one of those days where there is just enough rain that my back is a stubborn old fuck that won't respond to ice, heat, stretching, etc. but, i don't have the option to just do nothing on a day like this. so, at least my fucking pain tolerance still exists. i did make it to the bank today. other than a nap in the chair, that has been the one thing i got done.
i did write 5 poems yesterday while mom was in her physical therapy session. i typed those up and i think i have enough to get some poems out into the world. that will be the goal for this weekend.

between my arthritis, bad back and every other fucking thing under the sun failing me, life isn't exactly enjoyable these days. and i am trying my best to relax, take deep breaths, settle my mind in a positive place, but that is like swimming upstream in a river of shit. when the writing isn't going well, i often compare it to squeezing water out of a rock. i'm not sure what i'll do if that becomes actually my life.
and with all that in mind, i did write 5 poems yesterday while mom was in her physical therapy session. so, at least the physical pain hasn't touched my brain yet. i typed the poems up when we got back home. i think they are pretty good. i have a couple places in mind to send them to in the next week or so.
the New York Yankees won last night at home against Oakland, 7-2. hopefully, they will win again tonight.

the New York Yankees were up 6-0 yesterday at Tampa and had Gerrit Cole on the mound. to say i was pissed when the Yankees lost yesterday, 8-7, in 10 innings, would be an understatement. the Yankees start a series at home tonight against Oakland.

so, i was really hoping i was going to be talking about a Rangers victory today. instead, i was shaving off my beard last night, wondering yet again, what the fuck happened. the Rangers lost last night at New Jersey, 4-0, to lose the series 4-3. judging from the postgame comments, i really think the Rangers are going to have to make some changes to the team. and that is going to be difficult as they have some big name big price players that need to move and there won't be many teams willing to do anything unless the Rangers will be eating some of the contracts. so, i'm going to be really curious to see what Chris Drury does this summer to the roster. it is painfully obvious, they need more will and less skill as that skill never fucking showed up in the playoffs.
the New York Yankees are now inventing ways to lose. they were up 2-0 last night on Cleveland and Aaron Boone needlessly took out his starter after 88 pitches to go to his closer and sure enough, Cleveland scored 3 runs in the 9th to win, 3-2. between the injuries, bad luck and incompetence, the Yankees are in last place in the division. joy.

i love when a series gets to a Game 7. now, i have been on both sides of the outcomes. it is always amazing when your team wins a Game 7. it is absolutely brutal when your team loses one. those are the sports scars that last forever. hopefully, tonight will be one of those great memories when the New York Rangers play at New Jersey. both road teams won last night in Game 7. i hope that continues tonight.

so, i didn't get to bed until 5 AM. i did the dishes after i watched the shows last night and then sent those poems out. eventually, my brain gave up and i fell asleep around 5. little did i know, mom didn't fall asleep until around 5 as well. so, when i was chowing down breakfast at 11:30 this morning, knowing that i had to get her to her physical therapy at 1 this afternoon; she was on the phone cancelling her appointment as most of her breakfast ended up as vomit in the trash can. i was getting ready when she told me she wasn't going. that set off a nice chain of events with my body, as i tried to slow all the processes down, if you know what i mean. that didn't work. so, after a few memorable moments on the toilet, i took a nap this afternoon and think i'm back on the tracks. as for my mother, i think she is still asleep. i figure she needs it.

i did do a little poetry work today. i will be sending some poems out tonight, most likely.
Manchester United won yesterday in the FA Cup semifinal over Brighton. the match went scoreless for 120 minutes. then, United won the penalty kick shootout, 7-6. that sets up the first EVER Manchester derby for the FA Cup title. that will happen in June.
the New York Yankees lost to Toronto yesterday, 5-1. first series of the season they have lost. they start a series tonight at Minnesota.
the New York Knicks won yesterday at home over Cleveland, 102-93. the Knicks are now up 3-1 in the series.

if all goes well, i won't be shaving again until sometime in June. now, i started doing this back in the 90's and got to see one glorious run to the Stanley Cup in 1994. the beard i can grow now is light years better than what i could grow back then. that is saying something since i have been shaving since the age of 12. so, i hope tonight the New York Rangers start the journey to winning another Stanley Cup.
