this weather has me in a constant state of pain. between my left arm absolutely fucking killing me at the moment to the general soreness that i haven't been able to sleep well for 2 weeks and the windchill is somewhere around -30. when i went out to feed the cats i took a breath through my nose as i figured it would be less painful for my nose to freeze than my lungs. all cats are still alive by the way. Kit Kat is back to using all 4 legs again.
i did watch Manchester United get a 2-0 win today over Cardiff City. amazing what a big signing will do. Mata gets an assist, RVP and Rooney are back healthy, and the sun decides to shine on the ass of that dog Ashley Young. 3 very badly needed points and a very badly needed victory beer.
not exactly sure what i'm going to watch tonight. i will find something as i will not be watching the state of the union.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. it started off with the HHH middle finger like i thought it would, but by the end of the show, the fans got what they wanted. plus, it looks like the Wyatt Family and The Shield are going to feud here soon. i definitely like that.
i have no clue if i'm going to the Dayton Flyers game tomorrow. i believe if i am in this much pain again tomorrow, there is no fucking chance i'm going out. i do believe the game is on television. plus, the New York Rangers play another game at Yankee Stadium against the fucking Islanders. i really would love to see them whip those assholes just like they did the Devils.
that's all for me today. i'm going to go roll up into a ball and cry myself to sleep. and i'm sure every smart ass thinks those tears are from the fact that i'm unable to suck my own dick while in that ball. you would be correct.
stay warm. be well. be creative. and do something destructive.
peace.

unexpected happiness
so i got up this morning and for some reason, took 3 mighty shits in 45 minutes. not sure what the fuck caused that, so i took some Imodium so i wouldn't have to deal with that for the rest of the day. knock on wood, so far so good.
then, listened to mom bitch out some asshole at this rental company who flat out lied about when the lift we needed out here would arrive. it showed up 2 hours later than we were told. i'm encouraging her to not pay that portion of the bill.
after a little breakfast and getting the animals fed, i settled in for Manchester United. so, of course they would fall behind early. when RvP tied it before half, i decided i wasn't going to take my shower just yet. when they fell behind 90 seconds later, off to the shower i went. so i missed the first 8 minutes or so of the second half. which, quite honestly, i didn't miss anything. thankfully, Rooney ties the game again later and then Chicharito saves the day with another header to win the game. 3-2 in a when the fuck is the real Manchester United going to show up kind of game. but i'll gladly take the 3 points and the victory beer.
after that, off to the University of Dayton Arena to watch some college basketball. Dayton was playing Ryerson, a team from Canada. i was hoping for a blowout and that was what i got. Dayton won 89-62. for the first game of the season, i thought Dayton did pretty well. one thing i know for sure, this team is going to be much deeper than last year. next game is in a week.
after that, a trip to the sports bar where my cousin works. then, back home.
so, after getting through the 40 emails i had, i'm writing this, while sort of listening to the New York Rangers game on the television in the background. i don't have really high hopes for this evening. i'd love to see them win, but that would be a little too much to ask for.
after the first period or so, i will flip to the Ohio State game. they play Penn St. this evening. hopefully they can extend their winning streak. at best, give me a reason to not flip back to the Rangers game.
Saturday Night Live is new this evening. i will be watching that as Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors of all time. and i do believe ROH is on as well. so, sometime around 2 or so, i will be passing out. after a few victory beers.
hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend. big fantasy football day tomorrow. i have a few injuries i have to keep an eye out for early. so, it will be a morning of checking injury reports. sleep will be required.
until late tomorrow, after the Sunday night shows. unless something tonight pisses me off to the point i just have to bitch about it in the morning.

exhale
so, i was sort of trying to go into Manchester United's Champions League game today hopeful that David Moyes would take a good step forward. at first blush, he got the lineup right. and after a 4-2 win over a very tough German side, i'm pleased. it should have been 6-1, but i won't fret about those goals until they are needed. goals from Wayne Rooney (2), Robin van Persie, and Antonio Valencia. probably their best game of the season, minus the normal falling asleep late and giving up a goal near the end of the game. congrats to Wayne Rooney on his 200th goal for Manchester United.
i'll be enjoying the victory beer later this evening while flipping through channels or actually watching the Yankees game. they sit 2 1/2 games out of the second wild card, mostly due to the Texas Rangers putting on one of the all time late season swoons ever seen. the Yankees are up in Toronto. if they don't sweep this series, the playoff hopes basically go bye bye.
Monday Night Raw was pretty damn good last night. from Daniel Bryan getting stripped of the title, to Dusty Rhodes getting knocked out, to the locker room finally growing a set of nuts and saving Daniel Bryan at the end; a really good show. hopefully "creative" has a clear destination for all of these story lines. if not, i fear a huge clusterfuck in the late fall.
i didn't get to watch the New York Rangers last night due to the stupid blackout rules. i don't really pay much attention to the preseason. just like to know which players i should target in the draft.
i went 11-5 last week picking NFL games. that's 23-9 on the season so far. not bad.
i got my choices in for the waiver wire in fantasy football. i'm going to be the underdog in both of the games. not sure if the waiver wire will help or not. i feel like it's going to be a long week.
got my order from amazon.com today. hopefully some new music will keep the creative fire going.
the harvest has started today on the farm. soybeans are coming off today. looks like at least 3 trucks full. if that is correct, that should be a pretty nice payday. not sure when the corn is coming off. i'll try to get some pictures of that when it happens.
that's pretty much it for today. other than the large farm equipment, a pretty quite day. a little breeze, temps in the 70's. add a Manchester United victory and you have as close to a fucking utopia as i'm going to get to.
peace and chicken grease.

the start of a (hopefully) good weekend
i was up at 6 this morning. amazingly it was 42 degrees outside. i didn't turn on the heat last night, so the house was a comfortable 67. i believe my sister is reading this and saying something along the lines of that being cold as fuck.
Manchester United won this morning 2-0. considering they played the entire second half up a man, i would have liked to seen 4 or 5 goals. but, i'll gladly take the win. RVP and Rooney with the goals. starts off a huge week with Champions League play coming and the huge stage of next weekend against Manchester City.
the Yankees dug themselves a big hole last night. they came out of it and then their depleted bullpen put them right back in it. 8-4 loss on a night where all the teams around them in the standings won. 2 games out now, needing to pass Cleveland and Tampa to make a playoff spot. i'll watch a little of the game this afternoon, probably with one eye closed.
a big day of sports ahead. soccer for the next few hours. a huge (at least the way it has been hyped) game between Texas A&M and Alabama, and Ohio State is on the west coast for a game this evening. all of that, some ROH late tonight and perhaps a little writing and beer drinking in between.
i now need to go feed the cats and see how the young ones survived the cold. i believe we are down to only 1 new kitten now. this is why i refuse to name them until they survive a winter out here.
hope everyone has a good day. i do hope to have some poetry news to pass along tomorrow.

so much for doom and gloom
so i got up this morning ready for the return of the Premier League. hats off to NBC for their coverage of it. i truly love being able to see any of the matches. but the one i paid the most attention to started at 12:30. i had heard for the last week or so how Manchester United was going to fail this season, all the turmoil, lack of player signings, etc etc. so, all they do is go out at the team that finished 9th last season and win 4-1. 2 goals from RvP and 2 goals from Welbeck. Rooney played about 30 minutes and had 2 assists. it's rather obvious that he wants to be elsewhere from his body language. it is also really apparent that the club isn't going to sell him. as long as they win, i couldn't care less. a great start to the season.
the Yankees won last night in Boston 10-3. i had to laugh as Alfonso Soriano stayed hotter than hot with another HR and 4 RBI. Mark Reynolds, recently let go from the Indians, mostly because he hadn't hit a HR in 2 months, goes deep in his first at bat for the Yankees. if they can get some pitching and a few guys can stay hot over a month or so, i really think this team has a chance to make the playoffs. first time i have felt that all season. due to the stupid blackout rules, i'll only be able to follow today's game online. i figure i'll check in from time to time.
i do plan on watching some UFC tonight as i found Fox Sports 1 on DIRECTV this morning. so i have yet another sports channel to occupy my time. i also plan on watching ROH late tonight. an evening of combat.
hats off to my friend Sam Roberts, Professional Broadcaster, for the great interviews he's getting out in Los Angeles. go to his YouTube channel and check them out.

that's all for today. i have a fridge full of beer and i'm going to go enjoy a great victory.

all is right in the world (for at least a day)
i got up this morning after maybe 4 decent hours of sleep. i got through my email as fast as possible as i wanted to make sure i watched all the of the pre-game Community Shield stuff. then, i watched the game. RvP does what he has done since the day he came to the club, score BIG goals. i would have loved to not see Rafael get injured (he's out for a month) but shit happens. RvP scores in the second half as well as Manchester United wins the Community Shield 2-0. hopefully this isn't the only hardware Moyes wins this season. they need a midfielder badly and i wouldn't mind some more defensive depth. all in all though, a damn good start to the day.
then the Yankees came on. they got to Verlander early, getting home runs from A-Rod and Soriano. but, in part with the earth soon coming to an end, Mo blows the save for the third straight game. first time in his career he's done that. but, Brett Gardner saves the day with a walk off home run with 2 outs in the 9th. there's a victory beer i really wasn't expecting. the Yankees win their first series in a month. hopefully that becomes a trend if they truly want to make the playoffs.
ROH last night was great. i love a 6 man tag match that is all chaos and great wrestling. a spot fest for sure. next week will be great as it is the 100th episode and will have highlights from all the great television matches from the past.
i got the toilets cleaned and the trash down the lane a little later than normal. it's humid as hell here today. this weather is supposed to break in the next day or so. hopefully it goes as they are expecting as i will be able to turn off the a/c and open up the house again.
tonight will be my usual Sunday tv viewing; Big Brother, The Newsroom, Ray Donovan, and Total Divas. and then hopefully some sleep.
i got some more illustrations from the artist in Sweden today. BRILLIANT is an understatement. i'm really looking forward to see where this project goes.
that's pretty much it for today. i hope this finds all of you well.

doom and gloom on a Sunday morning
it's supposed to rain on and off all day long. one of those morning where my back is really tight. one of those mornings where you hope a few victory beers gets you through the day.
the New York Rangers finished off their regular season yesterday with a tidy 4-0 win over the Devils. with that win and some help, they ended up 6th in the conference and will play Washington in the playoffs for the 4th time in the last 5 years. just a bit of hatred has built up between the two teams. should be interesting to say the least. highlights from yesterday below:
the New York Yankees won again yesterday with a growing theme for this season. fall behind early, come all the way back, hold on for dear life. a nail biting 5-4 win. it was nice to see Travis Hafner actually play against a lefty for a change, and holy shit, drives in 4 of the 5 runs. rocket science. they go for the sweep later today.
Manchester United plays at Arsenal here in a little bit. i'm interested to see how interested the team actually is, considering the title is already won. not that i want them to win any less. today marks the return of RvP to his old stomping grounds. that could get ugly.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is David Chorlton. i've been published with David numerous times and have always enjoyed his work. find some for yourself and enjoy.
i imagine the rest of my day will consist of some NBA playoffs, some sleep, the Sunday night shows, getting off my lazy ass to get the trash out, feed the cats and birds in the rain, and eventually do the dishes. fun.

feeling good on a Tuesday
i got the grass cut before it rained. hopefully it does rain tonight, as that was the point of me busting my ass to get it done. thankfully, the guy that farms out here has decided to use about 80% of a front field i used to mow for crops. that took almost 2 hours off my mowing time. i won't bitch nearly as much if i can get all of it cut in under 4 hours like today.
i'm still happy as hell with the Manchester United win yesterday, 3-0. appropriate i suppose that title number 20 comes on a hat trick from number 20, Robin van Persie. nothing like all the goals coming in the first 35 minutes. gave me plenty of time to relax and soak it in. and here's a little picture for all the jealous fuckers out there.
i watched CC give up 4 runs in the first inning last night and never bothered to turn the Yankees back on. they lost 5-1. i don't think they'll do much better this evening either. i'll take a look during commercials i suppose.
if the New York Rangers win their MUST WIN game at Florida tonight and if Winnipeg loses in regulation, the playoffs are clinched. needless to say, i'll be a little focused on both games this evening. hopefully the Rangers step on the neck early and put a shitty team to bed before the end of the first period.
and in-between all that, i'll try to fit in The Voice, Deadliest Catch and the NBA playoffs. wish me luck.
i did enjoy The Voice last night. the talent seems to be a little better than last season. i can't wait until the live episodes.
as for Monday Night Raw, i enjoyed it but i knew i didn't love it with the number of times i flipped the channel to see other shit. it had some good moments, especially The Shield vs. Undertaker & Team Hell No, but not enough to keep me glued. hopefully that changes next Monday.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Donal Mahoney. one of the most consistent poets going today, i always enjoy his work. do yourself a favor and seek it out.

a windy day on the farm
decided to do another YouTube video. no poetry this time, just the wind out here on the farm today. there must be a massive cold front coming as the wind has been non-stop since this morning. anyways, here's the video with the new wind chimes in action.
was a little disappointed with Manchester United yesterday as they got outplayed for most of the game. they did end up with a 2-2 draw, albeit on a RvP goal that was offside. but, i'll gladly take the point. just 6 points away from title #20. that's just 2 wins. if they can't do that, they don't deserve to win it.
had an unexpected victory beer last night as the Yankees came back from being down 3-0 to win 4-3. CC settled down after the early innings, the bats came alive finally in the 7th and Travis Hafner hit a pinch hit HR in the 8th. i'm really starting to like this team. especially when they win.
the New York Rangers, since they have pissed away any wiggle room they had to make the playoffs, have an absolutely HUGE MUST WIN game tonight. they pretty much need to win out to make sure they make it. they are playing against teams they should destroy. of course, if they put in a full 60 minutes that is. they can't show up in the 2nd period and think they'll win like they did the last game.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Ed Galing. Ed is truly one of the old souls that i truly enjoy seeing in the same zines i am in. always good to know he's still around. do yourself a favor and do a quick Google search. it will be worth your time.
i was watching last night as the first sporting event in Boston took place. if, by chance, you did not get to see the national anthem, check it out below

was a little disappointed with Manchester United yesterday as they got outplayed for most of the game. they did end up with a 2-2 draw, albeit on a RvP goal that was offside. but, i'll gladly take the point. just 6 points away from title #20. that's just 2 wins. if they can't do that, they don't deserve to win it.
had an unexpected victory beer last night as the Yankees came back from being down 3-0 to win 4-3.
Ed is truly one of the old souls that i truly enjoy seeing in the same zines i am in. always good to know he's still around. do yourself a favor and do a quick Google search. it will be worth your time.
i was watching last night as the first sporting event in Boston took place. if, by chance, you did not get to see the national anthem, check it out below

sports, cats, music, life and not being able to balance all of them
i'll work myself backwards here. just got in from feeding the cats, taking out the trash, etc. i figured while i was outside, i might as well look for my cat, Langston Hughes. i checked all the places the cats usually hide when they are having kittens. no luck. then, i checked all the places where i have found dead cats before. no luck in those places either. sadly, i do believe the cat may be gone. i'll do what i did with all the others, give it 30 days. if Langston doesn't show up by then, i'll sadly have to admit that she's gone.
thankfully, Manchester United won this morning 2-0. it was so nice to see Robin van Persie score again. been way too long. only 7 more points to go to clinch the 20th league title.
i did enjoy Saturday Night Live and ROH tv last night. or, at least what i remember watching of them. the events prior to that drained me.
Louis C.K. new HBO special was hilarious. i laughed my ass off the entire time. thankfully the New York Rangers game and the college hockey national championship game both got done in time for me to watch from the start.
congrats to Yale for winning the college hockey national championship.
the New York Rangers had a playoff type victory over the Islanders last night 1-0, in OT. Hank picked a nice place to get his first shutout of the season. highlights below:
the victory beer tasted oh so sweet after that one.
The Yankees got some shitty, shitty, pitching yesterday from Phil Hughes and lost 5-3. the bullpen did great after Phil dug quite the hole. maybe a few clutch hits along the way and the Yankees could have come all the way back, but it was not meant to be. they play the Sunday night game tonight on ESPN. i'll flip between that and Veep on HBO and Nurse Jackie on Showtime.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Leah Angstman. it's hard to believe that i've known Leah for damn near 20 years. she's quite the publisher, poet, future novelist, etc. do check out her work if you get the chance. a good place to start is her website: http://leahangstman.blogspot.com/
i'll be glued to hockey stats all evening as i'm oh so close to pulling off a fucking miracle in fantasy hockey. hopefully i will have great news on that front tomorrow.
hope everyone has a great end of the weekend. the weather has warmed here and the winds have died down. might actually open a window this afternoon as golf puts me to sleep.

weekend recap
probably one of the better weekends i've had in some time. below are the details.
let's start off with a tidy 4-0 win for Manchester United on Saturday. the first half was kind of boring until the end where the first of 3 straight Kagawa goals came off a pass from RVP. the next two were set up beautifully by Wayne Rooney, who added a beauty of his own to make it 4-0. i, like most of the rest of the world, will be watching tomorrow as United takes on Real Madrid. BIG game. i'm really hoping for a win, and not a dramatic loss.
next up, the Dayton Flyers and their must win game against Richmond. first off, the refs in this game were atrocious. totally sucked ass. Dayton won by 4. the spread was 5 1/2. i can't imagine why i believe some refs have money riding on games. a bunch of huge plays from the freshmen down the stretch in the game. that gives me some hope for the future. below are the highlights. look for monster dunks from Dyshawn Pierre and Jalen Robinson. 2 moments that got UD Arena rocking big time.
Saturday Night Live was good, as was Ring of Honor. all in all, not a bad Saturday.
woke up Sunday with trash to pick up and dishes to do. got all that done, got my fantasy hockey and racing teams in order and got ready for a big sports day. i know, most of them are for me.
as for NASCAR, used the same 5 drivers i had from the previous week and all 5 finished in the top 13. not too bad at all.
as for fantasy hockey, thanks to some goals and power play points from the New York Rangers (more on that in a bit) i won my match this week 7-3. still 3rd overall in the league. big match this week with the leader of the other division. thankfully my team is getting healthy.
Sunday night had the New York Rangers facing off with Buffalo. an absolute snooze fest for 2 periods. i was so bored i was watching the MLS at times. then, that absolute fuckhead Patrick Kaleta woke up the Rangers with a truly nasty cheap shot on Brad Richards. what resulted after that you can find below.
always nice when the pp can score some goals. now, the short-handed one they gave up sucked. but, the Rangers did end up winning in a shootout 3-2. a much needed 2 points. as for Kaleta, he has a hearing later today. since it's on the phone, he will get no more than 5 games. personally, i wouldn't mind if this piece of shit just rotted in hell. i did like Brad Richards' quote after the game "I don't know which sport he plays. It's not hockey.", something to that effect. well put.
the Sunday night shows were all good, although the Rangers game went longer than i wanted so my viewing schedule was all fucked up. not always a fan of getting to bed at 3 in the morning, guess i'm still young enough to pull it off. barely.
best of all, the fucking sun made an appearance today. i was stunned walking down the steps this morning to see it. of course, it was 18 degrees outside at the time. i guess some weather is coming this way in the next few days. i've heard anything from freezing rain to 6 inches of snow. just great. mom has to travel to Columbus for a conference and any bad weather will probably keep me from attending senior night Wednesday in another must win for the Dayton Flyers. well, at least i don't mind pacing the first floor like a maniac when i listen to games on the radio. hell, maybe i'll get inspired and do some painting. maybe.
i did go through some poems today to get ready for another round of submissions. got a few places in mind. i'm thinking of later in the week or early next week. i definitely want to get them out there before i get consumed with March Madness.
hope this finds everyone well.

oh so close yet so damn far away
let me start with last night. i was feeling pretty damn good about myself until i watched the New York Rangers blow a 3 goal lead. now, they did come back to win the game 4-3 in a shootout. but, no lead like that should be given up with just 11 minutes to go in the game. but, i decided to try to focus on the positive. the win. the 2 points. beating Boston 2 out of 3 games.
now, for today. i did my best to keep my expectations and my emotions level while waiting for the Manchester United game against Real Madrid. of course, once the game started i was my usual loud, obnoxious self. a great goal from Danny Welbeck 20 minutes in and i'm feeling great. then, of course, CR7 ties it 10 minutes later. Real Madrid controlled most of the rest of the game. Manchester United's goalkeeper played the best game i have ever seen him play for the team. RVP had a few chances late to steal the game, but, all in all, a draw is not that bad actually. away goals are huge in these events. so, now just win the home leg in March and the team advances. as for Gus Johnson, not a bad job announcing for that big of a stage. a few mistakes but nothing awful. i was worried the Gus effect was going to take place in the game. thankfully it didn't happen. if you want some fun go here:
http://www.gusjohnsongetsbuckets.com/ and play around. or, if you happen to be at work, piss off a co-worker with it. as for the referee, who the fuck blows the final whistle when a team is getting ready to take a corner kick? there's 20 minutes of screaming i'll never get back. leave it to the Germans to try and ruin everything.
that brings me to the Dayton Flyers. for some fucking reason, they can't beat Rhode Island. a team that has fucking sucked for as long as i can remember and Dayton plays them like they are a UCLA team under John Wooden. so, as usual given the scenario i just laid out, Dayton loses on the road by 3 to a team that now has 7 wins on the season. thank god i didn't have a chance to watch this debacle. the biggest game of the season comes up this weekend (noon Saturday on ESPN2) and i am absolutely not looking forward to it. not sure if i can stomach watching those assholes from down south celebrate on our floor once again.
found out today (or yesterday as it now past midnight here) that my sister won't be here until the weekend. not sure what to expect but hopefully it will be a nice diversion in case Dayton loses again.
also, heard back from Five 2 One Magazine on my poetry submission from back in November. they have decided to pass.
hope everyone has a good valentine's day or at the very least, a better than you expected one. i'm not a big fan of the hallmark holidays, of course, i'm single. i imagine if i wasn't i'd be singing a different tune.

and here comes the wind
but first, about my Sunday. a pretty damn good one considering how my life has been for the last 2 weeks or so. first off, a nice and tidy 2-0 win by Manchester United. Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie with the goals. they have a huge match in a few days against Real Madrid in Champions League play. i'm really looking forward to this one. if they can win in Spain it might have me thinking about... fuck, i'm not going to say it and jinx anything.
next up, a nice 5-1 win for the New York Rangers. i think they have found the right combinations this year finally. hopefully i am correct. not much time to make up for the early season stumbles.
i'm now 1/2 game out of first place in fantasy hockey. not sure how i have done it with the number of changes i have already had to make. of course, i will take luck as long as it is working for me.
i enjoyed the Grammys last night for the most part. i actually knew most of the people in it this year. not sure if that's my musical tastes are changing or i'm simply just more aware.
as for the Sunday night shows i normally watch, Shameless takes the prize for last night. i totally didn't see the little girl with a penis coming at all. as for House of Lies, why does part of me think that's more like how Matt Damon really is like in real life? Girls was a bit odd and Californication always makes me laugh.
as for today, the wind has been wicked today. most of the buildings here on the farm were built in the 1800's. so, i'm just waiting for the one big gust to blow something down. i've been out here since 1997 and so far, only pieces of a roof have been victim to the wind.
i did manage to write 3 more poems today and get the trash cans before they blew down the road. add on getting the dishes done and i'd like to think i've been somewhat productive today. i'll probably type up the poems tomorrow, unless wrestling bores me to death tonight.
i truly enjoy when people try to comment on this blog with fake names and whatnot. it truly amuses me. like i'm going to become frustrated or something. please.

how a bad back can ruin a good weekend
my Saturday was pretty good.
team USA wins the gold at the World Juniors.
Robin van Persie pulls out a late goal to give Manchester United a draw against West Ham. replay should be in a week or two, this time at Old Trafford.
the Dayton Flyers hold on for their 10th win of the season. i was happy for the win, but, they played like shit for most of the game. they should have buried UAB, instead hold on to win by 7. some things never change. they can't beat the spread at home against anyone it seems.
then, before i fall asleep after some ROH, i hear rumblings that the NHL lockout could be over soon.
i wake up Sunday to see the lockout is over, although i refuse to get my hopes up just yet. get all the trash picked up and get ready to go upstairs to put on some more clothing to go out to feed the cats.
and then it happens. that holy shit feeling that i have dreaded for the last 5 years or so now. as i'm taking the first step up my back completely locks up. now mind you, i still managed to get up the stairs, get dressed, feed the cats, get back to the house walking over the sheet of ice we have here on the farm, and get some ice on it before the first spasm took place.
the cold did nothing at first. tried some heat and that felt pretty good. of course, until the spasms started. got those calmed down (we have no pain pills in the house that i'm aware of, so, hello my old friend alcohol) and got some ben gay cold on it. that seemed to do the trick, at least for a few hours.
there are times where i wish i had no pain tolerance. i'm sure in a few days i'll get an x-ray, i'll have some bulging discs, here comes the steroid shots and rehab again. or maybe not. only time will tell i guess. really, all i'm hoping for this evening is to be able to sleep with out screaming.
by the way, got 3 of the 4 NFL playoff games correct. would have been all 4 if the Colts remembered you have to score touchdowns to win.
if you don't see any posts from me for a few days, don't be alarmed, just know that it's probably impossible for me to sit at a computer long enough to post anything. if those days turn into weeks, i'll be sure to have someone post what hospital or morgue i'm at.

winter as i used to remember her
first off, this blog post is brought to you by The Sam Roberts Show Online. episode 39 is highly recommended. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, and by going here: http://notsam.com/podcast.html.
it's been an interesting 2013 so far. managed to stay up to see the ball drop but with no mumbling Dick Clark to laugh at, it just wasn't the same.
woke up in the morning to see Manchester United win easy over Wigan. 2 from RvP and 2 from the Mexican god Chicharito. 2 clean sheets in a row. i'm fucking amazed i just typed that. keep it up boys.
manged to pick all 6 bowl games correctly on New Year's Day. which, thankfully, included a Michigan loss. that never gets old.
the weather has taken a turn to holy shit, this is what winter used to be like. 9 damn degrees this morning. i don't mind it, just hate walking on ice. not fun when you have back problems.
woke up early this morning to watch team USA destroy the Czech Republic 7-0 at the World Juniors. next up is Canada. semi-finals. winner goes to the gold medal game. another 4 am start time. suppose, i'll be bleary eyed once again.
thankfully, the Dan Patrick Show is back. that helps me greatly in the morning. also, allows me to put off feeding the cats and birds until it gets a little warmer outside. you know, like 13 degrees.
had a doctor visit today. given my family history of diabetes and thyroid problems and my history with blood clots, i'll be going to get my blood drawn in a few days i guess. i'm not really worried about what they find. i'm betting on nothing, just like 4 years ago.
if you happen to notice on the right hand side of this blog, i've added some links to Nerdist and WTF. hope you enjoy.

a welcome distraction
so, after a day of being completely glued to the tv watching the news coverage of the shootings in Connecticut, i was very happy to have a mental break this morning and watch Manchester United play. more on that in a bit.
as for the shootings, i usually am pretty numb to violence. i've witnessed more than my fair share in my 36 years. but, i believe it was the age of the victims that caught me off guard on this one. not having any children of my own, but having plenty of friends and family with children around the same age... just a total sense of helplessness. my thoughts and prayers to all of those that need them.
now for the game. was pleasantly thrilled to see Manchester United didn't need to warm to the occasion; they were ready from the start. goals from RvP, Cleverley, and Rooney put the game to bed. of course, they couldn't go a game without at least one defensive fuck up, but the late goal really meant nothing. lead is back to 6 in the league. and a welcome back to the Captain. please, STAY HEALTHY.
got a basketball game later today that i will be attending. hopefully the Dayton Flyers will continue their good run of late and not show any rust from finals week. other than that, a little Saturday Night Live tonight, some ROH as well, a bit of sleep and then start the grind of my fantasy football playoffs. thankfully, i started the right defense on Thursday night, so i'm off to a good lead. hopefully, i won't blow it. fingers crossed.
i hope everyone has a decent rest of the weekend. and perhaps as a nation, we start to finally give a shit about guns and mental illness. if not now, when?

after a good weekend
i was going to do this blog post a few hours ago but my "high speed" internet (wink, wink) shit the bed once again. supposedly someone will be out here on Wednesday to "fix" the problem. so, once again Frontier Communications, thank you for the bullshit.
i'd like to welcome RvP into the Manchester United immortals after this weekend. go win the league and the Champions League and you will never be forgotten. and if you City fans ever wonder why i've always thought of you as worthless pieces of shit, the blood running down Rio's face should always be exhibit a. may the 6 points quickly become 15 and the world can forget about the blue turds.
won 2 of my 3 fantasy football matches. would have won 3 but my dumb ass didn't start the Patriots TE. that cost me, but that team still won the division. next week, the playoffs.
thanks to those of you who have let me know that my Christmas gifts arrived. after the week i've had with the post office, good to know miracles still exist.
my sister's last gift arrived so now it's all about deciding do i wrap the presents with the comics or the obituaries. decisions, decisions.
looks like the Yankees will be getting older in the next few days. there are times when i wonder why i bother.
thankfully, the Dayton Flyers have turned the season around pronto and things are looking promising once again. as i stated in the preseason, this team goes as far as Kevin Dillard takes it. thankfully, he's now understanding that as well.
looking forward to the 12/12/12 concert coming up. always good when i can just sit back and listen to music for hours and hours. torn if i should get the Rolling Stones PPV on the weekend. i've seen them live before (with Beck) and i'm not convinced this is really the last tour. but still, it's the Stones...
enjoyed the final 4 on the Voice. i'll be completely shocked if someone from team Blake doesn't win again after the performances earlier.
enough of my ramblings. hope this finds everyone well.
music today:
Hammock - Departure Songs Sampler
The Civil Wars - Live at Eddie's Attic
Brooke Annibale - Silence Worth Breaking
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." - Leonardo da Vinci

the happiness lasted for maybe 6 hours at best
i was not shocked at Manchester United's loss yesterday. thankfully, i didn't watch so my frustration with the lack of goals was muted somewhat. i was not thrilled to see that Cleverley came off with an injury. if he can't go this weekend, one of the old men (Giggs, Scholes) may have to play the whole 90 on Sunday. fuck, hopefully RvP is ready to destroy City and leave those blue fuckers crying for the rest of the season.
i was pleasantly shocked to see Dayton beat Alabama last night. easily, the most complete performance they have had all season. they finally looked like the team i thought i would see for the most of this season. hopefully they remember to play that way again when i see them on Saturday.
and any happiness i may have had from last night ended when i saw the Yankees offered a contract to Kevin Youkilis. fuck me, has it really turned to this? i mean, i had to accept Boggs and Damon even though it felt like part of my soul was dying, but, Youk? fuck me. turn to one of the kids and allow them to fail before you waste money on the Red Sox trash. knowing my luck i'll wake up tomorrow and he's accepted the deal.
bad enough my NFL.com fantasy team is going against someone who has half his roster playing tonight. i know i have already clinched the regular season title, but 1 loss looks much better than 2, i'm just sayin'.
got all the music i needed to burn for gifts for my family done today. so, now it's just waiting for one more gift for my sister to arrive and then time to break out the newspaper and wrap gifts. where the fuck did this year go?
NFL and The Big Bang Theory tonight. maybe a little of Dave's Old Porn as well later on. that and trying to keep up with everything going on with my google+ account. my thirst for knowledge will eventually drive me insane.
(somewhere i hear my family laughing, muttering eventually? more like already.)
music today:
Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

...and back to reality
first things first, this blog post is brought to you by episode #36 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find the show on ITunes, Stitcher, and by going here http://notsam.com/podcast.html. give it a listen, you'll enjoy it. and even if you don't, tell someone about it. and help Sam out if you can. help him add a video element to the podcast as well. this guy has all the goods to be big one day. get on the train early.
hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday. i had my usual family dinner on Friday. i don't do much family shit on Thanksgiving. i decided as a teen it probably wasn't the best for me to be with the cousin that molested me as a child. so, i imagine once she dies, maybe i'll come around again. until then, it will be me, some football, some porn, and an early start to Christmas shopping. which, thankfully, i am about 98% done with.
i was going to get on here earlier and give a long rant about UD losing tonight by 1 fucking point to Weber St. but i decided to let my anger pass. i didn't go to the game as my mother is in Columbus at a conference and i really didn't feel like driving at night with these new glasses. (quick side note, holy fuck my eyes are bad. first time i've had new glasses in 3 years and fuck, it was like the first time i saw HD. oh, so that's what i have been missing. i'm willing to bet in 10 years i'll be legally blind.) but, by watching the game i remembered why i always like going. god, the UD tv announcers fucking suck. just god fucking awful. let alone the game. when you can't make a shot from 3 feet to save your life, you die. it's really that simple.
thankfully, Manchester United won earlier in the day 1-0. RvP scores 31 seconds in and the other 93 minutes were nearly a complete fucking bore. but, 3 points are 3 points. and a clean sheet, been a long fucking time since i remember one of those.
random thoughts
tomorrow will be a laundry day, wait around for the UPS/FED EX guy day, hope my fantasy football team gets off to a good start day, who did the Yankees sign day, does this still look good to eat day.
i gave in to the hype and got Trilogy by TheWeeknd. glad i did.
totally stoked for the final 6 from The Voice. i'm good with any one of them winning.
Boardwalk Empire has really got hot with the last 2 episodes. can't wait for the season finale coming up.
welcome back Kuroda and Pettitte. may father time elude both of you AGAIN. fuck me, sign someone under 40 for a fucking change.
i think i figured out what was leaking in the fridge. and if my mother reads this, i mopped and cleaned it well. if she's not reading this, i love strong paper towels.
music today:
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main St.
Buffalo Tom - Big Red Letter Day
Audrey Rose - Smoke EP
The Lighthouse and The Whaler - Pioneers EP
Matthew Perryman Jones - Land of the Living

what a strange last 2 days
first off, this blog post is brought to you by the Sam Roberts Show Online, episode 33. a must listen as Sam gives a first hand account of going through hurricane Sandy. you can find the show on Itunes, Stitcher, and at notsam.com. click on podcast, and help Sam out if you can.
secondly, a nice FUCK YOU to Frontier Communications as my phone and internet were out for 4 hours today. you couldn't have done that before the fucking election when the GOP was calling here 7 times a fucking day?
woke up yesterday to a coyote in the lane looking for food. on the other side of our wood lot there was a roll over accident. and as i was going to out to feed the cats a medical helicopter was taking off from the field next door. not your usual start to election day, but fitting i suppose.
i did have fun today driving into town to get the mail. all the yard signs of candidates that lost. i love it. living out here with all these rednecks in the sticks. the anger and disgust on their faces today was priceless.
i did watch the last few hours of election results. my mother was worried that Romney was going to win, knowing that meant the farm was going bye bye most likely. i did my best to calm her as i explained political math and how only 10 states really decide this shit. once Ohio was called she felt some relief and went to bed. i stayed up for another few hours laughing at all these assholes on tv explaining away how they had the numbers wrong, etc. etc. fucking beautiful.
but thank fucking god the election is over. living in a battleground state fucking sucks with the constant tv ads and robo calls. enough to drive normal people to a suicidal urge. personally, i enjoy the chaos. i learned a long time ago, don't bother picking up the phone. and, when all else fails, there's always porn to watch.
i did settle down to watch Manchester United this afternoon in Champions League play. just get a draw and you advance to the round of 16. when i saw the lineup Sir Alex put out, i knew this was going to be a fruitless struggle. but, after giving up the first goal. make a few substitutions, get a well timed power outage in the stadium, and get fucking Nani off the pitch and well, well, well, a 3-1 win. RvP, Rooney, and Chicharito. not pretty, the effort sucked ass, but the result was golden. all 3 goals came in the last 10 minutes of the game. and with the result the group has been won. with 2 games to spare. that victory beer will taste good at dinner tonight.
been getting the itch to do some writing or painting here soon. the weather has been like a fucking yo-yo here. decent amount of sun but cold. hopefully it warms up the next few days and a creative spark starts a fucking fire inside me.
of course, there's enough college football and basketball and fantasy football going on to keep my brain occupied. i just like to be using more than 10% of it at all times.
welcome to the world of constant failure.
