the storms always come at the wrong time...

it started to storm last night right as the finale of Big Little Lies started. fuck. i scrambled to set the DVR to record the airing later in the night, hoping the storm would be over by then. thankfully, it was.

the finale of Big Little Lies was really good. the way it ended, it certainly left the door open for season 3. and honestly, if Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep or Laura Dern don't win something for this season, it's a crime.

Euphoria was excellent last night.

City on a Hill was really good last night.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. i've caught up on the feeds, so i'm basically a show ahead of what they show on television now. i don't think people are really going to be happy with Cliff by Thursday.

the New York Yankees lost to Colorado yesterday, 8-4. i saw a stat after the game that they haven't won a game this month that James Paxton has started. they are 10-2 when someone else starts. interesting. they start a series tonight at Minnesota. could be a potential playoff preview. hopefully, they will destroy the Twins.

since the Yankees were playing like shit yesterday, i watched most of the Hall of Fame ceremonies.

the Red Scare lost to Carmen's Crew yesterday in The Basketball Tournament, 85-71. they simply just ran out of steam in the second half. hopefully, they will have a team again next season and have more players as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Divorce and Desus & Mero. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

it's been really gloomy here today. at least the humidity is way down from the weekend. hell, might even be able to turn the air off and open some windows soon.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

mom made biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning. i then watched her stubborn ass try to get the biscuits out of the oven with just one hand and proceeded to dump them off the tray and on to the bottom of the oven. i walked over and watched her pick all of them up with tongs. i then said i will make sure in your eulogy to make sure people understand why i am a stubborn asshole. i told her not to complain to me today when her back is killing her when all she had to do was ask for help. this is why i refer to life as a circle. all of us eventually find the end of that circle. not many of us do it with any fucking grace.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i really need to get to Menards soon to get some suet for the birds and everything else that has been put on the list for the last few months.

i think i might have got somewhere near 5 hours of sleep last night. i'm just as shocked as you are.

until tomorrow kids...

the hours just start to bleed together...

i think the air conditioner might have ran all day yesterday. we're not supposed to be as warm today. but, that only means there are thunderstorms coming. joy.

i have been watching a lot of The Basketball Tournament on ESPN the last couple days. the Red Scare team is made up of some former Dayton basketball players. they will play Carmen's Crew later today. that team is made up of former Ohio State basketball players. so, it's going to be a 2014 rematch from the NCAA tournament. should be a good one.

the New York Yankees defeated Colorado yesterday, 11-5. they will go for the sweep this afternoon.

NJPW was excellent last night. i love the G1 tournament.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, the finale of Big Little Lies, Euphoria and City on a Hill.

i do plan on watching most of the Baseball Hall of Fame ceremonies today, mostly because of Mike Mussina and Mariano Rivera are going in.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully, your Sunday will be even better.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'd actually like to get more than 3 hours of sleep at a time at some point in my life.

don't you just hate this...

as a poet, i have a tendency to have little lines pop into my head at all fucking hours of the day. i have prided myself in remembering these lines for hours on end before i get the chance to write them down. but, as i have grown older, i have grown more likely to write them down when they come to me. unless of course, it's at 6 AM and i haven't got to sleep yet. that's exactly when this killer line came to me this morning. i said fuck it, and went to sleep, hoping i would remember it. thankfully, i did, and i just finished that poem about 30 minutes ago.

i enjoyed WWE Extreme Rules right up until Brock Lesnar's music hit. the last thing i wanted to see was him becoming Universal Champion once again. of course, Vince hasn't agreed with me on his product for over 30 years now. with any luck, he'll lose the fucking title tonight on Monday Night Raw. i know there's likely no fucking chance of that happening, but a guy can dream.

the season finale of Our Cartoon President was crazy last night.

Big Brother was pretty good last night.

Big Little Lies was really good last night. i'm hoping the finale next week has some fireworks.

Euphoria was excellent last night. their season finale is next week as well.

City on a Hill was great last night.

the New York Yankees won yesterday over Toronto, 4-2. they start a series tonight at home against Tampa Bay. this would be a good time to sweep them and really extend the lead in the AL East.

enjoy some music:

4 hours of sleep, rinse and repeat...

i don't think i'm doing too bad for someone who got to bed a little after 6 this morning. i get the feeling today is going to see plenty of naps.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday to Toronto, 2-1. the offense never really got going until the bottom of the 9th. the Yankees haven't been shutout in 172 games now. and the more i have to see shitty umpires, the more i am in favor of having the robots do the job.

now, on to the wrestling.

i thought AEW Fight for the Fallen was pretty good last night. there was a few technical problems during the broadcast and i thought some of the matches went way too long. other than that, it was pretty good.

NJPW was excellent last night. they showed night 2 of the G1 Climax.

ROH was good last night.

Evolve's 10th anniversary was the show of the night for me. the matches were better and i thought the little surprises Evolve and WWE came up with were excellent.

enjoy some music:

well, it started off good...

the USWNT game against the Netherlands yesterday in the Women's World Cup final started off like i thought it would. the first half was pretty even and finished at 0-0. i wasn't surprised when the USA started off on the front foot in the second half and slowly imposed their will. that is what great teams do. i knew that the penalty given to the Netherlands was supposed to be a penalty before VAR told the official it was. when Rapinoe scored, i had a good feeling that was all they were going to need. when Rose Lavelle scored to make it 2-0, i knew it was all over then. i'm so happy for the women on this team. now, hopefully they win their case against U.S. Soccer and actually get equal pay.

the game finished right as the New York Yankees were starting yesterday. the Yankees lost 2-1. i didn't want them to enter the All-Star break on a losing streak, but they are still first in the division by 6 1/2 games. they start the second half with a nice long homestand, so hopefully they will get off to a great start on the road to the playoffs.

then, last night i watched the USMNT against Mexico in the final of the Gold Cup. i loved how the USA started, but of course, they weren't clinical in the final third and pissed chance after chance away. they should have been up 3-0 at halftime. it was 0-0. Mexico made the adjustments that a good coach does and surely enough, they dominated the USA in the second half. when Mexico scored to make it 1-0, i knew there was little chance the USA would come back. it doesn't help when your coach makes some of the dumbest fucking substitutions i have seen in a long time. i'm all for taking off a defender when trailing in a final. but, why the fuck do you replace him with another defender? holy fuck, i would fire him today for that alone.

that loss kept me up until 5 this morning. i must have replayed the game in my head 5 to 10 fucking times. i sadly have the feeling that the best player this country has ever produced (Christian Pulisic) is going to be wasted in yet another generation of USMNT that doesn't win shit.

Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

City on a Hill was really good last night.

Big Brother was good last night.

Big Little Lies was excellent last night.

Euphoria was great last night.

i did do a little poetry work earlier today. i know where the next 26 poems will be going in my next round of poetry submissions.

one of my favorite local bands released their new album over the weekend. i highly recommend it.

could be one of the biggest days in the history of this country...

Sunday has finally arrived. this could end up being the biggest day in the history of U.S. Soccer. now, while i agree with it's so fucking stupid for FIFA to have scheduled 2 other finals on the same day as the Women's World Cup Final, it is what it is.

the USWNT takes on the Netherlands in the final of the Women's World Cup. i'm not cocky enough to think the USA is going to run away with this one. it should be a really tight game. that being said, i would love to see the women win easily.

the USMNT takes on Mexico this evening in the final of the Gold Cup. the men have closed the gap between the countries in this tournament a little, but i still think Mexico is the favorite. i would love to see the USA pull of the double today.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday to Tampa, 4-3. oh well. hopefully the Yankees win this afternoon to win the series. today is the final game before the All-Star break.

a storm hit right as the G1 Climax was starting last night, so i missed a little of the show. the matches were pretty good. the best match of the night for me was Kenta vs. Kota Ibushi. it was so good to see Kenta free from the shackles of the WWE.

the former muse told me that Bohemian Rhapsody was really good. i watched it last night and was very happy. Queen was always one of those bands that i loved growing up. i now see why all the interest in their music once again. and i can definitely see why Rami Malek won the Oscar.

happy Canada Day...

or how i like to call July 1st, happy free agency day. and thankfully, as a New York Rangers fan, i can actually be happy today. the Rangers signed the guy i desperately wanted them to sign, Artemi Panarin. that should be the jolt the offense really needs. and if their #1 pick this year is as good as i think he is, i fully expect the Rangers to make the playoffs this coming season. not bad for deciding to rebuild the team 1 1/2 years ago.

i was pleasantly pleased with what the Sacramento Kings did in free agency. they added some sensible depth to a young club that should be looking to take a leap forward next season.

at the Gold Cup last night, Jamaica defeated Panama 1-0 and the USA survived a listless performance and defeated Curacao 1-0.

so the semi-finals of the Gold Cup will be Haiti vs. Mexico on Tuesday and USA vs. Jamaica on Wednesday.

Sermon on the Mount was really good last night.

Big Brother was pretty good last night.

Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

City on a Hill was really good last night.

Big Little Lies was short again last night but excellent.

Euphoria was great last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always.

better late than never

i stayed up late last night, wanting to make sure my sister's flight to Europe actually landed. it was delayed a couple hours and with the crazy ass weather... so, i didn't get to bed until sometime after 4.

when i woke up, the New York Yankees were in the process of going down 4-0 to Boston in London. they would be trailing until the 7th inning, when the Yankees exploded for 9 runs. DiDi extended the home run streak to 31 in the 8th inning. of course, the Yankees bullpen tried to make interesting... eventually, the Yankees won today 12-8. the Red Sox are now 11 games behind in the AL East. i won't count them out completely, but i will say they have little to no chance of winning the division now. the Yankees are off tomorrow and start a series at the Mets on Tuesday.

the Gold Cup was fucking crazy last night. Canada blew a 2 goal lead and lost to Haiti, 3-2. Mexico and Costa Rica went to penalty kicks and like always, Mexico ousted Costa Rica from the Gold Cup.

tonight, Jamaica takes on Panama and the USA plays Curacao.

Ramy Youssef: Feelings was fucking hilarious last night.

ROH was pretty good last night.

AEW Fyter Fest was good last night, up until the final 3 matches. those matches were fucking great.

not how i thought i would wake up this morning...

so i got to bed around 5 in the morning. i figured i would get a good 4 or 5 hours of sleep, shower, eat and take mom to her doctor's appointment. roughly, 4 1/2 hours into my sleep, that all changed. mom came into my room and told me she was getting ready to shower and she had already fallen once this morning. those words were like a record suddenly coming to a stop and you could hear the scratch a few thousand miles away. i got up and asked her, while still asleep mostly, if she was okay. i don't think i still have processed the whole thing quite yet. of course, she did her usual job of making me feel guilty because i didn't hear her calling for me when she fell. and like the asshole i am, i've been beating myself up for it. i tend to sleep with music playing and my fan on, mostly because it tends to calm me into at least a good nap. so, i guess that ends now. great.

her doctor's appointment was pretty easy. we were able to get back home before the rain started. this whole afternoon has been a dance party for arthritis. i'm really hoping mom doesn't feel any pain. if she does, we get to get some x-rays in the next few days. joy.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday to Houston, 9-4. oh well, they did homer again so they set the club record for consecutive games with a home run. they start a series with Toronto tonight.

i didn't get to watch the USWNT team this afternoon. by the time we got home, the game with Spain was over. thankfully, the USA won 2-1. they will now advance to play France. oh joy. in the other Women's World Cup scores, France defeated Brazil 2-1 and Sweden beat Canada 1-0.

here are your scores from the Gold Cup:
Canada defeated Cuba 7-0 and Mexico beat Martinique 3-2. tonight, Bermuda plays Nicaragua and Haiti takes on Costa Rica.

WWE Stomping Grounds was much better than i thought it was going to be last night.

Axios was very good last night.

Big Little Lies was short but fucking great last night.

Euphoria was excellent last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

i'm sure the birds are happy...

somehow, the rain that was supposed to come yesterday never did. that gave me the chance to finally get outside and feed the birds. i had to throw away the one feeder the squirrels destroyed trying to get to the sunflower seeds. and then there were some solar lights that the weather had ruined that needed to go in the trash. i did fill up all the good feeders with some seed and put out the hummingbird feeder as mom said she has seen a couple near the house the last few days. when i got up this morning, there was at least 1 bird on every feeder, so i'm guessing they are happy.

the New York Yankees won last night over the Astros, 7-5. they will go for the sweep this afternoon. i did catch a little of the Old Timer's Day festivities this morning. it was a blast to see Mariano Rivera hit an inside the park home run during the game. he could probably still play if he wanted to.

i was pleased with what the New York Rangers did in the NHL Draft yesterday. i was a little surprised they didn't make any trades. this is going to be a very interesting off-season in the NHL.

the USMNT destroyed Trinidad & Tobago last night, 6-0. that was a pleasant sight to see.

in the other Gold Cup game last night, Panama defeated Guyana 4-2. tonight, Canada plays Cuba and Mexico takes on Martinique.

in the Women's World Cup, yesterday Germany defeated Nigeria 3-0. Norway ousted Australia in a crazy game. the game finished 1-1 and then Norway won on penalty kicks, 4-1. this morning England defeated Cameroon, 3-0. later today, France takes on Brazil.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i wrote 2 poems last night. i typed those up this morning. i really like them. i'm really hoping i find the time this coming week to get another round of submissions out.

not exactly how i want to wake up in the morning...

i couldn't find a spot for my back last night to calm down until almost 5 in the morning. sometime around 9, i heard a lawnmower outside of my window. sure enough, the guy who cuts our grass was out there mowing. i knew there was no way i could get some more sleep, as i needed to get going since mom had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. i would have loved to get more than 4 hours of sleep, but people in hell want ice water as well.

i got mom to her appointment on time. her A1C was good and everything looks to be well with all her shit. after that was over, she wanted to go to Long John Silver's. the one closest to us closed about a year ago, so this the only one even remotely close to us now. i didn't get much as it was one of those combo Long John Silver's/KFC restaurants. after that was over, i decided to drive back through the town i grew up in. i went back into the neighborhood i grew up in and holy shit, it was hit bad by that Memorial Day tornado. the house i grew up in looks like it had damage on all 4 sides of it and the roof. the tree i thought about killing myself on when i was 8 got destroyed. the other side of the street looked even worse. it looked like every apartment building in the apartments next to where i grew up got damaged. this was the first time i had been back in the neighborhood in probably 20 years. as much as things looked the same (minus the damage of course) the more i knew it will never recover. i'm really hoping i am wrong about that, but i doubt i will be.

the New York Yankees won yesterday, 10-3, to split their series with the White Sox. they start a series tonight at home against Tampa. first place will be on the line.

Axios was excellent yesterday.

Big Little Lies was great last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

the season finale of The Chi had some truly holy shit moments. i'm really interested to see where this goes for season 3.

Our Cartoon President was fucking hilarious last night.

City on a Hill was really good last night. i think i'm really going to enjoy this series.

Euphoria was excellent last night. i got a good laugh from people thinking it's controversial. these are probably the same people that believe their teenagers are angels and don't do drugs or look at porn or do plenty of crazy shit. i can't say i had many high school parties like the one on the show, but i had a couple that were crazy as fuck and that was in the 90's. and i truly believe the drugs are way better today than back then.

in the Gold Cup yesterday, Haiti beat Bermuda, 2-1 and Costa Rica defeated Nicaragua 4-0. tonight El Salvador takes on Curacao and Honduras takes on Jamaica.

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime after mom gets her injection for her back. she is really looking forward to this as her back has been killing her the past few days.

i know once she gets that done she wants me to take her to Burger King so she can get her favorite frozen drink. joy.

happy birthday to my mother...

my mother slept in this morning, so she really didn't want much for breakfast. that made things pretty easy for me this morning. i was hoping we'd have really good weather today so maybe she would want to go out for lunch or something. of course, we're supposed to have some strong storms move through in a couple hours. joy. so this will be the house of arthritis really soon.

the New York Yankees won last night, 8-4. hopefully, they will get the series split this afternoon. the Yankees did make a trade last night, getting Edwin Encarnacion from Seattle. he's going to be the primary DH when he shows up tomorrow. apparently, the Yankees can't get any pitching, so they will just try to pummel everyone to death.

i did watch plenty of the Gold Cup last night. Canada won 4-0 and Mexico won 7-0. that should be interesting when they play each other this coming week.

congrats to Ukraine for winning the U-20 World Cup.

Canada won in the Women's World Cup yesterday, 2-0. Sweden defeated Thailand this morning 5-1. the USA beat Chile 3-0. Sweden will play the USA in a few days to see who wins the group.

ROH was really good last night.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Father's Day is even better.

and as i told the last person that asked me about Father's Day... i'll go dig the fucker up and ask him about it.
