 mom did me no favors by staying up all night. i was hoping to get the grocery shopping done and be back here, etc. etc. instead, she fell asleep when i woke up this morning at 6:30 AM. she thinks she might have cancer. she also thinks she is dying. fun times.

been a long day...

 for some damn reason, i was up at 6:30 this morning. i didn't want to be, i know that for sure. i had to get mom up at 9 so she would ready for her hair appointment this afternoon. i dropped her off there and went to the bank to make a deposit. after i did that, i went to Meijer to look for some baseball cards. my goal was to spend under $40. i got 4 packs and some NBA cards for $32. sadly, there wasn't much good in the packs. of course, that is the danger of buying retail. after that, i went back to where mom was getting her hair cut. she must have had around 6 inches cut off. i told her that should feel much better in this heat. once she paid, we went to Kroger, which is basically across the street. she had pills ready and so did i. i thought i was going to get a better discount on the Rybelsus. the first two times i got it, it was $74. this time, it was $237. as i told my mother, ah, capitalism. so, instead of $300 off like the first two times, this time was around $130. sadly, nothing surprises me anymore. this was mom's first time in Kroger since they had remodeled. i think she could tell i was being honest when i told her it would be sensory overload her first time in there. we went back home and i finally had some lunch; roughly 8 hours after i had breakfast. 

the Yankees won last night at Texas, 8-4. hopefully, they will do it again tonight.

now this is the weather i love...

 it has been a sunny day here. not hot, so i could actually open up the house and let the light breeze in. these are the days where i would love to fall asleep in the sun for a few hours and truly relax. i did make it to the bank today. i drove around a bit afterwards, just allowing my mind to escape a bit i guess. plus, there is enough construction around here, i have to go all these different ways to everything it seems.

the Yankees lost yesterday at Cleveland, 8-7, in 10 innings. they start a series tonight at Toronto.

i spent most of yesterday going through some baseball cards that the girl that grew up next to me had as she is moving. i guess her now ex-husband left them behind. she wanted to know if there was anything good in them. there was probably close to a thousand cards, all sports. if they would have been in better shape, there would have been plenty worth some money. i told her i found about 50 of them that she could probably sell and get a little money for. the highlight was definitely the Shaquille O'Neal rookie card.

a decent start to the day...

 so, i kind of forgot that Manchester United was playing early this morning. i got up in time for the game but i only watched the last 20 minutes or so. thankfully, Bruno scored in the 91st minute at Fulham to win the game for United, 1-0.

it was like i was on a scavenger hunt...

 so, we get this dairy supplement that Rite Aid makes as it helps to make sure anytime i eat dairy i don't suddenly have diarrhea. we usually can find it in bottles with 125 pills in it. well, they have become suddenly scarce in the last few weeks. so, i opened the last box the other night and decided to go out today and try to find some. now, i went to the Brookville store and there was no sight of them but they had the same pills in a 32 count box and were selling those as buy 1 get 1 50% off. i checked the ingredients and they were the same pills i normally use. then i checked the shelves to see if even the 125 pill box was even listed anywhere. it wasn't. that was the same for the New Lebanon Rite Aid and the Englewood Rite Aid. i wasn't driving to the Vandalia one as i knew i had other shit to do today. so, i ended up buying 4 boxes in total and since Englewood didn't have any, i got some baseball and football cards there. i got an autographed football card in the football box. a couple of hall of famers in the baseball box. not bad.

the Yankees lost last night at Toronto, 6-0. they start a series tonight in Kansas City. final 3 games of the season.

i did catch some of the NFL game last night. i guess the Lions are for real and last week, the Saints must have beat the Saints as i'm further convinced that the fucking Packers didn't.

Big Brother was very good last night. Cameron is back in the game and is the new HOH. this is going to be fun.

a productive Friday...

 so, i got a good amount of things done today. i went to Rite Aid and got my prescription, after that, i went to Big Lots as i had my birthday coupon to use. i got some baseball cards and hockey cards. i spent a little over $30. thankfully, there was more than $30 worth of cards in the packs and boxes. after that, i had to go to the UPS Store to return some shoes for my mother. thankfully, that long ass line moved pretty quick. after that, i went to Meijer as we needed a few things and i had a coupon for one of them. after getting all that done, i made it back home, had lunch and watched a little soccer to take a nap. good times.

i guess this is going to be a snow week...

 we got around 5 inches of snow yesterday, at least that is what the guy that does our driveway said. Wednesday, we're supposed to get another 6 inches or so. fuck me. so yeah, grocery day will be tomorrow. i can just imagine the shit show i will be trying to shop in.

so, let me get to what went on yesterday. Manchester United lost to Arsenal, 3-2. that was a fucking gut punch since Arsenal scored basically at the death to win the game. if i didn't have a rooting interest in the game, that would have been the type of game you show to someone who isn't into soccer to turn them into a fan for life. and the reason you do that is so they can feel the pain or joy of what it means to be a fan. 

i did watch both NFL games yesterday. the Bengals whipped Buffalo, 27-10. the 49ers beat Dallas, 19-12. i didn't win nearly enough money as i wanted to yesterday. i was hoping that a few parlays would hit and nothing really did. i think i made less than $30. fuck me.

 right as i was going to start writing this blog, the breaking news came across that Pele has died. needless to say, he was one of the greatest to EVER play soccer. i have seen the old tapes of him playing, and he simply put, was a fucking genius. i know a nation is weeping and millions of fans are as well. rest in peace, Pele. you have earned ever single word of praise and then some.

team USA lost yesterday at the World Juniors to Slovakia, 6-3. they play Switzerland today in a game they really need to win.

what a crazy start to the weekend...

 so, i was up early this morning and got myself to the dealership about 10 minutes before my appointment. 90 fucking minutes later, the new tire was put on the Highlander. at least that bullshit is over with. after that, i went to Big Lots. mom wanted me to look for some slippers for her and i was looking for some baseball cards. i got 3 packs of 2022 Topps Series 2. didn't find any slippers for her. after that, i had to go to Kroger to pick up a prescription for my mother. thankfully, i got there before they took their lunch break. when i got back to the Highlander, i noticed that Croatia and Brazil was going to penalty kicks. i started to race home, hoping i would get to see a little bit of that. by the time i got in the garage, i saw the news.

Croatia stunned Brazil today at the World Cup, beating them 1-1 (4-2) on penalty kicks. i did get the chance to watch the second game. that was another holy shit affair. Argentina built a 2 goal lead only to watch the Netherlands score 2 late goals to send the game to extra time. the game went to penalty kicks and Argentina won, 2-2 (4-3). Croatia vs. Argentina in the World Cup semifinal should be an entertaining war.

i've got my final load of laundry in the washer. i did go through the baseball cards. i got a few good ones today.

did some shopping today...

 so, i did go to Rite Aid this morning. they had my prescription ready. thankfully, they weren't busy either. i took mom to her appointment to get her bloodwork done. thankfully, that went quick as well. after that, mom wanted to go to Lowe's. now, she doesn't have her glasses yet, so this is basically me taking a blind person to shop. we did find everything we needed at Lowe's. thankfully, i had a gift card on me as well. that took a good $50 off of the bill. i took mom back home and then i went to Big Lots. i had two coupons to use. amazingly, they did have some baseball cards in stock. i got 4 packs of baseball cards and 1 pack of hockey cards. mom had me look for some cheap tablecloths for her to use while working with the plants. i found 2 of them and after my coupons, i got all that for $27. the cards made up for that amount. 

so, i missed the USWNT match today against England. i heard the USA lost 2-1, although the second goal the USA scored was taken away by a ridiculous VAR call. but, it was a friendly... i think England is one of the better teams out there on the women's side.

sorry once again to my 8 year old self...

 today was a cloudy, gloomy fucking day for sure. add in some arthritis and back pain and then some grocery shopping, and you can just imagine. so, i thought i had a good day of shopping. but, once i got home from Kroger, that thought quickly faded. i bought 5 Renuzits at Kroger. there was only 4 in the bag when i got home. and on top of that, 2 of the eggs i got were cracked. now, i know damn well they weren't cracked when i got them at the store. put all that together with some constant pain and you will quickly understand why these are the days i think of when i was 8 and first thought of suicide. you're right little buddy, death was the simplest option of all. and my stubborn fucking ass is going to pay for it until i finally give in and say yes.

the Yankees won last night at Toronto, 5-2. that clinches their first division title since 2019. they will have the 2 seed in the American League playoffs and home field advantage for at least that first round. Judge walked 4 times last night. he still leads in the triple crown race. hopefully, he fucking homers tonight.

NXT was very good last night.

The Voice was good last night.

the season finale of Deadliest Catch (at least from the series in Alaska) was very good. i believe there is still more episodes to go on the footage from Norway.

mom asked for a little alcohol in her Diet Coke last night and apparently when she gets something 110 proof, she's able to sleep for hours and hours. if i try doing that, i am at the stage where i might as well just drink myself to death. hello Dylan Thomas, one day my friend...

i'm not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. probably the afternoon, but who the fuck knows.

i have watched a little of the first two New York Rangers preseason games the last two nights. a win over the Islanders and a loss in OT to the Bruins. i really like how some of the kids are looking. i hope this is going to be the start of one of those seasons to remember.

i finally figured out how to put my iPhone on silent mode last night. i had no choice since the volume on some of the sounds was just going fucking nuts.

i did get some baseball cards today. i got a few decent rookies in the packs i got, along with one Shohei Ohtani card.
