where the fuck did November go? i must be getting closer to death...
it has been a sunny morning, slowly warming up.
The Voice was really good last night. i have no clue which 2 are going home tonight.
That's My Jam was mindless and funny last night.
Monday Night Raw was good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and NXT.
mom has a physical therapy appointment this afternoon. i will probably write some poems while that is going on. i just have no clue if i will get to wait inside or outside in the Highlander.
i will probably be on here tomorrow before i go grocery shopping.
until then kids...

i didn't get to sleep last night until 5:30 this morning. so, of course, i was up at 9 watching it snow. i fear i won't even sleep well when i'm dead. joy.
the snow didn't really start sticking until this afternoon. i think the roads are just wet at the moment. i figure after tonight, they will become sheets of ice.
the New Orleans Saints defeated Denver yesterday, 31-3. the defense was really good yesterday and the offense basically ran the ball damn near the entire game. that's 8 wins in a row now for the Saints.
the finale of The Undoing was great last night.
Murder on Middle Beach was excellent last night. the finale is next week.
Moonbase 8 was funny last night.
My Psychedelic Love Story was amazing last night. i highly recommend it.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice and Industry. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
if the tracking is correct for UPS, the new phones should be here on Wednesday. my sister believes i'll be able to set them up, so... i'm glad she thinks i can handle modern technology after resisting it for most of my life.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.
if you spent today shopping online, i hope you got some good deals.
i've spent most of the day icing my back down. joy.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. hard to believe this is the last day of November.

today is the day of the only college football game that has ever truly mattered to me. Ohio State vs. that shit school up north. i can remember so many childhood years fucking ruined by a great Ohio State team losing to a team you simply are not allowed to lose to. Ohio State has won 7 years in a row. they have never won 8 in a row. so, i truly hope today is a history making one. it would be even better if an Ohio State win costs that fucking clown that runs the shit school from up north to lose his job. that would almost make up for all that shit so many years ago.
the season finale of Room 104 was excellent last night.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.
the New York Rangers pissed away a 2 goal lead yesterday and lost at Boston, 3-2 in OT. the Rangers play this afternoon at New Jersey.
the trip to the grocery store turned into a fiasco yesterday. mom decided she wanted me to go to the drugstore to get some shit there. that took up 45 minutes of my life i will never get back. thankfully, the grocery store was basically empty.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be ROH.
i will probably watch plenty of college football today.
i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

every blue moon or so, i'll have one of those nights where i apologize to the 8 year old me, fully understanding why suicide would have been the better choice. between watching my teams lose, the agony of love and knee pain, it's amazing i bother to get out of bed some days.
i'm not sure what happened with the muse last night. she called me crying and so damn hysterical, i couldn't make out a damn thing she was saying. and this morning she tells me how i wasn't helpful. she won't talk about it but is sending me clues. if i am reading these correctly, i think the muse may be going to jail soon. yet another sign we were meant to be i guess.
the New Orleans Saints lost to Dallas last night, 13-10. the Saints couldn't find a rhythm on offense for basically the entire game. i'm really hoping the Cowboys just didn't provide the blueprint for the rest of the league.
the New York Rangers lost in Ottawa last night, 3-0.
thankfully, The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon were reruns last night. i'm not sure why the DVR records things i have already watched and deleted.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Will & Grace was very funny last night.
The Last Days of Knight was about the final days at Indiana for Bobby Knight. it was very good.
Atlanta will be playing Portland this year for the MLS Cup..
to top off everything last night, i think arthritis has now invaded my left knee. oh joy.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW, two episodes of Room 104 and Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus.
i'll be at UD Arena tonight watching the Dayton Flyers take on the #25 team in the country, Mississippi State. i believe mom is going to go to the game tonight with me. it's a sellout and i think the game is on tonight on the CBS Sports Network.
i'll be going to the grocery store before we go to the game. it's foggy as hell today, so this will be fun.
i'll be on here tomorrow in the morning, before Manchester United plays.
i hope everyone has a great weekend.

the Dayton Flyers lost last night to Auburn 73-60. that stops Dayton's 16 game home winning streak. first off, Dayton simply wasn't good enough in this game. defense was atrocious at times and they settled for way too many jump shots. secondly, the officiating was horrific. Dayton has the younger brother of the Greek Freak that plays in the NBA. for the second time that i can remember this season, Kostas got a foul called on him simply because of who he was. i am so fucking tired of refs that call shit because they think something is going to happen. how the fuck do you get a charge called on you when you don't touch the fucking player on your drive to the hoop? this has been my bitch for years now. since refs can't keep up with better and faster athletes, they try to anticipate shit. instead of the novel fucking approach of simply calling what you see. thirdly, Dayton's offense is a fucking joke. they will get zoned to death by any coach that can actually coach. Dayton's unwillingness to work the ball inside and out possession after possession slowly put the damn crowd to sleep. i don't think Dayton got closer than 8 in the second half. Dayton's next game will be on Sunday night at Mississippi State. oh joy.
mom got dizzy way too many times last night at the game. i don't think she's ready yet for all the noise and flashing lights, etc.
Total Divas was pretty good last night.
NXT was pretty good as well last night.
the Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo certainly lifted my mood some last night. as mom put it, no man on earth should have that much energy.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, the season finale of The Chris Gethard Show, Gotham, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Life in Pieces.
it was rainy this morning here, so my bones have been achy all damn day. that's always fun. i wanted to get some poems ready for next week but i haven't felt like it at all. hell, i don't really feel like doing this blog but i know there's plenty of Russians looking at it each day.
Waffle House was rather interesting last night. the cook was a young black man. i was immediately interested to see how the employees would interact. the one thing i have noticed about this town is most people have no clue how to act around a black person. i picked up on that when our waitress changed her attitude once he was no longer in the kitchen. it's fucking amazing how often people around here have no damn clue what being racist actually is. i really hope this town gets more integrated over time. i'd love to see all the fucking racists flee.
and on that lovely note, until tomorrow kids...

i was curious to see how Manchester United was going to play today. scoring 90 seconds into the match against West Ham certainly got my hopes up. going to break at 1-1 was a little frustrating. but, a very dominant second half sent the boys into the semifinals of the EFL Cup with a 4-1 win. that's much more like it. they will play Hull City in the semifinals. the next match in the Premier League is on Sunday against Everton. 2 goals each today from these two:
i thought the manager said it best:
and HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look who is still alive:
the roar when he came on brought a smile to my German soul.
the New York Rangers fell behind 2-0 last night. i was interested to see what kind of character the team had built so far this season. they scored the next 3 goals to win 3-2 over Carolina. that's a good sign. they play next against Buffalo.
The Voice was interesting last night. 2 of 3 in the bottom were definitely who i thought was going to be down there. but, i certainly didn't expect Blake's team to lose 2 people last night.
Scream Queens was excellent last night.
i really enjoyed Van Morrison: Live at the Rainbow. it was a performance from 1973 and it simply reaffirmed my belief that i'm an old soul.
Smackdown was great last night. so was 205 Live on WWE Network. i'm so damn happy for Rich Swann.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Total Divas and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.
i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. i'll post the links below in the music section.
i had to go to the grocery store today to pick up some of mom's medications. the woman working the counter at the pharmacy has me perplexed. she seems to be almost flirting with me but i can't decide if that's my brain fucking with me or is she actually interested. of course, i'm naturally shy, amazingly enough. so i'm pretty quiet and respectful, you know, thank you, you do the same, etc. type of shit. now, if i happen to have a little alcohol in me, all bets are off. just wanted all of you to know where the next set of poems will be coming from.
hard to believe that December starts tomorrow. i guess i need to start getting the Christmas cards ready to go out. i may put out some surprises as well this year, not sure yet. if a little whimsy gets blown up my ass, who knows what will happen.
i hope this finds everyone enjoying a beverage of your choice. take it easy and then take it again.

i was all set for the Dayton vs. Xavier game yesterday. i knew Dayton would only have a small chance to win, but i thought the guys were up to the challenge. sadly, within 30 seconds, i knew the officials were going to ruin this game. i understand that they want to clean up college basketball and get more flow into the games. trust me, as a viewer, there is no fucking flow when the whistle blows every 20 seconds or so. and no one on earth wants to watch a fucking free throw exhibition. that being said, Xavier absolutely whipped Dayton yesterday. i'm really hoping the boys were humbled to the point where they know they have to work that much harder. 90-61 was nothing like what i thought the game would be like. and honestly, during points of the second half where i had to change the channel or i was going to break the television, the game didn't feel that close.
that brings me to the New Orleans Saints. they lost yesterday 24-6. it was the first game in a decade where they didn't score a touchdown. it damn near reminded me of my youth where the fans of the Saints would wear bags on their heads. it was god fucking awful at times. and wouldn't you know, here come the undefeated Carolina Panthers. just tank the fucking season now and get a good draft pick. fuck me runnin'.
as you might imagine, my Sunday wasn't a really great day. i did manage to actually win a week in fantasy hockey. i went from last place in the division to 3rd. and i'm winning two of the three fantasy football matches. i need a bit of a miracle tonight from Baltimore, but given how they have played this season, i doubt it will happen.
thankfully, the Sunday night shows were excellent. Homeland was really good. The Affair was spectacular last night. the music was perfect. the pace of the show was perfect. the hot tub scene was awesome and the ending was heartbreaking and creepy at the same time. this season has really been better than the first one. i can't wait for next week.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
congrats to the Columbus Crew for making it to the MLS Cup. i'm tempted to find a way up there to see it next Sunday. doubt that happens though.
on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw.
the New York Rangers play Carolina tonight at home. i'm really hoping they stop this fucking losing streak at 3.
in case you were wondering, the title of this blog post comes from what happened at the church i went to when we were taught a lesson in humility. my childhood is scarred from many of these lessons. it could be while i do believe in god and spirituality, the church itself can fucking go to hell. as George Carlin pointed out years ago, organized religion was created to keep crazy people in line. it has morphed into a perverted way to make money and keep people dumb. this is also why i don't talk about religion much. who the fuck wants to be reminded of washing your father's feet?
that's all for me today. once the guy mom hired puts in the new toilet (i might actually get to shit in my own bathroom for the first time since god knows when) we might take a trip to Best Buy to start the process of fixing my computer. i won't get my hopes up but at the very least, i'd love to get all my music and photos off of it. and i'm sure mom would like all her work shit off of it as well.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. your Sunday was most likely better than mine. can you fucking believe tomorrow is the first day of December? i guess i should get started on Christmas cards pretty soon. if i like you as a person and have your address, i'll give you a warning for when you should start checking the mail box.

yesterday was very long. and while it was much better than the previous days were for me, i'm still fucking drained from everything.
i got up early enough to get some email work done before Manchester United came on. thankfully, United played an excellent game, winning 3-0. of course, seeing that this is the year of the injury for them, Di Maria left the game early with a hamstring injury. he's already been ruled out of the game on Tuesday. hopefully, that's all he misses, but i doubt it. it was nice to see Rooney and RVP score again in the same game. hopefully the team has turned the corner to a great season.
about 45 minutes before we were supposed to leave to go to the basketball game, my mother tells me that she doesn't want to go. so, before i could find someone else to go with, she asks my sister to go. my sister said yes, which surprised me after our blowout the day before. but, i figured i'd rather be interested in what happens than be at the game alone. we were very civil with each other and i think the tensions eased as the game went along. Dayton did their part, destroying UIC 75-41. below are the highlights:
we were going to go out to eat after the game but everywhere was fucking packed. so we just came home. back at home, i was able to see what happened in the games i missed while at the basketball game.
Ohio State beat the team i fucking hate, 42-28, but it came with a severe injury. their star QB, who set the BIG Ten record for touchdowns in a season earlier in the game, broke his ankle and is done for the year. now, Ohio State will have to use their 3rd string QB for the Big Ten title game against Wisconsin. not sure how they are going to pull that one off, but at least they kept the team i fucking hate from getting to a bowl game.
the New York Rangers swept the home and home with Philadelphia, winning 5-2. i got to see a quick replay of the game last night. i did enjoy the chants from the fans in the 3rd period of YOU CAN'T BEAT US. that made me laugh. and it was good to see some of the kids score yesterday. below are the highlights:
i really enjoyed those 4 victory beers yesterday. by the time i finished the fourth one, i was actually feeling pretty good.
ROH last night was excellent. i really enjoyed the match between Adam Cole and Matt Sydal. i thought the show did a pretty good job of setting up the next ppv.
i did watch some of the other college football games last night. that Alabama vs. Auburn game was fucking nuts.
my sister made it home last night. i think we are on pretty good terms at the moment. at the very least, i think we both have a better understanding of where each of us are in our lives. that's better than it was before.
today is going to be a day of trash removal, football, and hopefully some rest.
the New Orleans Saints play today at the Steelers (who happen to be my sister's favorite team). i don't like the Saints chances.
the only other thing on tonight that i'm really interested in is The Newsroom. the Showtime shows are off this week. so, that means i may actually get some sleep tonight.
i have a ton of trash to pick up and take down the lane. and of course, it is raining. this will be fun with my bad back.
hope everyone is having a great weekend. thanks again to all of you for letting me waste a few minutes of your time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

it's crazy to think it's July 15th and i'm able to turn the AC off and just open up the windows in the house and truly be comfortable. it's supposed to be like this for the next 3 days. hopefully this break of the summer heat produces some great sleeping weather at night.
mom got her lab results today. nothing really jumped out, so now a trip to a neurologist is the next stop. my fear is that her problems have something to do with the un-diagnosed concussion she had last year. i suppose only time will tell.
i might have watched 10 minutes or so of the home run derby last night. other than the balls that nearly left the stadium, i was bored. i figure it will be the same with the all star game tonight. i'll try to watch the introductions and probably Jeter's first at bat and whatnot, but other than that, no chance i watch the whole game. none.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. they did a decent job of setting up the next pay per view, coming this Sunday. i did get a good laugh when the crowd booed at the Sting announcement. i don't think he's going to hit the ring for another huge run at the age of 52 or so. too bad these kids will only know him for being in a video game.
on the docket for tonight is Deadliest Catch and Tyrant. both of these shows are in the MUST SEE category for me now.
as soon as i get this done, i'll be heading to the store with mom. so, maybe i'll have a grocery store poem or two to write up later tonight. that's the joy of being one observant mother fucker. i see shit in public settings that "normal" people simply don't even bother to think to look for. i'm finding that these little public excursions are slowly getting me more comfortable around people. emphasis on the slowly part.
had a weird afternoon on iTunes. my 90's brain must have sprung a leak today as i was searching for some obscure shit. and i found it. you should see what i'm talking about in the music section below.
so, now the question is what wrestling t-shirt do i wear to the store?
hope this finds everyone well. now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
take it easy. and then take it again.

first off, why i was up at 8:30 this morning is beyond me. i figured i drank enough and went to bed late enough that i wouldn't get up to around noon. no luck.
my sister's little get together last night was pretty good. i was really happy that she liked what i got her. i think i really blew her mind with the stuff. the place we went was much better than i thought it would be. the band was pretty cool. just a two man band playing a melody of various songs. my sister has known the guy playing the drum/chair for years now. and the reggae guy singing thought my beard was cool, so i have that going for me. the food was really good. service was great. and it was good seeing some folks i haven't seen in years. reliving all the old high school war stories was funny. that all being said, i'm hoping these trips down memory lane are over for some time.
so when i got back home i hopped on the computer to see what i missed. first off, team USA down in Costa Rica. i was hoping for a draw as they have never won there. and sadly, that continues with a 3-1 drubbing. i'm sort of looking at this as a good thing they were humbled. with the winning streak gone, they now can focus on a must win against Mexico on Tuesday. especially since they are no longer in first place in their group for World Cup qualifying.
then, i look up the Yankees game. a 12-8 loss. ok. then i start finding out what happened. blow a 8-3 lead with 9 outs to go. 2 of the better relievers are injured. a complete fucking disaster. (all goes back to the haircut) Tampa lost again but all the teams near the Yankees won. so, now they have to jump 3 teams to get to that playoff spot. not really sure if i'm going to watch today or not. i'm sure i will give it a passing glance. but, fuck me, talk about horrific timing.
i will be watching Ohio State later today. hopefully they are a bit more sharper than last week. and hopefully give me a good victory beer later on.
other than that and some ROH this evening, i figure most of my day will be flipping between college football games. i know 2 teams i hate are playing this evening.
that's all for today. i suppose i should get my day going finally. hope everyone has a great Saturday or at least a better one than your worst enemy does.
music:
Warren Haynes - Live at Bonnaroo

The Breeders - Last Splash

last night is the kind of night all fanatical sports fans dread. here is a snapshot. i finish up a great episode of Deadliest Catch to flip to the Yankees losing on a walk off homer in extra innings, then flip to the New York Rangers giving up the winning goal in the 3rd period with 4 minutes left or so. this all happened in roughly one minute of each other. fuck me running.
i hardly watched any of The Voice last night. i know i got the two sent home correct. i'll try to do a better job next week of actually giving a shit about the results episode.
Deadliest Catch last night was great. the show continues to prove year after year why it is one of the best shows on television.
i was completely disappointed with everyone not named Henrik Lundqvist on the New York Rangers last night. there is no reasonable explanation why they came out last night and got outplayed for nearly all 60 minutes. and to watch one of the best goalies play on his head and then lose is deflating beyond belief. i have no reason to think this playoff beard won't be gone by Thursday night. 2-1 loss to go down 3 games to none. fucking horrific.
the Yankees lost for the first time this season when scoring first last night. i don't know what it is about all the close games against Baltimore. 3-2 loss in 10 innings. hopefully they can win the series tonight.
i woke up this morning bound and determined to get the stink of last night off of me. a little Metallica and sending out some poems hopefully did the trick. i sent out 13 poems, 5 each to ART:Mag (Las Vegas) and Carcinogenic Poetry, and 3 to The Camel Saloon. when i hear back from these places i'll be sure to post the good news (hopefully) here on the blog.
thought for sure it was going to rain this morning. of course, it didn't. i need a good thunderstorm so i can get this video idea out of my head. it might storm this evening. that could get interesting.
if you need a good laugh today, i urge you to check out episode #56 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find it at notsam.com, iTunes, Stitcher, and on the right hand side of this blog if you scroll down far enough. if you watch the show Kitchen Nightmares, i truly believe you might be interested in this episode.
that is all.
music today:

so i raced home from the post office because i got a video idea racing my head. it was just starting to rain and i have a poem called "what is rain" in my NEW book, Sofisticated White Trash. so i quickly shot it, posted it, but for some fucking reason i can't post it here on my blog. so, if you go to my YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/jjthepoet1) or if you go to my Google+ page, you can find the video there.
i believe my sister is coming down for the Mother's Day weekend. hopefully my sports teams are winning so i don't play the role of asshole as usual.
the Yankees had a rainy 3-1 win yesterday to take the series in Colorado. and holy shit, they are now tied for first place in the AL East. not bad for a team of replacements. they start a series tonight in Kansas City. hopefully the shitty weather doesn't follow them there.
not sure how much of the baseball game i'll watch tonight as the New York Rangers play a fucking HUGE game 5 tonight. the winner tonight basically controls the series. let me just say that i have the vocal chords warmed up and i will be probably pacing or rocking the chair violently at some point.
i did catch a live concert last night of the Zac Brown Band performing at Red Rocks. it ended right before the storms knocked out the satellite feed. i tuned in about 20 minutes late, which i'll try to find online i guess. the concert was awesome. any time i see a country band do songs from Metallica and Led Zeppelin, my ears are definitely interested. and if you can find the encore of them doing songs in glow in the dark skeleton costumes, i highly recommend it.
i'm hearing from more people who have received copies of my book. glad to see the postal service can still do something right. i've lined up a couple of reviews as well. if you'd like to do a review for the book, please email me and we can exchange some info.
i would like to write a few poems this weekend if i find the time. 5 days in a row of rain have got some thoughts floating in my head that eventually will need to find a home.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. i hope any mom that happens to be reading this has a really great weekend.
music today:
Leonard Cohen - The Future

i sent out 8 poems this morning, 3 to The Camel Saloon and 5 to 48th Street Press for their broadside series. i was in last year's as well. when i hear back from Russell and Chris, i'll be sure to pass along the info.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is my friend Alan Catlin. i've been published with Alan since i began getting published. if you haven't read his work, i urge you to seek it out.
my thoughts on Wrestlemania are pretty simple. CM Punk vs. Undertaker was easily the best match of the night. sadly, not much of the rest of the show was worth a fuck. i did enjoy The Shield winning, mostly because Dean Ambrose is the future of this business. other than that, it was too damn predictable to be exciting at all. i was most disappointed with the Jericho vs. Fandango match. those 2 simply did not click at all. and considering Jericho is my 4th favorite wrestler of all time, you can imagine where i'm placing the blame. hopefully Vince is smart enough to spend the next year building some new talent so the relics don't have to carry the show any longer.
thankfully, the season finales of the Showtime shows saved my night. i really enjoyed all 3 of them.
the Yankees had a nice, i didn't see that coming, win yesterday over Detroit, 7-0. i doubt the Tigers will get shutout many times this season. amazing what decent pitching and some timely hitting can do. they play today in Cleveland, yet another opening day to go through. i imagine i'll sneak a peek or two, hoping they can finally win 2 games in a row.
tonight will be a true test of my attention span. on at about the same time for all of these, tonight i will be trying to view as much of the following as possible: New York Rangers vs. Toronto, the Voice, Monday Night Raw, and the National Championship game. if i'm not already insane, tonight should do the trick.
i am way behind in my fantasy hockey playoffs. if i pull this off in the games this week, it will be some kind of miracle.
and finally, a little game later on this afternoon between Manchester United and Manchester City. the result of today's match will basically determine my mood for the rest of the day, probably the week as well. a win, and i will be on cloud nine. a loss, and i will be pissed beyond belief. not that it will change the chances of United winning the league. it's just that losing to that team of fucking clowns burns me deeply. i suppose time will tell.
for those interested, i have Louisville winning tonight, 71-64.
hope everyone had a great weekend. until tomorrow...

it's so ungodly sticky today. reminds me of my only trip to Florida as a child. was at a Days Inn in the Orlando area where one half of the hotel was in a thunderstorm and the other half was in the sun. we haven't got nearly as much rain as i would have loved to... but the holiday weekend is still young.
woke up this morning with my back in the normal pain for shitty weather. the pain in my left leg i couldn't figure out. given my past history with blood clots, there's always that haunting feeling in the back of my head. i did some stretching on my left hip and that seemed to do the trick. i figure given my luck, 36 and here comes arthritis. of course, the fun didn't really start until i was going out to feed the cats and the water jug i take out with me fell as i was changing my shoes and broke. water all over the mud room. just what i fucking need.
after breakfast watched Manchester United play. of course they didn't score first, but RvP comes to the rescue again. and of course they give up the next goal 10 minutes into the second half. now, i learned a lesson long ago watching Eric Cantona play that the magic always comes, but it will test your will to live until it does. so after RvP misses a pk (too cheeky for my liking) Sir Alex stands up, points at the watch and gives the look. and holy shit, for the millionth time i guess, here come the late goals. RvP with a garbage one and then the sweet header in extra time for a 3-2 win. 4 goals in 3 games. i guess the money was well spent.
so, while enjoying the post victory beer, i turn on the Yankees. they get off to a quick lead but given how this season has gone, that doesn't mean shit. Phil Hughes gives up a home run, but they get that run back the next inning. why Hughes was allowed to pitch to the same guy that homered off of him with runners on base is fucking beyond me. of course he hits a 3 run homer. and after the Yankees needed 5 fucking pitchers to get 3 outs in an inning, i turned away in disgust. what a fucking waste. now they have 7 games in a row on the road against the 2 teams on their heels. if they still have the division lead a week from now i'll be stunned.
thankfully, during the Yankee debacle it was another CR7 & Messi Sunday. a total treat to watch 2 of the greatest talents in the world put on another show. CR7 had 2 goals for Real Madrid. Messi was in passing mode but his teammates didn't have the precision dialed up today. Barcelona still won but it was bowling shoe ugly at times. of course, that is the blueprint against them if you want to have a chance.
tonight, i'm hoping it will rain to break the death grip humidity going on. but not hard enough to fuck with my DIRECTV signal. if it does, i guess i'll be working on my 3 fantasy football teams. i know 2 of them are good right from the start. i've already been offered trades. hopefully it's more than just wishful thinking on paper this year.

i was having a pretty good day. got some decent sleep last night. watched team USA win gold in men's basketball in a highly entertaining game. my back was feeling great. the weather was as near to perfect as possible for late summer. and then the Yankees game started.
leave it to Phil Hughes, on a day where the team needed length from the starter and was 1 win away from a sweep of a last place team, to go out and throw batting practice. 4 innings and 7 runs in a 10-7 loss.
needless to say the rest of my day will be shit.
on a side note, did watch a good bit of the FA Community Shield this morning between two teams i hate. entertaining and vicious. now, if there only could have been more injuries and red cards...
the reunion of the Spice Girls isn't enough to make me want to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics. so hopefully my Sunday night tv viewing will make me forget about a mediocre fastball to a damn near full AAA lineup.
