so, as i was driving my truck to the mechanic today (new tires, oil change, etc) my left arm started to throb beyond belief. of course, i had no pain pills on me, so i did the next best thing. turned the radio up loud and stomped on the fucking gas. needless to say, i left my mother in the dust. i was a little surprised that my truck could still get up to 60 mph and not start to fall apart.
had a nice oh shit moment last night. the local fire department was doing a controlled burn/practice scenario on the road behind us. of course, they never bothered to inform the public of this. so, you can imagine my thoughts when i look out the window and see a huge fucking fire less than a mile away from the farm. with the damn wind blowing. they appreciated the phone call but said they had everything under control.
Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. can't go wrong with CM Punk getting fucked over as this will only make him more bitter (which actually makes him better) and seeing Daniel Bryan on top of a steel cage to end the show was classic. i guess he could only stomach the Wyatt Family for a couple of weeks. i'm the same way with my family.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Tampa. i'm hoping the game is good enough to keep my mind off of the pain.
i'll be upping my sleeping pills tonight in hopes that i get more than 4 hours of sleep. and i will make sure to take them long after a hopeful victory beer this evening.
spent a little time on Noise Trade today getting some new music. you'll see that down below. i'll provide some links.
that's pretty much all for now. my mother leaves in the morning for a few days at a conference in Cincinnati. i'll have her vehicle if i need to get around. i imagine that will all depend on how well i'm managing the pain. i'd really love for all of this to go away by the weekend. that's when we're celebrating my birthday. of course, knowing my luck, i'll finally go to a doctor and be in a hospital by the weekend. good times.
hope this finds everyone well. peace.

what a strange last 2 days
first off, this blog post is brought to you by the Sam Roberts Show Online, episode 33. a must listen as Sam gives a first hand account of going through hurricane Sandy. you can find the show on Itunes, Stitcher, and at notsam.com. click on podcast, and help Sam out if you can.
secondly, a nice FUCK YOU to Frontier Communications as my phone and internet were out for 4 hours today. you couldn't have done that before the fucking election when the GOP was calling here 7 times a fucking day?
woke up yesterday to a coyote in the lane looking for food. on the other side of our wood lot there was a roll over accident. and as i was going to out to feed the cats a medical helicopter was taking off from the field next door. not your usual start to election day, but fitting i suppose.
i did have fun today driving into town to get the mail. all the yard signs of candidates that lost. i love it. living out here with all these rednecks in the sticks. the anger and disgust on their faces today was priceless.
i did watch the last few hours of election results. my mother was worried that Romney was going to win, knowing that meant the farm was going bye bye most likely. i did my best to calm her as i explained political math and how only 10 states really decide this shit. once Ohio was called she felt some relief and went to bed. i stayed up for another few hours laughing at all these assholes on tv explaining away how they had the numbers wrong, etc. etc. fucking beautiful.
but thank fucking god the election is over. living in a battleground state fucking sucks with the constant tv ads and robo calls. enough to drive normal people to a suicidal urge. personally, i enjoy the chaos. i learned a long time ago, don't bother picking up the phone. and, when all else fails, there's always porn to watch.
i did settle down to watch Manchester United this afternoon in Champions League play. just get a draw and you advance to the round of 16. when i saw the lineup Sir Alex put out, i knew this was going to be a fruitless struggle. but, after giving up the first goal. make a few substitutions, get a well timed power outage in the stadium, and get fucking Nani off the pitch and well, well, well, a 3-1 win. RvP, Rooney, and Chicharito. not pretty, the effort sucked ass, but the result was golden. all 3 goals came in the last 10 minutes of the game. and with the result the group has been won. with 2 games to spare. that victory beer will taste good at dinner tonight.
been getting the itch to do some writing or painting here soon. the weather has been like a fucking yo-yo here. decent amount of sun but cold. hopefully it warms up the next few days and a creative spark starts a fucking fire inside me.
of course, there's enough college football and basketball and fantasy football going on to keep my brain occupied. i just like to be using more than 10% of it at all times.
welcome to the world of constant failure.

what a glorious day
damn near 80 degrees.
my mother called me while i was doing the dishes and wanted to know why so and so got kicked off the University of Dayton basketball team. a rare day that i wasn't glued to the internet, so i had to call her back. a quick search and well, well, well, i guess the rape rumors i heard over the summer weren't just bullshit after all. i always love when upper middle class kids who are pretend hipsters piss away what little talent they have.
after the dishes, sat down to watch Manchester City hopefully lose to Ajax. things certainly didn't look good until the end of the first half. and other than the 20 minutes of the game i missed wiping my first shit in 2 days, what a glorious day watching Man City have their asses handed to them.
not really interested in the World Series. if i had to root for a team, i'm certainly not going to root for the team that knocked out the Yankees.
last day of good weather as, of course, the weekend is supposed to be wet and miserable. welcome back to Ohio. my sister gets home Friday from her trip. just in time for the bad weather. funny.

a happy morning
nice to see that CC understands it's always better to earn your money from the Yankees rather than just be an asshole and collect it. always nice when the big man goes 9 innings and gives the bullpen a rest before the next series, which starts tonight. hopefully the other bats that started to wake up, Ichiro, Granderson, Tex, can keep it up against Detroit. maybe a little revenge for last year. i do expect these games will have a much better chance of becoming slow pitch softball than the Baltimore series. a lot of Baltimore's players were playoff virgins. that's not the case with Detroit. anxiety has been replaced with experience. may the pitching continue to be great, may the bats come alive, and may all of Detroit's sluggers go cold.
welcome back to the US national team Eddie Johnson. a great, stunning 2 goals to save the team from disaster. now, advancing in World Cup qualifying is much closer to certain than before. and although this team frustrates the shit out of me, i'll give Jurgen Klinsmann credit for having the stones to leave Jozy off the roster and his replacement scores the 2 goals. hopefully they will take care of business next week and get the job done.
was nice to have baseball and soccer end right in time for my Friday addiction, Boss. great show, just not enough nudity this year. maybe the season finale next week will provide that fix.
a busy night tonight as the Yankees and Ohio State play at the same time. yet another night when i need that Elvis wall of televisions. i know my first purchase if i'm ever blessed with fuck you money.

Bob Dylan - Time Out Of Mind
Alyssa Sease - Lay Rest Your Soul EP

a Friday before the rain comes
this blog post is brought to you by The Sam Roberts Show Online, Episode #31. you can find the show on ITunes, Stitcher, and notsam.com. check it out and help him out if you can.
wanted to get this blog post done before the baseball playoffs start, before the rain comes, before i spend another hour on the toilet, etc. etc.
i couldn't sleep for shit last night. my back was in horrific pain and i'm not really sure if i want to know what the pain in my right leg is. but, i decided to actually get some shit done today. so, with that in mind, i actually sent out 13 poems today. the lucky ones receiving these gifts are The Camel Saloon, Carcinogenic Poetry, and Thunder Sandwich. hopefully, i will have good news to report soon.
not really surprised that the NHL are fucking up once again. in most labor spats, i side with the players. and this is no different. i love rich people who can't control themselves with spending but want others to take responsibility for it. if they don't watch it, hockey will be somewhere around lacrosse before long in this country. lose another season and us die hard fans will be the only ones left. just when the Rangers were on the cusp of the cup, fuck me.
a long weekend of sports is ahead for me. Yankees in the playoffs, Manchester United in action, NFL and all the fantasy fun and games. and who knows, maybe i sneak in a little writing on the side. depends on the pain i guess. or if the Yankees are winning or not. if you think i hate to lose in the regular season...
sad to see Bobby Valentine go so soon in Boston. wanted him to stay on for a decade and run that franchise into the ground.
hope everyone has a great weekend. peace and chicken grease.
music today:
Humble Wolf - Paper Thin
Warren Haynes Band - Live at the Moody Theater
Grant-Lee Phillips - Green Corn Songs: Live at McCabes
Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road

on the bad side, Manchester City gets a 90 minute pk from Balotelli to salvage a point in Champions League play.

music today:
The Right Now - Half As Much (Free MP3 Single)
Van Morrison - Moondance
