nothing like a rainy start to the weekend

today was one of those days where mom pissed me off about 30 minutes or so after i woke up. i simply love some passive aggressive bullshit before i've even taken a shit. but, when she accused me of only hearing what i want to hear so i can make fun of her, that truly pissed me off. here i am 40 years old and i'm dealing with high school like drama. of course, she told me this morning that she was up at 3:30 in the morning and has been up since. now it all makes sense. 40 years of having a woman take her shit out on me without any warning, until after i'm supposed to feel like shit. so, as usual, this has me wondering how much guilt she would have if i happen to kill myself. good times. the plan now is whenever or better yet, if, she gets a new car and the one with 200,000 miles on it gets put in my name, sell off as much shit as i can and just leave. sure, i'll end up dead in New Mexico somewhere, but that would be better than the constant pain and the never ending voice in the back of my head, constantly reminding me that my mother never did shit when i told her that i was molested by my cousin. that's always a fun one to pop into your head when you're telling your mother i love you too.

so, there's a little glimpse of my life. be thankful you aren't me.

the New York Yankees won last night, 4-1 out in Oakland. i guess Girardi wasn't shitting, any fucking chance he can use the big 3 in the bullpen, he will. even when your starter has pitched 6 innings on 61 pitches. but, that's two wins in a row. hopefully they can keep it going tonight.

WWE Smackdown was really good last night. the show ended in complete fucking chaos, which should be a could precursor for the pay per view this weekend, Extreme Rules.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking funny last night.

i did watch some of Cleveland vs. Toronto last night. i will be shocked if the Cavs don't make it to the Finals 12-0.

i did watch a little bit of San Jose vs. St. Louis last night. it looks like San Jose has got the hot goalie, which could mean doom for the Blues. San Jose is up 2-1 now.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight so i'll probably be flipping between baseball, hockey and whatever the fuck else i can find.

the rain has started, so there's also a good chance i just stay in my room, listen to music and see just how depressed i can get.

amazingly, mom and i did go out to lunch today. that was fucking awkward. she tried to make small talk and i basically just went silent for most of it. i stared out the windows, acting like i was thinking of poems. after that, we went to the grocery store. my lunch was better than i expected, so i was in a better mood at the grocery store. but, the rain was getting closer, so i more or less had pain every step i would take in the store. that's fun. at least i got us back home before the damn rain started.

i will be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Final. hopefully, i will be drunk and happy to be celebrating a big win for the first time since Sir Alex left the club.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. call if you need bail money or would like to mail me drugs.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

another forgettable Sunday

probably the most productive thing i did yesterday was figure out what i was going to get my mother and sister for Christmas. the interview with Sir Alex Ferguson that NBCSN ran yesterday was a decent way to spend 60 minutes. other than that, between fantasy sports and pro wrestling, it was yet another night i'd love to forget.

i somehow managed to lose in fantasy hockey once again. i don't think i have been in last place in a division in hockey EVER. so this is humbling but even more, fucking frustrating. as for fantasy football, it's a really simple rule. if you don't score touchdowns, you don't win. i knew i was in for a shit day when i had two starting running backs leave with injuries in the first quarter of their games yesterday. and my game picks were even worse. this is turning into a month i'd love to fucking forget.

then there was Survivor Series. i had high hopes and sadly, was disappointed for the most part. i had no problem with Roman Reigns facing Dean Ambrose in the finals of the title tournament. when it got closer to the finish and it was painfully obvious neither one was going to turn heel, you could see the Sheamus cash in coming a mile away. the only match that i really enjoyed was Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose. i'm hoping this will be a Monday Night Raw that atones for a shitty ppv, but i doubt it.

thankfully, the Sunday night shows were excellent. Homeland had a great ending that had you on the edge of your seat. The Affair showed what i would probably be like if i was a flavor of the month author. and Last Week Tonight had a great end to the year.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

as is suddenly becoming the normal with this fucking blog, if you'd like to see all the videos i wanted to have in this thing, check out my Google+ page.

it was nice to open an email this morning and see FREE music from Foo Fighters. quite honestly, the EP is really good. go to http://www.saintceciliaep.com/ to get the music.

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Gotham.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Nashville.

i'm not sure if i'm taking mom to the doctor tomorrow or not. if i am, i will try to get a blog out in the morning. if not, it will be later in the evening.

today has been one of those days where the sun is out but it is cold. and we're slowly finding out that these windows are shit. so much for my computer getting fixed anytime soon.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. if not, there are still plenty of days to drink it all away.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

happy end of 2014

my home phone line is still fucked up. anytime anyone calls, the internet goes out. those assholes at Frontier Communications said it would be fixed yesterday. today of course, they said it would be fixed by 5 pm. i can't wait to hear what time it will be fixed tomorrow. just another reason to get off the fucking farm.

the Dayton Flyers played another great game last night, other than the last few minutes where they got tighter than a nun's asshole. Dayton beat Ole Miss 78-74 last night. that should be a win that helps them come March. they go into A10 play at 10-2. 20 wins should be a given this season now. here are some highlights from last night:

pro wrestler Chris Hero was at the Dayton game last night. second time in a week i've seen him there. i damn near wore the shirt of his i have to the game, but i figured there was no way he would be there again. mom tried to get a few pictures of him. of course, she said she was going to email them to me so i could post them on here. as you can see, that didn't happen.

we did go to Waffle House after the game. it was pretty uneventful other than the police officer who came in and was obviously trolling for pussy. that certainly made me laugh and i'll probably have a poem about that soon.

speaking of poems, i did send one poem out late last night. a guy contacted me on LinkedIn and wanted me to send him some work. he requested rhyming poems, which i laughed at, as i haven't written one of those in over 20 fucking years. he then told me to send him anything, which i did. i'll pass on the verdict when i hear back from him. i do like the concept he has for this site/zine. here is a link to it www.newpoetry.net.

it was another cold as fuck morning. the furnace blew at the house my mom is renting out in the next town over. if it isn't one thing, it's another. the one cat out here who refuses to shit in the litter box in the outside building we have it in, left me a huge gift on the plywood floor today. i always love frozen shit that you need a shovel for. good times.

i had another morning on iTunes. i'm trying to find a song they played at the game last night. of course, i wasn't able to find it. you'll see my random thoughts in the songs i got.

i'm looking forward to the USA vs. Canada game at the 2015 World Juniors today. it's for first place in the group. the winner of this game will have the best chance to play for the championship. it should be a good one.

tonight, the New York Rangers play down in Florida against the Panthers. i'd love to see them finish 2014 with a win.

i'll probably go easy with the drinking tonight as Manchester United plays at 7 in the morning here.

i do hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. if you are drinking, be safe. if you are driving, look out for the drunks.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

i'll be on here sometime tomorrow to welcome in 2015. maybe with a smile on my face or perhaps a shit eatin' grin.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

just another day in the 937

i just love waking up before the crack of dawn and watch Manchester United lose. just fucking great. i did figure this would be one of the tougher games of the pre-season tour. they played a side that is in mid-season form and it showed in the second half. a 3-2 loss. second loss of the tour. i'm sure a good number of fans are jumping off bridges. they tend to forget the number of times the team struggled in the pre-season under Sir Alex. that being said, i do hope Moyes gets some fresh blood on the team soon. they need it badly.

it was a pretty dense fog this morning. and the sun burned that off and has created quite the weather show this afternoon. a blazing sun to hail and thunder to more blazing sun. felt bad for the tree trimmers the power company sent out here. the hail came as they were trimming back some branches.

i didn't watch much of the Yankees last night and apparently i didn't miss much. they only had 3 hits in yet another loss. and then the news this morning that they are on the verge of bringing back Alfonso Soriano. sure, why not. he's 37 and on the downside of his career. he'll fit in great with all the other retreads on the team. part of me wishes they would tank the season and blow up the team. the other part of me wishes The Boss was still alive and running the show. this shit wouldn't have happened like this this season.

Monday Night Raw was excellent once again. when you have a final hour dominated by CM Punk and Daniel Bryan you can't go wrong. always funny to see guys wrestling against each other in 2013 (Bryan vs. Cesaro) when you can remember the same match around 2004 in ROH (Danielson vs. Castagnoli). i give the WWE credit though, make the last hour great and you tend to forget if you were bored or not in the first two hours.

i figure tonight i will give my usual glance to the Yankees until they piss me off and then i'll turn to Deadliest Catch for the rest of the evening.

i did a little shopping on Amazon.com today. the usual mix of music that should never go together: metal, techno and folk. but always nice when you can get 12 CD's at around $7 each.

for those of you keeping score, out of the 16 poems i sent out on July 7th, 8 of them have been accepted and/or published. i tend to look at these stats like a baseball batting average. and anytime i can bat .500 i know i'm doing pretty damn good.

that's all for today. i figure i better sign off before the internet goes out AGAIN.

trying my best to escape the heat

the heat index is supposed to be in the low 90's today. so much for spring. i actually turned on the air conditioning last night when the house was damn near 80 degrees and outside was like 74. hopefully the cats are smart enough to drink the water and enjoy the shade.

the Yankees got rained out yesterday, so that opened up my schedule a bit. they start a series in Baltimore tonight. the rain out allowed them to change around their pitching for the series. hopefully it works.

Manchester United played a very exciting (if you enjoy 10 goals being scored) match yesterday against West Brom. a 5-5 draw. i would have loved the game if a late winner would have come in Fergie time. that would have been a great way to go out. but alas, the greatest manager in the history of sports steps aside. so now the silly season can begin. i will be interested to see who David Moyes targets to be on the team next season. hopefully it's mostly midfielders and defenders. if those spots get better quickly, i don't think Moyes has to worry about letting the fans down anytime soon.

the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them yesterday in a 5-2 loss to go down 2-0 to Boston. how a 2-2 game became me being completely fucking silent by the end of it was miserable to say the least. as much as i hope the MSG crowd gets them going, the cynic in me is winning. game 3 is a MUST WIN game to say the least.

i did enjoy Nurse Jackie and Veep last night. i'm trying to give Family Tree a chance but i found myself watching tornado news instead. not a good sign.

my writing session went pretty good last night. i wrote 5 poems. first time writing in almost a month. i typed them up earlier this afternoon and really believe i have a few gems in the mix now. i will try to get a few submissions out later this week.

judging from the reports i read last night and this morning, i guess i will be paying a little more attention to Monday Night Raw this evening. i'm really happy that The Shield all have titles now. definitely a step in the right direction. now, get a healthy CM Punk back and you'll have my undivided attention.

The Voice is back on tonight. i'm sure my mom will have it on in the other room. so, i will get to work on my hearing tonight. if something excites the ears, i'll flip to it. if not, looks like i'll be watching YouTube in the morning.

i'll spend the rest of my time trying to escape the heat. and it's not even the hell months out here on the farm. i've got floors to sweep, toilets to clean, and a cooling shower to take. i might even figure out what poems are going where. all depends on how long this impending nap lasts.

the start of a long day

today is going to be a long one for me. shit to do all day long. i've got my 5 hours of sleep. no rest for the wicked.

the Yankees got some great pitching yesterday and rediscovered the home run, winning 7-2. they go for the sweep later today. i'll try to sneak a peek from time to time.

i fell asleep and completely missed the horse race. no triple crown yet again.

i caught most of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night. i think Alex Lifeson might have given the best speech i have heard in my life. seek it out on YouTube and enjoy.

Saturday Night Live last night was great. the sendoffs for Bill Hader and Fred Armisen were just about perfect. hell, i even enjoyed the performances by Kanye.

finished up the night with a little ROH. i almost forgot how much i enjoy Steve Corino, especially providing color commentary. plus, watching Kevin Steen and Adam Cole wrestle never gets old.

today marks the final match for Sir Alex Ferguson as the manager of Manchester United. it will be his 1,500th game in charge. remarkable. i really hope the lads play great for him. it wouldn't be right any other way.

right from that is the Yankees game and after a few innings i will be switching over to watch the New York Rangers. this is a damn near must WIN game for them. i don't think they can get down 2-0 to Boston and come back to win it. a split would be just what the doctor ordered. my fingers are crossed.

somewhere i need to fit in the cats, the trash, eating, a nap, and whatever else needs to get done today.

the usual Sunday night shows and then hopefully something more than a few hours of sleep. all depends on how the writing session goes and if there are any late-night phone calls.

hope everyone is doing good. later.

i love it when a plan comes together

so i woke up this morning feeling a little bit better, not much though. fed the cats, took a shower and managed to not get sick, so i guess the stomach bug had passed.

mom wanted to go to Waffle House for mother's day. not exactly my first choice, but my sister loves it and is paying so i don't have much say in the matter. i didn't eat much, just wanted enough to be able to get me through the day without spending hours on the toilet.

got home in time to see all of the Manchester United match. it was very nice to see them win 2-1 with of all people, Rio getting the game winner. it was like his first fucking goal in i think 5 years. and then to watch Sir Alex speak and celebrate another trophy with the boys, water works on my end. there will never be another. next season will be a weird one to say the least.

that game and post game festivities went right into the Yankee game for me. the Yankees got great pitching the last 2 days and ended up sweeping the Royals. and holy shit, the Yankees are in first by themselves in the AL East. funny how the more things change the more they stay the same.

that game went right into game 6 for the New York Rangers. a gutsy, skin of their teeth 1-0 win over Washington. game 7 is tomorrow night back in the nation's capital. i guess all my Monday shows are going to get the cold shoulder from me. highlights below:

so that made 3 victory beers today. i really don't drink as much as i used to as i can still feel a little headache from the third one, and that was about 4 hours ago.

i need to get some sleep. the Yankees play a doubleheader in Cleveland tomorrow and i really need to get the grass cut as well. decisions, decisions.

i suppose it depends on how my sleeping goes. i really want to have a good vibe going into game 7 tomorrow. i don't want to have any reason to blame myself for a loss. and yes, i'm a weirdo like that.

and for some reason i now have a LinkedIn profile. not that i really plan on using it much.

welcome to the weak end

so i have spent a good portion of today on the toilet. not sure if it was something i ate, misdoings in a previous life, or the changing of the weather that has me feeling like shit. just how i wanted to spend mother's day weekend.

as my sister and mother were out running around earlier today, i watched the FA Cup final. i did feel a bit better when i watched Wigan upset Manchester City. always nice to watch those fuckers lose.

the New York Rangers lost another heart breaker last night, 2-1 in overtime. i don't know if that result made me physically ill, but i wouldn't doubt if it did. a crushing loss. game 6 tomorrow afternoon. do or die. i have no clue if the team has what it takes to force a game 7. i'd like to think they do. but i don't know.

the Yankees offense came to life last night in a 11-6 win over the Royals. would have liked to seen some better pitching but i'll definitely take the runs. and it would really be nice to sew up another series win with a win later tonight. i'd really like to see Andy Pettitte pitch better tonight or i think the end may be staring him right in the face.

tomorrow will be an emotional one for me. Sir Alex Ferguson's last home match. and the rumor now is that Paul Scholes will announce his retirement (AGAIN) after the match. on top of all that, they finally get the trophy for winning the Premier League. i really hope i'm feeling much better by tomorrow morning. i'll be kicking myself endlessly if i miss anything.

i got the mp3 player i got a few weeks ago finally loaded with some songs. nothing like being the old guy who is a little slow figuring out this technology shit. thank god my sister is a genius when it comes to that shit.

well, my mom and sister brought me back some food from where they ate this afternoon. so far so good with being able to keep it in me. some of the best ribs i've had in a long time.

i plan on watching Saturday Night Live tonight. whether i make it all the way through or not, that's a different story. Kristen Wiig is hosting and i have always enjoyed her. so i think i will make it to the end. and hopefully catch a little ROH as well.

and if none of that happens, i'll be in bed by 10 trying to sweat out whatever demon crawled inside me.

my new YouTube video "what is rain" can be seen on the right hand side of this blog. check it out. would love to know what you think of it. and also, go get yourself a copy of Sofisticated White Trash today. follow the links on the right hand side of the blog and take advantage of the discount while you still can.

the day after

this blog post is brought to you by episode #54 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find this podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, and by going to notsam.com. and if you listen to the entire episode you'll understand why i'm in a pretty damn good mood right now.

Manchester United didn't waste any time in hiring David Moyes as their new manager. he starts July 1. seeing that he is the hand picked successor by Sir Alex himself, i totally support this move. hopefully given the much better resources, David will be able to keep the club at its current heights. and i really wouldn't mind if his first major trophies are under United. it should make for an interesting summer to say the least.

the Yankees had a nice 3-2 win last night, albeit with a little umpire help. never thought i'd see Vernon Wells playing third base, but, i never thought i'd see a team with so many damn injuries either. they can get the series win a little later today. in about a half hour actually. i guess i need to type faster.

the New York Rangers had a HUGE win last night, 4-3. series now tied 2-2. back to Washington on Friday. game highlights below:

i did watch all of The Voice last night. i was a little disappointed with Blake keeping the brothers. also, i shouldn't expect much from Usher seeing that he unleashed Bieber on the world, so it makes perfect sense he would keep a male model. team Adam is by far the best team. not sure if that means one of them will win though. Blake has some of the most loyal fans in the world.

i did my best today to be a productive human being. i went to the post office early to mail off 2 books. the trouble with going early is dealing with elderly drivers and all the farm equipment. not exactly the best combination to deal with when you want to get somewhere in a hurry. also have my last load of laundry in the dryer. i even have plans to do some dishes while the Yankee game is on. and with no must see sports with teams on tonight, i might actually check out what normal people watch on a Thursday. at least for 30 minutes or so.

even forever has an expiration date

i had heard the rumors. but, i've been hearing the rumors for the last decade. but these rumors were coming from sources that i have always held in the highest regard. so, i was not shocked at all when i woke up this morning to see that the Sir Alex Ferguson retirement news was made official. a little teary eyed and gutted but not shocked. he's the only manager i have known in all my years of being a Manchester United fan. i feel sorry for whomever has to replace him.

the rain last night has prevented me from mowing today. and seeing that it's supposed to rain on and off for the next 4 days, i might as well get ready to basically cut the grass twice when it gets dry enough to mow.

the Yankees stunk once again last night. 4 damn hits. hard to win anything with only 4 singles. they play again tonight but i doubt i will be watching much of it.

i did catch just about all of The Voice last night. both teams from Shakira and Blake are excellent. this is easily the most talent they have had out of all the seasons so far. the first eliminations are tonight. i know who i want gone, no one from team Adam, no one from team Blake, no one from team Shakira, and everyone but Michelle from team Usher. sadly, it won't work out that way.

the New York Rangers play a HUGE game 4 tonight at home. this is a MUST WIN game, not only to get the series back to 2-2, but to put a little doubt in the heads of Washington. the 6 times they have gone up 2-0 in a series, they have lost 4 of them. i'm all for making it 5. that can happen if they win tonight. i'm hearing Clowe might make his return tonight. god willing.

hope everyone has a great day. mine has been a bit more reflective than i wished.

what a strange last 2 days

first off, this blog post is brought to you by the Sam Roberts Show Online, episode 33. a must listen as Sam gives a first hand account of going through hurricane Sandy. you can find the show on Itunes, Stitcher, and at notsam.com. click on podcast, and help Sam out if you can.

secondly, a nice FUCK YOU to Frontier Communications as my phone and internet were out for 4 hours today. you couldn't have done that before the fucking election when the GOP was calling here 7 times a fucking day?

woke up yesterday to a coyote in the lane looking for food. on the other side of our wood lot there was a roll over accident. and as i was going to out to feed the cats a medical helicopter was taking off from the field next door. not your usual start to election day, but fitting i suppose.

i did have fun today driving into town to get the mail. all the yard signs of candidates that lost. i love it. living out here with all these rednecks in the sticks. the anger and disgust on their faces today was priceless.

i did watch the last few hours of election results. my mother was worried that Romney was going to win, knowing that meant the farm was going bye bye most likely. i did my best to calm her as i explained political math and how only 10 states really decide this shit. once Ohio was called she felt some relief and went to bed. i stayed up for another few hours laughing at all these assholes on tv explaining away how they had the numbers wrong, etc. etc. fucking beautiful.

but thank fucking god the election is over. living in a battleground state fucking sucks with the constant tv ads and robo calls. enough to drive normal people to a suicidal urge. personally, i enjoy the chaos. i learned a long time ago, don't bother picking up the phone. and, when all else fails, there's always porn to watch.

i did settle down to watch Manchester United this afternoon in Champions League play. just get a draw and you advance to the round of 16. when i saw the lineup Sir Alex put out, i knew this was going to be a fruitless struggle. but, after giving up the first goal. make a few substitutions, get a well timed power outage in the stadium, and get fucking Nani off the pitch and well, well, well, a 3-1 win. RvP, Rooney, and Chicharito. not pretty, the effort sucked ass, but the result was golden. all 3 goals came in the last 10 minutes of the game. and with the result the group has been won. with 2 games to spare. that victory beer will taste good at dinner tonight.

been getting the itch to do some writing or painting here soon. the weather has been like a fucking yo-yo here. decent amount of sun but cold. hopefully it warms up the next few days and a creative spark starts a fucking fire inside me.

of course, there's enough college football and basketball and fantasy football going on to keep my brain occupied. i just like to be using more than 10% of it at all times.

welcome to the world of constant failure.

a foggy, rainy day

i suppose this is a great day to be a duck. no sun, off and on rain, fog, just a fucking blah day. so i settled down to watch Manchester United and hopefully see something good. 15 minutes in and i'm sitting in a ah, fuck me, why do i bother type of stance in my chair. really, i was just hoping for something. thankfully, it was another wake-up call. Rooney and RvP to the rescue. 1 lucky goal and another that was pure fucking brilliance from both of them. the best thing that came today other than the 3 points was Sir Alex may have found the replacement for Scholes. and that man is none other than Wayne Rooney. He was fucking great today. i'm hoping they play him in that role for the rest of the season so both he and RvP can play together all the time. notice i didn't bitch about the defense. it sucks. but, nothing will get better until the injured can come back. so, it's all about winning ugly and knowing the shit goal is going to happen. i hate it, but that's not going to change a fucking thing. i believe some people call that maturing. i call it blood pressure.

could be a good night for the Yankees. repeat the drubbing of Boston from last night and hopefully Baltimore slips up again and hello division title. i don't think the playoff mess will be decided until the last night of the season. and welcome back to Tex. please, stop getting injured.

nothing much else going on. always love when it's raining and the crops haven't been taken off. just piling on shit after a summer of fuck. hello insurance claim.

i highly recommend the 3 EP's that are listed in the music today section below. you can find all 3 of them at noisetrade.com.

a lovely Saturday

woke up with no back pain. a true holy shit moment. fed the cats and realize i'm going to struggle to come up with names if all of these little fuckers make it through the winter. had a little breakfast and turned on Manchester United.

after a first half of missed chances, hello second half explosion. 4 goals. 2 from the new kids that were both spectacular. a lovely win while resting a few key pieces for the upcoming Champions League match. after now seeing 4 of the 5 signings from the silly season, i do believe Sir Alex has struck gold again. this may be a fun ride after all.

next, Ohio State. the college football team i've rooted for since birth. watching these entitled pricks play can be fucking frustrating as hell at times. but, they pulled out a win over Cal. hopefully, Urban Meyer can whip these fuckers into shape and start destroying teams in the near future.

then, although i didn't get to watch the game, the Yankees. judging from the highlights i've seen after the game, a nice win from the boys. actually got 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! hits with runners in scoring position. quite the fucking concept there. decent pitching and a little tack on baseball. you'd be amazed at how often over the last 200 years that has worked. at least a share of first place for another day. maybe they can win 2 games in a row twice in a week for a change.

needless to say, i'm in a good mood. i'll chill out for the rest of the evening with some more football, Saturday Night Live's season premiere and, if i'm still awake, some Ring Of Honor before i get a quick sleep in. plenty of work to do in the morning for my 3 fantasy football games.

on a poetry note, my book is coming along. barring any setbacks, Sofisticated White Trash, should see the light of day soon.

when the dew point is higher than the actual temperature

it's so ungodly sticky today. reminds me of my only trip to Florida as a child. was at a Days Inn in the Orlando area where one half of the hotel was in a thunderstorm and the other half was in the sun. we haven't got nearly as much rain as i would have loved to... but the holiday weekend is still young.

woke up this morning with my back in the normal pain for shitty weather. the pain in my left leg i couldn't figure out. given my past history with blood clots, there's always that haunting feeling in the back of my head. i did some stretching on my left hip and that seemed to do the trick. i figure given my luck, 36 and here comes arthritis. of course, the fun didn't really start until i was going out to feed the cats and the water jug i take out with me fell as i was changing my shoes and broke. water all over the mud room. just what i fucking need.

after breakfast watched Manchester United play. of course they didn't score first, but RvP comes to the rescue again. and of course they give up the next goal 10 minutes into the second half. now, i learned a lesson long ago watching Eric Cantona play that the magic always comes, but it will test your will to live until it does. so after RvP misses a pk (too cheeky for my liking) Sir Alex stands up, points at the watch and gives the look. and holy shit, for the millionth time i guess, here come the late goals. RvP with a garbage one and then the sweet header in extra time for a 3-2 win. 4 goals in 3 games. i guess the money was well spent.

so, while enjoying the post victory beer, i turn on the Yankees. they get off to a quick lead but given how this season has gone, that doesn't mean shit. Phil Hughes gives up a home run, but they get that run back the next inning. why Hughes was allowed to pitch to the same guy that homered off of him with runners on base is fucking beyond me. of course he hits a 3 run homer. and after the Yankees needed 5 fucking pitchers to get 3 outs in an inning, i turned away in disgust. what a fucking waste. now they have 7 games in a row on the road against the 2 teams on their heels. if they still have the division lead a week from now i'll be stunned.

thankfully, during the Yankee debacle it was another CR7 & Messi Sunday. a total treat to watch 2 of the greatest talents in the world put on another show. CR7 had 2 goals for Real Madrid. Messi was in passing mode but his teammates didn't have the precision dialed up today. Barcelona still won but it was bowling shoe ugly at times. of course, that is the blueprint against them if you want to have a chance.

tonight, i'm hoping it will rain to break the death grip humidity going on. but not hard enough to fuck with my DIRECTV signal. if it does, i guess i'll be working on my 3 fantasy football teams. i know 2 of them are good right from the start. i've already been offered trades. hopefully it's more than just wishful thinking on paper this year.

all is right in the world... for a few hours at least

after watching the first quarter of the Ohio State football game i had the 'fuck me' feeling going inside me. and then the offense came to life, as did the defense, special teams and the stadium. watching them win 56-10 over the school my mom and sister both graduated from was nice. not earth shattering mind you, but after last year's shit storm, it was beautiful to watch.

and speaking of beautiful, the Yankees actually bothered to show a backbone today and give a shit. came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. a much needed win, let alone a one run win. pushes the lead back out to 3 games. hopefully they will win tomorrow as well.

the remnants of the hurricane have finally arrived. i'm hoping for about 4 or 5 inches of rain over the next 3 days. we need it so badly. i figure with the luck we've had this year, we'll get drizzle and nothing else. if we don't get some rain soon it will take a blizzard this winter to get the numbers back in line for the crops next year. and living in a home 1/4 mile off the road and a blizzard don't exactly go together. i remember being snowed in here for a week before. i was down to a slice of cheese, a can of green beans and 3 cigarettes. ah, memories...

i'll be bouncing between college football games tonight, hoping none go real late. Manchester United plays in the morning. Sir Alex's 1,000th game. and with some defenders back, maybe they won't fuck it up for him.

and then it rained...

Had a nice storm roll through this afternoon. It actually might have rained for about 20 minutes or so. Only a minor leak in the kitchen this time. Cooled the temperature down to the 70's as well. Hopefully there will be more to come.

The Yankees had a nice rain shortened win over the Blue Jays 6-0. A good way to end a very nice home stand. Good pitching, timely hitting and let mother nature take care of the rest. This team is starting to make me think of the glory days. Can't wait until they actually get healthy. Last west coast swing of the season is up next. More late nights for me.

Happy to see Manchester United get their tour off to a good start. Still waiting to see if Sir Alex has any more tricks up his sleeve regarding transfers. I'm hoping he does. The back line still needs a little help.

Typed up 3 poems today. The last one is probably the best of the bunch. Might be found next to my body in case suicide ever becomes the only option left for me. It's that good.

In other bizarre news, a first for me. Had a friend actually hang up on me (not that rare) and then call back 3 minutes later to apologize. I don't believe that has ever happened to me before. What an odd life.

monday morning in the rain

even the rain can't dampen my joy of the Yankees sweeping the Mets on a walk off home run. always nice to stick it to those fuckers.

watched the conclusion of the French Open this morning. really wish it wouldn't have rained in Paris yesterday. nothing against Nadal or anything, just think it would have been a better match without the rain delays.

the holy war of France vs. England starts off EURO 2012 today. i'll be paying close attention since the coach of France is rumored to be the next coach of Manchester United whenever Sir Alex comes down from the mountain.

wrote 3 poems last night. might be a few keepers in the batch. i'll have a better sense when i type them up. sometime today i imagine.

a very happy birthday to the longest crush of my life. damn near a quarter century now. hope you have a great day.
