so much for a peaceful 2025...

i didn't get to sleep last night until 5 this morning. i did manage to write 3 poems last night. more on that in a bit. i woke up around 9:45 this morning and checked my phone. i believe the first words were what the fuck. being 48 years old, i'm no longer surprised by the violence, or the lack of humanity anymore. what really pisses me off anymore is how this country turns a blind eye to homegrown terrorists. we still operate with this mentality that our enemies are nations, etc. i always thought this was why we could never win in Vietnam. we don't understand guerillas or the lone wolfs that get radicalized. and we still don't. the Sugar Bowl tonight between Georgia and Notre Dame has been postponed to tomorrow night. i'm sure the death total will rise and lord knows how many IEDs they are going to find around the French Quarter. the terrorist in question is 42 years old and an American citizen. from Texas of course. just fucking crazy...

so, on the 3 poems i wrote last night. i need to write about 40 poems that will be for my new book, untitled as of now. John Patrick Robbins from The Rye Whiskey Review wants to publish a book of poems of mine. i have always enjoy working with JPR, so i am definitely going to jump at this opportunity. so, i basically am going to write poems for the book specifically that no one will see until the book is published. i also am going to try to write poems for the places i send to as well. what this actually means is i won't be sleeping for the next 5 months. good times.

i finished the grocery shopping yesterday and got home in time to watch the second half of Dayton vs. LaSalle. Dayton won the game 84-70.

team USA defeated Canada last night, 4-1, to win Group A at the World Juniors. the USA will play Switzerland on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

oh goody, now the FBI believes the terrorist, who was in the US Army by the way at some point, didn't act alone in this. why do i think this is now becoming an old episode of Homeland?

the college football playoff game last night between Penn State and Boise St. was won by Penn State, 31-14.

NXT last night was ok.

Hard Knocks last night was very good.

Texas is leading Arizona St. 17-3 at halftime in their college football playoff game today.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite.

Ohio State tries to get its revenge today against Oregon in the Rose Bowl. winner will play the winner of the Texas vs. Arizona St. game in the semifinals of the college football playoffs.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i know at some point i need to get my driving license renewed before my birthday on the 21st. i also have a doctor's appointment on Friday. joy.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my first published poems of 2025:

i hope everyone had a good New Year's Eve.

i hope 2025 is a great year for all of us. i know that is impossible as so many of us tend to slip through the cracks of this world. i just hope this blog can continue to be a little ray of whatever you need it to be to keep your head above water.

a lesson in patience...

so, i got into Rite Aid around 2 PM yesterday. the prescription i called in for, my test strips, was supposed to be ready at 11:45 AM. as of 2, they weren't. so, the tech told me she was going to get that done for me and asked if i had a problem waiting. i said no and sat down. 2 other people showed up to pick up their prescriptions and they weren't ready either. ah, the start of a holiday weekend. always a clusterfuck. 30 minutes later, my prescription was finally ready. after that, i went to Menards.

now, i decided to go a different way to Menards this time, mostly because of the rain and i know how country roads like to flood. imagine my surprise when part of the way i went up there was on a shitty road because the powers that be decided to do a little paving this holiday weekend. of course, can't really pave in the rain. so, i knew i wasn't going to go back that way home. i finally got to Menards. thankfully, it wasn't raining. i found just about everything i was looking for. and i managed to keep it under $100. as soon as i got the Highlander loaded, it started to rain again. it rained the entire drive home.

when i got home, i noticed the guy that mows our grass decided to mow it in the rain. joy.

the New York Yankees won last night down in that dump in Tampa, 2-0. hopefully, they will win again today.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both pretty good last night.

the New York Rangers play Game 6 tonight at home. i'm really hoping they win to force a Game 7 in this series against Carolina.

the Champions League final is today. Liverpool plays Real Madrid.

once i get the blog done, i need to go outside and get the bird food out there as well as the rest of the solar lights. throw in a shower, vacuuming the floors and a trip to Kroger to get mom's pills, there is pretty much the rest of my day.

i should be on here tomorrow before the Indy 500.

laundry day, take 2...

so, mom decided she was going to do her laundry yesterday. and then, after watching it sit there for hours and hours, i asked her if she wanted my help doing her laundry. she asked why and i said i would like to do my laundry this weekend and i know if i wait on you to finish yours, i'll get to do mine on Thursday or Friday. so, i did her 3 loads last night. and now, as soon as i get this done, i'll do my 3 loads of laundry.

i think it was just hot enough in the house last night, and i had just enough alcohol in me, that given my back pain, i more or less just passed out in my massage chair. i woke up this morning at 5:15. the front door was still open and ESPN was still on. in hindsight, i should have just stayed in the chair. i got 2 lousy hours of sleep in my bed. god i just love having a pinched nerve.

i finally saw The Batman last night. i really enjoyed it. probably my second favorite Batman movie, only behind The Dark Knight. i thought Paul Dano was magnificent as the Riddler. he was so fucking creepy, it was great.

the Yankees won yesterday against Cleveland, 5-4. of course, everyone is talking about the Yankees fans throwing beer and shit at the Cleveland players. i can't defend the Yankees fans that did that. all i will say is the Cleveland player that climbed the fence to confront the Yankees fans in left field was stupid as fuck to do that. i am old enough to know when you dare incite a rabid fan base, you are asking for it. he should be happy this isn't the 70's and 80's or the beer would have been batteries, etc. the Yankees go for the sweep today. hopefully they will get it without any incidents.

the New York Rangers lost to Boston yesterday, 3-1. that probably means they are going to finish second in the division. they will at least have home ice for the first round, most likely against the Penguins.

here are your NBA highlights from the playoffs yesterday:

and of course, CR7 to the rescue...

so, i got home from the grocery store right in time to watch the Manchester United game today. of course, they went down 2-0 in the first half against Atalanta. i was so angry during the first half, i went through the baseball cards i got today instead of watching most of it. paid $5 for the Fairfield box, there was around $12 worth of cards in it. i had lunch and then watched the second half. Rashford scored to make it 2-1. Maguire of all people scored to make it 2-2. and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo scored to win the game for United, 3-2. they are now on top of the group in the Champions League. hopefully, this gives them some good thoughts going into the weekend where they play Liverpool on Sunday.

the grocery stores today were ok. my back has been killing me all day long. i helped take down all the tomato plants last night and get it all out for the trash today. mom helped putting the vines in the trash bag, but i did most of everything else. i'm paying for it today.

The Voice was good last night.

NXT was really good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Masked Singer, Alter Ego, Batwoman and the season finale of American Horror Story: Double Feature.

i did watch some of the basketball games last night.

there always has to be something go wrong...

so i took mom to get her haircut today. i told her to go first, i had no problem waiting to get mine done. and once again, you do something good for someone and it will always bite you in the ass in the end. the lady that was cutting my hair didn't pay close enough attention to what she was doing and ended up slicing my mask. she was super fucking embarrassed and i played it cool. i mean, it was only my favorite New Orleans Saints mask. good thing i'm not superstitious or anything...

of course, it has to be raining...

so, i bit the bullet last night and got ESPN+. i figure since i highly doubt i'll be able to go to any Dayton Flyers games this season, ESPN+ would be my best chance to get to see most of their games, especially the ones not on national television. $49.99 for a year, if i end up using it as much as i think i will, isn't a bad deal.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

the season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

it started raining last night. just enough of a drizzle to make my body ache. joy.

Ohio State plays at home today against Indiana. they have won 25 straight against Indiana. but, this will be the best Indiana team they have played in those 25 meetings. hopefully, Ohio State plays four quarters today.

Manchester United plays today at home against West Brom. hopefully it will be United's first win at home this season.

i'm sure i'll watch a few other college football games today between vacuuming the house and helping mom do some shit.

so, of course, today i had Filipino food...

my sister came down this afternoon and brought with her some Filipino food. i haven't had any of that in a long time. my sister's best friend from college is this amazing woman that is Filipino. so, i used to have it all the time, but that's over 20 years now. so, that was a welcome spice this afternoon. of course, i can't wait to see what my shit looks like after yesterday and today. joy.

the Yankees whipped the Red Sox last night, 10-3. hopefully, they do the same thing tonight.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was very good last night.

Room 104 was pretty funny last night.

the other part of my order from Amazon.com showed up today. i think i know how much more i need to buy to have everything i want to be in individual sleeves. once i get what i have done the last 2 days in order, i'll start posting some pics and prices.

i did go to the grocery store this afternoon and pick up mom's medications and my test strips for my blood sugar. i've lost some weight and i have my blood sugar pretty consistent now. i'd just like to get the number under 115 and closer to 100.

i should be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the Europa League semifinals. in case i'm not, here is a preview:

welcome to the first weekend of Spring...

we got 2 inches of rain last night. it was in the 60's today but very windy. and of course, since it's Ohio, the temps are going to drop 40 fucking degrees by tomorrow. joy.

i did all of the grocery shopping today at the local grocery store. i was able to find most of what was on the list. it's a little more expensive than Kroger's, but at least i was able to find shit like bread, cheese, tissues, etc. i managed to keep it under $100, so i'm happy with that. i explained to mom last night that we might have to spend a bit more on shit during this pandemic. mostly because capitalism is as fucking evil as possible.

NXT UK was really good last night.

Will & Grace was hilarious last night.

Indebted was good last night.

Better Things was great last night.

Cake was awesome last night.

i'm hoping to get some writing done this weekend. i don't think i'm dealing with writer's block or fucking apathy, i just know i haven't had any ideas come to me and light a damn fire here recently. i'm really hoping that changes this weekend.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow.

a bit of snow...

we got maybe an inch of snow last night. the person that delivers the newspaper was kind enough to throw it up near the garage door. i didn't have to put on my boots to go get it this morning. and that also means i should be inside for the rest of the day.

Ohio State got out to a 21-0 lead yesterday against Penn State. and then, it looked like they either took the foot off the neck or simply forgot how to play defense against a running quarterback and hold on to the fucking ball. Penn State scored 17 straight points to make the game very interesting. but, like all good teams do, bend but never break. Ohio State won 28-17. now all focus turns to that shit school up north.

the New York Rangers got down 4-0 last night. after wrestling was over, i went to go check out the score to see how much they lost by. holy fuck, they came back to beat Montreal 6-5. that's the first the Rangers have won a game in the regular season coming back from being 4 goals down since 1991.

Bluegrass Underground was excellent last night.

ROH was good last night.

Lil Rel Howery: Live in Crenshaw was fucking hilarious last night.

i'm saving Us for when my sister gets down here over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

NXT Takeover: War Games was fucking crazy last night. a great heel turn, a come back that all of us have longed for (welcome home Kevin Owens) and one of the craziest off the top of a cage spots i have ever seen. hopefully Survivor Series will be as good tonight.

enjoy some music:

the New Orleans Saints play today at home against Carolina. hopefully the Saints can get to 9-2 with a win today.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i have to get those tests done in the morning and i have to take mom to physical therapy in the afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday is even better.

happy birthday Alex Morgan...

i wanted to make sure i got everything done today so i could be home and watch the USA vs. England in the Women's World Cup semi-finals. i took a shower, made a deposit at the bank and took mom out shopping at the drug store. she wanted McDonald's for lunch for some reason. thankfully, we got back home in time for the game.

the USA defeated England 2-1 today to advance to the Women's World Cup finals. this game had a little bit of everything. goals, injuries, red card, plenty of yellow cards, a bullshit penalty call, a brilliant save on that penalty and then a masterclass on wasting time by the USA. and Alex Morgan became the first woman to score a goal on her birthday in the World Cup. and then, she did a brilliant, savage bit of trolling with her celebration.

Monday Night Raw was so much better last night and i know exactly why... Paul Heyman. i'm really hoping they simply hand him the keys and allow his creativity to fucking flow. you could tell last night how his vision is slowly creeping into the picture, finally.

the season premiere of Divorce last night was pretty good.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, Big Brother and Songland. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Yankees start a quick 2 game series tonight at the Mets. hopefully, they don't have a letdown from the games over in London.

we've had some storms in the area today. my back certainly feels like more is on the way. perfect, i still have the trash to pick up.

i do plan on watching some of the Gold Cup semi-final tonight between Haiti and Mexico.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow after the Sweden vs. Netherlands game at the Women's World Cup.

i'm off to go pick up the trash.
