a hot steamy mess

the internet has been running slow this morning. mom said she saw plenty of Frontier Communications trucks out and about yesterday. i'm fearing those fucking idiots fucked something up again. i suppose time will tell.

Germany's destruction of Brazil would have made those crazy ass generals in world war two proud. 7-1. 5 goals in the first 29 minutes. first time Brazil lost a non-friendly game on home soil since 1975. which means that was the first home loss of an important game for Brazil in my life. i'm still stunned with how easy Germany picked them apart and just ruthlessly took them behind the barn and pulled the trigger. and to think Brazil still has to play the third place game. they better win that one, or that country may never forgive those players. and i would have to imagine Germany is now the favorite to win the World Cup. i tell you one thing, i look at the USA loss to Germany 1-0 in a whole different light this morning.

today Argentina takes on the Netherlands. i have Argentina moving on, but that doesn't mean anything. hopefully it will be a more competitive game than yesterday. probably comes down to how well the Dutch can shackle Messi. if they allow him time and space, Argentina will be one step closer to rubbing the World Cup title in crying Brazilian faces.

the Yankees lost last night, 5-3. the offense did its normal disappearing act after the first couple of innings. and Tanaka could not find his fastball for anything. a few of them ended up in the seats. he might be hitting that mid summer wall most rookies hit. the guy they traded for is pitching tonight. hopefully he does well.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night. i love when they show some pranks. Tyrant was good as well.

had a banana bread beer out of England last night. not nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be. tasted a little like banana pudding with plenty of alcohol. and didn't produce a hot steamy mess shortly afterwards, so that's a plus.

tonight will be a busy night for me. a new episode of Big Brother. this might be the craziest cast ever. The Bridge comes back tonight. i'm beyond excited for that. and another new episode of Wilfred. the dilemma is Wilfred and The Bridge come on at the same time. another night where i really could use a DVR.

this rainy weather isn't helping my arthritis. today is supposed to be sunny and hot, which always leads to storms. i figure by the afternoon i'll be miserable.

not much damage from the storms yesterday. just some limbs down. it must have been scary enough though, as 13 of the 14 cats were in the barn when i went out to feed them. mom believes she saw the other one down in the front. no clue when that dumb ass will make it back up to the barn.

that's pretty much all for me. enjoy the game today if you happen to be watching it. maybe my lazy ass will do some artwork today. i've got an idea floating around in my head that i'd like to get down on paper. but, as with most of my art, i'll end up hating it. so it goes.

be well. be creative. be an afternoon drunk. be charming. be aloof. be the neighbor that doesn't give a shit anymore.

peace and chicken grease my enemies.

so much for doom and gloom

so i got up this morning ready for the return of the Premier League. hats off to NBC for their coverage of it. i truly love being able to see any of the matches. but the one i paid the most attention to started at 12:30. i had heard for the last week or so how Manchester United was going to fail this season, all the turmoil, lack of player signings, etc etc. so, all they do is go out at the team that finished 9th last season and win 4-1. 2 goals from RvP and 2 goals from Welbeck. Rooney played about 30 minutes and had 2 assists. it's rather obvious that he wants to be elsewhere from his body language. it is also really apparent that the club isn't going to sell him. as long as they win, i couldn't care less. a great start to the season.

the Yankees won last night in Boston 10-3. i had to laugh as Alfonso Soriano stayed hotter than hot with another HR and 4 RBI. Mark Reynolds, recently let go from the Indians, mostly because he hadn't hit a HR in 2 months, goes deep in his first at bat for the Yankees. if they can get some pitching and a few guys can stay hot over a month or so, i really think this team has a chance to make the playoffs. first time i have felt that all season. due to the stupid blackout rules, i'll only be able to follow today's game online. i figure i'll check in from time to time.

i do plan on watching some UFC tonight as i found Fox Sports 1 on DIRECTV this morning. so i have yet another sports channel to occupy my time. i also plan on watching ROH late tonight. an evening of combat.

hats off to my friend Sam Roberts, Professional Broadcaster, for the great interviews he's getting out in Los Angeles. go to his YouTube channel and check them out.

that's all for today. i have a fridge full of beer and i'm going to go enjoy a great victory.

hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start.

a little bit of everything

the power went out today. it was planned so the power company could upgrade some lines. it was supposed to be out for 1 hour. it was out for 3 minutes. you can imagine how happy i was as i was resetting all the fucking clocks in the house after that.

actually went to the grocery store today for the first time in a long time. but, it was just like the old days for me. get in and get out. i suppose i spent more time in the beer aisle than anywhere else. typical crazy guy cart: milk, beer, sunflower seeds, finch feeder, 3 bags of kitty litter, and some car cleaning supplies. i believe i have this recluse thing down now.

the Yankees tried to give away the sweep yesterday but ultimately won 9-5. they play Baltimore here in a few minutes. hopefully they have some revenge on their mind for this weekend.

critter update: i have figured out why the groundhog went missing. we now have 1 adult groundhog and 3 babies. just fucking great. also, my cat A Boy Named Sue somehow was able to hide a kitten from me for 6 months or so (i'm guessing from the size of it). needless to say i'm hoping the coyotes get busy real soon out here.

today was the start of free agency for the NHL. the New York Rangers made 2 minor moves. i was hoping they were going to get their restricted free agents signed today, but so far nothing on that front. there were a few surprises and a bunch of bad contracts. thankfully, the Rangers haven't made that mistake (yet).

i did watch that Philly Jam the Roots put on last night in Philadelphia. that was really good. a pretty diverse group of musicians.

i have to figure out what i'm eating for dinner tonight and what i'm going to watch if the Yankees start pissing me off. the beauty of DIRECTV i have found, i can usually find something.

i have a feeling this may end up being one of my infamous late night writing or painting sessions that end with a shower at 4 in the morning. if that happens, i will try to share the details sometime tomorrow.

my mother and sister made it down to South Carolina without any problems and seem to be having some fun. hopefully they bring me back something nice.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

also, i hope you enjoy the 2 podcasts i added to the right side of the page...

i love it when a plan comes together

so i woke up this morning feeling a little bit better, not much though. fed the cats, took a shower and managed to not get sick, so i guess the stomach bug had passed.

mom wanted to go to Waffle House for mother's day. not exactly my first choice, but my sister loves it and is paying so i don't have much say in the matter. i didn't eat much, just wanted enough to be able to get me through the day without spending hours on the toilet.

got home in time to see all of the Manchester United match. it was very nice to see them win 2-1 with of all people, Rio getting the game winner. it was like his first fucking goal in i think 5 years. and then to watch Sir Alex speak and celebrate another trophy with the boys, water works on my end. there will never be another. next season will be a weird one to say the least.

that game and post game festivities went right into the Yankee game for me. the Yankees got great pitching the last 2 days and ended up sweeping the Royals. and holy shit, the Yankees are in first by themselves in the AL East. funny how the more things change the more they stay the same.

that game went right into game 6 for the New York Rangers. a gutsy, skin of their teeth 1-0 win over Washington. game 7 is tomorrow night back in the nation's capital. i guess all my Monday shows are going to get the cold shoulder from me. highlights below:

so that made 3 victory beers today. i really don't drink as much as i used to as i can still feel a little headache from the third one, and that was about 4 hours ago.

i need to get some sleep. the Yankees play a doubleheader in Cleveland tomorrow and i really need to get the grass cut as well. decisions, decisions.

i suppose it depends on how my sleeping goes. i really want to have a good vibe going into game 7 tomorrow. i don't want to have any reason to blame myself for a loss. and yes, i'm a weirdo like that.

and for some reason i now have a LinkedIn profile. not that i really plan on using it much.

amid oncoming storms

you know, it never fails. whenever i want something to happen, all i need to do is start doing something else and then... case in point. back oh so many years ago, when i had a girlfriend, if i wanted her to call all i had to do was go take a shit or a shower and sure enough the phone would ring. back to today.

i was watching Manchester United this morning and the game was boring as hell. so, i decided to go into to town before it got really hot, get the mail, maybe a little breakfast and come back. as i was driving down my bumpy ass lane to the road, i laughed and said to myself, you know when you get home Man U will be winning 1-0. and sure enough, i get back and they are up 1-0, 5 minutes left in the match. nice goal from Kagawa by the way. i'm reserving judgement on the team until i see all the pieces in place.

a big fucking thank you to Jayson Nix for his bases loaded double to help the Yankees pull out a win in Seattle, 5-2. my constant bitching and moaning but the inability to do the small, fundamental shit was answered by that double in the gap. win the series and come back home to face the Red Sox. hopefully whipping their asses will get the stench of a horrible road trip out of sight for a while.

had my first taste of the Cherry Wheat beer from Sam Adams this evening. Holy Shit that was good.

had a good laugh watching Chelsea lose to the MLS All-Stars 3-2. i believe the last 2 times Manchester United played in that game Man U won by a combined 10-0. i will sleep with a smile on my face this evening.

if you don't see a post from me tomorrow, chances are the storms they say are coming has knocked out the power. or, i'm too busy masturbating. or writing, whatever you choose to call what i do.
