imagine if i could actually get some good sleep...

i really tried to sleep in my bed last night. i couldn't find a comfortable position for anything. after 45 minutes, i gave up and went out to the living room. if i get some ice on my back in my massage chair, i'm usually out in a few minutes. i got close to 4 hours in that chair last night and a good long nap watching tennis this morning. i guess Dan Soder's line is correct... you want to get some sleep? eat a big meal. it never fails.

the New York Yankees came from behind yesterday in the top of the 9th and defeated San Francisco, 7-5. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series at home against the Twins tomorrow.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:

the Stanley Cup Final is set. Game 1 will be Edmonton at Florida on Saturday night.

The Chi was very good last night.

Last Week Tonight was EXCELLENT as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Name That Tune and Monday Night Raw.

i did get my shipment of sports cards i ordered today. i was hoping they would be better but i did get a few good ones and plenty of cards i had never seen before. so, the collector in me loved that. the businessman man in me wants to kill that little fucker.

i think i am going to go to Rite Aid when i get this done to pick up my pills. i'll make dinner when i get back home.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning. i'm going to try to get the blog done before mom has physical therapy in the afternoon.

until tomorrow kids...

back pain and busted knuckles...

so, after the Ohio State game yesterday (more on that in a bit) i went out to clean the windows. between the wind, my bad back and busting my knuckles trying to get hoses on and off, there was no combination of ice, alcohol and drugs that could have taken the pain away. joy.

Ohio State defeated Iowa yesterday, 54-10. honestly, the game felt closer than that for most of it. Ohio State's defense played great yesterday. Ohio State plays at Penn State next week.

Manchester United got a late goal from Casemiro to earn a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday at home to Houston, 5-0. i fully expect them to get swept tonight in Game 4. and i truly hope, Hal Steinbrenner grows a set of balls after that and lets Cashman go (he's been there long enough) and fires Aaron Boone. it is well beyond obvious now that something needs to change.

here are your highlights from the MLB playoffs yesterday:

The Caverns Sessions had The Watkins Family Hour on last night. it was excellent.

Austin City Limits was great last night.

NXT Halloween Havoc was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Let The Right One In and the season finale for Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. hopefully, the Rangers will get back to winning.

i do plan on watching the MLS playoffs today as well.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

deja vu usually stinks...

so, as i watching the Yankees game yesterday, they brought up the stat that the Astros no-hit them in a combined no-hitter 19 years ago. and sure enough, they did it again yesterday. the Yankees struck out 15 fucking times yesterday and lost 3-0. they need to win today to split the series. it is painfully obvious that the Astros are still in their fucking heads.

i did watch plenty of the MLS yesterday.

the USWNT defeated Colombia last night, 3-0.

i did get my pills (finally) at Rite Aid yesterday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Westworld, Last Week Tonight, VICE, The Chi, The Man Who Fell To Earth and Flatbush Misdemeanors. i'll be watching the Forbidden Door ppv (AEW & NJPW) for most of the evening.

Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight. i'm not going to be shocked if there is going to be a Game 7.

it is supposed to rain today at some point. i get the feeling i'll have to water the tomato plants anyway.

i hope everyone had a good Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

laundry day, take 2...

so, mom decided she was going to do her laundry yesterday. and then, after watching it sit there for hours and hours, i asked her if she wanted my help doing her laundry. she asked why and i said i would like to do my laundry this weekend and i know if i wait on you to finish yours, i'll get to do mine on Thursday or Friday. so, i did her 3 loads last night. and now, as soon as i get this done, i'll do my 3 loads of laundry.

i think it was just hot enough in the house last night, and i had just enough alcohol in me, that given my back pain, i more or less just passed out in my massage chair. i woke up this morning at 5:15. the front door was still open and ESPN was still on. in hindsight, i should have just stayed in the chair. i got 2 lousy hours of sleep in my bed. god i just love having a pinched nerve.

i finally saw The Batman last night. i really enjoyed it. probably my second favorite Batman movie, only behind The Dark Knight. i thought Paul Dano was magnificent as the Riddler. he was so fucking creepy, it was great.

the Yankees won yesterday against Cleveland, 5-4. of course, everyone is talking about the Yankees fans throwing beer and shit at the Cleveland players. i can't defend the Yankees fans that did that. all i will say is the Cleveland player that climbed the fence to confront the Yankees fans in left field was stupid as fuck to do that. i am old enough to know when you dare incite a rabid fan base, you are asking for it. he should be happy this isn't the 70's and 80's or the beer would have been batteries, etc. the Yankees go for the sweep today. hopefully they will get it without any incidents.

the New York Rangers lost to Boston yesterday, 3-1. that probably means they are going to finish second in the division. they will at least have home ice for the first round, most likely against the Penguins.

here are your NBA highlights from the playoffs yesterday:

here are your 3 videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

enjoy some music:

welcome to August...

hard to believe its fucking August already. damn.

so, the Yankees won again last night down in Miami over the Marlins, 4-2. Anthony Rizzo hit another homer. i can't wait to see the ovation he gets in the Bronx. hopefully, the Yankees will get the sweep this afternoon.

ROH was excellent last night. it was the start of the women's tournament.

i did watch a little of the MLS and TBT last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The White Lotus, Last Week Tonight, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Big Brother, Desus & Mero and the season finales of The Chi, Black Monday and Flatbush Misdemeanors.

the finale of the Gold Cup is tonight. USA vs. Mexico. i'd love to see the USA win tonight.

hopefully, i will get my laundry finished before that game starts tonight.

i should be on here tomorrow when i get back from taking mom to her doctor's appointment.

i guess i got a little lucky...

my back was killing me this morning. the ice didn't really help, but i knew i had to get the grocery shopping done. i went to Rite Aid first, just to see if they had any baseball cards. they are behind the counter now, like cigarettes. fucking hilarious. i did get a Fairfield box that cost me $5. next to that Rite Aid is the local grocery store i go to. i found what i was looking for there and took all that back home. for shits and giggles, i decided to go to Big Lots since they usually have the Diet Coke cans mom likes on sale. of course, they didn't have any. but, i did stumble upon baseball, football and wrestling cards. i got the one pack of 2018 Topps WWE they had. i got 3 packs of 2021 Topps Heritage and 3 packs of 2021 Score football cards. all of that cost me under $45. so, i got all the cards today for less than $50. after going through everything, i probably have around $200 worth of cards, thanks to some great rookie cards in the Score packs. Kroger was my last stop today. i found everything on the list. i somehow kept it under $130. i made it home in time to watch some of the Euro 2020 games this afternoon. more on that in a bit.

NXT was really good last night.

Deadliest Catch was excellent last night.

Mr. Inbetween was pretty funny last night.

the Yankees left a small village on base last night. of course, they have done that all fucking season. they lost to the Royals, 6-5. hopefully, they will find a way to win tonight.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:

the Detroit Pistons won the NBA Draft lottery last night.

so, the Euro 2020 today was fucking crazy. Sweden defeated Poland, 3-2. Spain defeated Slovakia, 5-0. Germany and Hungary ended 2-2 as did Portugal and France. the round of 16 is now set.

Wales plays Denmark. Italy takes on Austria. Netherlands will play Czech Republic. Belgium plays Portugal. Croatia will play Spain. France will play Switzerland. Sweden will take on Ukraine. and finally, England will play Germany. the first two of those matches will start on Saturday.

today in the Copa America, Ecuador and Peru finished 2-2. later tonight, Brazil will play Colombia.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight.

i will watch some of the NHL and NBA playoffs as well as the Copa America tonight.

i now have to figure out what i'm making for dinner. my mother likes to play this game where she will act like she doesn't care and then not like what i want to make. so lately, i've been forcing her to make the decision.

thanks to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:

snowing in the sunshine...

the sun was out for a little bit today. right as i pulled into the bank today, it started to snow. by the time i got home from picking up some lunch for mom, it was snowing sideways. none of it really stuck, but i was happy not to be driving in it.

NXT UK was really good last night.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Total Bellas was really good last night.

Cari & Jemele Won't Stick to Sports was hilarious last night.

the New York Rangers lost to the Islanders last night 4-0. honestly, the boys took way too fucking many penalties. add in the nerves from the kids and a few shots a goalie has to save, and you have one fucking night to forget. the two teams play again on Saturday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown and Real Time with Bill Maher. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Yankees made me very happy today with the signings of DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge. now, if they can add some pitching to the team, they should be able to make another run at a title. today is the deadline to get all their arbitration eligible players signed.

i should be on here in the morning tomorrow.

still raining...

i'm hoping that most of the heavy rain is over for today. i don't want to be aching all day long...

so, Ohio State got outplayed and outcoached yesterday, but still won over Indiana 42-35.

it's probably a good thing i wasn't able to watch Manchester United yesterday. judging from all the highlights, their 1-0 victory over West Brom was boring as fuck.

i did watch some of MLS playoffs yesterday, UFC and college football.

Between The World And Me was amazing last night. that should be required viewing for every human on earth.

Austin City Limits had The Mavericks on last night, it was very good.

ROH was very good last night.

squeezing 24 hours into 6 or so...

i told my mother the other day i am micro-managing my life down to the second. today is a perfect example.

i woke up this morning in time to watch the MLS game between Cincinnati and Atlanta. i was a bit shocked when Cincinnati won 1-0.

the mail came during the game, and one of my packages showed up from Amazon.com. since i have been going through all my cards recently, i have been putting the ones worth money into hard cases while the lesser ones go into softer sleeves. i got 75 toploaders today and used every single one of them. i went through my 1986 Topps Football cards last night, just to see if i had anything worth some money. you can imagine my reaction when i realized i had a Jerry Rice rookie card. HOLY FUCK!!!! that card is worth around $300 or so. so yeah, i found a few cards worth some money. so, if you are looking to buy some football cards, send me an email...

i went to the bank today. i was going to go tomorrow because mom wanted to go to her bank today. she forgot she had a phone call appointment with the doctor's assistant today. so, i went instead. i got to the bank and there was no line. i was thrilled. ten minutes later, they actually got to my deposit i sent through the tube. fuck me. i nearly fell asleep.

i got back home in time to watch Manchester United play Crystal Palace. United won 2-0. i wish they would have scored some more goals. they are in 5th place on goal differential. the team in 4th place and United play on the last day of the Premier League season. oh boy.

NXT was really good last night.

AEW was really good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Holey Moley, Don't, Cake, the special 30 Rock (which won't air on my NBC until 2 in the fucking morning) and Desus & Mero. i'll watch NXT UK sometime tonight on WWE Network.

as busy as i try to keep myself, i sometimes forget to check my fucking email. so, i had around 300 of them or so when i finally checked them today.

a big thank you to everyone who has checked out my latest published poems. i really do appreciate it.

a Sunday i would like to forget ever happened...

first off, i was never that much into the Cars when i was growing up, but i did love the work Ric Ocasek did as a producer for No Doubt, Weezer, Guided by Voices, etc. rest in peace, you have earned it.

the New Orleans Saints lost yesterday to the Rams, 27-9. the fucking refs blew another call against the Saints, this time costing them a defensive touchdown. and the league wants to say they don't have it out for the Saints. right. they also missed the play where a Rams player ripped off a Saints player's helmet and punched him in the face. Drew Brees fucked up his thumb on his throwing hand early in the game. that kind of threw everything off for the rest of the game. it looks like Drew is going to need surgery for his thumb and could miss 6 to 8 weeks. the Saints have the highest paid backup in the NFL. time to see if Teddy Bridgewater is worth it.

the New York Yankees lost to Toronto yesterday, 6-4. they are off tonight and start their final homestand of the season tomorrow night against the Angels. the magic number is down to 3, so i do believe they will clinch the division at home.

WWE Clash of Champions was pretty good last night.

Big Brother was good last night. Michie deserves a fucking award for pulling that lie off. and since i know Michie won the VETO, i'm pretty sure Cliff will be the one evicted from the final four.

Power was fucking awesome last night.

Succession was very good last night.

The Righteous Gemstones was hilarious last night.

Ballers was good last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

The Affair was excellent last night.

On Becoming A God in Central Florida was very funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Deuce. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i will probably watch some of the Monday night game between the Browns and Jets.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i'm sure the birds are happy...

somehow, the rain that was supposed to come yesterday never did. that gave me the chance to finally get outside and feed the birds. i had to throw away the one feeder the squirrels destroyed trying to get to the sunflower seeds. and then there were some solar lights that the weather had ruined that needed to go in the trash. i did fill up all the good feeders with some seed and put out the hummingbird feeder as mom said she has seen a couple near the house the last few days. when i got up this morning, there was at least 1 bird on every feeder, so i'm guessing they are happy.

the New York Yankees won last night over the Astros, 7-5. they will go for the sweep this afternoon. i did catch a little of the Old Timer's Day festivities this morning. it was a blast to see Mariano Rivera hit an inside the park home run during the game. he could probably still play if he wanted to.

i was pleased with what the New York Rangers did in the NHL Draft yesterday. i was a little surprised they didn't make any trades. this is going to be a very interesting off-season in the NHL.

the USMNT destroyed Trinidad & Tobago last night, 6-0. that was a pleasant sight to see.

in the other Gold Cup game last night, Panama defeated Guyana 4-2. tonight, Canada plays Cuba and Mexico takes on Martinique.

in the Women's World Cup, yesterday Germany defeated Nigeria 3-0. Norway ousted Australia in a crazy game. the game finished 1-1 and then Norway won on penalty kicks, 4-1. this morning England defeated Cameroon, 3-0. later today, France takes on Brazil.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i wrote 2 poems last night. i typed those up this morning. i really like them. i'm really hoping i find the time this coming week to get another round of submissions out.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Axios, Big Little Lies, Euphoria, Last Week Tonight, Our Cartoon President and City on a Hill. i will be watching WWE Stomping Grounds on WWE Network for most of the evening.

i'm not really sure when i will be on here tomorrow. mom has a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. after that, she wants to go to Menards if she is feeling good enough. if all that happens, i will try to write the blog when i get home. i'm smart enough to know there is little chance i will get up early enough to write one before i have to take her to the doctor.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully, your Sunday will be even better.
