 so, it was another one of those nights where i didn't get to bed until 5 in the morning. life gets exhausting sometimes, and i am certainly in that fucking rut. trying to manage my pain and my mother's pain, such a fucking joy.

i got some sleep...

 now, it wasn't as much sleep as i needed, but i'm pretty sure i got a good 5 hours or so. i needed it after yesterday. hell, i took a shower last night and basically fell asleep after i got dressed. good times.

i did take mom to her doctor's appointment today. she is going to get another injection, sometime in March and then start back with physical therapy. after that, we went to Waffle House. first time she actually wanted to eat in public in months. so, that was a bit of a change.

i did pretty good last night in my gambling. nailed my hockey bets and got a few NBA bets right. college basketball didn't go my way last night. oh well. hopefully i will do even better tonight.

i did watch some of the coverage of the shooting at Michigan State last night. i wonder if people truly understand that this shit will always happen since no one gives two shits in this country about mental health or gun violence. as long as everyone should have a fucking gun is the prevalent thought among those in power, then guess what the fuck happens when someone who should never have a gun gets one...

tomorrow should be fucking crazy here. they are finally starting the demolition in mom's bathroom. of course, the vanity won't be here for another two weeks (more of my mother's procrastination), but they are going to at least get the shower done. on top of all that, i need to do the grocery shopping and we have a high wind warning as well. good times.

so, i will probably be on here tomorrow in the late afternoon once again. 

i think it also means i will have to get to bed before 5 AM like i have been doing, so that is all for me kids.

the last day of 2021

 so, i woke up this morning with a poem on my lips. i had the first line or so come to me in a dream i guess. i did get it written and typed up this morning. i figure it is the last poem i will write this year. i know i didn't get what i wanted to get done in 2021 done, mostly because i wasn't expecting my mother to nearly die and i would have to take up so much of my time to take care of her. but, i do think i did a decent job of juggling everything and getting something out there in the poetic world. i think that will become my new normal, at least for the time being.

i did watch plenty of college football last night. i will do the same today as well. the college football playoff semifinals are today. i'm hoping the games will be good.

the grocery shopping yesterday was crazy. it took forever, but i did get everything on the list.

i did get some football cards at Rite Aid yesterday. 2 boxes that costed me $10. thanks to a gold Trevor Lawrence card that goes for $18, there was about $40 worth of cards between the boxes. that's a good way to end 2021.

i was home in time to watch the Manchester United game against Burnley. United won 3-1.

nothing went as planned today

 so, i was supposed to take mom to physical therapy today. after that, she was going to get her bloodwork done. i made that appointment late last night. while she was getting ready this morning, she started feeling sick. and then she had a hard time standing up, even with her walker. so, i had to cancel all the appointments and i gave her a cold washcloth and told her to go to sleep. i'm trying to figure out if it was her rushing this morning that got her sick or was it all she tried to do yesterday and that made her sick today. good times. and now throw in some medical shit with my sister and you can imagine my stress level today.

the Dayton Flyers defeated Virginia Tech yesterday, 62-57. i loved the way Dayton played defense yesterday and when they can actually make shots, they could compete with just about anyone in the country. that being said, they have already proven they can lose to anyone in the country as well. but, this was a huge victory for them.

the New Orleans Saints defeated the New York Jets yesterday, 30-9. i'm so happy that fucking losing streak is over now.

the New York Rangers lost to Nashville last night, 1-0. just one of those games where the goalie steals one.

Axios was good last night.

the season finale of Succession was amazing last night.

Insecure was very good last night. hard to believe there are only 2 episodes left.

well, that was boring...

 i almost wish i would have just chose to sleep this afternoon than watch Manchester United play. 0-0 games are the absolute worse. hell, i know United advances because of what they did in the first leg (4-0) but i really would of loved to see them hammer Real Sociedad today and drive the point home that they really want to win the Europa League. oh well.

so, let me get on my soapbox now. the Dayton Flyers lost at Saint Joe's last night, 97-84. after the game, Dayton's coach took the blame for the loss. i am so fucking sick and tired of Dayton playing down to its competition. why the fuck is their focus every game how they are going to match up against the opponent and not how is the opponent going to match up with them? it blows my fucking mind that they let a team like that last night take over 40 fucking three's and lose a game they needed to win. and watch, they'll come out and probably beat Saint Bonaventure on Monday, which would make no fucking sense as well. Dayton has lost to the worst 3 teams in the A-10 this season. god, i can't wait for some new players to come in. they will either be great or expose the fraud that Anthony Grant truly is as a coach.

 Obi Toppin was drafted #8 last night, to the New York Knicks. you could tell from the emotion he was showing, going back home was a dream for him. he's from Brooklyn, and that's part of the reason i didn't want him to go to the Knicks... all the pressure of being the one to bring that team back to a championship level. of course, Obi is a dude that loves the pressure. so, i'm really hoping he has a season to remember his rookie year. win a few awards and keep being the humble, amazing athlete that has no limits to his abilities.

it was warm outside today, but not horrible. the humidity took the day off. of course, it's coming back with a rage tomorrow. joy.

i got all the shopping done before 3 this afternoon. i picked up some baseball cards and while i didn't get the card i was hoping for in the Topps Series 2 pack, i was pleased with what i did get. i wasn't expecting Turkey Reds of Ted Williams and Rod Carew, that's for sure. and i got a few good rookies in the Series 1 pack i got today as well.

the grocery stores weren't too busy. i think the meds i picked up for mom and myself cost about half of what i spent on the rest of the groceries. plus, i bought some Jagermeister today for the first time since god knows when. figure i better have a full bottle when the Rangers and Yankees get back to playing, if that really does happen.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

Dirty Jobs was pretty funny last night.

i did watch some of the TBT finals. at least the Red Scare lost to the team that won it all. they won't have to play that "what if" game in their head for the rest of the summer.
