it all goes well until the back says hold my beer...

i was having a pretty productive morning, which was kind of surprising since mom had one of those dreams where she woke up with a scream at 4 in the morning bitching about frogs in her shoes. of course, i wasn't asleep yet, mostly because i never feel comfortable going to sleep until i know she is actually asleep. fun times. so yeah, i got a few things done this morning and sure enough, my bad back decided it wanted all the attention. so, i iced my back down and put on some tennis. i figured that would put me to sleep. i got almost two hours. joy.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday in St. Louis, 5-1. they start a series tonight at home against Baltimore.

the USMNT defeated Trinidad & Tobago 6-0 last night to win their group in the Gold Cup.

The Righteous Gemstones last night was fucking hilarious.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.

i did listen to episode 454 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:

i'm not really happy that the New York Knicks are trading Obi Toppin to the Pacers. i am happy for Obi though, as he is going to a team that might actually know how to use him better. so, i guess i will be a Pacers fan now.

we had the windows open last night after the storms went through. the fucking fireworks were close enough that if i was a war veteran i would have taken cover and grabbed a weapon. should be a fun next couple of days.

i had to go to the local grocery store to get a few things for tomorrow. potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad and i got an apple pie as well. and of course, by the time i got home and started eating lunch, Rite Aid texted me for the prescription i ran out of this morning. good times.

i did watch a little of the NASCAR race yesterday.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow in the morning.

dinner tonight is going to be eggs and bacon. i figured we haven't done breakfast for dinner in a few months now.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:

trying to find the light in a dark world...

so, i was already in a pissy mood this morning after getting up early to watch Manchester United shit the bed against Everton. and then my mood turned to sadness. i saw the news that Dwayne Haskins died this morning in Florida. 3 weeks before his 25th birthday. so damn tragic. rest in peace.

Manchester United lost at Everton, 1-0. at this rate, United is going to struggle to finish in the top 10 of the league.

ok, now some positive shit. the Yankees never had the lead yesterday against Boston until the 11th inning. of course, that was the only time they needed to have the lead. the Yankees won, 6-5 in 11 innings. Rizzo, Stanton and DJ hit home runs. Josh Donaldson had the winning single in his first game as a Yankee. hopefully, they will find a way to win this afternoon. i did see what the Yankees offered Aaron Judge. i think the offer was fair but i don't mind Aaron betting on himself and trying to get a better deal out of them. now, if he thinks he is getting the Mike Trout deal, i'd love to be smoking what he is obviously smoking.

i got some football cards at Rite Aid yesterday. there were a few decent cards in the box. i really liked the one Justin Fields rookie card in it.

Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.

AEW Rampage was fantastic last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty funny last night.

A Black Lady Sketch Show was fucking hilarious last night.

here are your three videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Ottawa. if the Rangers win, they will clinch a playoff spot. a win would also give them 100 points on the season and they would be tied for the division lead.

the USWNT plays a friendly today against Uzbekistan.

i'm sure i will watch some MLS games today as well.

it did fucking snow this morning a little. nothing really stuck, at least so far.

congrats to Obi Toppin for setting his career high in points last night.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

i should be on here tomorrow by the early afternoon.

the light at the end of a storm...

so, Ohio State started yesterday like shit. it was pretty obvious they had a bit of rust to shake off. thankfully, they did that at halftime apparently. they went into halftime trailing Northwestern 10-6. the defense wouldn't allow Northwestern to score again on the day. and the offense turned to Trey Sermon. he ended up rushing for 331 yards yesterday. that broke Eddie George's record at Ohio State for most rushing yards in a game. it also set the record for most rushing yards in any conference championship game. Ohio State won 22-10. hopefully, they will be in the 4 team college playoff. that info comes out at noon today.

the Dayton Flyers started off really cold yesterday against Ole Miss. i think it had as much to do with the defense Ole Miss was playing as anything. thankfully, Dayton overcame a 7 point halftime deficit to win yesterday, 65-62. between Crutcher, Chatman and Watson, they had 55 of their 65 points. i'm really hoping Dayton develops some solid bench options before this season is over.

ROH was really good last night.

Saturday Night Live was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Power Book II: Ghost, Shameless and Your Honor. i'll be watching WWE TLC for most of the evening.

Manchester United takes on Leeds here in a bit. this brings back some memories of hate from my youth. good times. hopefully, the boys find a way to win today.

the New Orleans Saints play today at home against the Chiefs. Drew Brees is back for the Saints. i honestly think they will have to play a near perfect game to beat the Chiefs.

the Obi Toppin card i ordered when got drafted by the Knicks came yesterday. it was numbered 1 of 1,019. i was thrilled when i saw that.

i hope everyone had a good Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

i finally found what i was looking for...

i had to go out and get my prescription today, so i figured i would look for some baseball cards at the Rite-Aid near the Kroger where the pharmacy i use is. well, holy shit. i found some baseball cards, some football cards and some basketball cards. this is the first time i have ever found these basketball cards. and sure enough, the Obi Toppin rookie card i had been looking for, i found in one of the packs.

the New Orleans Saints played down to their competition yesterday and fucking lost to a shitty Eagles team, 24-21. and since Green Bay won, the Saints no longer have the #1 seed in the NFC. just fucking great.

Power Book II: Ghost was really good last night.

Shameless was hilarious last night.

Your Honor was really good last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking great last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, night 1 of the season finale of The Voice and Industry. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i did listen to episode 321 of Notsam Wrestling this afternoon. you can listen to that by going here:

i've been up since 5 this morning. i got mom to her appointment on time, at least the time she thought it started. she was supposed to be there a hour before that time. thankfully, her colonoscopy went smoothly. the doctor didn't see any polyps this time. i got her some food after the appointment and she has more or less slept the rest of the day. i haven't been so lucky.

i'm toying with doing the grocery shopping tomorrow since we're supposed to have a winter storm on Wednesday.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

a rainy Saturday...

it started raining last night and it is supposed to rain all day here. joy.

i did take mom out last night to see some Christmas lights. she was happy.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

i did see the highlights of Obi Toppin's first game last night.

i guess i'm doing laundry today and i will sent out some poems today.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live, ROH and The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.

Manchester United plays Manchester City today. i'd love for United to find a way to win this one, but i'm not holding my breath.

later in the afternoon, (the game time got changed last night) Dayton will be playing Mississippi St. down in Atlanta. i'd love to see Dayton find a way to win this one, but i don't see that happening either.

the MLS Cup final is tonight. Seattle plays at Columbus. the Crew will be missing two of their better players, so it's going to take a minor miracle for them to win their second championship tonight.

i'll be sending out 8 poems this afternoon between loads of laundry.

i'm hoping the orders from Amazon.com show up today. that would be nice.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

so, i guess i'm rooting for the Knicks now...

Obi Toppin was drafted #8 last night, to the New York Knicks. you could tell from the emotion he was showing, going back home was a dream for him. he's from Brooklyn, and that's part of the reason i didn't want him to go to the Knicks... all the pressure of being the one to bring that team back to a championship level. of course, Obi is a dude that loves the pressure. so, i'm really hoping he has a season to remember his rookie year. win a few awards and keep being the humble, amazing athlete that has no limits to his abilities.

NXT was really damn good last night.

AEW was awesome last night.

The Masked Singer was a double elimination last night. i didn't get either one right.

I Can See Your Voice was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, B Positive, The Unicorn, Cari & Jemele (Won't) Stick to Sports, Miz & Mrs and Total Bellas. i'll watch NXT UK sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i'll probably watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Cardinals and Seahawks.

i did get my laundry all done today. i also used all the boxes mom got for my baseball cards.

i need to go to the bank and the post office tomorrow as i got the money for my first sale of cards. i know i need to do some shopping tomorrow as well. mom remembered some things she forgot to put on the grocery list. plus, i'd love to get a fucking haircut tomorrow. this mop is driving me nuts.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i get all that done. hopefully, i'll get an early enough start to the day that i won't be running around forever.

the wind made a roaring return today. sounds like there is a fucking train outside of my window. joy.

tonight is the night...

the NBA Draft is tonight. i feel like i have waited for fucking FOREVER to see a player from Dayton get drafted in the top 5. it is certainly possible that Obi Toppin will be drafted in the top 5 tonight. of course, nothing is certain, given the pandemic, etc. etc. all i hope is he goes to a place where he can contribute immediately and be a big time star in the league. that will be free publicity for Dayton for years to come. hell, i know damn well that 3 of the recruits UD signed this year were mostly because of what Obi did while at Dayton.

The Voice was very good last night.

the grocery stores were fucking crazy today. you would think Thanksgiving is tomorrow. my only guess is since the new shutdown orders go into effect tomorrow, people were taking advantage of their last day of freedom, stupid fucks.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NXT, AEW, The Masked Singer and I Can See Your Voice. i'll be watching the NBA Draft for hopefully only a portion of the night.

i'll be on here tomorrow between doing loads of my laundry and putting my baseball cards into better storage. mom got me some boxes that are better than the old shoe boxes i have been using. once i get them all in there, i'm going to figure out how i want to put everything into order and then start selling them.

i know when i wake up from a dream about my father...

it's never a good thing. and it's not often a dream, more of a recollection of a nightmare. and when i start my day off like this, i know a shit storm isn't far behind.

i did do a little poetry work today. i should have a nice batch of submissions tomorrow.

here is your video for this day of National Poetry Month:

thanks for the memories...

Obi Toppin made it official today, declaring for the NBA Draft. any Dayton fan with a brain knew this day was coming. i can't wait to see who drafts him and hopefully he has an amazing NBA career. thanks for the memories Obi, you will go down as one of the greatest in the history of the school.

Dark Side of the Ring was really, really good last night. it was mostly about Chris Benoit and that fucking tragedy, but also talked about Eddie Guerrero as well. so many damn memories of those two in my brain forever. and it's really obvious that the main guy behind the close of the episode was Chris Jericho, easily one of the greatest of all-time. i urge everyone to watch both parts of the episode, it's worth your time. as is the after show, After Dark, hosted by Chris Gethard. all of them are available for free on the VICE YouTube channel.

enjoy some music:

i can't believe i've gone this many days without alcohol. no wonder why i'm irritable.

mom sent me out to get Pizza Hut last night. she likes their wings for some damn reason.

where caution meets panic and the lines are blurred...

i wrote 6 poems today. i was expecting to write them from the waiting room where my mother was getting her injection for her back. instead, the waiting room was only for the patients, everyone else had to wait in their vehicles. i know this is all out of an abundance of caution, but holy shit common sense doesn't fucking exist anymore. so, i did write 6 poems in the Highlander. i typed them up this afternoon. i think they are pretty good. of course, time will tell.

i'm really hoping the shot works for my mother. she doesn't get another one until June.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Voice was good last night. the battle rounds have finally started.

The Plot Against America was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Dark Side of the Ring. i believe they are showing part 1 and 2 of the Chris Benoit story tonight. that should be must watch television for anyone that is a pro wrestling fan.

pour one out for The Gambler...

i am of the age where Kenny Rogers was definitely a part of my childhood. between the late 70's and early 80's, you couldn't escape those songs. i was saddened to see he died overnight. but, with how crazy this fucking world is now, i'm sure he's in a better place. and i want to thank him, as his death woke up the genius in me and the pen found the paper this morning.

i wrote 7 poems this morning, my first poems in over a fucking month. i typed them up and i think most of them are really good. hopefully, i will have a few more poems in me tomorrow.

Smackdown was good last night, as was 205 Live.

The Trade was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

High Maintenance was great last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

well, it did get down to the upper 20's last night. i didn't sleep very well. shocker.

i forgot to mention that Obi Toppin was the only player who was voted unanimous first team All-American yesterday. that was nice to see, even though i'm always going to have the great What If with this fucking season. hopefully he wins more awards and i do hope Coach Grant wins the national coach of the year.

i may have to go to the grocery store tomorrow to return some shit my mother forgot to tell me to return weeks ago. joy.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'm guessing late morning/early afternoon if all goes well.
