one of those days...

well, there was just enough rain in the area today that agony was the better word for pain. i feel like i didn't sleep at all, even though i know i did. i did ice my back down, that helped some. these are the days where i need a tub filled ice and i can just spend a few hours in it. or maybe Santa will bring me a morphine drip this Christmas. fingers crossed.

so, one of my favorite female poets contacted me last night and wants to do a little project with me. that certainly got the creative juices flowing. so, i have 10 poems to send her later today. i have wanted to work with her for years, so i'm really happy this creation is beginning.

the Dayton Flyers lost last night in the championship game down in Charleston to Houston, 69-55. at least they did get two quality wins down there. that should help build that tournament resume.

i did watch a few NFL games yesterday:

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

Shining Vale was hilarious last night.

Fellow Travelers was really good last night.

The Curse was great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and The Voice.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Dallas.

i will keep an eye on the NFL game tonight between the Eagles and Chiefs.

the USMNT plays tonight at Trinidad & Tobago. hopefully they will expand on the 3-0 lead they have going into this game and easily qualify for the 2024 Copa America.

i should be on here tomorrow after mom has her physical therapy.

one thing i have noticed over the years is how the holidays normally will depress the shit out of me. as much as i have tried to eliminate the negativity in my life to help lift my mood, it doesn't always work that way. i keep playing something the muse said to me last night over and over in my head. this also reminds me why i am a poet. if i didn't know how to string the words together to make sense of this shit, i would be so frustrated that death would be the only option left.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

gearing up for a long ass week...

now that mom is back into physical therapy, the weeks are going to be micro-managed to death. between her appointments and all the other shit i have to do, time to write this blog, poetry, etc. is going to have to be squeezed in where it can. so, don't be shocked if this blog has no set timetable for the next few weeks. i would love to get it done tomorrow in the morning as she has physical therapy in the afternoon and then i'm hoping to get an appointment to get my blood drawn. and of course, she wants to get her blood drawn at the same time.

the New York Rangers won at Florida yesterday, 4-3. thankfully, the "kid line" saved them after getting down 2-0. the boys are now just 2 points from clinching a playoff spot.

i did watch some MLS games last night:

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

half of the Final Four is now set. should be interesting to see who gets the final two spots today.

AEW Rampage was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Power Book II: Ghost, Yellowjackets and Succession.

i'm sure i will watch some hockey today as well as college basketball.

the wind finally has moved out of the area. thankfully, our power never went out. i certainly don't miss the windy days on the farm, always worrying about which tree was going to clip which power line.

if all goes well, i will be on here in the morning tomorrow. if not, the blog will be much later in the afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

maybe i enjoy the pain...

there was a creepy ass fog here last night and into the morning. the kind of fog that gives Stephen King a hard on. there was enough moisture that my arthritis was fucking killing me all damn night and all of this morning. so, between the arthritis and my pinched nerve in my neck, shaving was a bit of a fucking chore today. but, i got it done. the grocery shopping was done in the rain today. that wasn't any fucking fun. besides, bagging my own groceries at Kroger is always an interesting job. i did get some baseball cards at Rite Aid today. there was about $10 worth in the box.

here are your three videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

the New York Rangers won last night in New Jersey, 3-1.

NXT was excellent last night.

Young Rock was pretty funny last night.

Name That Tune was very good last night.

Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off was an excellent documentary last night. i highly recommend it.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite, Snowfall and The Masked Singer.

i should be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her doctor's appointment.

the New York Yankees home opener has been pushed back to Friday. i'm sure i will find some game to watch tomorrow to get a long nap to.

if i get a wild hair up my ass tonight, i'm going to try do some recordings.

where did this month go

i can tell when i don't get enough sleep as the days just seem to constantly roll together. if i get 5 hours at night anymore it's like i won the lottery. i'm sure i'll be dead before i hit 50.

the New York Yankees left a small village on base yesterday and couldn't come up with any 9th inning magic this time. they lost to Tampa 5-3. they start a series with Detroit tonight. thankfully, Boston lost yesterday so the Yankees are still in first place in the division. i'm hoping the Yankees make a trade today for another starter. i do like the trade they made yesterday for Jaime Garcia. now, go get Sonny Gray please.

i did watch a little of the Hall of Fame ceremonies yesterday. i'm so happy for Tim Raines. he was one of my favorite players as a kid. he should have been in the hall years ago.

Manchester United won 3-0 yesterday in Norway. i only got see a little of the game. i think someone in Saudi Arabia was streaming it on Twitter yesterday. i am very happy with the player they signed today.

Big Brother went as i expected last night. if you aren't watching the feeds online, you are missing so much.

Power was excellent once again last night.

Ballers was really good last night.

Insecure was great last night.

The Strain was really damn good last night.

Twin Peaks was another delicious mind fuck last night.

I'm Dying up Here was excellent last night. made me miss my days of doing drugs.

Last Week Tonight was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i need to get ready to take mom to her physical therapy appointment. she's really making some progress now, so i think we're coming up on her last few appointments. just in time for her to get the cataracts in both eyes taken care of.

apparently, my pain radius is around 100 miles or so

i tossed and turned all night long last night. i couldn't get my back into a comfortable position for most of it. my arthritis was killing me. i figured it had to be raining. when i finally got up, it wasn't raining at all. that rain was down in southern Ohio/northern Kentucky. so i'm guessing if i have to move somewhere so i don't feel the pain of rain coming and going, i'll be going to a desert somewhere. good times.

the New York Yankees pissed away a golden chance yesterday to gain ground in the playoff race by losing to Houston 4-1. in other words, they went back to reality. they are off tonight. they start a series in that dump in Tampa tomorrow.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. i knew Michelle had won the VETO comp, but i was more impressed with how she did it. i'm pretty sure Frank will be evicted tonight, unless the producers decide to pull some bullshit.

Tyrant was excellent last night. the show is incredibly real at times, especially with the drone attacks and the deaths of children, etc. i was stunned by the end of the show, but i should have seen it coming.

NXT was great last night. i love that they have set up Samoa Joe vs. Nakamura for the next Takeover event in Brooklyn. dream match alert. plus, it was so cool to watch Ibushi make his NXT debut.

CWC was excellent last night as well. i really enjoyed watching Zack Sabre, Jr. wrestle. he is fucking amazing.

Any Given Wednesday was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother and Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

i will say one thing, the man can give a speech:

i listened to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. it was a classic interview with Michael Cole, plus a recap from the world of wrestling. check it out by going here:

if i would have felt better today, i'm sure i would have at least started my laundry. i still have two toilets to clean. good times.

at least the fucking weekend is closer to being here.

i hope this finds everyone hoping that the political season would already be over.

amazing what one can do with 6 hours of sleep

i woke up about 2 hours later than normal this morning. i looked at the clock and was like holy shit. i think i got almost 6 hours of sleep. and since i was home alone most of the day, i got some shit done. clean the toilets, vacuum the house, feed the birds, put away the dishes, etc... hopefully my mother will be happy.

so the Manchester United bomb scare yesterday was a fake bomb left behind by a private security company from a training exercise. jesus fucking christ. how fucking hard is to count the number of fake bombs you put out and then count again when you are done to know you got them all? so the game will be replayed tomorrow. just great. hopefully no one gets hurt as United plays in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

the New York Yankees won yesterday, 7-5. to take 2 out of 3 from a really hot White Sox team was pretty impressive. it looks like the back of the bullpen could be great, if their arms don't fucking fall off from being used everyday. the boys are on the road in Arizona tonight. hopefully they keep the wins coming.

House of Lies was pretty funny last night. Silicon Valley was hilarious. Veep was really fucking funny, especially considering how much death i've been around in my life. Penny Dreadful was amazing as usual. the ending was a mind fuck of epic proportions. and Last Week Tonight was great as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw and then some things on WWE Network.

i did watch a little of the playoff game last night between San Jose and St. Louis. the Blues won Game 1 2-1. i could easily see this series going 7 games.

i think the conference finals start in the NBA tonight. if i'm up late, i might try to catch the last 5 minutes or so.

i listened to the latest Sam & Cathy podcast today.
give it a listen by going here: http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/5/16/sam-cathy-011-so-millennial

today was definitely one of those days where i would have loved to go to sleep outside. it felt great out there when i was feeding the birds. hopefully the birds get to the food before the fucking squirrels do.

that's all for me today. i'll be on after the Manchester United game tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

what to do when you're at the kitchen table and you hear the tornado sirens going off...

so i was driving mom home from a doctor's appointment this afternoon and it was raining pretty hard. as we were listening to the radio, they broke in to say there was a tornado warning for where we live. now, i have been one of those guys that has been fascinated with weather since i was a child. so, i did what i thought was best; drive to where the tornado warning was. as we got closer, i looked for anything that looked like a funnel cloud. since i didn't see anything and mom wanted something for lunch, i went to Arby's. after we got the food, we headed home. by this time, the warning had been cancelled. so we sat down to eat lunch. as we were eating, the tornado sirens went off. we both sort of just looked at each other and then kept eating. i guess mom has the same attitude about death that i do. if it's my time, it's my time, fuck it. a couple hours later i started to see video from about a mile or two from here of a funnel cloud that took off a roof and destroyed a barn. that's the closest i've been to one in about a decade. so, just another average Monday.

the rain has been pretty constant since yesterday afternoon. it rained a little on the drive up to Columbus for the hockey game yesterday. but it must have rained for the entire game as my arthritis was fucking killing me. the game was pretty boring as Tampa was killing Columbus for most of it. i did enjoy the Columbus fans getting all over Tampa's goalie for diving, and on the refs for taking away a goal that should have counted. Tampa won 4-0.

after the game, we went out to eat. i wanted to see some of the Selection Sunday show, mostly to see where the Dayton Flyers would be going. we got a table in time to see most of the show. now, i had no clue at this point that the bracket had already been leaked online. so i was pretty nervous when Dayton was one of the last teams announced. Dayton got a 7 seed and plays against Syracuse in St. Louis on Friday. they beat Syracuse a couple of years ago on their way to the Elite 8, so i'm guessing Syracuse might want some revenge. if Dayton can get past them, they will most likely play Michigan State. fuck me. if they somehow pull off the miracle and reach the Sweet 16, i have no fucking clue how they keep Archie Miller as their coach. he's young and obviously a fucking miracle worker. this is the first time Dayton has made the tournament in 3 straight seasons since the late 60's.

it rained the entire drive home. mom wasn't feeling good at all. she told me that the hockey game was just too much for her anymore and she won't be getting those tickets again next year. this makes me wonder how she'll be when we're supposed to go to Cleveland to see the New York Yankees play in July.

i caught up on all the Sunday shows when we got back home. Vinyl was really good this week. Girls was very good, great ending. Togetherness was great once again. Shameless was brilliant as always. Billions had a perfect ending this week. that show is sneaky great. and Last Week Tonight was awesome as usual.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, Gotham and an interview with Dan Patrick. i will be watching Monday Night Raw.

thankfully, i didn't watch much of the New York Rangers yesterday. they lost to Pittsburgh 5-3. talk about a wasted weekend.

i did see that Manchester United scored a late goal to get a 1-1 draw with West Ham. this means they have to play the game again, this time at West Ham. if United can somehow win that game (not likely), they will play Everton in the FA Cup semifinals.

a big thank you to Juan Pablo Montoya for winning yesterday so i could actually have a victory beer.

i have spent most of today filling out brackets at various websites for March Madness. most of them i have either North Carolina, Kansas or Michigan State winning it all. it would not surprise me at all if someone else wins it this season.

i did listen to the latest Sam & Cathy podcast today. brought back some memories of the farm:
check it out at http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/3/14/sam-cathy-002-c

you ever hear a certain song on the radio...

so last night was a little weird. we got a phone call from next door saying that my uncle is now in remission. how the fuck can someone go from one day having cancer spread to the liver to being in remission in 24 hours? now, the one good thing about all of this, the doctor that told him he was in remission is the same doctor that was my stepfather's cancer doctor. so his word carries a little more weight than these other assholes in my book. so, i'm happy for my uncle, but i really hope no one thinks remission actually means cancer free.

it has been snowing here all day long. amazingly, i think we might have a 1/4 inch of accumulation. hopefully it stays that way.

NXT was really good last night. i am thrilled to see Austin Aries in NXT. too many people have no clue how fucking great he actually is. and the main event between Finn Balor and Neville was off the charts great.

Lucha Underground was amazing, as usual. the ladder match was about as violent as i have seen a ladder match be in years. plus, the awesome storytelling that comes with every episode was top notch once again.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Life in Pieces, WWE Smackdown and Baskets.

the New York Rangers play at Pittsburgh tonight. i did see that Rick Nash skated a little today in practice. he's about 2 weeks away from returning. hopefully the boys can continue to play well in his absence. tonight will be a strong test for them. hopefully i'll be enjoying a victory beer later tonight.

i've been swimming in nostalgia today in music. i happened to hear a song from The Replacements yesterday when i was driving and it has been stuck in my head ever since. one thing leads to another and i'm digging through all my music to find some songs from the 90's. you'll see it all in the music section below.

i took a long hot shower this afternoon, hoping that would help my arthritis some. i believe any relief i got is starting to wear off right now. good times.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i think mom has a physical therapy appointment in the afternoon. so, i'll probably be on here in the early evening or so.

i hope this finds everyone figuring out what words of praise you want to say for the three poems i got published today.
