at least it was sunny...

if it was just a little warmer today, it would have been perfect to open up the house some.

here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

the Yankees won last night at home against the Royals, 4-2. hopefully, they will get the sweep tonight.

NXT was excellent last night. i can't wait for Stand & Deliver this weekend.

Dark Side of the Ring was very good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite, the season finale of Abbott Elementary and The Masked Singer.

i did watch some of the NBA playoffs last night. i plan on doing that tonight as well.

i did write 2 poems yesterday. i typed those up after i got back from mom's physical therapy session.

grocery shopping today went pretty well. i was able to get everything on the list and keep it under $200.

i guess it helps that WrestleMania is on Easter this year. so, there will be no need for the traditional Easter dinner. that saved some money.

i need to go ice my back down.

it always seems to happen...

sometime around 9 or so last night, i found myself thinking about the stuff i didn't get at the grocery store. so, after i take mom to her accountant, i will probably be going to Meijer to get what i forgot to put on the list.

here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

my nightmare is finally over, i did win a bet last night. hopefully, that will be the start of a winning streak.

i did watch a little of the NBA play in games last night.

AEW Dynamite and AEW All Access were both really good last night.

The Masked Singer was crazy as usual last night.

Snowfall was excellent last night. next week is the series finale.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon and NJPW.

the New York Yankees play tonight at home against the Twins.

the New York Rangers play their final regular season game tonight at home against Toronto.

Manchester United plays at home today against Sevilla in the Europa League.

i'm going to try to be on here tomorrow in the morning. i know i have to take mom to get her bloodwork done tomorrow afternoon. i'm not sure if we're going to eat after that or not. so, i figure if i have the blog already done, she would be more inclined to do something afterwards.

the heart against the brain...

today is the day where Ohio State plays that shit school up north. and this is the first year in a long time where my heart is not fully aligned with my brain. i will never root for Michigan but even i can tell, they are a better team this year. but, the game is not played on paper. and honestly, when (please, that looks better than if) Ohio State wins today, it will be even sweeter knowing Michigan will have no chance to win the Big Ten title or play for a national championship this season.

the grocery store yesterday wasn't too bad. i went in the afternoon and it was mostly zombies. i felt bad for the young black guy ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. he was trying his best to keep it lively, but you could tell between the weather and the time of day, no one could give two shits.

the Dayton Flyers started off ice fucking cold yesterday against Oklahoma. they dug themselves a pretty deep hole. but, like a couple thousand times before, they dug themselves out of that hole in the second half. sadly, they couldn't hold on to that lead and lost 65-54. 2 observations from their games in the Bahamas... the free throw shooting must get better, and they will not win any games this season where Josh Cunningham only gets 5 points. their next game is at home on November 30th against Mississippi State.

the New York Rangers laid an egg on national television yesterday, losing at Philadelphia, 4-0. the game was so bad that instead of watching the 3rd period, i took a shower instead. the Rangers play Washington this afternoon at home.

VICE was very interesting last night.

both episodes of Room 104 last night were great.

Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus was about Bootsy Collins last night. it was great.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

Manchester United plays this morning at home against Crystal Palace. i don't think the game is on television, so i'll just follow it online.

so by this afternoon i will be either really happy or beyond fucking pissed. United, Ohio State and the Rangers play back to back to back. i hope at least a couple of them win. it's been raining and i could use the alcohol.

i only got 4 hours of sleep and wouldn't you know, this morning the garage door started to fuck up. it never fails.

my sister is going back home today. 3 days is about as long as she can stand to stay here. she's a little bitchy this morning, so i know she would rather be at her home.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

the cold sunshine

it was kind of chilly today, but the sun was out. so after i got home from the bank, i went out in the yard and got some work done. i put some bird feeders out for the small birds; and changed a couple of the ones we had in front with feeders we had in the back before we got the landscape redone. once they put the final tree in, i'll put the suet feeders back out and then it should be complete.

the New York Rangers lost in OT last night at Washington, 4-3. still, they managed to get a point out of that game which makes me think they will at least be competitive most nights of the season.

NXT was really good last night.

205 Live was good last night.

the Mae Young Classic was excellent last night.

Lucha Underground was good last night.

Mr. Mercedes was fucking great last night. next week is the season finale.

American Horror Story was fucking amazing last night.

Total Divas was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Will & Grace.

i will probably watch some of the NBA tonight. it will be really weird to see LeBron in a Lakers uniform.

i might watch some of the NFL tonight, basically for shits and giggles.

i did listen to episode 208 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:
http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2018/10/18/notsam-wrestling-208-don-callis

mom picked out some really nice doors and black storm doors for the house last night. she dropped a little over 7 grand for them. she laughed and said well, it's only your inheritance. i chuckled knowing i will get nothing when she dies, much like when my father died. and i have little hope to outlive my sister, who already told me any money she leaves me will be put in a trust and will be given to me as a monthly allowance. i better figure out how to win that damn Mega Millions draw tomorrow night.

i guess the plan for tomorrow is to get some poems out in the morning and then hit the grocery store. i will probably be on here after i get back home.

that's all for me kids.

where pain meets depression and madness starts to laugh

i have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday afternoon. the swelling in my leg went down some overnight. it's still at a level where i would love to know what the fuck is going on. it doesn't feel like when i had blood clots a decade ago, so i'm hoping that's a good sign.

i've spent most of the afternoon talking to my best friend as it looks like she's busy talking herself out of getting the treatment she needs for her breast cancer. and then of course, she'll change her mind 20 minutes later. i seriously wonder how far off she is on her meds. and it's so much fun getting all this dumped on you when you can't do a damn thing about it. these are the afternoons where you can't find another word for hopeless.

and since it's supposed to rain later on tonight, my arthritis is starting to flare up. that then starts to fuck with my nerves. it's a symphony of pain. these are the days where i wish i wouldn't have talked myself out of doing heroin when i was 18.

Westworld was amazing last night.

Last Week Tonight was fucking brilliant as always.

Billions was very good last night.

I'm Dying Up Here was really good last night.

Total Bellas was as stupid as it always is last night.

Drop the Mic was excellent last night.

the New York Yankees whipped the Royals yesterday 10-1. that's the 8th straight series the Yankees have won. they haven't done that since 1998. they start a series tonight at Texas.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs yesterday:

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Voice. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i might watch some of the NHL and NBA playoffs tonight as well.

i could do without the rain for a few days please...

i think i have been in pain for about the last 15 hours or so. arthritis is slowly driving me even more insane than normal, which can't possibly lead to something good. it wasn't exactly great watching wrestling last night while curled up in a ball aching like a motherfucker.

i did a little poetry work today. hopefully tomorrow i'll be sending out 15 poems.

the New York Yankees left a small village on base yesterday (16) and lost to Baltimore 7-4 in 11 innings. so much for the sweep. they start a series tonight with Toronto.

WWE Payback was much better than i expected last night. i was a little surprised by a few of the matches, especially KO vs. Jericho and Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley. the House of Horrors match was so bad i was laughing during it. and i can't get enough of Braun Strowman just beating the shit out of everyone.

Veep was excellent last night.

Silicon Valley was hilarious last night.

Guerrilla was great last night.

Billions was amazing last night. the season finale next week should be incredible.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice and Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

all the music today is FREE music i got from NoiseTrade. click on the links to get your FREE copy.

i took mom today to her podiatrist. he prescribed an oral medication that "should" help with her feet faster than what the ointments and soakings are doing. i suppose time will tell.

hard to believe it's already May 1st. time certainly flies the closer you get to the circle being complete.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i'll probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank and most likely the pharmacy.

falling asleep at the computer

the basketball game last night completely drained me. drained me to the point that i was falling asleep at the computer last night as i was checking emails.

Dayton played like absolute shit in the first half. the coach had been telling everyone for 3 days how Bowling Green would come out in this game and just like most teenagers or young adults, the players didn't listen. Dayton was down by 8 at half time. now, this is the part where i truly know i am a genius. as the second half started i told my mother what Dayton should do. just cut the lead down in each 4 minute segment and by the end, they will be right there. when Dayton tied the score at 39, i was feeling pretty good. when Bowling Green rattled off 11 straight points to go up 50-39 with something like 11 minutes left, i was thinking fuck me runnin'. thankfully, Dayton finally showed up with the Dayton team i know they can be. Dayton finished the game on a 17-2 run to win 56-52. hats off to Devon Scott for completely outplaying a NBA prospect last night. Dayton next plays at Arkansas. as much as i would like to think they can win, they better play about 1000000000000% better than have been playing. here are some highlights from last night:

we got home from the game in time to watch the Dan Patrick interview on the Golf Channel. that was pretty good.

i was up late enough to see this last night. i absolutely laughed my ass off. the genius of Ricky Gervais:

i got to see what i missed on The Voice last night. my two locks did make it through to the finals. i have no clue what America sees in Chris Jamison. his voice sounds like dog shit to me. Damien won the overnight vote between all the performers previously voted off to be the fourth finalist. so, all 3 members of Team Adam make it to the finals along with Craig from Team Blake. i'll laugh my ass off if Craig wins it.

i think i have to drive mom to a doctor's appointment here in a few hours, so i thought i better get this out of the way.

tonight should be an interesting night of television for me. i'm looking forward to Lucha Underground tonight. and then, i'm really looking forward to American Horror Story.

currently, i'm getting my Christmas card list together and figuring out who is going to get some goodies. i also have cats to feed and it looks like the birds need some food as well.

if you'd like to get me something for the holidays, feel free to get me ANYTHING from my Amazon.com wish list. you'll find a link to it on the right hand side of this blog.

that's all for me today. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

a weekend gone to hell

Saturday was pretty good for me. and then a shitty Sunday morning, and quite frankly, all is lost.

i'll work my way backwards. when i heard the news that Wayne Rooney wasn't going to play today, i had a certain amount of dread. then watching the pitiful first half Manchester United played at Liverpool, that dread was warranted. why the kids aren't been given chances before older players that suck is beyond me. a 1-0 loss is unacceptable when it's now 2 straight games without a goal. i hope to christ i see news by tomorrow evening of some signings (and i suppose they have to be Everton players since it's obvious that Moyes doesn't know how to coach United players) or selling some guys off to give other players a chance. i was angry enough to want to punch holes through walls. i didn't though. i'm pretty sure i'd be the one paying for repairs.

The Yankees got a complete game 3 hit shutout yesterday from Nova and 2 RBI from Cano to win 2-0. better yet, they pass Baltimore in the standings are now just 3 1/2 out of a playoff spot. hopefully they can get the sweep later today.

Ohio State had an awesome start to their game. probably too easy as they basically took the rest of the game off. a 40-20 win that felt much closer than the score.

there were some great college football games last night that i really enjoyed. Georgia and Clemson was definitely one of those. that game pretty much had my attention for all of it.

ROH last night was good. i have to admit i was fighting sleep for most of it. glad to see Adam Cole is now bringing his prick character to ROH. he's a much better heel than face. shouldn't be too long before he is in with the big boys.

i stole a few cat naps along the way yesterday. so i somehow felt refreshed after just 5 hours this morning. that has all changed as now the rest of the day i will be the asshole.

most of the Sunday night shows are off for the Labor Day weekend, so i believe it's just Big Brother and Total Divas this evening. and seeing how there is no way i'll be falling asleep at 11, i do believe i will be writing late tonight. and probably spending my holiday Monday typing them up.

now i'm off to take out the trash and feed the cats and probably scream some expletives to release some stress.

color me shocked

so, after the huge trade the New York Rangers pulled off yesterday, i sat down last night to watch them play Pittsburgh. needless to say, i was a bit shocked at what happened. i would post video highlights but for some reason YouTube and Blogger are not working well with each other today. so, here is a game write-up from Andrew Gross.
http://www.northjersey.com/sports/Rangers_trade_Marian_Gaborik_rout_Penguins_6-1.html?page=all
to think that Brassard and Moore arrived just 10 minutes before the warm-up and they both score. add to that Ryane Clowe scores his first 2 goals as a Ranger and those are his first 2 goals of the season. totally fucking unbelievable. hopefully the boys bottle this and play like that for the rest of the season. if they do, they will make the playoffs and i will be a very happy man.

on a meaningless side note, the Yankees lost last night 7-4. 2 games in and my belief hasn't changed. if this team can't pitch and hold the other team under 4 runs, they won't win. simple as that. now watch them go out tonight and prove me wrong. (another futile attempt at reverse psychology positive bullshit). i guess Travis Hafner and Vernon Wells hit their first Yankee home runs last night. i wouldn't know for sure as i probably only watched 10 minutes of the game at most.

the damn raccoon messed up one of the good bird feeders last night. hopefully the new repellent works. if it doesn't, i believe my sister recently took some firearms classes, maybe she would like to come down for some target practice. in case neither happens, i have replaced the good bird feeder with a 2 liter bottle held up on a string. i couldn't give 2 shits if they mess that one up.

the temps have warmed up a bit here today. thankfully. maybe the forecast for the weekend will be correct for once and it actually hits the 60's finally.

started reading More Notes of a Dirty Old Man: The Uncollected Columns by Charles Bukowski last night. so far so good.

the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Justin Chin.

i'm torn if i'm going to watch the Yankees lose again tonight or flip between a ton of hockey games that my fantasy players are on. i do know i will be watching The Big Bang Theory. other than that, i imagine it will simply be a mission to avoid commercials.

...and back to reality

first things first, this blog post is brought to you by episode #36 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find the show on ITunes, Stitcher, and by going here http://notsam.com/podcast.html. give it a listen, you'll enjoy it. and even if you don't, tell someone about it. and help Sam out if you can. help him add a video element to the podcast as well. this guy has all the goods to be big one day. get on the train early.

hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday. i had my usual family dinner on Friday. i don't do much family shit on Thanksgiving. i decided as a teen it probably wasn't the best for me to be with the cousin that molested me as a child. so, i imagine once she dies, maybe i'll come around again. until then, it will be me, some football, some porn, and an early start to Christmas shopping. which, thankfully, i am about 98% done with.

i was going to get on here earlier and give a long rant about UD losing tonight by 1 fucking point to Weber St. but i decided to let my anger pass. i didn't go to the game as my mother is in Columbus at a conference and i really didn't feel like driving at night with these new glasses. (quick side note, holy fuck my eyes are bad. first time i've had new glasses in 3 years and fuck, it was like the first time i saw HD. oh, so that's what i have been missing. i'm willing to bet in 10 years i'll be legally blind.) but, by watching the game i remembered why i always like going. god, the UD tv announcers fucking suck. just god fucking awful. let alone the game. when you can't make a shot from 3 feet to save your life, you die. it's really that simple.

thankfully, Manchester United won earlier in the day 1-0. RvP scores 31 seconds in and the other 93 minutes were nearly a complete fucking bore. but, 3 points are 3 points. and a clean sheet, been a long fucking time since i remember one of those.

random thoughts

tomorrow will be a laundry day, wait around for the UPS/FED EX guy day, hope my fantasy football team gets off to a good start day, who did the Yankees sign day, does this still look good to eat day.

i gave in to the hype and got Trilogy by TheWeeknd. glad i did.

totally stoked for the final 6 from The Voice. i'm good with any one of them winning.

Boardwalk Empire has really got hot with the last 2 episodes. can't wait for the season finale coming up.

welcome back Kuroda and Pettitte. may father time elude both of you AGAIN. fuck me, sign someone under 40 for a fucking change.

i think i figured out what was leaking in the fridge. and if my mother reads this, i mopped and cleaned it well. if she's not reading this, i love strong paper towels.

ready for the funeral

this blog post is brought to you by episode 32 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find the episode on Itunes, Stitcher, and notsam.com. click on podcast and help a budding superstar out. i highly recommend this episode. it is FUCKING HILARIOUS.

i'm in all black today, ready for the Yankees funeral. i'm not very happy mother nature postponed the inevitable, but oh well. here's hoping CC doesn't do the same today. i am so ready for this season to be over and for the team to be blown up. of course, that will be next to impossible with all the horrific contracts they have, but a man can dream can't he...

plenty on the tv docket tonight as well. a good NFL game, a sneaky good college football game, and the usual Thursday night television as well. guess i'll be napping in front of the tv again.

actually wrote a poem yesterday that came out of nowhere. love when that happens. of course, the main line popped in my head at the post office. so, like a madman, i repeated it out loud to myself over the blaring music on the ride home. thankfully, i only live about 5 minutes away. i'll be typing that up tomorrow most likely. hopefully, a few others pop in my head and i'll be thinking about another submission next week.

i always feel better after a few drinks

needless to say i didn't sleep well last night. when people around my own age, or people i've been published with die, it's always a wake up call to me. and i'm one of these fuckers who reflects too much anyway...

after i woke up and had one of my you sat around and watched too much football shits, i finally settled into a Monday. shockingly, i am still leading 2 of my 3 fantasy football matches. i thought for sure that was a mistake as i tried to fall asleep last night.

i'll be flipping around tonight between The Voice, Monday Night Football, and Monday Night Raw. i'll probably pay more attention to wrestling than anything else. i'm really liking that CM Punk has turned evil again and has Paul Heyman at his side. FUN FUN FUN. 2 of the best minds in the business. hopefully the powers that be in the WWE allow them to take all of us on a journey that none of us see coming. plus, any time John Cena loses i'm a happy boy.

had a nice lunch with mother this afternoon. always fun shooting the shit in a sports bar. never gets old.

watched Everton get robbed of 2 goals this afternoon against New Castle. i can just imagine what i would have broken if that would have happened to Manchester United. it wouldn't have been pretty...

the day turned to shit around noon

so, i got in this morning from feeding the cats and birds just as Manchester United was getting scored on. fucking great, this is going to be a long day i start thinking. thankfully, RvP decides he's going to pull a spectacular goal out from his ass and sets Old Trafford on fire. 2 more goals in the first half from the boys and i'm feeling good. then the usual try to not lose instead of trying to win costs them and their shitty, shitty injury filled defense. they win 3-2 but it wouldn't be a Manchester United game without an injury. a nasty, nasty, NASTY gash to Wayne Rooney's thigh. seriously, i'm talking fucking shark week nasty here. early reports are he's going to be out a month. just fucking great.

scouted out a few new places to send poetry to and did the dishes between soccer matches from Italy, Spain and Germany. thank you DIRECTV.

and then the Yankees. after watching Tampa Bay lose earlier in the day, here's a great chance to stretch the lead a bit. of course, Kuroda has one bad inning and the Yankees only can muster one fucking hit with runners in scoring position (out of the 9 damn at bats they had) and lose 3-1. this will go down in the wasted opportunity column if they blow the division this year. at least they were kind enough to get the damn game over in under 3 hours.

kind of shocked Magic Johnson would do something good for Boston, apparently hell has frozen over. hopefully the Red Sox blow that quarter of a billion dollars they are saving in the trade on more shitty players. makes it more fun for this Yankee fan.

why i love music

got an email this morning from http://www.noisetrade.com/ about an album from Matthew Perryman Jones. my first thought was who? but i've had a ton of success with the site so i decided to give the album a listen.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Land of the Living is right up there with Father John Misty and Alabama Shakes as the best music i have heard this year. why i have never heard of MPJ before now is due to ignorance i suppose. and i have promptly taken that ignorance behind the barn and shot it.

the album is only up on NoiseTrade for a week. oh, and another thing...

it's FREE

(you can always tip if you so desire...)

i urge all of you that love music to go download it or find something on the site and download it. it's free and legal. tell all of your music loving friends as well.
