mom had a funny realization last night. she mentioned something that it seems like gambling is mostly about luck. sadly, she is right. for as much as i study the odds and feel like i know what i am doing, it really just comes down to dumb fucking luck. i did get the Bengals bet right yesterday. but, all the parlays that i thought had a really good chance of hitting, i lost on. now, i do not do big bets. hell, the largest i have done so far is $25. and the only reason i do those is they are basically guaranteed. i do have a few bets tonight for the national championship game and one on the Lakers vs. Nuggets. hopefully, i will have better luck tonight than i did yesterday.
the New Orleans Saints started the game off well yesterday. they went right down the field and scored. and i guess they thought that was all they had to do. the players and sadly, the coaches absolutely fucking stunk yesterday. they lost to Carolina, 10-7. i felt horrible for the defense that did so much for fucking nothing in that game. i really hope the coaching staff is different next year, but i doubt it. thank god the season is over.
the playoffs are now set in the NFL. the Chiefs and Eagles are the #1 seeds and have a bye next week. Seattle plays the 49ers. Chargers go to the Jaguars. Dolphins at Bills, Giants at Vikings, Ravens at Bengals and Cowboys at Tampa Bay.
the finale of George & Tammy last night was excellent.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw. i'll probably be watching the national championship between TCU and Georgia for most of the night.
the New York Knicks play at home tonight against Milwaukee.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
i did listen to episode 429 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:
i did go to Rite Aid today to pick up two prescriptions. amazingly, they only cost me $9. i also got a box of baseball cards while i was there. i had $4 off so the box was less than $2. i found an autographed rookie in it, so that was a nice surprise.
i'll be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the League Cup.
i hope everyone had a great Sunday.
i need to get going and make dinner tonight.
i hope all your bets are winners this evening.

yesterday was a busy ass day for me. and i only made it busier by taking a nap right after i got this blog done. but, i did get everything done yesterday that i was hoping to; laundry, mom's bills, etc.
so, let me start off with the New York Rangers. they pissed away a 2 goal lead yesterday and lost at New Jersey in OT, 4-3. not exactly how i wanted to wake up from the nap.
i did watch both NFL games yesterday. got the winners of the games correct but nothing much else.
Austin City Limits was really good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of George & Tammy.
the New Orleans Saints play today at home against Carolina. hopefully, they will finish this season with a win.
i'm sure i will watch some other NFL games today as well. most of my bets today are parlay bets or a few no-brainers, especially the win if the Bengals score bet. i'm pretty confident i will win $50 on that one.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:
so, there was a bunch of shit that kept me up last night... i didn't fall asleep until 5 this morning. managed to finally get out of bed a little after 11. just enough rain and moisture last night that my arthritis was having a field trip. i hate eating breakfast at noon. it just drives home the fact i am already way behind on everything i need to do. i think that is what living 18 years on a farm taught me. there is always something to fucking do. and time waits for no one.
the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Philadelphia, 20-10. of course, in the grand scheme of things it meant nothing as they were later eliminated from making the playoffs. oh well, at least they made the last week of the season interesting for the NFC. the Eagles still haven't clinched the top seed yet.
the New York Rangers won yesterday at Florida, 5-3. they play tomorrow at home against Carolina.
George & Tammy was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

so, the betting yesterday didn't go so well for me. my 49ers parlay almost hit, but the Raiders ended up tying the game near the end, which made it impossible for the 49ers to win by more than 6.5 points. i then took a flyer on a free bet on the Buffalo Sabres. they lost to Ottawa, 3-1. so, in my final bets of the night, i took an easy gamble on the Bengals tonight that they won't be shutout. and i felt a little frisky so i took Brentford to beat Liverpool today. and HOLY SHIT, they defeated them 3-1. i took Brentford at +450, so my free $25 bet paid out $112.50. so, i feel much better now.
i did listen to episode 428 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can hear that by going here:
team USA plays Germany today at the World Juniors. hopefully the boys will win and advance.
i do have the Winter Classic on right now. Bruins vs. Penguins from Fenway Park.
the New York Knicks play today at home against Phoenix.
here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:
i'm sure i will watch some college football games at some point today. and i will probably watch some of the game tonight between the Bills and Bengals.
not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. i know at some point i will probably be going to the bank and probably Rite Aid to pick up a prescription. at least there shouldn't be the clusterfuck with my health insurance this year.
i hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to 2023.

where to begin... yesterday was damn near perfect. one fucking point away from one of those days and nights i would remember until i was dead. you already know about the Manchester United victory yesterday, so let's pick up where we left off.
the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at Davidson, 69-55.
team USA defeated Finland yesterday, 6-2, at the World Juniors. that means the USA won Group B and will face Germany in the quarterfinals.
the New York Knicks won last night at Houston, 108-88.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
now, the only blemish from last night. Ohio State lost to Georgia, 42-41. Ohio State missed a field goal with 8 seconds left that would have won the game and gave them the chance to win the national championship against TCU, who upset Michigan in the first semifinal. this is one of those losses that will keep me up at night for years.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be George & Tammy.
the New Orleans Saints play today at Philadelphia. if the Saints lose, they will be eliminated from playoff contention.
the New York Rangers play today at the Florida Panthers.
so, roughly about 10 minutes after Ohio State lost last night, i placed my first legal bet on Draft Kings. since i have 8 free $25 bets to use by January 7th, i figure i might as well start now. if i get this parlay bet on the 49ers to hit today, the payout is $118.75.
a big thank to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:
so, Christmas went pretty good yesterday. i think mom really liked what i got her. we had some really good food yesterday as well. now here is where the dysfunction kicked in. i took her blood pressure last night and for the first time in eons, it was where it was supposed to be. her first thought was that she was dying. that stunned me and i am a pessimist most of the time. for her to react to good news like that on Christmas was baffling to me. but, this does explain why anytime i get good news i'm always looking for when the other shoe to drop instead of enjoying it.
the New York Knicks lost yesterday at home to Philadelphia, 119-112.

so, i wanted to get out into the world this morning, but my bad back said nope. so, after a nice long icing and nap, i did manage to get out and do some shopping today. i went to Rite Aid to pick up some prescriptions. 2 of the 3 were ready. they wanted me to wait for the 3rd one. i told them i'll come back tomorrow for it. i had already spent nearly a half hour waiting in line already. i then went to Menards to try to find some things. i did find just about everything i was looking for. and i kept it under $40. i needed to get some gas. i did that at Speedway. and then i had to go to Kroger. mom had pills ready and i needed to get something for lunch as it was approaching 5 PM. and people wonder why i eat a big breakfast everyday. all in all, it was a pretty productive day for me.
i did write 3 poems yesterday. i was pretty pleased with them when i typed them up. i know where i am sending those. i need to write some more, which i will be hopefully doing soon.
the New York Rangers won last night in Chicago, 7-1. they are absolutely rolling right now.

so, i woke up this morning and saw that the snow started sticking last night. i knew it must have been as some fucker did some donuts in the cul-de-sac last night. i put on some coffee and got ready to watch the World Cup final. when Argentina got up 2-0, i thought for sure they were going to win the game in regulation. silly me. France scored twice in the second half (90 seconds apart) to tie the game at 2. the game went to extra time. Messi scored his second for Argentina to put them in the lead. Kylian Mbappe scored his 3rd for France to eventually send the game to penalty kicks. Argentina won the penalty kicks 4-2. this was by far the most entertaining World Cup final i think i have ever watched. and honestly, it ends the debate of who is the greatest of all time. Messi winning the World Cup trumps everything.
now let's rewind back to yesterday. i did manage to get mom's Christmas gifts wrapped. i did watch a bit of all 3 NFL games yesterday. quite the choke job from the Colts. and it was great to see the snow game last night between Buffalo and Miami.
the Dayton Flyers finally won a game outside of the UD Arena yesterday. they defeated Wyoming in Chicago, 66-49.
the New York Rangers won last night in Philadelphia, 6-3. they play tonight in Chicago.
Saturday Night Live was great last night. Cecily Strong will be missed.

so, today has been a bunch of hurry up and wait. i made it to the post office this morning. it can get pretty busy in the mornings, especially around the holidays. at least they had both registers going. that made it a bit faster. but, all the Christmas cards are now out there. if you are a lucky one, you should have some mail in the next few days. after that, i went to Rite Aid to get my prescription. thankfully, there was no line there. now, for mom's dental appointment, that was an adventure. we had to go to this office building we had never been to before. thankfully, i usually insist on being early to everything. we got there with a good 15 minutes to spare. we found the office and mom had paperwork to fill out. she didn't do it online as she has been sick for so long. so, she got that filled out and then we waited. they called her back 30 minutes after her appointment time to take her x-ray and meet with the dentist. i wish i would have thought to bring pen and paper with me. i sat out in the waiting room hoping the Yankees were going to announce a signing today. still waiting on that one. mom got finished and i drove her home as i still had to eat lunch. nothing like a late lunch around 5. joy.
the New York Knicks won yesterday at home against Sacramento, 112-99.

i got the Christmas trees up last night. as usual, i was trying to watch wrestling and mom wanted me to help her clean and get all the holiday shit out. i started laughing, wondered what happened to we're just going to do a little bit this year. then she broke one of the frames i had an autographed picture in. and right there is the dysfunction of my youth i remember why i have hated all these fucking holidays. joy.
i got up this morning and swept the leaves (at least most of them) out of the garage. i also fixed the lightbulb on the garage door opener. that had been out for months, but with the Highlander now fixed, i could move it out of the garage and switch out lightbulbs.

so, here was my day at Rite Aid today. i got a text saying my prescription was ready. i put air in the left front tire and went to Rite Aid. the line wasn't too bad and i got the prescription for no charge. i got back in the Highlander and realized, it wasn't the pills i was expecting. i was expecting the pills i ran out of yesterday. so, i went back into the store. the line was now twice as long, but both registers were being operated. i got back up to the counter and was told the pills i needed would be ready in about 10 minutes. not sure why i couldn't be told that 15 minutes earlier when i was in line the first time. oh well. i finally got the pills i ran out of yesterday and left the store. i pride myself at being as patient as i can be. and honestly, if i wasn't, i would be in jail for murder. i just don't have the time for incompetence. it drives me fucking insane.
at the World Cup Today, Croatia beat Japan on penalty kicks, 1-1 (3-1). Brazil put on a show and defeated South Korea, 4-1. Brazil vs. Croatia should be a fascinating game. tomorrow at the World Cup, Morocco plays Spain and Portugal takes on Switzerland.
