the likely chance of dying alone...

so, my mother can't seem to get her blood pressure at a reasonable level. there is a more than likely chance that i will need to take her to the emergency room soon. good times.

your poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is James D. Casey IV. he is another one that i always find the time to read.

the New York Yankees lost to Tampa last night, 8-2. the Yankees now have the worst record in the American League. good times.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at home against New Jersey. hopefully, the boys will win again.

i will probably watch more of the hockey game than the Yankees game on at the same time.

i will also probably watch some of the MLS this afternoon and evening.

i have no clue if my sister is coming down here today or not. i guess her health is betraying her at the moment as well.

i should be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays, hopefully.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

rain on the way says my arthritic left ankle...

i tried to go to bed at a decent hour last night, hoping i would get some sleep. it was more like 5 plus hours of tossing and turning, with my left ankle feeling like it was going to explode. good times.

the New York Yankees lost last night in Chicago, 10-2 to the White Sox. that's 3 losses in a row now. thank god Stanton and Judge have started their rehab assignments.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

Los Espookys was fucking great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i do plan on watching some soccer today. the U-20 final is on right now. i know Canada plays later this afternoon in the Women's World Cup. also, the Gold Cup starts tonight.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

i will probably be on here after the USA women play tomorrow. tomorrow is also my mother's birthday. she hasn't mentioned if she wants to go out or not. my sister won't be down here until next weekend.

enjoy the weekend boys and girls. until tomorrow...

it's getting hot and humid, must be the short temper season...

i think Spain vs. Portugal was one of the more entertaining World Cup games i have ever watched. 3-3 didn't hurt either. of course, CR7 saved Portugal, getting his 3rd goal late. the other games today both had very late goals. Uruguay fucked around and allowed Egypt to stay close all game until they got a goal to win it late. Iran got an own goal from Morocco very late to win that game 1-0. those are the kind of goals that get people killed, think 1994 and Colombia. the games tomorrow are France vs. Australia, Argentina vs. Iceland, Peru vs. Denmark and Croatia vs. Nigeria.

i believe Debbie Kirk got some good news regarding her cancer today. i will let her share that with the world here: https://www.gofundme.com/5m0wfqg

the New York Yankees won last night, 4-3 over Tampa. Gleyber Torres to the rescue once again. the kid is fucking amazing. the Yankees are calling up a kid from AA to make his major league debut tonight. that should be interesting.

Lip Sync Battle was good last night.

i submitted my poetry chapbook to Analog Submission Press today. i have a good feeling about it, but i don't want to feel really good until it (hopefully) gets accepted to be published. it's hard to believe i haven't done any kind of book in 2 years.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW, Major League Wrestling, Real Time with Bill Maher and the season finale of Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas.

my sister is down here for part of the weekend. mom turns 65 tomorrow. she doesn't want a party or anything, and the weather is going to be hotter than fuck tomorrow. so, it might just be sitting around in the air conditioning enjoying some birthday cake.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow. if i happen to be awake when France is playing at 6 in the morning, there just might be a damn blog coming out around that time as well.

i did find out today that i need to take the Highlander in on Monday morning to have it fixed. i believe they are giving us a Rav4 to drive while the Highlander is in the shop. i know mom is thinking about getting a new vehicle. i can't imagine why. she's only had the Highlander for almost 17 years.

between the World Cup and baseball and the amount of professional wrestling this weekend, i'm going to be a busy boy.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. if it's going to be hot where you are, remember the joys of alcohol and heat.

it's just an extra hour for me to be busy doing nothing

i just love how the news makes a big deal of turning your clocks back a hour. even when i was a child, i never got any extra sleep because of that. it was just an extra hour to be fucking bored. i just have to make sure i set the clocks before my old ass falls asleep tonight. i've got a busy Sunday morning, but that's for tomorrow...

i am looking forward to seeing the Dayton Flyers play tonight at UD Arena. mom is planning on going, so that should be interesting. she missed all of last season. i figure the team will be playing a completely different style. if it is like the VCU teams that Anthony Grant coached, i will enjoy it. when i played basketball, we pressed constantly, trapped, always looked to turn defense into offense. it makes the game so much easier to play. i'm sure Coach Grant will have some nerves tonight given he graduated from Dayton. they are playing Ohio Dominican, so i'm really hoping for a blowout in this exhibition game.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows. i never knew Scrabble was so fucking popular in Nigeria.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus was part 2 of Waylon Jennings last night. i laughed my ass off once again.

Real Time with Bill Maher was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Get Out, Saturday Night Live and ROH.

the New York Rangers will look to continue their winning streak tonight at the Florida Panthers. i'll miss most of the game while i'm at the basketball game.

Ohio State plays at Iowa this afternoon. this has trap game written all over it. hopefully that's not the case.

i'll be on here tomorrow (hopefully) in the morning, before Manchester United takes on Chelsea. that game will go right into the New Orleans Saints game. so i guess i'll be using my extra hour to do the blog.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

waking to a thunderstorm

when i heard the thunder, i could immediately feel pain in both of my shoulders. arthritis. good times.

to give you a little glimpse into my life, imagine this. i'm sitting on the toilet taking a shit when i hear someone on the television say go to our website and tell us why your father is the greatest. i started to laugh and said loud enough for my mother to hear, because he's dead.

i was surprised though when i opened the garage door this morning and the empty trash cans were already brought up to the door. i'm figuring someone next door did that, or maybe it was magic.

Copa America Update:
Chile defeated Panama 4-2 in a very entertaining game last night. Argentina beat Bolivia 3-0 in a game where Argentina showed just how deep they are. there are no games today as the quarterfinals start tomorrow. here are how the quarterfinals look: USA vs. Ecuador, Peru vs. Colombia, Argentina vs. Venezuela and Mexico vs. Chile. the rest of the Copa America should be really, really good.

Euro 2016 update:
Portugal and Iceland played to a 1-1 draw yesterday. hats off to Iceland's defense for parking the bus and getting a hard earned point. i did watch a little of Slovakia defeating Russia 2-1 this morning. currently, Romania is leading Switzerland at halftime 1-0. the final match of the day will be France vs. Albania.

Deadliest Catch was pretty good last night. it did a good job showing why that job is too expensive to have fuck ups. here's a preview of next week's episode:

Maya & Marty continued to be funnier than it probably should be. last night's episode had me howling at times.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground. i'll be watching NXT on WWE Network at some point tonight.

the New York Yankees lost 13-10 last night. the game reminded me why i hate games out in Colorado. they are like slow pitch softball games. hopefully, the Yankees will win this afternoon.

what the fuck is going on in Orlando, Florida?

at some point later today i'm going to catch up on a few podcasts and get some writing done. i know i'd like to get some poems written before i get too deep into the summer.

Switzerland just scored to even the game with Romania.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade last night. i'll put the links down in the music section.

that's all for me kids. i need to go check the mail and get some lunch.

avoiding the trap

today is Father's Day. i would normally celebrate this day by writing a series of poems about my shitty father. i've decided to avoid that today. i think i have beaten that horse too often. instead, i will do today just like my father is doing, pretending the other doesn't exist.

mom and i went to this food truck yesterday that comes into town every other week or so for some BBQ. i had some really damn good brisket, some slaw, mac&cheese... really good.

speaking of my mother, she turns 61 tomorrow. let me just say, she's not exactly looking forward to it.

the Yankees lost 5-1 last night/early this morning. they had some lights go out in that dump out there in Oakland, so that delayed the game for about 45 minutes. the offense ran into a pitcher that has owned them here lately. they will go for the series win this afternoon.

in World Cup action yesterday, i thought Colombia looked the best. they beat Greece 3-0. Italy defeated England 2-1 in a game that was pretty entertaining, especially if you dislike the English. Costa Rica came from behind to stun Uruguay 3-1. as a guy who dislikes Luis Suarez immensely, this made me very happy. and lastly, Ivory Coast came from behind to beat Japan, 2-1. just call it the Drogba effect.

today starts off with Switzerland vs. Ecuador. next is France vs. Honduras. and lastly will be Argentina vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina. hopefully there will be plenty of goals like the rest of the games. it doesn't help me sleep but it does keep me entertained.

not sure if i will watch much of Game 5 tonight in the NBA Finals. probably just a glance or two.

my Sunday night shows will start with Showtime tonight. Nurse Jackie, Californication, and my current favorite, Penny Dreadful. and then i have some time to kill before Last Week Tonight on HBO. i suppose in that time to kill i should actually finish my mother's birthday gifts.

ROH was excellent last night. a great match between Adam Cole and Kevin Steen finished off the show. if the rumors are true, i can't wait to see what Kevin is able to do in the WWE.

that's all for me today. i've got toilets to clean, trash to pick up, ungrateful cats to feed, breakfast to eat, and a bad back to stretch out before the games start today.

hope this finds everyone well, enjoying your weekend. to all the good fathers out there, hope you have a great day. to all the bad ones, mine included, wake the fuck up or die already. that is if your dumb ass hasn't changed the life insurance policy already.
