i have a couple really large ice packs out in the old refrigerator that we put in the garage. i broke one of those out last night. it basically takes up my entire back. i put that in my chair and i eventually went to sleep. i might have got a little over 5 hours. that feels like an eternity when some nights i can barely manage 2 hours of sleep. so, other than technology being a motherfucker as usual today, i have been feeling pretty good. the pinched nerve has been manageable all day. the arthritis has been as well. hopefully, that becomes the new normal.
the Yankees won last night over the Royals at home, 4-3, in 11 innings. Baltimore lost, so the Yankees lead in the division is back to 1 1/2 games. they start a series tonight at home against Boston. i'm really hoping that the Yankees can win this series and get closer to clinching the division.
Big Brother was good last night. i think Quinn is going to be evicted, at least from what i have seen so far today.
AEW Dynamite was good last night.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, NJPW and two episodes of The Old Man (which i will probably have to watch on HULU tomorrow)...

i didn't get to sleep until 5 AM. i didn't wake up until 11:15 AM. now, i wish it would have been 6 straight hours of sleep, but i don't live in that fantasy world. i didn't eat breakfast until 1 in the afternoon. good times. after that, i had to vacuum the house. mom told me to do it in the morning. of course, she didn't wake up until 12:30. i took a weed gummy because my back is absolutely killing me. after i get this done, i'm going to ice my back down and hopefully be high enough that i enter a few different dimensions while taking a nap.
the USMNT at the Olympics defeated New Zealand yesterday, 4-1.
the Yankees won last night at Boston, 11-8, in 10 innings. hopefully, they will win the series tonight. they did make a trade yesterday that will hopefully be good for the offense.
Manchester United lost last night to Arsenal, 2-1. two players got injured last night, Yoro and Hojlund. i'm hoping they won't be out for long. United did win the penalty shootout after the game, so there's that.
AEW Collision and AEW Battle of the Belts were both pretty good last night.

well, there was just enough rain in the area today that agony was the better word for pain. i feel like i didn't sleep at all, even though i know i did. i did ice my back down, that helped some. these are the days where i need a tub filled ice and i can just spend a few hours in it. or maybe Santa will bring me a morphine drip this Christmas. fingers crossed.
so, one of my favorite female poets contacted me last night and wants to do a little project with me. that certainly got the creative juices flowing. so, i have 10 poems to send her later today. i have wanted to work with her for years, so i'm really happy this creation is beginning.
the Dayton Flyers lost last night in the championship game down in Charleston to Houston, 69-55. at least they did get two quality wins down there. that should help build that tournament resume.
i did watch a few NFL games yesterday:
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.
Shining Vale was hilarious last night.
Fellow Travelers was really good last night.
The Curse was great last night.

i will keep an eye on the NFL game tonight between the Eagles and Chiefs.
the USMNT plays tonight at Trinidad & Tobago. hopefully they will expand on the 3-0 lead they have going into this game and easily qualify for the 2024 Copa America.
i should be on here tomorrow after mom has her physical therapy.
one thing i have noticed over the years is how the holidays normally will depress the shit out of me. as much as i have tried to eliminate the negativity in my life to help lift my mood, it doesn't always work that way. i keep playing something the muse said to me last night over and over in my head. this also reminds me why i am a poet. if i didn't know how to string the words together to make sense of this shit, i would be so frustrated that death would be the only option left.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i am only getting 3 1/2 hours of sleep anymore. but, i'm getting that in my massage chair with ice on my back, so it feels like it is better sleep for the most part. now, i wish i was one of these people that could sleep 8 hours like it was nothing. my brain is just too fucking active for that to happen i guess.

maybe it is simply a sign of just how fucking lonely i am. maybe it is because i feel the need to fall in love again, having missed that feeling for so long now. but, when what you believe is an amazing woman tells you that she comes from a rich family and just needs your credit card info to give you some of the money... this after weeks of getting to know each other, etc. etc. these are the moments where i do enjoy the asshole side of my brain. i can't fucking stand liars. i can't fucking stand con artists who think i actually have fucking money to begin with.
the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Don Winter.
as much as it pains me to see how many fucking idiots in this country voted for an asshole who is racist and a fucking fascist, i'm very happy that he will be a one term president. now, i'm sure he will sue everyone under the sun and urge all the republican governors to do the unthinkable, which i highly doubt they want that suicide mission, and i doubt he has the stomach to actually concede and leave office gracefully... just like the impeachment, this loss will never go away and will be the right ending for a fucking loser like Donald Trump.
i think i'm more happy that a female will actually be Vice President and it breaks a ceiling that should have been broken ages ago.
Real Time with Bill Maher last night was fucking great.

so, i was up at 7 this morning to watch Manchester United play at Everton. when United went down 1-0, my first thought was here we go again. thankfully, Bruno had other plans. he had 2 goals and an assist today as United won 3-1. it's amazing, anytime Ole looks like he is going to lose his job, the boys turn out a great performance for him. thankfully, they will go into the international break with some good vibes.
there are a good number of college football games i will probably watch today. Georgia plays Florida. Notre Dame takes on Clemson. and of course, i will watch Ohio State vs. Rutgers tonight.
mom and i had to take a drive this morning to do a favor for my sister. that only took 20 minutes, thankfully.
i did get the water shut off finally to the leaking toilet. that took down mom's stress a great deal. we're penny pinching like the world is ending anymore these days. so, she was happy she wouldn't have to call a plumber and pay weekend prices. i don't blame her.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. the Saints play tomorrow night, so i have a nice big window to get the blog done tomorrow.

so it started raining last night and still is as of this afternoon. joy.
i've been doing my laundry most of today. i woke up to some startling news.
first off, the New Orleans Saints traded back into the 7th round yesterday of the NFL Draft to select QB Tommy Stevens. he's a bit of a Taysom Hill clone, so i can see why they did it. and then this morning, the news broke that the Saints are going to sign Jameis Winston to a 1 year contract. talk about waking up in bizarro land. he's taking less money to go to the Saints. he must have seen what the Saints did for Teddy Bridgewater. the Saints also extended Taysom Hill today. 2 years and $21 million i believe. all in all, i like what the Saints did in the draft. i like some of the undrafted free agents they have signed. hopefully, this will be the year they win that elusive second Super Bowl.
here is your video for this day of National Poetry Month:
on the DVR tonight will be Batwoman, VICE, the series finale of Homeland, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, two episodes of The Last Dance, Atlanta's Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children, Westworld and Insecure.
i wrote 3 poems last night. i really like all 3 of them. if i get a wild hair up my ass, i might try to get some more poems out before the month is over.
i'll be right back, need to go fold some clothes...
i'm back. last load of laundry is now in the dryer. that should get done before i make dinner tonight.
mom has given me the cooking duties now. so, my imagination is going to have some fun. not too much, as my mother's palate stinks. so yeah, i'm hoping to do more than just get takeout most nights.
i guess tomorrow is supposed to be the only day without rain for the next three or four. joy.
i hope everyone had a good Saturday. i hope your Sunday has been even better.
