketball to flip through and then some ROH to end the evening. hopefully i stay awake.

here is probably my favorite moment from last night:

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime after the gold medal game at the Winter Olympics. and after i pick up the trash and get it down to the end of the lane. and after i feed the cats and try to explain to them how it can be 60 one day and then be snowing the next. and sometime during the Daytona 500 as i'm not doing any NASCAR fantasy this year, so i really don't give a shit. my favorite driver is back in Indy Car again.

hope everyone has had a wonderful Saturday. if you are going out tonight, drink one for me. and remember, only fuck the ones that cough.

peace and chicken grease.

i have certainly had better days

ok, where to begin? i suppose last night would be the best place to start. mom gets a message on her telephone that there is a tornado warning for our county. i flip over to the local news station and it was quite funny to see the fucker that does the weather scrambling, trying to plug his microphone in, and announcing the warning nearly out of breath. so he brings up the radar and i see that it is basically a mile away from us. the satellite signal goes out. we turn all the computers off and just ride it out. mom is sitting at the table and i'm pacing like an asshole ready to die. i find out this morning that a little baby tornado hit about 2 miles from here. all we had was some small limbs down in the yard. god is such a tease.

i was able to sleep in my bed last night for the first time in forever it seemed. i got a little over 4 hours. i did feel a little pain here and there but not the horrific pain i was feeling a month ago. so, when i woke up this morning, i was in a really good mood. that should have been my first sign.

soon after waking up, i got the shits. mom had to leave to go to Cincy for meetings, so i had the house to myself. so, my hot morning alone was about trips to the bathroom, watching some hockey on tv, doing my laundry, and trying to buy some Bruce Springsteen tickets. i got my laundry done, Sweden won like i wanted, more on the other game in a bit, i eventually took some Imodium, and by the time i got through the Springsteen tickets were sold out. more signs of what was coming.

team USA lost to Canada 1-0. just one damn mistake and that was all it took. so, Finland plays the USA in the who gives a shit game tomorrow morning. that will go right into the Manchester United game in the afternoon. so my Saturday will either be great or just a big pile of shit early on. after the United game, Dayton plays over in Pittsburgh against Duquesne. no tv on that one, so i might be taking out some frustrations screaming at a radio.

Canada plays Sweden for the gold on Sunday. i will be openly rooting for Sweden because i just can't stand the fucking arrogance of Canada when it comes to hockey. that is what makes today so fucking brutal.

i was actually happy that Wayne Rooney signed a long extension with Manchester United today. that should put all the rumors to bed for a few years at least.

i actually drove my truck for the first time since god knows when today. went in town to mail a book and get the mail. was a little tricky driving as my left arm starts to tingle whenever i fully extend it. so, i'll have to change how i drive for the time being. also, i was driving in 50 mph winds. so, that was tons of fun. it was a job just to keep the damn truck on the road. i probably would have done a better job if i was drunk.

i did watch some basketball last night. i was watching the Miami vs. OKC game when LeBron broke his nose on a dunk. i believe last night was his message to the league that Kevin Durant hasn't done shit yet, so hold up the MVP voting. and i did catch overtime of the late game. that was entertaining.

as for tonight, i have no fucking clue what i'm going to be watching. maybe some wrestling, maybe some basketball, maybe the tree house show, maybe reruns of shit i saw years ago, maybe some music, or maybe tonight is the night i just turn on the history channel or military channel and zone out to shit i already know. i do know i have been cussing at these assholes on Jeopardy this week for not knowing shit. it's obvious i didn't really miss anything by not going to college, other than drugs and pussy. i learned more on my own than these fucks at these prestigious universities. plus, any fucker that wears a bow tie should either be supporting a cause or be forced to admit they are a fucking asshole.

can you see i'm in a mood?

i'll be on here tomorrow after my games are over. hopefully sipping on 3 victory beers or the next blog post will be even more bitter than this pile of shit i wrote today.

hope everyone has a great weekend.  peace and chicken grease.

and then there was 4

since i'm not sleeping worth a shit these days, it does provide me the opportunity to watch plenty of the Winter Olympics live. and i did watch most of the 4 hockey games today. i couldn't give a shit about any of the other sports. Sweden took care of Slovenia 5-0. yet another shutout for The King. Finland put a smile on my face, defeating Russia 3-1. the USA beat the Czech Republic 5-2. and Canada was stymied for most of the game, but eventually beat Latvia 2-1. that sets up 2 delicious games on Friday. Sweden vs. Finland, a rematch of the 2006 gold medal game. and the USA vs. Canada, a rematch of the 2010 gold medal game. i will definitely be watching both of those games. plenty of skill and hatred.

i satisfied my itch to write last night by writing 5 new poems. i typed them up while i was enjoying a victory beer this afternoon. i do believe i have a few winners in the batch. i'm hoping to get a few submissions together for next week.

i really didn't watch much last night until the late night talk shows. it was basically just flipping through the channels. that won't be the case tonight. Dayton plays LaSalle at 9 tonight. since my neck isn't cooperating with me at the moment, i won't be going to the game. but, i will be watching on tv. hopefully Dayton comes out on fire since they have been off for a week. it's another MUST win game. they are certainly knocking on the door of march madness this year. they already have more wins this year than last year.

i go back to the doctor at 11 tomorrow morning. i'm hoping the appointment doesn't last too long as i would like to see a good portion of the women's gold medal game in hockey between the USA and Canada. so, i'm hoping it goes we're going to go in this direction, here's a new script for some pain pills and then off to the sports bar. i imagine i will have a MRI in my future. unless the doctor thinks some other course is the better way to go. but since i've been dealing with this for over a month now, i'll assume it is time to take this to the next level. as well as i'm managing the pain, i wouldn't mind not having to deal with it at all.

the farm is in a state of 80 acres of a sloppy fucking mess. the slow melt is definitely on. i don't mind that in the fields, as that will certainly help the crops down the line. but i really wouldn't mind if all the damn snow around the house was gone. since not one inch of this place is flat or level, it's tricky as fuck to walk to the bird feeders or even to the cats. hitting a bump wrong isn't real fun with a bad back. of course, tomorrow night i believe we have some thunderstorms moving through. i think there already is a high wind warning. that should be loads of fucking fun.

that's all for today. i hope everyone is well. i'll be on here sometime tomorrow afternoon with the health update. and hopefully i'll have a good buzz going as well. until then my friends and enemies.

peace

and now, the melting begins

we had an ice storm move through here last night that started off with some thunder. the weather this winter is straight out of a fucking b-movie. thankfully, it wasn't enough ice to bring down power lines or knock down any trees. although, i did wake up to plenty of branches down in the yard. when i saw how icy it was this morning, i didn't bother to even try to deal with it. i tried to get some more sleep as the sun started to make an appearance. thankfully, it damn near got to 50 today and melt most of the ice. it looks like it will be above freezing for the rest of the week. that should melt most of the snow and leave a good bit of mud everywhere. that will make it fun walking over to feed the cats.

i was in and out of the hockey action today at the Winter Olympics. the quarterfinals are now set. Sweden plays Slovenia, Finland plays Russia, USA plays Czech Republic, and Canada plays Latvia. i feel pretty good in predicting Sweden, USA, and Canada will win. i have no damn clue in the Finland vs. Russia game. i could see both teams winning.

i fell asleep last night before the main event of Monday Night Raw. after checking YouTube, i didn't really miss much. the match between Cesaro and Cena last night was great. sadly, the wrong guy won.

i did wake up in time to watch The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. i enjoyed it. you could tell Jimmy was nervous as hell. this was really fucking funny:

and U2 doing their new song on the roof with that sunset was amazing. beyond picturesque. i was happy i woke up to watch it. it'll certainly get tricky for me when it is going up against Letterman. thankfully, Jimmy puts most of the damn show up on YouTube. that certainly helps.

the beauty or horror of the chili i make is 12 hours later and you are planted on the toilet. as my mother put it this morning, i guess both of us are cleaned the fuck out now. you're welcome for the visual.

i really don't know what i'm going to watch tonight. i'm getting the itch to do some writing. that may happen here soon. most likely after my next visit to the doctor on Thursday. i have spent most of the day listening to music. and watching Barcelona beat Manchester City in Champions League play. so much for Shitty's coach saying that they were the only club in Manchester. i always love when those fuckers get humbled.

that's all for me. i'll be on here tomorrow after all the hockey games. and hopefully sipping on a victory beer. i hope this finds everyone well.

peace and chicken grease.

one sleepy weekend

so i fell asleep last night right before the dunk contest started. i didn't mind that as i really don't care for the dunk contest. i've never been able to dunk. and i'm never going to be able to dunk. what really made me laugh is i fell asleep both times i tried to watch ROH last night. thankfully, i watched it this afternoon. it's always a good time when i get to see Chris Hero wrestle, mostly because he went to the high school 1 town away from me.

i was up early again this morning to watch team USA play men's hockey. i was really hoping they weren't going to be in a fog because of the amazing and draining victory over Russia yesterday. Phil Kessel decided they were going to be focused on Slovenia by scoring 64 seconds into the game. that was the start of a natural hat trick for him and a 5-1 win. that clinches the group and the second seed for the quarterfinals. so, that basically means they are most likely going to face Canada in the semis. i'll get to that mountain when it happens. right now i'm hoping they are focused on playing whoever wins between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. and hopefully they enjoy a couple days off. i like that this team still hasn't played its best game yet. and Ryan McDonagh is becoming the second coming of Brian Leetch. always good to see when the players from the New York Rangers are doing well.

i did watch a little NASCAR qualifying for Daytona today. just enough to satisfy my inner redneck. it's going to be a little crazy to see the #3 on the pole for the Daytona 500. toss in bizarre and emotional as well. it is going to be a circus. but that reminds me, i need to get my NASCAR fantasy team going again.

i took a nice long shower today. it would have been great if my back wouldn't have tightened up during it. that's always fun. i always get the feeling that one of these days my back is going to lock up in a painful position and i'll be home alone. now you know why i don't jerk off in the shower.

i'm looking forward to the Sunday night shows. True Detective has me hooked big time. Shameless is going strong as well this season. Girls is having a much better season than the last one. i would put House of Lies in that category as well. as for Episodes, it is simply so bad it is good in a laughing at them kind of way.

i might watch a little bit of the NBA All-Star game tonight. not a great deal though. it usually turns into a glorified AAU game.

the weather here has been a steady cold blah all day long. no sunshine at all. it is supposed to warm up here by about 30 degrees in a few days. that will turn all this snow into mud pretty damn quick. but, if that allows my pinched nerve and bad back to feel a little better, i'm all for it.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a great weekend. hopefully a few of you have decided to not stop the weekend. take it easy and if it's easy, take it again.

be well my friends and enemies. until tomorrow.

exhausted and happy

like an old man, i fell asleep before 10 last night. i woke up at 11:30 and for some fucking reason, felt refreshed. i might have slept a few hours here and there the rest of the night because i knew what was coming in the morning. i made sure i got a good breakfast in me and tried my best to loosen my back up because i knew i was in for some tension.

USA vs. Russia. Olympic hockey. in Russia. if you didn't get to see the game, you missed out. if saw the game and weren't excited, i'll ask you to please die now. as for the rest of us, what a fucking game. i was completely fucking exhausted by the end of it. and i do hope T.J. Oshie never has to buy a drink in this country again. a big 3-2 win in an instant classic shootout. and the best part, doing it all in front of Putin and shutting a crowd the fuck up. now, i hope the USA have it out of their system, for they have to go out tomorrow morning and win the group. and it won't be easy.

after that, i checked out some FA Cup action and some more hockey in the Olympics, but mostly got some more sleep. hopefully that means i'll be able to stay up tonight for ROH.

thankfully, we got plowed out this morning. we probably got close to 5 inches. i truly felt like shit watching my mom try to shovel it. i offered to do it but she doesn't want me to injure myself more. of course, the guy that plowed us out told my mom he was planning on doing it. if he would have got here 5 minutes sooner, he would have. but mom was thankful as she needed to get to the store.

i imagine i will be watching some of the dunk contest and the three point shooting contest tonight for the NBA All-Star weekend festivities. and some of the college basketball games as well. all while sipping on a victory beer. i think NBC is going to show the shootout when they start their Olympic coverage tonight. i'll happily be watching that again.

that is pretty much all for today. i hope this finds everyone well. i'll be on here tomorrow after (hopefully) another team USA win in hockey.

peace and chicken grease.

i never really cared for this day

of course, i imagine i would have a much better attitude about this day if i was in a relationship or actually had a woman in my life that loved me more than as just a good friend. and to top off today, the snow that was supposed to be 50 miles south of here somehow ended up 50 miles north and is right on top of us. that light dusting we were supposed to get is going to be 4+ inches. fuck me, i'm so fucking tired of winter.

my back nearly went out on me twice today. thank god i remembered the stretches i learned for this type of oh shit moment. the good thing was my back was hurting so much that my neck felt better. i'm slowly falling apart.

i watched a good portion of hockey in the Olympics today. good to see The King get another shutout for Sweden. i'm really looking forward to the USA vs. Russia game in the morning. hopefully i'll actually get some sleep before the game comes on.

so De La Soul was allowing people to download their entire music catalog for free today. i wasn't going to pass that up. so, i put in my email for their first album. i'm still waiting for the download code. my luck, when it arrives i won't be able to download it. at least not for free.

thankfully, my amazon.com order showed up a day early. so i've got plenty of new shit to listen to for a few months. of course, being in this house all day and night long, chances are i'll go through those 11 cd's in a few days.

in my boredom and frustration today, i took some photos...

you can see the rest of them in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog.

not really sure what i'm going to be watching tonight on tv. i believe the NBA All-Star weekend festivities begin this evening. i suppose if i'm bored enough i'll check that out. of course, there is always my guilty pleasure tree house show on Animal Planet. beats watching the snow pile up.

i'm sure the birds are happy i got my broken bones out there to feed them today. i did see all the cats today, amazingly enough.

that's all for me. i do hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend. be well, be creative, be drunk, be naked by a fire but don't get too close...

peace and chicken grease.
