it all goes well until the back says hold my beer...

 i was having a pretty productive morning, which was kind of surprising since mom had one of those dreams where she woke up with a scream at 4 in the morning bitching about frogs in her shoes. of course, i wasn't asleep yet, mostly because i never feel comfortable going to sleep until i know she is actually asleep. fun times. so yeah, i got a few things done this morning and sure enough, my bad back decided it wanted all the attention. so, i iced my back down and put on some tennis. i figured that would put me to sleep. i got almost two hours. joy.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday in St. Louis, 5-1. they start a series tonight at home against Baltimore.

the USMNT defeated Trinidad & Tobago 6-0 last night to win their group in the Gold Cup.

The Righteous Gemstones last night was fucking hilarious.

i'm not really happy that the New York Knicks are trading Obi Toppin to the Pacers. i am happy for Obi though, as he is going to a team that might actually know how to use him better. so, i guess i will be a Pacers fan now.

we had the windows open last night after the storms went through. the fucking fireworks were close enough that if i was a war veteran i would have taken cover and grabbed a weapon. should be a fun next couple of days.

i had to go to the local grocery store to get a few things for tomorrow. potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad and i got an apple pie as well. and of course, by the time i got home and started eating lunch, Rite Aid texted me for the prescription i ran out of this morning. good times.

i did watch a little of the NASCAR race yesterday.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow in the morning. 

dinner tonight is going to be eggs and bacon. i figured we haven't done breakfast for dinner in a few months now.

a decent way to start the morning...

 first off, a computer update. last time, it was a thumb drive that cured the noise. this time, it was a shut down and reboot. at least i didn't have to hear the noise overnight.

i was up in time this morning to see Manchester United play Wolves. United won the game, 2-0. they desperately needed that win.

the New York Yankees won last night at home over Tampa, 6-5.

the New York Knicks lost last night at Miami, 96-92. Miami will play the winner of the Celtics and 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

 i was in the ice cream aisle at the grocery store today and i took a step towards my shopping cart and immediately felt my back tell me to fuck off. thankfully, i was close enough where i could just put my back in one of the freezers for a few seconds, hoping to relieve the pain. that is one thing i hate about having a bad back. just one fucking wrong step and it is hours of pure fucking misery.

it is getting harder to enjoy the pain...

 between my arthritis, bad back and every other fucking thing under the sun failing me, life isn't exactly enjoyable these days. and i am trying my best to relax, take deep breaths, settle my mind in a positive place, but that is like swimming upstream in a river of shit. when the writing isn't going well, i often compare it to squeezing water out of a rock. i'm not sure what i'll do if that becomes actually my life. 

and with all that in mind, i did write 5 poems yesterday while mom was in her physical therapy session. so, at least the physical pain hasn't touched my brain yet. i typed the poems up when we got back home. i think they are pretty good. i have a couple places in mind to send them to in the next week or so.

 i often think of my creative process like a child goes out for a swim and you patiently wait for the child to come back to shore. most of the time, the child makes it back. it gets more interesting when the child doesn't. then, the creative process becomes this adventure. i have multiple poems swimming around my head. they tend to make it to shore around 3 AM. and people wonder why i don't sleep much...
