so, after roughly three hours of sleep last night, i got up this morning and knew my back was fucking fucked. that started a roughly 5 hour process of icing, stretching, etc., trying to get my back good enough that i could do the grocery shopping. thankfully, it all worked well enough. i didn't have any problems while i was at Kroger, but i knew to be very careful and purposeful. yet, i know i will be icing my back down for most of tonight just to be able to function a little tomorrow. joy.
the Yankees won last night at the Phillies, 7-6 in 12 innings. and today, they won, 6-5, to sweep the series. i am still shocked that they swept the Phillies on the road. they are off tomorrow and start a series Friday at home against Toronto.
the USWNT won today at the Olympics against Australia, 2-1.
the USA men's basketball team won today against South Sudan, 103-86.
NXT last night was great.
Deadliest Catch was very good last night.
Hard Knocks offseason last night was good. the Bears Hard Knocks show starts next week.

my back has basically been shit for over 20 years now. so, i have learned a few tricks along the way on how to cope when my bad back decides it doesn't want to cooperate. first, plenty of ice. i mean, i made my room last night basically an ice box. AC running and my fan running as well. that helped some. stretching is a necessity. when my back is barking, i try to do it slow and deliberate. same with walking. if i can walk long enough, the back seems to loosen up and the pain dies down. now, the problem is, that pain always comes back. mom asked earlier if i wanted some Tylenol. i told her no, because i end up having to take 6 to even touch the pain. i'll just stick to Jack Daniels. and that boys and girls is why i doubt i will live a long life. of course, the state of Ohio could just make marijuana legal and then maybe i can be as close to pain free as i have been since birth.
grocery shopping took forever today, but i was expecting that. the landscapers were out today as well. they got the backyard done today. i'm sure the guy that mows our grass will be happy.
the Yankees won last night at Detroit, 4-2. holy shit, two wins in a row. they are currently up tonight on Detroit, 2-0.
NXT was very good last night.
Deadliest Catch was good last night.
Don't Forget the Lyrics was pretty funny last night.
Hard Knocks was very good last night.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:
it started raining last night and i immediately felt my back tighten up. i was hoping the alcohol was going to help me sleep, but it didn't. i might have got 3 hours of sleep last night at best. i haven't been able to loosen my back up at all. the shower didn't help. ice didn't help. walking in the two grocery stores i went to today didn't help. hell, i thought about getting in a car accident just to see if that would loosen the fucker up. pure fucking misery.
the New York Yankees won last night over the Royals, 7-2. of course, the victory had to be marred with a fucking injury. Aaron Judge got hit by a pitch last night and fractured his right wrist. that will keep him out a minimum of 3 weeks and more likely 6. that's a big loss for the Yankees, especially with Sanchez on the disabled list as well. now, with the trade deadline coming up, i wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees don't look for a bat to fill that hole for the time being.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Snowfall was really good last night.
Lip Sync Battle was good last night.
Big Brother was pretty good last night. Kaitlyn got voted out and then failed to complete this easy ass puzzle to stay in the house. i laughed my ass off as she was being evicted. i believe Bayleigh is the new HOH.

the grocery stores today weren't that bad. the local one was pretty empty when i went. of course, they didn't have my bread there. it's usually a dime cheaper than the big grocery store i go to. when i went there, i went in the end that had no shopping carts. lovely. i walked to the other end of the store and got one. by this time, my back was fucking killing me. i ran into someone my mother worked with, i guess. she knew who i was and asked about mom. i still have no fucking clue who it was. between both stores, i kept it under $100. that's usually my goal. i was a little surprised this week as i got plenty of meat at the bigger grocery store.
i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow. i have to take mom shopping at Meijer and i'd love to get that done before the Yankees play in the afternoon. Manchester United takes on Liverpool later in the day. if you don't see a blog in the morning, expect one later at night.
i hope everyone has a great weekend.

so yesterday i realized that not only is my lower back killing me, i believe arthritis is setting up camp in both of my hips. talk about a Christmas present i didn't want. i've been icing and stretching, using ointments and god knows what else, but nothing is really working. i had to sleep in my massage chair last night as i tried to lay down in my bed and my back felt like it broke in about a thousand places. good times. i might have got 4 hours of sleep in the chair. so i guess my life here in the next few days is going to be a series of naps. and i have no fucking clue how i'm going to be able to go to the basketball game tomorrow.
i did pretty good in fantasy football yesterday. i'm up 30 points in one match and i tied in the other match. i believe the tiebreaker is total yards and if my math is correct, i should advance to the finals. of course, i won't know for sure until tomorrow. but i certainly wouldn't mind playing for two championships next week.
i'm just 5 games out of first place now in my division in fantasy hockey.
i was feeling pretty good last night when the New York Rangers were up 3-1 after the first period. but since this period of them sucking seems to have no end, the Rangers gave up 6 straight goals to lose to Washington 7-3. fucking pathetic. thankfully, i didn't watch much of the game after Washington tied it. the Sunday night shows were getting ready to start.
the season finale of Homeland was rather interesting. i was expecting action packed and it went more for the emotional drama. and the twists along the way set up what could be a very interesting 6th season.
the season finale of The Affair was holy fuck awesome. the last 15 minutes or so were mind blowing. if you have followed the series from the beginning, i'm sure you really enjoyed some questions finally getting answered. if you are new to the show, please catch up and then go back and watch season 2 again. it was easily light years better than season 1. and the last scene sets up a truly holy fuck of a season 3.

i will be flipping between Monday Night Football (Saints vs. Lions) and Monday Night Raw tonight.
hopefully my back will feel good enough that i can actually start to wrap some gifts tonight. if not, there is a good chance that i might just be handing my mother and sister their gifts and tell them i was trying to help the environment this year.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. at the very least, i hope it was better than mine.
i'm now hoping to go take another nap in the massage chair.

i was in the shower last night (settle down ladies) and turned to change the setting on the shower head. well, i guess i turned too fast or i'm just getting old, but i immediately felt my back give. holy fuck. my brain quickly switched into find the pleasure in the pain mode, which has come my mode of survival anymore. after i was done with the shower, like the stubborn fuck i am, i got dressed and got ready to go to the basketball game. about 20 minutes into the game, mom asked me if i was ok. i said no. i told her it was my back. now, when in public and my back is killing me, i tend to use adrenaline or alcohol to get me through. i was driving, so alcohol wasn't an option. thankfully, the Dayton Flyers provided me some adrenaline in the second half.
when Dayton was only up by 2 at halftime, i was not happy. they were playing a team (Furman) they should absolutely kill. thankfully, they exploded in the second half to win the game 70-50. they got 23 more rebounds than the opposition in the second half and only missed 3 free throws for the entire game. that is what i call lesson learned.
after the game, it was just cold enough outside that it helped cool my back down. that allowed me to drive to get some food and get back home. once home, i ate and got into my massage chair. the massage and ice helped a little. the only way i could get to sleep last night was on my stomach. i hate sleeping on my stomach. but since my right hip started barking, i had no choice. i figure today will be a mix of stretching and ice and swear words.
Saturday Night Live was pretty good last night. a few of the sketches were really fucking funny.
ROH was good last night. i think i was in so much pain that i really don't know if it was really good or not. i know i watched it all and didn't scream out in agony, so i didn't hate it.
i'm saving Austin City Limits for when i'm wrapping gifts. it's the 1979 performance from Tom Waits.

the New York Rangers play tonight against the Capitals. i'd love for the Rangers to win so i could have a nice tall glass of something strong.
sadly, that's the best medicine i have for my back.
the fantasy football playoffs start for me today on CBS Sports. i'm trailing in both games. good times.
the worm has turned for me in fantasy hockey though. i'm having my best week all season so far and i'm just about at the point where i'm cracking the top 4. i don't think anyone thought that would happen when i was 15 games out of first place 3 weeks ago.
i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

i put some ice on my back last night as it was killing me, right around 11:30 or so at night. next thing i know, i wake up at 4:45 AM, all the lights still on and i'm wondering what the fuck happened. i completely forgot about the ice on my back, as i found that later in the afternoon, still in the chair. i suppose frustration, pain, life, etc. just all hit me at once. of course, i couldn't fall back asleep once i woke up. not even a damn nap this afternoon.
since i was up early, i listened to the new podcasts from Men in Blazers and Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. both were excellent.
i found a few songs for FREE on iTunes last night. you'll see those listed down below.
my frustration last night came from the New York Rangers once again losing to the fucking Islanders, 4-1. at least they scored a goal this time. for some fucking reason, they think they can beat the Islanders with skill. will beats skill more times than people actually realize. but, hopefully the Rangers get that loss out of their system soon, as they are entering a stretch where they play every other day for awhile. next up is Montreal on Thursday.
by the way, you can now see the rest of my NHL All-Star game pics in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog.
i was going to do my laundry today, but our water is just fucking nasty here lately. i changed the water filter and hopefully that will help it long enough for me to get a shower and maybe do some laundry. we just have so much fucking rust and iron in the water now that it's pretty fucking close to unbearable. so of course this happens as we're hoping to sell the place. life...
the USA Men's National team plays a soccer friendly today against Chile. i'm very interested to see how the boys do as 2015 is going to be an important year.
after that game, i'll be watching Lucha Underground. hopefully they have another great episode lined up for tonight.
i'd like to get some writing done tonight. i don't really have anything swimming in my head that needs to get out at the moment, so it should get interesting to see what i come up with on the spot. i don't really like to write like this but i've learned over the years that i'm good enough to make it work regardless.
if i do get a few poems that i like tonight, i'll mostly like do another submission in the next day or so. i've got 5 poems begging to get sent out soon.
that's pretty much all for me today. i'm thinking i will be on here early tomorrow as mom wants to go grocery shopping and there is a ton of shit on television tomorrow that i want/need to watch.
i hope this finds everyone with a stiff drink in your hand. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

my neck still hurts. i figure it is a combination of the pinched nerve and the fucking weather. i see the doctor in a few days, so we'll see.
it has been very dreary and gloomy here today. rain and then more rain. and now some wind and the temperatures are dropping. have i ever told you how my bad back loves a cold front?
the Dayton Flyers took Georgia Tech behind the woodshed last night and beat the shit out of them. a 75-61 win that every fan will remember as a wonderful Christmas gift. the former coach of Dayton is still stuck in his ways that never got Dayton past superior mediocrity. i can't imagine he'll be at Georgia Tech for long. here are some highlights from last night:
after the game, i sat down in my chair to exhale and happened to look to the right. holy shit. the guy about 5 feet from me looks an awful like the pro wrestler Chris Hero. i tell my mom this because i bought one of his t-shirts for myself for Christmas. she looks at him and says that can't be him, too small. i take another look and say that's definitely him. sadly, he was busy talking to a guy and i'm not the type of asshole that will interrupt someone for a autograph or picture request. so, after we ate dinner at Waffle House, i got on the internet back at the farm. i went to his twitter account (@thechrishero) and sure enough, the last two tweets posted were about the Dayton basketball game. i showed my mother and she finally started to believe me.
i watched a little of the New York Rangers replay before i went to bed last night. i'm extremely happy with this 7 game winning streak. they are really starting to look like a team that can do some damage this season. here are some highlights from the 4-2 win over Washington:
those two victory beers went down very quickly. i think i may crack open the vodka my sister got me for Christmas to celebrate my fantasy football championship.
i've been a busy boy today on iTunes. you'll see what i'm talking about below.
i hope everyone is having a great Christmas Eve. whether you are with family or a hooker, i do hope you enjoy your time. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

my back has been killing me all day today. this persistent drizzle is the fucking culprit. tonight is when the heavy shit is supposed to start. that won't be fun at all.
i wrote 3 poems today, all after i shot my load nearly 3/4 of the way up my chest. i guess i needed a release. as for the poems, the first one may be a fucking classic. only time will tell. the other 2 are solid. i'm planning on sending some more out next week.
i spent the morning on NoiseTrade again. found a couple old albums i downloaded for FREE. i'll post the links below.
i did pretty good in fantasy football last night. i picked the game right as well.
i watched mostly sports last night, bouncing from game to game. i decided to take a nap instead of watching a lot of Peter Pan. that worked out pretty good for me.
i'm looking forward to Sonic Highways tonight. it's the series finale, so it should be good.
the New York Yankees finally woke up and did something this offseason. they traded for a shortstop and signed the best reliever not named David Robertson on the market. i do like the addition of Andrew Miller. he should fit in the bullpen very nicely, especially if they bring back DRob, as they should. $9 million a season is a little steep, but, it's not my money, so i don't care. as for DiDi Gregorius, he has the impossible task of replacing Derek Jeter. i like the kid, watched him play minor league baseball in Dayton. hopefully he plays great defense and simply hits just enough. if the old fucks in the lineup do their jobs, DiDi will not be a problem. if they are relying on him for his bat, the Yankees will be mediocre like last season.
this is going to be a short one today as i need to get started on dinner. i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow as my afternoon will be another clusterfuck of sports.
i hope everyone has a great Friday night and a wonderful weekend. remember, only fuck the ones that cough and never shit in your own yard.

yesterday was very long. and while it was much better than the previous days were for me, i'm still fucking drained from everything.
i got up early enough to get some email work done before Manchester United came on. thankfully, United played an excellent game, winning 3-0. of course, seeing that this is the year of the injury for them, Di Maria left the game early with a hamstring injury. he's already been ruled out of the game on Tuesday. hopefully, that's all he misses, but i doubt it. it was nice to see Rooney and RVP score again in the same game. hopefully the team has turned the corner to a great season.
about 45 minutes before we were supposed to leave to go to the basketball game, my mother tells me that she doesn't want to go. so, before i could find someone else to go with, she asks my sister to go. my sister said yes, which surprised me after our blowout the day before. but, i figured i'd rather be interested in what happens than be at the game alone. we were very civil with each other and i think the tensions eased as the game went along. Dayton did their part, destroying UIC 75-41. below are the highlights:
we were going to go out to eat after the game but everywhere was fucking packed. so we just came home. back at home, i was able to see what happened in the games i missed while at the basketball game.
Ohio State beat the team i fucking hate, 42-28, but it came with a severe injury. their star QB, who set the BIG Ten record for touchdowns in a season earlier in the game, broke his ankle and is done for the year. now, Ohio State will have to use their 3rd string QB for the Big Ten title game against Wisconsin. not sure how they are going to pull that one off, but at least they kept the team i fucking hate from getting to a bowl game.
the New York Rangers swept the home and home with Philadelphia, winning 5-2. i got to see a quick replay of the game last night. i did enjoy the chants from the fans in the 3rd period of YOU CAN'T BEAT US. that made me laugh. and it was good to see some of the kids score yesterday. below are the highlights:
i really enjoyed those 4 victory beers yesterday. by the time i finished the fourth one, i was actually feeling pretty good.
ROH last night was excellent. i really enjoyed the match between Adam Cole and Matt Sydal. i thought the show did a pretty good job of setting up the next ppv.
i did watch some of the other college football games last night. that Alabama vs. Auburn game was fucking nuts.
my sister made it home last night. i think we are on pretty good terms at the moment. at the very least, i think we both have a better understanding of where each of us are in our lives. that's better than it was before.
today is going to be a day of trash removal, football, and hopefully some rest.
the New Orleans Saints play today at the Steelers (who happen to be my sister's favorite team). i don't like the Saints chances.
the only other thing on tonight that i'm really interested in is The Newsroom. the Showtime shows are off this week. so, that means i may actually get some sleep tonight.
i have a ton of trash to pick up and take down the lane. and of course, it is raining. this will be fun with my bad back.
hope everyone is having a great weekend. thanks again to all of you for letting me waste a few minutes of your time.

my back is killing me at the moment, my shitty internet is slower than my death at the moment, and the heater in this room smells like it's either going to catch on fire or is slowly leaking out poison.
happy thanksgiving.
the New York Rangers pissed away so many chances last night and kept giving one of the best power plays in the league chances to kill them. and that's what they did. and once AGAIN, it was the Rangers former captain, Ryan Callahan, that did most of the damage. maybe his former teammates think he's still on the team. Rangers lost 4-3.
at least Lucha Underground was excellent once again last night.
as for today, my sister was down here before i was even awake. amazingly, that was over 3 hours ago and we still haven't spoke. and you wonder why i don't like holidays. i do plan on watching a ton of football today and most likely getting my laundry done. and if today goes as planned, i will try to get most of my Christmas shopping done today. i do about 95% of it online.
i still have the cats to go feed, so i guess i should put on some pants.
thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i woke up this morning and as soon as i rolled over in bed, i knew it was raining outside. my back felt like two elephants decided to fuck on it all night long. but not typical elephant style, but more like some twisted kama sutra type shit. thankfully? the temps are supposed to rise today so the rain won't be freezing for very long. of course, this also means the snow and ice will melt. so, the farm will be a joyous pit of mud before too long.
i did watch Sonic Highways last night on HBO. another great episode. i think the reason i have never been to New Orleans is the simple fact that i KNOW i would never leave. it's almost earned some like mythical stature in my head actually. perhaps i'll go there sometime before my poor ass dies. as for the Foo Fighters song at the end, i wish it would've had some horns or some tribute to jazz in it.
today is going to be a busy ass day for me. besides all the sports, i have a ton of dishes to do (i'm lazy), two toilets to clean (still lazy), 4 poems to type up (the words finally came out last night), and finally start the process of deciding what the fuck i'm going to take with me when we move. i have a feeling i might try to sell some shit. or, i'm going to be investing in some of those good plastic storage tubs as we'll have a ton of storage out in the attached garage at the new house. i haven't lived anywhere with an attached garage since i was 21. to think that i won't have to walk over ice and snow and mud and shit and dead animals to start a vehicle is pretty much foreign to me now.
Ohio State plays at home this afternoon against Indiana. they are 34 point favorites. hopefully, the game is never close, because at the same time...
Manchester United is playing at Arsenal. United has so many injuries right now that i have no clue who is even going to play for them. hopefully, i'll be enjoying two victory beers later in the afternoon.
also tonight, i'm hoping to watch Saturday Night Live and ROH. sometime before that, i have to squeeze in a shower. this is one of those days where i'm going to test just how much i can get done in 24 hours while dealing with a bad back.maybe i should go lay naked in a snow pile before it melts.
enjoy that visual.
that's all for me now. i have to get the trash out and get something done before the games come on at noon. plus, i guess the cats would like to eat.
hopefully the fucking newspaper is in plastic this morning.
i do hope everyone has a great weekend. may all your sports teams do well, or may you get to see your favorite play or movie or concert, or maybe she/he will fuck you for free this time.
thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i woke up this morning and nearly every bone in my body was aching. i figured it was raining. even after taking my pills, that agony has lasted all day long. add on top of that, mom decided to work from home today, and all plans i had for today were thrown out the window.
i didn't start my laundry until mom got done with her conference calls. her hearing is really starting to go. i figured a washer and dryer wasn't going to help her any. and given the pain i've been in all day long, the only time i went outside was to feed the cats. so, i'm thinking i may get a haircut Saturday morning. i would say tomorrow but mom has already told me we have a road trip up north to go on. i think she has to get something from a doctor up in Troy. that basically means more driving for me on the highway in the rain. i'm so looking forward to that.
add to that misery some poems being rejected... i heard back from Carolina Quarterly on the poems i sent back in April. they have decided to pass on them. so, i now have 6 poems that i really like to send out to different places. what i can't stand is how thick my unpublished file is getting. i guess i need to seek out some new places to send to.
so, since i was indoors most of the day, i found some awesome music on NoiseTrade this afternoon. i'll post the links below in the music section where you can find the FREE music.
American Horror Story was good last night. there was just enough blood and gore to keep me interested. just enough. i'm really hoping the next few episodes get much better and faster paced. my old ass is usually seeking a nap around 10 pm. perhaps that's why i'm up to 3 am...
tonight the New York Rangers start their season against St. Louis. i'll be glued in to that. hopefully they get off to a better start than they did last season. i'm going to be really interested to see how the new pieces fit in, especially since i will be seeing them on Saturday night in Columbus.
at the same time that the Rangers are on, i'll be paying a little attention to the NFL game. i have a WR playing for the Texans. i've picked the Colts to win tonight. all i really want is for my WR to do better than the "experts" are thinking he will. my fantasy football teams are in the mid-week injury scare mode. it's slightly driving me nuts. (stop laughing)
i did watch a little soccer in Europe this afternoon. watching Spain lose did bring a bit of joy to my world. but only for a minute or two.
i have no clue when i'll get on here tomorrow. maybe after the adventure with my mother. i think we have to go to the store as well. it's supposed to rain for much of tomorrow, just like it did today. i'm not sure how long i can play the martyr and not start taking the hard shit to take away the pain.
i certainly know i won't be moving to the Pacific Northwest or a rain forest any time soon.
thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
when i felt my back starting to tighten up last night, i knew the rain wasn't far behind. sure enough, a few hours later there was lightning and rain. at least this cold front has cooled things way down. i'll trade a little pain in order to be comfortable.
the Yankees were fucking clueless last night. they pissed away another great pitching performance and lost 1-0. they might as well be dead. they play again this afternoon. i'll be busy watching college football.
thankfully, the Yankees were done by the time The Knick came on last night. another great episode. i'm really enjoying the slow reveal of the deeper aspects of the characters. can't wait for the next one.
not much happened at the grocery store yesterday. though, there was one blonde in a Nirvana t-shirt that won't be leaving my mind anytime soon. i love a beautiful woman with interesting tattoos.
i did do some poetry work last night. came up with 30 unpublished poems to send out. i believe i have the places where i want to send them to, but i need to do the fine detail work to make sure i'm not sending rejected poems back to the place that rejected them. i'll find some time this afternoon between college football and cleaning toilets to get that done.
Ohio State doesn't play until tonight, so most of my afternoon will be bouncing between college football games and probably some soccer.
tonight, the new episode of ROH should be really good. other than that, if i am still awake, i imagine i'll be watching some football from the west coast.
found some FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. just more proof that i'm a sucker for hipster music out of Brooklyn. i'll provide the link below.
off to go get the mail and food for the animals out here. this should be fun, lifting 40 lbs. of food while my back is barking. good times.
that's all for me today. hope everyone has a great weekend. thanks for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
so i woke up in the middle of the night. i checked the clock and it said 4 AM. fuck that was the first thing i said. i went back to sleep and woke up again around 8 AM. i was hoping to see my mother out this morning, as she had to drive to Cincy for a meeting and hates to make that drive. (she called and made it fine and on time). i had a bill i had to pay so i figured after the post office, i would get some breakfast. and since this is my life, 20 minutes later i was on the toilet shitting out, what felt like, a month of food. enjoy that visual. needless to say, i've been a little cranky ever since.
i did watch Big Brother last night. was happy to see Devin leave. i laughed at how the producers made the dummies watching think there was a chance of it not happening. poor souls. now the fun can begin.
i also watched the new comedies on FX last night. Married was pretty good. had a few funny lines. also, Jenny Slate is in it, who i adore, mostly because she looks like a crush i had in high school. the other show, You're the Worst, was fucking awesome. perfectly written, crass, with enough sex to keep any pervert interested. i HIGHLY recommend it.
tonight, the baseball season starts back up. the Yankees are at home against the Reds. the two teams of my youth battling it out. hopefully, i'll find something better to watch.
mom casually mentioned last night that she's thinking of going on vacation the first week of August. what really surprised me is she wants me to go along. i don't think i have been on a vacation in almost 20 years. i'd love to just get in the car and start driving and wherever we end up is cool. but, i also know that is not how my mother operates. so i spent a good portion of today checking out festivals and whatnot for possible things to do that week. i'll keep all 2 or 3 of you that read this updated on what might happen that week. i do have a couple of cameras now, so i'll get some pictures.
i had to clean the bamboo floors today. that was long overdue.
looks like the rain clouds are moving in right now. great. that should make my back feel wonderful.
that's all for me. i do hope everyone has a great weekend. if anyone has any vacation ideas, feel free to send them to me.
be well. be creative. be the asshole that likes the rain and doesn't need an umbrella.

this has been a day where i should be napping. yet, here i am typing. i should be stretching my back out, yet here i am typing, with the windows open and me yawning. i won't be silly enough to promise that what you read past this point won't just be a pile of shit. nicely manicured, but still shit.
the American League won the all star game last night, 5-3. Jeter went 2 for 2. i thought the ovations he got last night were pretty classy. i thought it was a rather fitting nod by MLB to give the MVP to Mike Trout. the obvious passing of the torch.
Deadliest Catch was pretty interesting last night. it was the Super Bowl episode. and since most of those guys live up there, they are huge Seahawks fans.
Tyrant was really good as well last night. i like how they are slowly revealing the backstory of the main characters. that should really provide some drama as the series goes on.
tonight will be Big Brother, Wilfred, and The Bridge. i'm looking forward to all 3.
if i truly get bored i might turn on ESPN, but the chances are extremely slim.
mom and i went to a different store yesterday than usual. we had to get some filters for down in the cellar. ah, farm life. not many people were in the place. but, i think i might have a poem or two, mostly at how damn expensive baseball cards are now. $3 for a pack. fuck me. i can remember getting a whole box (36 packs) for under $10. fuck, i feel old.
while in the store my left leg and back started to hurt. there really isn't a way to stretch out a leg or back and not look like a silly motherfucker while doing it. i did my best to play it off, but i got a few looks. thankfully there were no mothers clutching their children a little closer. i don't mind being labeled a pervert by a stranger, but a pedophile is way too far. as a victim of abuse, that is one damn line i'll never fucking cross. you might imagine where the poems are going to go now.
i think summer is supposed to reappear tomorrow. so, these windows will be closing here soon. get the air back on before i forget and the house gets up to 80 or so.
that's all for me today. i'm off to go read all the Manchester United rumors. nothing like a good laugh before dinner.
be well. be creative. be a better listener. be willing to use your tongue more.
peace and chicken grease...

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

when i saw it happen yesterday, i laughed. this is what happens when you let a dirty fuck like Luis Suarez continue to play a sport when he should be locked up in an institution. maybe with his THIRD incident like this happening at the World Cup, perhaps he will get the right punishment this time. and god willing, his country and whatever shitty team he ends up playing for, pays for it. but, considering this is FIFA, my hopes aren't high that they will do the right thing.
to recap yesterday's action, Uruguay won 1-0 over Italy in an ugly game. Costa Rica and England played to a 0-0 draw. at least the English got a point in this tournament. Colombia continued their run as the most entertaining team in the tournament, winning 4-1 over Japan. Greece won 2-1 over Ivory Coast on a late penalty kick. i missed that as we had a nice little nasty storm come through and knock out the satellite feed. this all sets up the knockout round games of Columbia vs. Uruguay and Greece vs. Costa Rica. talk about 2 teams no one saw playing each other in the round of 16.
today will be Argentina vs. Nigeria, Iran vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina, Honduras vs. Switzerland, and Ecuador vs. France. i'll be interested to see how Groups E and F shake out.
the Yankees got down by 6 runs last night. they came all the way back to tie the game late. and then lost on a throwing error in the bottom of the 9th. it feels like they are inventing ways to lose now. at least they scored some runs finally. they play again tonight, looking to avoid the sweep.
i enjoyed Deadliest Catch last night. i also enjoyed Tyrant. the twist at the end of the first episode will definitely have me coming back each week.
tonight, two of my guilty summer pleasures will be coming back on television. Big Brother and Wilfred. i know what i will be watching instead of the Yankees playing like shit again.
i was hoping that it was going to be dry yesterday so i could mow this forest of a lawn out here today. and the way the damn forecast looks, it might actually rain for 3 more days. that would make nearly 2 damn weeks of rain. not good.
i did a little art last night. this morning i crumpled it up, but i didn't throw it away. i think it looks more interesting crumpled. if my lazy ass remembers, i might take a picture of it later.
all this rain is doing some serious havoc to my back. i can do all the stretching i need to and i still feel tighter than shit back there. guess it's a good thing i never moved to the pacific northwest like i thought i was going to at 18.
i see the doctor on Friday. my 3 month checkup for my neck and arthritis. my neck is nearly pain free. this rain certainly hasn't helped my arthritis at all.
that's all for me today. i'm off to go ice my back down and squeeze in a nap. hope everyone is doing well. and i certainly hope you live in a place where the sun still exists.
peace and chicken grease...

Sturgill Simpson - Turtles All The Way Down
The Black Crowes - Oh Josephine
Mike Mattison - Midnight In Harlem

my bad back seems to have turned the corner. i spent most of yesterday working on it. ice, stretching, ice, stretching, rinse and repeat. at least i was able to get some sleep. perhaps that was the 2 victory beers. not sure.
i was very happy for Wayne Rooney yesterday, FINALLY getting a goal in the World Cup. of course, England still lost to Luis Suarez, 2-1. they need to have Italy do good today to still be alive in the tournament. in other action yesterday, Colombia defeated the Ivory Coast 2-1. Colombia is sneaky great and will be a tough out. Japan and Greece played to a scoreless draw, even though Japan was a man up for the last 55 minutes of the match. sometimes it was like watching paint dry.
today, the game of the day comes early. Italy plays Costa Rica. HUGE match. next sees Switzerland play France. and then, Ecuador takes on Honduras. hopefully, another good day of matches.
the Yankees completed the sweep of Toronto last night, winning 6-4. they now are 1 1/2 games out of first place. they play against Baltimore tonight, the start of Old Timers weekend. and no, that's not a joke about the current team.
the weather is still crazy here. we had flooding all around us after all the rain yesterday. somehow, we didn't get much. maybe around an inch or so. go 1 mile to the south, they got 3 inches. today is supposed to be some more storms. figures, as my sister will be on the road.
looks like another evening of baseball and flipping around to avoid commercials. i'll probably end up on the Food Network if the Yankees aren't doing well.
that's pretty much all for me. i have a bad back to go ice down. and breakfast to eat.
be well. be creative. be the evil your parents were scared of.

we had some pretty big storms roll through here last night. i haven't been out to check if we had any damage yet. i wasn't pleased that the power went out 2 different times last night. just long enough that the clocks needed to be reset. good times.
my sister made it down here last night. she brought me the stuff she got me in NYC. pretty cool. she's going to attempt to cook this new recipe for breakfast. god help us all.
my back was in horrific pain last night while i was doing the dishes. i fear that i have another bulging disc. i'm going to try to hold out to my doctor's appointment next week. fingers are crossed.
the Yankees offense showed some life last night, beating Toronto 7-3. that's their 15th straight win at home over Toronto. they go for the sweep tonight.
the World Cup saw the end of the empire yesterday. Spain lost to Chile 2-0, thus being eliminated from the World Cup. Croatia beat Cameroon 4-0 to set up a huge game against Mexico on June 23rd. in the game of the day the Netherlands beat Australia 3-2 in a back and forth affair.
today's action sees Colombia take on the Ivory Coast. that should be fun. Greece plays Japan. and in the game of the day, a MUST WIN game between England and Uruguay.
that's pretty much all that's going on in my world. i'm off to go feed the cats, check for damage, and then ice my back down for the rest of the day.
hope this finds everyone well.

around 6 pm yesterday, the heat index was at 97. that's too high for my sensitive skin. i fully expect to go out and find dead cats later this morning. or maybe the dumb fuckers actually figured out why the water is out there for them.
my back is doing slightly better, like how the number 13 is slightly larger than the number 12. i'm hoping a nice hot shower will help.
on to your daily World Cup updates...
Belgium came from behind to beat Algeria, 2-1. South Korea and Russia played a mistake filled 1-1 draw. Mexico and Brazil played one of the more entertaining 0-0 draws you will ever see. Mexico can thank their goalkeeper for that point.
today the Netherlands plays Australia, Croatia plays Cameroon, and in the juicy affair of the day, Spain plays Chile. that is a MUST WIN game for Spain. should be entertaining.
i believe my sister is coming down here tonight. first chance she's had to get down here for mom's birthday. i suppose there will be cake.
the Yankees got another great outing from Tanaka (minus that first pitch home run he gave up) and just enough offense to win 3-1. Tanaka is now 11-1 with an ERA under 2. worth every fucking penny. they go for the series win tonight.
Deadliest Catch was pretty damn good last night. loved the look on Sig's face when he got the news that his daughter would be coming fishing with them. priceless.
not sure what i will be watching on television this evening, other than baseball. this may be an evening where i get a little writing done or spend hours working on my back.
that's all for me. i suppose i should get out to feed the animals before it gets too damn hot again.
hope this finds everyone well. be cool.

roughly about 45 minutes after i posted on this blog yesterday, i went outside to feed the cats. and while doing so, i threw my back out. nothing quite like being frozen in pain while the cats are looking at you like, put the food in the bowl fat ass. i eventually made it back inside, slowly. and since it was mom's birthday, i went into town to get the mail. thank god for adrenaline. i iced it down some yesterday and was hoping that a good night of sleep was going to help. lets just say i'll be doing some more ice today.
when the USA scored 34 seconds into the match yesterday against Ghana, i was thrilled, shocked, and pissed at the same time. pissed because i know how this team operates. they were going to try to defend for the next 90 minutes. sadly, that's pretty much what they did. when Ghana tied the score, i figured getting a point out of this game would be good enough. when the USA scores in the 86th minute and the adrenaline starts flowing through my veins again, it was at the top of my lungs screaming, DEFEND FOR YOUR LIVES BOYS. and they did. to FINALLY beat Ghana is some sweet revenge. considering they have to play Germany next and most likely will be eliminated after that game, is even sweeter. the USA next plays an injured and suspended Portugal team. the USA has injuries as well. and that game is in the middle of the jungle. a draw would most likely get the USA into a great spot for getting out of the group. a win, especially if Germany wins the day before, gets the USA out of the group of death. i will be hoping for a win on Sunday.
also yesterday, Germany destroyed Portugal 4-0. helps that Pepe lost his mind once again. Portugal was losing 2-0 at the time. hopefully Portugal feels sorry for themselves come Sunday. in the first goalless draw of the tournament, Nigeria and Iran did their best to put me to sleep. if my back wouldn't have been killing me, i might have actually got to sleep.
today's action is Belgium vs. Algeria. (Belgium is my sleeper team for the World Cup). Russia plays South Korea. and in the game of the day, Mexico plays Brazil. given that many of these players faced off in the Olympics when Mexico beat Brazil for the gold medal, i would think Brazil will be looking for a little revenge today. might watch that game in Spanish.
Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. helped that the adrenaline from the USA win was still pumping inside me while i was watching. love that they are giving some of the younger talent more of a push now.
Louie had an excellent season finale last night. could have gone without seeing some male ass in the episode, but oh well. another excellent season.
tonight is a Tanaka Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. they start a series with Toronto, who is 4 1/2 games ahead of them in the division. a pretty big series for June. i'll be watching that until Deadliest Catch comes on. quite honestly, all my viewing tonight depends on how my back feels.
hope this finds everyone well. and in better health than me.
until we meet again my friends...
