i actually got some sleep last night. and it wasn't from drinking myself to sleep. i do have a victory beer waiting for me. i decided not to drink it last night. i would like to actually enjoy it.
i was drained after the basketball game last night. it wasn't the game that did it to me, it was more the pain in my left arm. it's this persistent fucking annoying pain that won't go away. i can take pills, i can rub on ointments, and i can still feel the fucker. now, it gets to the tricky part of all this. with my birthday coming up, with the NHL All-Star game coming up, more basketball games, etc., i want to just ride this pain until next month and then maybe i'll give up and see a doctor. but, as i sit here and struggle to type this up, i do know this is going to test all the pain tolerance i have. good times.
as for the basketball game last night, Dayton struggled again in the first half, trailing at halftime by 2. whatever their coach said at halftime truly worked. they beat LaSalle at every aspect of the game, rebounding, defense, fast break points, etc. it was a pleasure to see. Dayton's point guard erupted in the second half and scored all 16 of his points in the final 20 minutes. i'm hoping the injury scare last night with Dayton's lone senior is nothing major. they can't stand to lose anymore players. Dayton won 61-50. they next play St. Louis at home on Saturday.
we made it back home in time to catch American Horror Story and Lucha Underground.
American Horror Story was excellent. the show had a few more deaths and a few more twists and turns as well. i really have enjoyed what Neil Patrick Harris has brought to the show. i can't wait for next week's episode.
Lucha Underground was excellent as well. i really enjoyed all the matches. i'm hoping this promotion really starts to catch on with other wrestling fans.
speaking of wrestling, i listened to the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast with Jim Ross this morning. i highly recommend this episode. i also listened to the Nerdist podcast with Gillian Anderson. i enjoyed that as well, though i do regret never getting into the X-Files back in the day. i think my 38 year old self would enjoy it now. #XFiles2015
i believe mom wants to go to the store later today. i know she has some pills to pick up. i'm planning on tagging along as i need to do some people watching to get some words flowing in the head again. not sleeping in my bed has somewhat extinguished any poems here lately. now, a sane person would just bring their notebook down to the chair they are sleeping in. the writer would then protest about how he only writes the "good shit" up in his room. hence my dilemma.
the New York Rangers play up in Boston tonight. i'm hoping they can get back to their winning ways as i don't see want to see them start slumping going into the All-Star break.
other than that tonight, i might mix in some pro wrestling. i know i am planning on watching Dan Patrick on The Late Show with David Letterman.
i will probably be on here early tomorrow as we will be leaving in the afternoon to travel to Columbus to see the New York Rangers play the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night. hopefully i'll finally get to see them win there in person. more on that tomorrow.
i need to get going and feed the cats. they are probably sleeping in the sun at the moment. i'm going to be the asshole to wake them up.
i hope everyone has a good day. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
peace and chicken grease...

falling asleep at the computer
the basketball game last night completely drained me. drained me to the point that i was falling asleep at the computer last night as i was checking emails.
Dayton played like absolute shit in the first half. the coach had been telling everyone for 3 days how Bowling Green would come out in this game and just like most teenagers or young adults, the players didn't listen. Dayton was down by 8 at half time. now, this is the part where i truly know i am a genius. as the second half started i told my mother what Dayton should do. just cut the lead down in each 4 minute segment and by the end, they will be right there. when Dayton tied the score at 39, i was feeling pretty good. when Bowling Green rattled off 11 straight points to go up 50-39 with something like 11 minutes left, i was thinking fuck me runnin'. thankfully, Dayton finally showed up with the Dayton team i know they can be. Dayton finished the game on a 17-2 run to win 56-52. hats off to Devon Scott for completely outplaying a NBA prospect last night. Dayton next plays at Arkansas. as much as i would like to think they can win, they better play about 1000000000000% better than have been playing. here are some highlights from last night:
we got home from the game in time to watch the Dan Patrick interview on the Golf Channel. that was pretty good.
i was up late enough to see this last night. i absolutely laughed my ass off. the genius of Ricky Gervais:
i got to see what i missed on The Voice last night. my two locks did make it through to the finals. i have no clue what America sees in Chris Jamison. his voice sounds like dog shit to me. Damien won the overnight vote between all the performers previously voted off to be the fourth finalist. so, all 3 members of Team Adam make it to the finals along with Craig from Team Blake. i'll laugh my ass off if Craig wins it.
i think i have to drive mom to a doctor's appointment here in a few hours, so i thought i better get this out of the way.
tonight should be an interesting night of television for me. i'm looking forward to Lucha Underground tonight. and then, i'm really looking forward to American Horror Story.
currently, i'm getting my Christmas card list together and figuring out who is going to get some goodies. i also have cats to feed and it looks like the birds need some food as well.
if you'd like to get me something for the holidays, feel free to get me ANYTHING from my Amazon.com wish list. you'll find a link to it on the right hand side of this blog.
that's all for me today. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

a friday in june, stuck indoors
by choice. the sun tends to be my enemy these type of days.
great game from LeBron last night. as Dan Patrick said this morning, if they win game 7, it's historic, if they lose, it's a footnote.
not surprised the Yankees couldn't pull off the sweep. much easier to revert back to the old bullshit that sadly this season is being built upon. no shutdown innings, no key hits, no timely hits, blah blah blah. maybe the series against the Mets will get my juices going, but i doubt it.
watched the start of EURO 2012 today. i suppose my afternoons of music listening are going to be replaced for the next month or so.
i sent 5 poems to Underground Voices today. fingers are crossed.
other than the usual back pain and apathy, taking cat naps while watching soccer on tv in the air conditioning today wasn't that bad.
and it's always good to hear from a friend. hello.
not as much music today, but 2 of my favorites snuck their way into my ears
Jamey Johnson - That Lonesome Song
Cowboy Junkies - Studio: Selected Studio Recordings 1986-1995
"A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love." - Max Muller
