so, as i was finishing up the blog yesterday, some kind of miracle was taking place. i wanted to wait to write about it as i knew i couldn't do it justice at the end of yesterday's blog.
Manchester United was trailing Manchester City 1-0 until the 88th minute. Amad got tackled in the box and it was an obvious penalty. Bruno stepped up and scored to make it 1-1. less than 2 minutes later, Amad made a great run behind and Lisandro Martinez made a great pass. a little flick from Amad to go around the keeper and some more foolish defending from City and it was 2-1 United. they held on win the derby and the town is now red again. given that the day started with Rashford and Garnacho being told to stay home, this will go down as the day Ruben Amorim truly made his marker as the next great Manchester United coach. i'm really hoping this will galvanize the club and the march up the table will now begin.
the New York Rangers lost at St. Louis last night, 3-2.
i did watch Joker: Folie a Deux last night. i thought it was better than what most people thought, but clearly a fever dream in an acid trip with some music. parts of it i really liked and parts of it i was basically falling asleep. let's just say, i didn't keep it on the DVR.
The Agency was excellent last night.
Dexter: Original Sin was good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and the series finale of What We Do in the Shadows.
there are two NFL games tonight. i doubt i watch much of either.
i did make a trip to the bank today to make a deposit.
it has been raining all day it seems. i did get a nice long nap in this morning with some ice on my back.
the New Orleans Saints lost at home to Washington yesterday, 20-19. at least the Saints made it interesting late.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.
i'm still waiting on 2 gifts for my mother to show up. at least i know both are in the United States, so that's a good sign.
and i think the stuff i sent in the mail actually got to where it was supposed to go today.
i did get 3 Christmas cards in the mail today. that was unexpected.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i didn't get to sleep until 5 AM this morning. so, when i got up around 10:45 AM, i was slightly shocked. i don't think i tossed and turned at all while sleeping. amazingly, my back didn't feel like shit either. amazing what a good night of wrestling will do for me.
WWE SummerSlam last night was fucking bonkers. i told my mother, if the first match goes the way i expect, this show is going to have a bit of everything. so, when Dirty Dom turned and helped Liv Morgan and they kissed after screwing Rhea Ripley, i knew this show was going to be fucking crazy. to see how it started to having Roman Reigns come back to the babyface pop that WWE has wanted him to get for over a decade now, just pure fucking perfection. hats off to HHH for making the show feel like it was a mini WrestleMania. just fucking great.
AEW Collision was good last night.
the Yankees won yesterday at home over Toronto, 8-3. hopefully, they will win the series today. they are currently down 2-0.
Manchester United lost last night against Liverpool, 3-0. thank god i didn't watch that.

i had to take yet another package back to return for mom today. this time i had to take it to the Dollar General in town for FedEx to pick up tomorrow. i told her i'm getting tired of returning shit that she buys and then decides she doesn't want.
at some point tonight, i need to figure out which poems are going where. if i have any luck, i'll actually get my pain to subside for a bit to do that.
i need to go make dinner so that's all for me kids.
i hope everyone has a great weekend.
we had a cold front come through with the storms last night, so it feels like winter again here. joy.

so, today has been a bunch of hurry up and wait. i made it to the post office this morning. it can get pretty busy in the mornings, especially around the holidays. at least they had both registers going. that made it a bit faster. but, all the Christmas cards are now out there. if you are a lucky one, you should have some mail in the next few days. after that, i went to Rite Aid to get my prescription. thankfully, there was no line there. now, for mom's dental appointment, that was an adventure. we had to go to this office building we had never been to before. thankfully, i usually insist on being early to everything. we got there with a good 15 minutes to spare. we found the office and mom had paperwork to fill out. she didn't do it online as she has been sick for so long. so, she got that filled out and then we waited. they called her back 30 minutes after her appointment time to take her x-ray and meet with the dentist. i wish i would have thought to bring pen and paper with me. i sat out in the waiting room hoping the Yankees were going to announce a signing today. still waiting on that one. mom got finished and i drove her home as i still had to eat lunch. nothing like a late lunch around 5. joy.
the New York Knicks won yesterday at home against Sacramento, 112-99.
here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:
the season finale of The White Lotus was amazing last night.
the season finale of Let The Right One In was shocking last night.

i'm still waiting on one package to show up to have all of mom's Christmas gifts here. Amazon keeps telling me it will be here before Christmas. considering i ordered it in November and it still hasn't shipped yet isn't giving me much confidence.

so, here's the story. i cut my finger last night and it bled like a motherfucker. i put some Neosporin on it and got the wrap as tight as possible. i waited for mom to wake up this morning to take the wrap off. sure enough, the fucker was still bleeding. so, i said fuck it, let me go to urgent care. the closest one to me is near where i get my hair cut. the waiting room was packed. of course, everyone was getting a COVID test. i put my name on the list and waited, all the while holding my bleeding finger up. mind you, it was my middle finger i cut. after 1 hour, i finally got called up to fill out paperwork and then bring up my ID and insurance card. 30 minutes later, i was getting my cards back. the lady at the desk then called me up 10 minutes later to ask if i did this at home or on the job. i told her at home. she was thrilled, as that meant no worker's comp papers. 15 minutes later, i got called to come on back. the doctor came in and said since it was past 8 hours, he couldn't stitch me up. but, he could cauterize it. i told him i had a high pain tolerance. he didn't believe me. now, i could feel the procedure going on, but i never flinched or moved. he was sort of impressed. i then got a Tetanus shot. my last one expired about 2 weeks ago. just my luck. the woman that gave me the shot reminded me of this girl i went to high school with. we used to joke all the time about getting married one day. sadly, that never happened. so, i happened to forget to take my phone with me this morning. so i got back home to 7 texts from my mother and sister wondering what was going on. mom never realized the phone was by my massage chair. i ate a little lunch and went to the local grocery store. i figure i will do the bigger stores tomorrow. (i wanted to do them tonight, but i think mom would have been beyond pissed off.)
so, i basically have this black spot now on my middle finger. all i'm hoping is it leaves a really good scar.
NXT was really good last night. i can't wait for next week's show.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:

so, i was really looking forward to the World Juniors tonight. sadly, because of COVID, the whole tournament just got cancelled. oh well.
the New York Rangers finally play again tonight, at Florida. i'm hoping the Rangers find a way to win.
i will probably do the blog early tomorrow as i know Manchester United plays in the afternoon and i have no clue if i will get all the grocery shopping done before that match happens.
i did get some baseball cards today at Rite Aid. so i'll be opening those up in a bit.

so, i had a pain last night in my back that was like an axe being thrown between my shoulder blades and being left there for hours. thankfully, i took a shower last night while buzzed on some alcohol and that seemed to do the trick.
mom's chest pains were basically stress. that and the fact that Dayton almost blew a 20 point lead last night in the last 6 minutes of the game against Southern.
Dayton defeated Southern last night, 69-60. Dayton had 21 turnovers in the game and that almost cost them the game. they definitely need to clean that up if they want to be good in the A10 this season.
NXT was pretty good last night.
i did catch a little of the NFL games last night.

so, mom was in some pain last night. her left leg has been killing her. i think it is probably because her back is fucked up and most likely pinching a nerve and it is running down her leg. so, she told me to make her a drink that was strong. i gave her a shot of Kraken and Disaronno that set her mouth on fire. then, i went to my go to for something strong, Wild Turkey 101 with some Coke Zero. she said she slept pretty good though she did have to shit in the middle of the night. i told her welcome to the life of an alcoholic. good times.
the Yankees won a crazy game last night, 3-2 in 11 innings over Seattle. the Yankees didn't have a starter for the game so they became the first team in MLB history to win an extra inning game without having 1 pitcher go more than 2 innings in the game. so, of course, that means their bullpen will be short today. great. hopefully, they will find a way to win again.
Smackdown was pretty good last night. i didn't get to watch 205 Live last night since i watched the gold medal game instead. i have no damn clue why they don't archive those episodes immediately like they do other things for WWE on Peacock. of course, given the releases last night from NXT, i could see 205 Live going away soon.
the USA men's basketball team won the gold last night by defeating France, 87-82.
Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty funny last night.

anytime the Dayton Flyers took the lead against Memphis yesterday in the second half of their NIT game, they would immediately shit the bed. that is a recipe on how to fucking lose. Dayton lost, 71-60. i think Memphis finished the game on a 15-2 run. thank god this season is now over.
ROH was really good last night.

so, 3 of the teams i live and die with will be playing today. at noon, 12:30 and 2 this afternoon. i suppose today is the day i give my blood pressure a workout.
at noon, Ohio State plays at Michigan State. i am hoping Ohio State, who will be short-handed and without their head coach today, finds a way to win this game and keep their undefeated season going.
at 12:30, Manchester United will be playing. they really need a victory today after that debacle midweek against PSG. now, they are playing at West Ham, so it will not be easy.
at 2 this afternoon, the Dayton Flyers play at home against SMU. i'll be watching the game on ESPN+. i'm really hoping Dayton plays much better than they did in their first game.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.
mom decided she wanted pizza last night for dinner. luckily, i had that free coupon from Pizza Hut to use, so i did. we got a large pizza that would have cost us $21 for FREE. of course, i had to get a bunch of other stuff to have it delivered, but that was fine. the sweets i got we had for breakfast this morning. and what is leftover will be either lunch or dinner today.
