thank you Drew Brees...

so, Drew Brees announced his retirement from the New Orleans Saints yesterday, 15 years to the day he signed with the team. he is easily the best quarterback in team history and in my opinion, one of the greatest of all-time.

i had to go out and do some things today. mom needed a few things and to have some pills picked up. i needed to go to the bank and make a deposit. and of course, it was raining the whole fucking time.

Manchester United won yesterday over West Ham 1-0. it should have been a much bigger score, but i guess the own goal from West Ham will have to do.

the finale of Allen v. Farrow was good last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

Batwoman was really good last night.

Shameless was hilarious last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking great last night.

Vice was excellent last night.

The Luminaries was a bit of a mind fuck last night.

so, i did watch the Grammys last night. amazingly, i think i knew most of the songs that won.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Monday Night Raw, The Voice and Beartown.

i did listen to episode 334 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:

so, much to my amazement, the Dayton Flyers made the NIT field last night. of course, once i saw the number of teams that declined, i quickly realized why Dayton was included. the school still thinks the NIT means something. sadly, most of the fan base does as well. they play Memphis on March 20th i believe.

as for the NCAA tournament, i think Gonzaga has the easiest route to the Final 4.

Dayton's old coach got fired from Indiana today. i'm a little surprised that Archie didn't do better there.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Philadelphia. hopefully, the boys find way to win tonight.

the Yankees won yesterday over the Blue Jays, 5-1. they defeated the Phillies today, 4-2.

i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i guess i did put out the grass seed at the right time today. now, if it actually does warm up the next few days, it might actually work.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

until tomorrow kids...

not exactly the day i want to be sick on...

but given that the second coming of the plague has most everything closed and people stuck inside...

i did have to go out today and get some shit. i needed some Sudafed and of course the pharmacy at Kroger was all out of the strong shit. figures. i got most of everything mom had on the grocery list. and i kept it under $100.

i did send out 11 poems today; 6 to Record Magazine and 5 to Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from those places i will pass along the verdicts.

i guess i should say thank you to Tom Brady for breaking the internet this morning.

the New Orleans Saints did get Drew Brees signed today. hopefully in these next 2 years a Super Bowl win will be coming to Bourbon Street.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Voice last night was good.

The Plot Against America was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight.

i did record Black Panther last night, so i might end up watching that tonight.

i need to get the trash picked up, so that's all for me kids.

i'm draining snot like there's no tomorrow, so i'm coughing like i started smoking 2 cartons a day again.

good times.

i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

have a good one. stay healthy.

happiness is a clean sheet on the road...

Manchester United defeated Chelsea yesterday 2-0. Ole absolutely owns Frank Lampard. United got pretty lucky yesterday with VAR, but i'll gladly take it. now, they are much closer to the top 4 and certainly have given themselves a chance to have a decent season after all.

mom wanted Pizza Hut for lunch yesterday. she likes their wings. i don't mind the pizza.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The New Pope was excellent last night.

McMillion$ was very good last night.

Desus & Mero showed their interview with David Letterman in its entirety last night. BRILLIANT!

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be We Are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest and WWE Backstage.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at VCU. Dayton is up to #5 in the polls now, so the target on them is as big as ever. hopefully the boys can get out of there with a victory tonight.

Drew Brees announced he's coming back to the New Orleans Saints next season. that should start the dominoes to fall in NFL QB free agency.

i did go to the bank today to make a deposit. the Office Depot near the bank is closing. everything in the store is 50% off. so, i know where i will be going tomorrow most likely. depending on the weather of course.

i finally got to see most of The Last Jedi last night. i probably need to watch it again before i really give my thoughts on it. i was trying to watch it at 3 in the morning as my body was starting to collapse from exhaustion.

until tomorrow kids, i still have trash to pick up...

trying to squeeze 24 hours into 5, such fun...

i feel like the little saying my mother used to always say when i was a child... i'm busier than 9 cats covering up shit in a windstorm. i'm literally doing 3 things at once, hoping i'll get everything done so i can go to the basketball game tonight.

i just put my last load of laundry in the dryer.

i took mom to get her injection today. the roads were much better than i thought they would be. we got more ice than snow last night. she's been feeling a little weird since she got her injection, so i have to be sure she's alright before i even think about going to the game tonight.

Monday Night Raw had some good moments last night.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Nashville, 5-2. if one shitty call by the officials gets called correctly, the outcome would have been different.

The Voice last night was excellent. i have no damn clue who is going to win tonight.

Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements was great last night. a very interesting documentary that is worth your time.

the New Orleans Saints whipped the Colts last night, 34-7. Drew Brees set the NFL record for career touchdown passes and completed 29 of 30 passes last night, setting the record for completion percentage in a game. with a little help, they can still win the #1 seed in the NFC.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of The Voice and WWE Backstage.

the Dayton Flyers, now ranked #13 in the country, their highest ranking since 1967, play North Texas at home tonight. i'm not sure if i'm going or not. if i don't, i will listen on the radio.

i will be on here tomorrow before mom has her physical therapy session. i'm hoping to also get to the bank in the morning.

that's all for me kids. i still have trash to pick up.

a white hot rage...

i pride myself on not being late for shit. so, when i showed up for my physical therapy session yesterday 25 minutes early, i figured it was a good thing. let's just say, my life would have been better if i would have been only 10 minutes early. so, i had all my paperwork already filled out. i had my driver's license and my insurance card all ready to go. and i had my credit card ready to pay the $60 for the session. there was this woman at the other window making an appointment. i paid no attention to her. i got my receipts and sat down in the waiting room. the woman that was at the other window started to walk out and then stopped and looked at me and said i thought was your car. how is the landscaping coming along? they really took all of that down. good luck, good seeing you... you know i try my fucking best to be positive and do the right thing. i really, really want to enjoy life. but there are moments constantly that will remind me, i don't get to live that life. that woman that was talking to me was the woman who molested me as a child. i'm not sure any of you can imagine just how fucking pissed i was while sitting there stewing in my hate for the next 25 fucking minutes before my appointment. i tried deep breaths, i tried counting to a million, i tried to picture the perfect way to die... nothing calmed me down. i'm not sure if any of the physical therapists picked up on it or not. by the time i went back for my appointment, i really didn't fucking care. the physical therapist i saw was pretty good. he believes it's a muscle problem in my back. the way i explained it to him and the way he told me what he thought, i tend to believe his diagnosis. basically i have a back muscle that contracted and never bothered to expand back out. so, he worked on my back for about 20 minutes or so. and then he ran electricity through it for 15 minutes. he did show me a couple stretches to do that should help my middle back. so far, they have. i see him again next Monday. hopefully, i won't be as fucking pissed as i was yesterday. on the ride home, it seemed like every fucking song was something that reminded me of some fucking situation in my life. the temptation to get the Highlander up to 100 and see how quickly death would arrive was so fucking tempting. i figure one of these nights i'm going to have to write and just pour it all out again on the page. that's part of the reason why i fear writer's block. if that ever cripples me, i don't have much choice with what will come next.

i woke up this morning and my back was sore, but it was more like the good sore. after i get this done, i'm going to have a nice long icing session, that's for sure.

the New York Yankees were absolutely fucking awful last night, from the manager down to the fucking players. they lost to Boston 16-1. and honestly, it didn't feel like it was that close. thank fucking god the Saints were on so i could watch something else. the Yankees are playing for their season tonight, so it should be interesting to see what happens. if they lose, i know one thing for sure, my face is going to look completely different.

the New Orleans Saints defeated Washington last night, 43-19. Drew Brees set the record for the most passing yards in NFL history. the Saints have a bye week coming this week. with the injuries they had last night, it's good timing. Drew now has 399 touchdown passes. they tried so damn hard for him to get to 400 last night. oh well, it will happen in the next game.

Monday Night Raw was really good last night.

The Voice was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Jim Jefferies Show, Mayans M.C., The Voice and the season finale of Mr Inbetween.

the landscaping is going pretty good. i really like the stone mom picked out for this project. i think it's going to look really good when they get done.

i can't believe how fucking hot it is for the 9th day of October. i guess we really are down to two seasons anymore, hot and cold.

i need to go ice my back down and then do the trash here and next door.

that's all for me kids.

and just when i thought this day was going to be nothing but rain

i got up this morning and it was pouring outside. raining cats and dogs as they say. for a second, i thought it was going to get biblical. it's been like that nearly all day. it will pour for 45 minutes or so and then quit. and then start back up 20 minutes later and rain for 90 minutes. we have to be around a couple of inches so far. i've got done a decent job of keeping my adrenaline up for most of the day so i don't even think about how much pain i should be in. but if this shit keeps up, agony will hunt me down this evening.

i was up in time to watch team USA take on Sweden this morning in the World Juniors hockey tournament over in Finland. the boys had all the fucking chances in the world, but when you go 0 for 8 on the power play and can't get any of your 46 shots past the goalie, you're not going to win. the USA lost 1-0. they next play on Wednesday against Switzerland.

that was over in time for me to get my mind ready for Manchester United vs. Chelsea. United hit the post twice in the first half. they missed two glorious chances in the second half. they clearly played better today, but that's 8 fucking games in a row without a win. something has to change.

and just when i thought my day was going to be shit, the New York Yankees came to my rescue. i can't believe they traded for Aroldis Chapman from the Reds. that will give the Yankees one of the nastiest bullpens to ever grace the planet earth. and the best thing is they gave up next to nothing to get him. they kept all their top prospects. thank you for the belated Christmas gift Brian Cashman.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i got pretty much what i wanted out of the New Orleans Saints game yesterday. the Saints won 38-27. Blake Bortles threw 4 touchdowns, which helped me greatly in fantasy football. plus, i do believe it might end up being the last time Drew Brees plays as a Saint at home. so it was nice to see him go out and play like the old Drew Brees.

speaking of fantasy football, while nothing is official yet, i'm pretty damn sure i won both of my championship matches. that will end up being my 7th and 8th championships for fantasy football. i have a 27 point lead in my 5th place game going into tonight in my NFL.com league. my opponent has Denver's quarterback tonight.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Nashville. they are hopefully well rested and ready to go tonight.

i'm interested to see what happens on Monday Night Raw tonight as John Cena makes his return to the show. hopefully he gets his ass kicked again.

as you might imagine, my remote control will be getting a workout tonight flipping between hockey, wrestling and football.

i guess my uncle is back home now. they had to rush him to the hospital yesterday as he was not keeping anything down. they sent back to the nursing home last night once they got all that calmed down. it's all due to him not drinking enough fluids and since he doesn't do that, the side effects to the chemo is even greater. i think the nursing home released him just so they wouldn't have to deal with the family anymore. that being said, i won't be shocked if the phone rings sometime before 6 in the morning in the next few days with some bad news from next door.

i think i'm going to try to stretch out some and ice my back down. this rain just murders me anymore.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. hard to believe that 2015 is almost done.

sunshine and soon to be melting ice

i actually got some sleep last night. and it wasn't from drinking myself to sleep. i do have a victory beer waiting for me. i decided not to drink it last night. i would like to actually enjoy it.

i was drained after the basketball game last night. it wasn't the game that did it to me, it was more the pain in my left arm. it's this persistent fucking annoying pain that won't go away. i can take pills, i can rub on ointments, and i can still feel the fucker. now, it gets to the tricky part of all this. with my birthday coming up, with the NHL All-Star game coming up, more basketball games, etc., i want to just ride this pain until next month and then maybe i'll give up and see a doctor. but, as i sit here and struggle to type this up, i do know this is going to test all the pain tolerance i have. good times.

as for the basketball game last night, Dayton struggled again in the first half, trailing at halftime by 2. whatever their coach said at halftime truly worked. they beat LaSalle at every aspect of the game, rebounding, defense, fast break points, etc. it was a pleasure to see. Dayton's point guard erupted in the second half and scored all 16 of his points in the final 20 minutes. i'm hoping the injury scare last night with Dayton's lone senior is nothing major. they can't stand to lose anymore players. Dayton won 61-50. they next play St. Louis at home on Saturday.

we made it back home in time to catch American Horror Story and Lucha Underground.

American Horror Story was excellent. the show had a few more deaths and a few more twists and turns as well. i really have enjoyed what Neil Patrick Harris has brought to the show. i can't wait for next week's episode.

Lucha Underground was excellent as well. i really enjoyed all the matches. i'm hoping this promotion really starts to catch on with other wrestling fans.

speaking of wrestling, i listened to the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast with Jim Ross this morning. i highly recommend this episode. i also listened to the Nerdist podcast with Gillian Anderson. i enjoyed that as well, though i do regret never getting into the X-Files back in the day. i think my 38 year old self would enjoy it now. #XFiles2015

i believe mom wants to go to the store later today. i know she has some pills to pick up. i'm planning on tagging along as i need to do some people watching to get some words flowing in the head again. not sleeping in my bed has somewhat extinguished any poems here lately. now, a sane person would just bring their notebook down to the chair they are sleeping in. the writer would then protest about how he only writes the "good shit" up in his room. hence my dilemma.

the New York Rangers play up in Boston tonight. i'm hoping they can get back to their winning ways as i don't see want to see them start slumping going into the All-Star break.

other than that tonight, i might mix in some pro wrestling. i know i am planning on watching Dan Patrick on The Late Show with David Letterman.

i will probably be on here early tomorrow as we will be leaving in the afternoon to travel to Columbus to see the New York Rangers play the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night. hopefully i'll finally get to see them win there in person. more on that tomorrow.

i need to get going and feed the cats. they are probably sleeping in the sun at the moment. i'm going to be the asshole to wake them up.

i hope everyone has a good day. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

and here comes a little snow as well

well, taking more sleeping pills didn't work out for me. i'm at the point now where i might as well just drink the pain away. the bags under my eyes are pretty incredible at the moment. thankfully, i am able to get little cat naps in every now and then. if i couldn't do that, i'd be incredibly unbearable at the moment. i'd like to report that the pain is getting better, but it's not. i'm getting better at blocking it out from my mind.

i'm truly amazed at how quickly people forget how to drive around here. took my mother forever to get to her conference this morning because some places got almost a 1/2 inch of snow. i suppose people are too busy on their phones while driving. we're supposed to get a couple inches of snow in the next few days. i put down a preemptive round of ice melter down since i am in no shape to shovel at the moment. hopefully that will work. or, hopefully i can get out early tomorrow and get everything done before the snow hits.

the New York Rangers lost last night 2-1. really a case of running into a hotter goalie and not getting much help from blind officials. they play again tomorrow against Detroit.

tonight is going to be a tricky one for me on television. the Dayton Flyers play at Fordham tonight at 9. that is on television, though i may listen to it on the radio. Duck Dynasty is back tonight as well as another episode of American Horror Story. hopefully, all of that is good enough that i won't remember that i can barely move my left arm without some kind of pain.

and since my bed has become mostly useless over the last few nights, i might just end up sleeping in my chair tonight. usually i can find the right spot and with the help of the heating pad, get a few hours at least.

and if the whiskey starts flowing tonight, maybe i whip out some watercolors and get a little of this insanity down on some paper.

waiting for the mechanic to call me back with prices on new tires. i guess my truck also needed a tune up on top of an oil change. and the tires were about 60% used up. so, it is definitely time to get some new ones. happy birthday to me i guess.

other than all that, just the usual day in the life of a poet. caught up on some pornography, listened to some music a little louder than normal, and basically filled my Google+ page with tons of nonsense.

i do highly recommend the latest podcast from the Sam Roberts Show Online, #86, Naked Girls. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, notsam.com, or on the right hand side of this blog. well worth your time.

that is all. back to your regularly scheduled lives of debauchery.

a nice cherry on top near the end of 2013

so i got up yesterday morning full of nervous energy. got a good night of sleep surprisingly and was able to get all the stuff i had to do around the farm done pretty quickly. after a little breakfast i settled in for a little hockey.

team USA destroyed Germany 8-0 at the World Juniors. this was the game i was hoping for. easily handle an inferior opponent in the second game of back to backs. also, a complete performance as they never looked ahead to their next game. they play Canada tomorrow in their annual new year's eve war. should be yet another classic.

after that, a quick shower, and then off to see Dayton play Murray State. of course, i made sure to check all my fantasy football shit before i left. more on that later. Dayton started off cold, uninterested, and sloppy as hell. thankfully, they woke up before the first half was over. and then really flexed their muscles in the second half, winning 72-51. i was a little stunned they beat the spread as they were favored by 17. that's why i quit betting years ago. Dayton plays again on new year's day at 2 pm.

after the game there was a little concert by an 80's cover band, Stranger. it was really better than i ever thought it would be. here's a link to their site: http://stranger80s.com/

i only asked to see my mother's phone to check the NFL scores once. and once i saw that a few of my players had decent games and my opponent's QB had a horrible game, i felt pretty damn good. and then in the car ride home i heard that Drew Brees had thrown his 4th TD in the first half and i knew i was going to win. and with the final score of 168.24 to 102.06 i had won my 5th NFL Fantasy championship. my first on NFL.com and my first in this group with other poets and publishers. needless to say, the alcohol was flowing last night. i figure if i'm going to hate losing the way i do i might as well enjoy winning more than i should as well. so after a nice stiff double shot of whiskey and 2 victory beers from the wins earlier in the day, i was feeling pretty damn good.

the New York Rangers added to my joy last night with a 4-3 victory down in Tampa. it was the King's first victory since god knows when. plus, it was really nice to see the power play start to really click. highlights are below:

i haven't had that victory beer yet. i didn't want to drink myself into a morning on the toilet. so far so good with that call. i imagine i'll have that beer during Monday Night Raw tonight. plenty of rumors going on with who is going to be on the show tonight, so i'm hoping it's going to be a good one. other than that, i'm guessing there's probably some college football or basketball on that i'll be watching as well. all while still glowing about my victory.

and keeping in a private promise i had with myself, i am now officially, (once again), a New Orleans Saints fan. i was a huge fan when i was a child. but once i started playing fantasy football, i gave it up but told myself, if i can ever win a title with Drew Brees or Darren Sproles, i would become a fan again. and after YEARS of trying to do it, last night i finally did. and thankfully, the team is much better than when i was a fan starting in 1983. so, plenty of black and gold once again.

it's been lightly snowing here for hours. maybe an inch of accumulation so far. i was hoping it was going to start snowing heavier so i could do a quick YouTube video. i've got an idea about doing a reading in the snow. hopefully i can pull that off sometime before spring.

hope everyone is well. hope your weekend was as good as mine. and i do hope you are ending your 2013 on top of something or someone. good times.
