we lost a good one today...

so i woke up this morning to the news of Shane MacGowan's death. i knew he wasn't in great health, but that caught me off guard. those Pogues songs always bring me back to my youth and just discovering music. i believe the first song i heard from The Pogues was A Pair Of Brown Eyes. they were playing it outside of an old record store in downtown Dayton. i went in and asked what that was and they said The Pogues. i think i was like 15 at the time. i think it was the young poet in me that was really attracted to The Pogues. Shane's death has brought back all those memories. i am happy that he is no longer suffering. i am happy that i have these songs to listen to. but damn, the world has lost one of the good ones.

the Dayton Flyers won last night at SMU, 65-63. that was their first non-conference road win in 7 years.

the New York Rangers won last night at home against Detroit, 3-2.

The Masked Singer was crazy last night.

AEW Dynamite was pretty good last night.

i did watch that Christmas at Graceland special last night.

i will probably watch some of the NFL game tonight between Seattle and Dallas.

just another manic Monday...

so, i wanted to get out into the world this morning, but my bad back said nope. so, after a nice long icing and nap, i did manage to get out and do some shopping today. i went to Rite Aid to pick up some prescriptions. 2 of the 3 were ready. they wanted me to wait for the 3rd one. i told them i'll come back tomorrow for it. i had already spent nearly a half hour waiting in line already. i then went to Menards to try to find some things. i did find just about everything i was looking for. and i kept it under $40. i needed to get some gas. i did that at Speedway. and then i had to go to Kroger. mom had pills ready and i needed to get something for lunch as it was approaching 5 PM. and people wonder why i eat a big breakfast everyday. all in all, it was a pretty productive day for me.

i did write 3 poems yesterday. i was pretty pleased with them when i typed them up. i know where i am sending those. i need to write some more, which i will be hopefully doing soon.

the New York Rangers won last night in Chicago, 7-1. they are absolutely rolling right now.

the New York Knicks won yesterday in Indiana, 109-106.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

George & Tammy was very good last night.

Ziwe was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

i might watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Packers and Rams.

in some sad news today, Tom Browning died. he was one of my favorite Cincinnati Reds when i was growing up.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i should be on here tomorrow in the afternoon.

i need to go help mom with her shower and figure out dinner.

the joys of a bad back and little sleep...

so, i did get mom to her ct scan this morning on time. i wrote 3 poems while i was in the waiting room. the scan didn't take nearly as long as she was expecting. hopefully, it comes back clean. as for the poems, i typed those up this afternoon.

i really needed to ice my back and take a little nap. that little nap became 3 1/2 hours of sleep. the joys of McDonald's for breakfast i suppose. unless i can just snap my fingers and get this blog done in a few seconds, as well as a shower and a little workout, i won't be going to the game tonight. at least it is on television.

great, mom just told me she has been having chest pains today, so i am definitely not going to the game tonight now. good times.

i'm sure it is just stress from the holidays and that my sister is coming down tomorrow night, etc. etc.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i did catch a little of both football games last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT.

i will watch the Dayton Flyers play Southern tonight on ESPN+. given the number of old people that go, i probably don't want to enter that petri dish given the latest COVID outbreak.

i'll probably watch a little of both NFL games tonight as well. Seahawks play the Rams and Washington plays the Eagles.

my order from Topps.com that has been stuck at Fed Ex for nearly a week finally showed up today. i need to open that up and see if anything is damaged. good times.

i'm going to try to be on here tomorrow in the morning, before i do the grocery shopping. and i really want to get all the shopping done before my sister comes down tomorrow night.

that's all for me kids.

happy Christmas Eve...

i think it rained most of the night. i tossed and turned for most of it. it tried to snow today, but i don't think much stuck on the ground.

i did watch some NBA games last night. i was fucking stunned that Sacramento won in Denver, that's for sure.

NXT was excellent last night.

AEW was very good last night.

i managed to get all my 91 Fleer cards into pages last night. i only had a few pages of 91 Fleer before i got that box. now, i have close to a full binder of them. this afternoon, i managed to get those 91 Classic minor league cards together with all my other minor league cards. i do like that i feel like i am much better organized these days with my cards.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i watched NXT UK this afternoon. it was a look back on the best of for 2020.

i should be on here in the morning tomorrow. i have a little surprise for everyone and then i'll do a quick blog, you know with sweet wishes and all that bullshit.

i have no clue what my sister has planned for this evening. she mentioned something about decorating cookies and some other shit. looks like i might as well get drunk tonight.

i hope everyone has a great Christmas Eve. hopefully you are safely enjoying your loved ones and the weather is fine wherever you may be.

the perfect day for back pain...

my back tightened up this morning and after a few hours on ice, it isn't any better. so yeah, just fucking perfect for Christmas Eve.

the Dayton Flyers won last night over Grambling State, 81-53. Ibi Watson scored a career high 30 points in his first start of the season. he was replacing an injured Jalen Crutcher, sitting out because of concussion protocol. thank god Dayton is much deeper this season than previous years.

i wrote 10 poems yesterday while mom was doing physical therapy. i think that puts me at over 50 for the month. not too shabby.

when i got home from the basketball game last night, i saw the New York Rangers score and decided i didn't need to watch the highlights. they lost to Philadelphia, 5-1.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

i didn't watch much of the NFL game last night. of course, the fucking Vikings spit the bit, losing to the Packers, 23-10. it's most likely the Saints are going to end up the 3 seed in the NFC playoffs. if that happens, they will play the Vikings in the playoffs in New Orleans.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Backstage.

i guess my sister is coming down way earlier than mom and i expected. i'm pretty sure given the pain i am in, i'm going to have to bite my tongue quite a bit for the next 48 hours or so.

i'm pretty surprised mom hasn't had me go out and get something today. maybe she didn't forget anything for her recipes this year.

i hope everyone has a great Christmas Eve.

i will be on here probably pretty early tomorrow. i don't expect anyone to need to read this blog on Christmas day. although, i'm more than happy if anyone decides to do so.

if i get a wild hair up my ass, i might have a little Christmas gift for everyone tomorrow.

that's all for me kids. until tomorrow...

Merry Christmas

everyone in this house is still asleep. i've been up for almost 2 hours now. it's almost been like this since i was a child. it's certainly a recipe to die young.

Merry Christmas to everyone. i hope you have a wonderful day and get things you actually want and will treasure and enjoy.

i had a pretty good and relaxing Christmas Eve.

i did watch a little bit of the game last night between Oakland and Denver. if that is the last game they play in Oakland, at least the fans went home happy.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown.

i'll probably watch a ton of NBA games today. that's my usual Christmas tradition.

i think my sister is going home sometime tonight. after she leaves, mom and i have to get the wreaths off the doors as they are coming tomorrow to put new doors on the house. this was basically mom's Christmas gift to herself.

i will probably be on here tomorrow in the afternoon most likely. probably after Manchester United plays on Boxing Day.

do the world a favor today, call someone who is alone and wish them a Merry Christmas.

i hope everyone has a great day.

well, the snow lasted for a little while

the inch of rain we had overnight eventually turned over to snow this morning. it didn't last on the ground long as the sun eventually came out. of course, it's supposed to stick tomorrow. hopefully i'll be already at my sister's house by the time that happens.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows. i can't wait for it to come back in 2018.

Manchester United pissed away chance after chance today and gave up a goal at the death to leave Leicester City with a 2-2 draw. i knew it was going to happen but that doesn't mean i'm not still fucking pissed.

the Dayton Flyers won today 79-67 over Wagner. Dayton did their best to try to piss away a 22 point halftime lead in the second half. thankfully, they made their free throws down the stretch. i don't think this team has played a good second half this season. that's beyond troubling. but, at least i'll get to have a drink tonight.

i don't know how we're going to fit all the presents and the chair in the car, but i'll find a damn way.
my sister told my mother that someone else is coming to dinner tomorrow night. mom said she didn't have a present for her. i asked mom if she wanted me to whip up a mix cd for her. 45 minutes later i handed mom the final mix. thank god i listen to everything.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Toronto. hopefully they will get a victory before the Christmas break.

i won't be blogging on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. i doubt my sister would appreciate it since i will be at her place. i will be back on here on Boxing Day, probably after Manchester United pisses me off again.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. be safe, don't get caught drinking and driving, and be sure to already have the presents in the car once the big blow up with the family happens.

i plan on taking my camera, so if i get some good pictures of the white Christmas we're supposed to have, i will share them.

thoughts on a windy day...

so i wanted to be somewhat productive this morning. i went out to get gas for the car. of course, the wind was bad enough that the door closed on my bad leg before i could even fully get out of the damn thing. nothing quite like some blood before 9 in the morning. after i got the gas, i went and got breakfast. i was limping pretty bad when i walked into the house. mom asked me what happened. i simply said life.

after breakfast, i did take a shower. there's nothing quite like the feeling of warm water and soap hitting a fresh wound. thank god my pain tolerance still exists.

shopping this morning with mom wasn't too bad. we went to Office Depot first as she had some store credit that was going to run out soon. i got some envelopes i needed and a cheap notebook to write in. she had enough store credit to cover all of that. after that, we went to Meijer. that's the only store around here where mom can find small bottles of spices. it felt like we were restocking the pantry today. i got some more cheap notebooks for me to write in and a little sign for my room. I GET MY CARDIO BY RUNNING FROM ADULT RESPONSIBILITIES. that pretty much sums up my life i suppose.

the New York Rangers won last night against the Kings, 4-2. hopefully they can get another win today up in Boston.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NJPW was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH.

i saw the news this afternoon that the New York Yankees are bringing back CC for another year. the contract makes sense as well, $10 million. they still have enough room under the luxury tax number to bring in another starter as well.

it looks like i will be going to the Dayton Flyers game tonight by myself. mom isn't feeling that well. i get the sense that the shopping this morning was about all she could handle today. oh well. hopefully, i will get to see a better game than the last time Dayton played. it would also be nice to see a damn win.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays and before the New Orleans Saints take on the New York Jets.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. call if you need bail money.

a good day to drink yourself blind

i nearly got everything i wanted last night at the First Four. both games were very competitive and came down to the closing minutes. what i didn't get was a Michigan loss. that would have made the night perfect considering the first 3 rows in the section next to me were the parents of the Michigan players. we had seats in the front row of our section. i don't mind them, especially since my eyes are right at ass level of most people walking by. that gives my imagination plenty to do. what fucking sucks is most people don't watch or give a shit that you might be sitting there. a lady, or better yet, a cunt that was a Michigan fan put her high heels right into my big toe. not a fucking i'm sorry or excuse me or anything. mom could tell i was still pissed after the game. she asked why didn't i say anything. i told her because i was going to kill the bitch. i for once would like to be rewarded for my restraint for not killing everyone on this fucking planet. thankfully, the toe wasn't broken. it will probably bruise nicely.

congrats to Holy Cross for their first win in the tournament since 1953. as for Michigan, please remember you are a football school and nothing more.

after Waffle House, i got home in time to watch the New York Rangers win at Anaheim, 2-1. thank you Kevin Klein for that victory beer. they play at Los Angeles tonight.

Lucha Underground was great last night. for me, it is the perfect alternative to WWE.

NXT was really good as well. i watched that this morning. i can't wait to see Sami Zayn take on Shinsuke Nakamura on WrestleMania weekend. that should be fucking amazing.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Smackdown and Baskets.

when Manchester United scored first today, i had hopes that they could pull off the miracle. when Liverpool got a goal right before halftime, i knew that this was going to become shit from my nightmares. i'm not sure if LVG truly understands the embarrassment he should feel for getting knocked out of the Europa League by Liverpool. you know, just your biggest fucking rival, that's all. what killed me even more, when the asshole knew we needed goals, that clueless dipshit was bringing on defenders. if he had a decent bone in his body, he'd resign tonight. or better, kill himself. of course, his ego will keep him above it all, fucking asshole. to put the final nail in the coffin for this season, Manchester United next plays at Manchester City. fuck me.

so, as you might imagine, this isn't one of my favorite St. Patrick's Days. everything tends to taste like shit at the moment.

as for my brackets, i've already lost one sweet sixteen team, so it's basically like every year around this time.

i typed up the 6 poems i wrote the other day this afternoon. i think a couple of them are really good.

the Dayton Flyers play tomorrow against Syracuse. i'll probably get to watch most of the first half before i have to take mom to another physical therapy appointment. god willing, they will be winning while i'm not watching. it won't be an easy game, i know that for sure.

i'll be on here sometime in the afternoon, hopefully happier than i can believe. i really don't care how Dayton wins, it's March, survive and advance.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a better day than i did.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

these old Irish eyes

i was up to about 4 in the morning filling out NCAA brackets, mostly because the Dayton Flyers made the tournament for the first time since 2009. and they get to play Ohio State. this is really funny as Ohio State never plays in state schools EVER and our best scorer transferred from there. i believe this will be the second time we're playing them in almost 30 years.

so, my day has been a series of naps. that, and sneaking in candy so i don't fall asleep. i gave up this afternoon and just sat back in the chair and was out for a few hours. if the phone wouldn't have rang, i might still be asleep.

i did enjoy the Sunday night shows. Girls was good. Vice is always my favorite news show. Shameless was great as usual. House of Lies was good. and Episodes finished off its' season on a pretty strong streak.

as for this evening, my Monday night battle between The Voice and Monday Night Raw resumes. the battle rounds start on The Voice. i suppose i will be on YouTube sometime catching up on what i miss. as for Raw, should be a good episode after last week.

the New York Rangers did everything but fucking score yesterday, losing 1-0. i'll write this off to running into a scorching hot goalie, but they have to start getting points out of all of these games. they already have slipped down to the final playoff spot. that's not a good sign. i believe they play tomorrow night in Ottawa.

hope everyone had a wonderful day of drinking. i haven't had a drop yet, but that's going to change here in a bit. i'll be on here tomorrow sometime before i go to the First Four games at UD Arena. so, early afternoon i imagine.

be well my enemies...

sometimes all you can do is sleep

i can tell this is a massive weather system getting ready to roll through here as i have been in pain ALL day long. and nearly every 30 minutes or so, i catch myself starting to fall asleep from the pain. the type of pain where the pills don't work anymore. it's just lovely.

so, here is a quick recap of my life in the last 24 hours...

for some reason, 10 PM rolls around anymore and i become a situational narcoleptic. so, i fell asleep last night and missed the ending of wrestling, the local news, and the first 30 minutes or so of The Tonight Show. i woke up with a blanket on me and wondering what the fuck happened. good times.

The Voice last night was pretty good. i believe Adam got the best performer of the night.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good as well. i did enjoy the Daniel Bryan occupy moment. that was interesting to watch. i love how the company gave in to the public pressure and made HHH vs. Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania with the stipulation that if Bryan wins he gets to be in the main event. that should save that match from being boring as fuck.

a big thanks to YouTube for having all the shit i missed in my slumber.

today has been pretty damn painful. the subscription i won to Maxim started today. so, i suppose that could be a bright spot. i've spent most of the day brainstorming on what songs i'm going to include on my cousin's cd. i figure once i have my 10, i'll download his 30 and get to mixing. hopefully i'll have that done by the weekend.

i've also been in and out of the start of the free agency period in the NFL. i always try to keep track of that for fantasy football purposes.

the New York Rangers play here in a few minutes. Hank will be going for win number 301, which would tie the franchise record. and it would extend the Rangers winning streak. hopefully i am enjoying a victory beer later tonight.

i'll also be flipping to the new episode of The Voice tonight, which should conclude the blind auditions. and some college basketball as well this evening. plenty of league championship games that determine tournament teams are going on.

i believe the thunderstorms are supposed to start around 4 in the morning. and then it is supposed to turn to snow around noon or so. not exactly sure when i'll get out to the cats. i tried to give them enough food to make it for longer than 24 hours. by Thursday morning the temperature is going to be around 4 or so. it was near 65 degrees today. fuck me.

i suppose if the power or the satellite goes out tomorrow, i might try to get some writing done. stumbled upon another site i want to send to.

that's all for me today. hope everyone is well and properly inebriated. not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. that is pretty much in Mother Nature's gnarly fucking hands.

later...

and now, the melting begins

we had an ice storm move through here last night that started off with some thunder. the weather this winter is straight out of a fucking b-movie. thankfully, it wasn't enough ice to bring down power lines or knock down any trees. although, i did wake up to plenty of branches down in the yard. when i saw how icy it was this morning, i didn't bother to even try to deal with it. i tried to get some more sleep as the sun started to make an appearance. thankfully, it damn near got to 50 today and melt most of the ice. it looks like it will be above freezing for the rest of the week. that should melt most of the snow and leave a good bit of mud everywhere. that will make it fun walking over to feed the cats.

i was in and out of the hockey action today at the Winter Olympics. the quarterfinals are now set. Sweden plays Slovenia, Finland plays Russia, USA plays Czech Republic, and Canada plays Latvia. i feel pretty good in predicting Sweden, USA, and Canada will win. i have no damn clue in the Finland vs. Russia game. i could see both teams winning.

i fell asleep last night before the main event of Monday Night Raw. after checking YouTube, i didn't really miss much. the match between Cesaro and Cena last night was great. sadly, the wrong guy won.

i did wake up in time to watch The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. i enjoyed it. you could tell Jimmy was nervous as hell. this was really fucking funny:

and U2 doing their new song on the roof with that sunset was amazing. beyond picturesque. i was happy i woke up to watch it. it'll certainly get tricky for me when it is going up against Letterman. thankfully, Jimmy puts most of the damn show up on YouTube. that certainly helps.

the beauty or horror of the chili i make is 12 hours later and you are planted on the toilet. as my mother put it this morning, i guess both of us are cleaned the fuck out now. you're welcome for the visual.

i really don't know what i'm going to watch tonight. i'm getting the itch to do some writing. that may happen here soon. most likely after my next visit to the doctor on Thursday. i have spent most of the day listening to music. and watching Barcelona beat Manchester City in Champions League play. so much for Shitty's coach saying that they were the only club in Manchester. i always love when those fuckers get humbled.

that's all for me. i'll be on here tomorrow after all the hockey games. and hopefully sipping on a victory beer. i hope this finds everyone well.

peace and chicken grease.
