i wish this day was spent like the title of this blog post, but it isn't. for too many people in this country, it is just another day off, that is all. just imagine how much better we could be as people if we actually understood why this holiday matters.
i did watch both NFL playoff games yesterday. the Packers whipped the Cowboys, 48-32. the Lions won their game last night over the Rams, 24-23. today, the Bills are at home against the Steelers and the Eagles play at Tampa Bay.
here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:
the season finale of The Curse was fucking insane last night.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan was really good last night.
True Detective Night Country was excellent last night.
Manchester United and Tottenham finished 2-2 yesterday.
the New York Rangers won yesterday at home against Washington, 2-1.
i wrote 2 poems last night before i went to sleep. i think they are pretty good.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after i get back from the bank.
it actually made it up to double digits today for the high temperature. it is so cold in our garage, i'm not sure the refrigerator actually needs to be running.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:
so, i remember first hearing this when i was a child and really into current events and whatnot. always around 5 PM on a Friday, you would get some shocking or holy shit news, but it would come too late for the nightly news to really talk about it and then it was the weekend and by Monday, no one gives a shit. so, the bad news would always get planted on this day. this all makes me laugh considering the news that hit today, Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. i never thought i would see this day in my lifetime. it really makes me wonder what other news is going to come out about his past. or, was this retirement forced by the board of directors. or, better yet, is this Vince trying to cut off the allegations because now everything is in a past tense. all in all, i'm hoping that the actual product gets better. if it doesn't, then i really could see the company being sold and pro wrestling entering a whole new world in a few years. should make for an interesting Smackdown tonight.
so, the Yankees got swept yesterday in Houston. they lost game 1, 3-2. they lost game 2, 7-5. as much as i don't want to put any stock into this, it would be nice if we could beat Houston more than just twice a fucking year. the Yankees start a series tonight in Baltimore. hopefully, they will win.
the season finale of The Old Man was excellent last night. i can't fucking wait for season 2.
NXT UK was very good last night.
Vice News Tonight had two great shows this week.
episode 2 of The Captain was very good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown and AEW Rampage. i'll watch NXT Level Up sometime tonight on Peacock.
i did go to Rite Aid today to get my prescription. i had to get some things for mom there as well.
the drive to mom's bank yesterday was pretty uneventful. i had to get money out of the ATM for her. after that, i went to the Rite Aid across the street from the bank. i got some baseball cards while i was there. 2 boxes for $11. i think i almost made what i spent on them from the cards in the boxes. a good number of hall of fame cards, but nothing crazy.
i think i will be on here in the morning tomorrow. i did get a good amount of sleep today. the ice on my back seems to be working. hopefully, i'll be able to sleep in my bed soon.
i hope everyone has an amazing weekend.
until tomorrow kids...

Mobley - stay volk
ZZ Top - Brown Sugar
"At the typewriter you find out who you are." - Tom Robbins
and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
to the news of Anne Rice's death. i can't say i was a huge fan of Anne Rice, but i do know she was an incredible writer. what i was a fan of was how she talked about New Orleans. she always spoke of the magic and darkness of the town and how it was perfect for a writer. hell, i still believe i will live and probably die in that town at some point in my life. goodbye to a legend. thank you for the incredible ride. enjoy whatever comes next.
Manchester United won yesterday over Norwich, 1-0. i do love a clean sheet. that being said, man i would love if someone other than CR7 could be clinical in front of the goal these days.
i did watch a little of the Army vs. Navy game yesterday.
the MLS Cup was amazing yesterday. Portland forced extra time right at the death of regulation. NYCFC won the Cup in a penalty shootout.
The Real Charlie Chaplin was an amazing documentary last night. i do recommend it.
Saturday Night Live was great last night. Billie Eilish has certainly grown on me over the years. she is truly one of the more unique young humans around.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Axios, the season finale of Succession, Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Power Book II: Ghost, Hightown, VICE, Dexter: New Blood, Yellowjackets and Desus & Mero.
the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Nashville.
the Dayton Flyers play at home today against Virginia Tech. Dayton is a 2 point underdog today. i always do love a good home underdog.
the New Orleans Saints play today at the New York Jets. part of the reason why i am going to the basketball game is so i don't say something to my mother about her Jets. of course, if the Saints lose this game, i will be apoplectic.
i should be on here tomorrow after i get back from taking mom to her physical therapy appointment.
i hope everyone had a good Saturday. hope your Sunday will be even better.

- Anne Rice (October 4, 1941 - December 11, 2021)
and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
so, Drew Brees announced his retirement from the New Orleans Saints yesterday, 15 years to the day he signed with the team. he is easily the best quarterback in team history and in my opinion, one of the greatest of all-time.
i had to go out and do some things today. mom needed a few things and to have some pills picked up. i needed to go to the bank and make a deposit. and of course, it was raining the whole fucking time.
Manchester United won yesterday over West Ham 1-0. it should have been a much bigger score, but i guess the own goal from West Ham will have to do.
the finale of Allen v. Farrow was good last night.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.
Batwoman was really good last night.
Shameless was hilarious last night.
Desus & Mero was fucking great last night.
Vice was excellent last night.
The Luminaries was a bit of a mind fuck last night.
so, i did watch the Grammys last night. amazingly, i think i knew most of the songs that won.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Monday Night Raw, The Voice and Beartown.
i did listen to episode 334 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:
so, much to my amazement, the Dayton Flyers made the NIT field last night. of course, once i saw the number of teams that declined, i quickly realized why Dayton was included. the school still thinks the NIT means something. sadly, most of the fan base does as well. they play Memphis on March 20th i believe.
as for the NCAA tournament, i think Gonzaga has the easiest route to the Final 4.
Dayton's old coach got fired from Indiana today. i'm a little surprised that Archie didn't do better there.
the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Philadelphia. hopefully, the boys find way to win tonight.
the Yankees won yesterday over the Blue Jays, 5-1. they defeated the Phillies today, 4-2.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.
i guess i did put out the grass seed at the right time today. now, if it actually does warm up the next few days, it might actually work.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i suppose if i would have grew up in a loving household, or if i was married to the woman of my dreams or in any kind of relationship at all, Valentine's Day would have a completely different meaning to me. but that's not the case.
the New York Rangers won last night in Minnesota, 4-3 in a shootout. they play tonight at Columbus.
on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Real Time with Bill Maher, High Maintenance and U2: Experience - Live in Berlin. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.
i went to 4 stores today to get all the shopping done. it was like since the sun was out, everyone was fucking out. it didn't matter that it was fucking freezing. i think it's supposed to get down to the single digits again tonight. joy.
i'm hoping to be on here tomorrow before the Dayton Flyers play at UMass.
i hope everyone has a great weekend.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
so add my left knee to my current aches and pains. it locked up while i was walking in the parking lot last night after the basketball game and has been barking ever since. joy.
Manchester United played a toothless 0-0 draw yesterday at home against Wolves. fuck me, this team is so fucking frustrating to watch anymore.
the Dayton Flyers defeated Fordham yesterday, 70-56. 20 wins by the first of February. that's only the second time EVER Dayton has done that.
the New York Rangers won in Detroit last night, 1-0. it was The King's first shutout since 2017.
Saturday Night Live was better than i expected it to be last night.
Austin City Limits was excellent last night.
ROH was pretty good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i was getting the poems together this morning when i heard the news about the latest school shooting. as someone who doesn't own a gun, i'm for as much gun control as possible. but i always imagine what if we gave two shits about mental health and actually took care of people before they got to the damn stage where they wanted a gun to do harm. now, the optimist buried deep within me believes it would help at the very least. the cynic that runs my damn life already knows nothing is going to fucking change and it never fucking will. and people wonder why i want to live somewhere else...
i sent out 33 poems today. 3 each to The Beatnik Cowboy and The Blake-Jones Review; 5 each to Live Nude Poems, Ink Pantry and The Scum Gentry; 6 each to The Stray Branch and Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.
the season finale of American Horror Story was okay last night. i was hoping for a bit more violence.
NXT was excellent last night.
AEW was excellent last night as well.
Cake was really good last night.
The Masked Singer was good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Young Sheldon, The Unicorn, Perfect Harmony, Will & Grace, Mr Inbetween and Desus & Mero. i watched NXT UK earlier this afternoon, it was excellent.
the New York Rangers play down in Tampa tonight. i'd love to see the Rangers continue their good play and get a win on the road.
i might watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Browns and Steelers.
mom has an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow morning. i'm hoping they can figure out what the fuck is going on with her eyes. i will probably do the grocery shopping after that is over. so, i should be on here in the afternoon tomorrow.
it warmed up a bit here today, so most of the snow is gone.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
as a poet, i have a tendency to have little lines pop into my head at all fucking hours of the day. i have prided myself in remembering these lines for hours on end before i get the chance to write them down. but, as i have grown older, i have grown more likely to write them down when they come to me. unless of course, it's at 6 AM and i haven't got to sleep yet. that's exactly when this killer line came to me this morning. i said fuck it, and went to sleep, hoping i would remember it. thankfully, i did, and i just finished that poem about 30 minutes ago.
i enjoyed WWE Extreme Rules right up until Brock Lesnar's music hit. the last thing i wanted to see was him becoming Universal Champion once again. of course, Vince hasn't agreed with me on his product for over 30 years now. with any luck, he'll lose the fucking title tonight on Monday Night Raw. i know there's likely no fucking chance of that happening, but a guy can dream.
the season finale of Our Cartoon President was crazy last night.
Big Brother was pretty good last night.
Big Little Lies was really good last night. i'm hoping the finale next week has some fireworks.
Euphoria was excellent last night. their season finale is next week as well.
City on a Hill was great last night.
the New York Yankees won yesterday over Toronto, 4-2. they start a series tonight at home against Tampa Bay. this would be a good time to sweep them and really extend the lead in the AL East.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Divorce and Desus & Mero. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank, Office Depot and to pick up mom's prescriptions.

my sister came down to the house today. she was going to a book signing close to here and came back to the house after she was done. mom talked to her about the new BBQ place in town and about going there for lunch. i told mom i wasn't going because i had the blog to write. her and my sister haven't been out without me tagging along in quite some time. plus, this gives me the chance to actually be in the house by myself for a change. not that anything crazy is going to happen. just nice to be able to scream if you need to and not be rude about it.
NXT Takeover:New York last night was fucking great. every match was at worst good. the main event between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano did not disappoint. and by the time the show was over, i was in tears. the storytelling done between Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa has been fucking amazing these last few years. and to see them embrace at the end of show was the cherry on top.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
the 3 episodes of NJPW were really good last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty good last night.
Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas was great last night.
the New York Rangers lost in a shootout last night to Columbus, 3-2. thankfully, the Rangers season ends tonight in Pittsburgh.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH. i'll be watching WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies on WWE Network for a good portion of the evening.
the New York Yankees play tonight at Baltimore. it would be nice to see them actually win two games in a row at some point this season.
the Final 4 is also tonight. first up will be Auburn vs. Virginia and then it will be Texas Tech vs. Michigan State. i'll probably catch at least some of both games.
here are your videos for this day of National Poetry Month.
i'm sure at some point tonight, my sister and i will shoot the shit over some alcohol and probably some murder mystery show she's obsessed with.
i will be on here tomorrow in the morning, mostly because WrestleMania is going to take up most of my Sunday.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.
