part of feeling much older than you really are in my beliefs is never getting your expectations up. i guess i learned as a child to always prepare for the worst. and then preparation became this mindset where i expected nothing but the bad. so, i never knew how to handle the good, if the good ever would happen. now, it has happened a few times in my life. and as much as i want to think i handle success well, i know i haven't had near the amount of success that i really crave. and that brings me back to expectations. this is why i am a huge supporter of drugs. all of us need to get out of our fucking heads at times. and i know i'm at the stage of life where i really need to get out of my head. i mean third eye so open every ray of the sun fills whatever room i'm in. so yeah, i was hoping that was going to be what today was going to be about. but it wasn't. so, hopefully, tomorrow.
i did go to the bank today and deposit the check mom gave me. i then went to Big Lots and found some football, basketball and 1 pack of baseball cards. i got 5 packs of cards for around $26. there was over $80 worth of cards in them. that made me happy.

the sun came out today. that lifted my mood a great deal. i went to the bank and made a deposit. after that, i headed down to Big Lots to see if they had any baseball cards. i did buy some 2020 Topps Heritage while i was there. i also watched a fun little argument between this older black woman and an employee at the store. i was pleasantly surprised at the number of times motherfucker was used in the argument. i did get some pretty decent cards today. nothing crazy, but it was close to being worth what i paid..
the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Carolina, 33-7. the defense had 5 interceptions yesterday. the offense managed to be pretty balanced, even with all the regular running backs out. they will play next Sunday at home against the Bears in the first round of the playoffs.
the season finale of Power Book II: Ghost was fucking crazy last night. loved it.

so, when i was out to pick up the meds for my mother and i, i decided to do a little baseball card hunting. i found some 2020 Topps Heritage at Big Lots. i found some 2020-2021 Upper Deck Young Guns hockey cards at Meijer. i also got some 2020 Topps Gallery and 2020 Bowman Platinum while i was there. in the Heritage cards, i got a Bryce Harper short print and a numbered Tim Anderson card that are worth more than i paid for all 5 packs. i found some pretty good cards in the hockey packs, the best being a Connor McDavid card. i found another Luis Robert rookie card in the Bowman Platinum blaster box i got. all in all, i am pretty pleased with what i got.

so, mom gave me a laundry list of items to go find today. and of course, nothing matches up between the website and the actual store. i had to go to Lowe's to get most of it. just imagine how efficient a store could be if the employees actually knew where shit was... i think i was in there for almost 2 hours. i did find everything i was looking for, but fuck me that took forever. i had some gift cards to use, so that took the total under $100. after that i went to Big Lots, mostly for myself. i found some baseball cards (2020 Topps Heritage), a new Darth Vader coffee mug, a Batman figurine i didn't have, a new toothbrush and i got some Christmas cocoa for mom. i had a coupon for all of that as well. i did find a nice Juan Soto short print in the baseball cards, so that made me happy.
mom gave me money to pick up lunch on the way home. of course, she wanted fish and i wanted Arby's. thankfully, McDonald's is right across the street from Arby's. by the time i got home, not only was i hungry but completely worn out. and of course, mom is on this fucking quest to redo her closet in her bedroom, so my afternoon, while it should've been spent writing this or icing down a horrific bad back... it was spent listening to a stubborn old woman bitch about doing shit wrong, not having enough strength to use a drill, etc. etc. i'm not sure how many fucking times i have to tell her that her pride will be her downfall, but i imagine it will still be said while she is fighting death. fuck me.

i have been pretty busy today. i know when i don't eat lunch until 5 PM, it's been a long day.
i went to the post office to mail off the baseball cards i sold. that went pretty easy. after that, i had to go my mother's bank to make a deposit and get money out of her account. of course, since i'm not on her account, i couldn't do it the way she thought i could. thankfully, she gave me her ATM card, so i was able to get the money out that way. then, i had to drive 20 minutes in the other direction to go to my bank to make a deposit. after that, i went to Meijer to see if i could find some baseball cards and some other things mom needed. i did find some cards, more on that in a bit. i also got some hand soap that my mother loves and a paring knife. after that, i went to Kroger to get the stuff mom forgot to put on the grocery list. amazingly, i also found some toilet paper while i was there. there was none at Meijer earlier.
i got a hanger box of Topps Gallery 2020 and a hanger box of Bowman Platinum 2020 at Meijer. i got some really good cards in both, including another Luis Robert rookie card (Bowman Platinum). all in all, i think i probably made another good investment. then, this afternoon, i was on the Panini site looking at cards and found an Obi Toppin rookie card for $9.99. i jumped all over that. so yeah, i'm feeling pretty good about what i got done today.

the sun was out today, a complete 180 from yesterday. it was windy and a little cold, but a pretty nice day for this late in October.
i had to go pick up my prescription from the pharmacy today. i decided to check and see if i could find any baseball cards at Walgreens. of course, there was none. the grocery store was fucking packed. this is why i stopped getting groceries on Fridays. mom wanted a frozen Coke from Burger King. i went there on my way home. they were only taking exact change or credit cards. that's a perfect example of 2020. using a fucking credit card at a fast food place.

i think the only thing i ever really got into at Halloween, other than the candy, was the evil. i love something that is really creepy and sinister. i guess i always got a better glimpse into my imagination when it got to this time of year. of course, i also remember going out trick or treating in a fucking winter coat. hard to be cool when you are layered up and can barely see. good times.
