and sometimes i'm the bleary eyed madman...

my theory is the dumb fuck that delivered the mail today forgot to put down the flags of the people who had mail to pick up. that's why i didn't get the mail until 5 PM. and of course, i should have gone out earlier and checked, but my disgust with people kind of makes that impossible. i'm sort of in my keep your mouth shut and eyes open phase of getting to know people around here. as usual, i'm looking for a disgruntled wife or a daughter getting ready to turn 18. simply looking for a muse you sick fucks. anything else would be quite the fucking surprise on my end.

in the mail today was a response from Hiram Poetry Review on my submission from July. they decided to pass but want me to try them again. i probably would if they would have sent back the poems they rejected. instead, since i had to print them out again, HPR will be shuffled back down the list. and thankfully, i didn't send out any poems today, because the 5 that got rejected will easily find homes at other places. so that more or less will change all the submissions i had lined up. this is the joy of being a poor poet with a healthy ego.

i picked the football game right last night. most of my fantasy players did decent except for the Washington RB i started that fumbled a touchdown out of the end zone.

the New York Yankees won last night 3-2. Carlos Beltran hit a 3 run homer and the pitching held on for dear life after that. the magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 6. hopefully they lower that number tonight.

Married was excellent last night. i really enjoyed the fact that the story was about trying to do a book and the strain that can cause between friends. i suppose that is why none of my friends really live close to me.

time for some music kids. fuck it, the weekend starts now:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW.

the New York Rangers lost in a shootout last night to Boston. i was pleased that they were winning the game when The King was in. he won't come out after 40 minutes in the regular season. they play tomorrow against the Devils.

i saw that the University of Dayton hired a new Athletic Director today. i automatically felt old when the new AD is younger than i am. hopefully he can clean up this Dyshawn Pierre mess. not sure how someone gets suspended for 10 games when the police and prosecutor's office didn't bring any charges against him. and if i was the coach of the team, rest assured i'm looking for the first big time job that comes my way now after the administration rushed to judgment on my senior captain. what a fucking mess.

Manchester United plays Sunderland tomorrow morning. i will probably post a blog before then. if i don't, it will surely be before Ohio State plays in the afternoon.

i got some awesome FREE music on NoiseTrade today from one of my favorite artists, Warren Haynes. i HIGHLY recommend you check out the link below in the music section.

a quick Flashback Friday today (yes, i know i forgot it last week). the first poem of mine is "decisions". this was published in January 2013. you can find it by going here:
http://www.zygoteinmycoffee.com/100s/issue140decisions.html

next up is my poem "after a glass of scotch". this was published in August 2012. you can find that poem by going here: http://napalmandnovocain.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-poem-by-jj-campbell.html

if you enjoy those poems, feel free to share them with the world. if you think they suck, feel free to email me and tell me that. i love a good thrashing from time to time.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i believe my mother leaves on Sunday for a conference in Columbus. so i might be home alone for a few days. i see nothing but drinking and writing between checking out porn and sports.

enjoy that visual. go out and have a great weekend. enjoy it before (fill in the blank)...

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

what a glorious day

damn near 80 degrees.

my mother called me while i was doing the dishes and wanted to know why so and so got kicked off the University of Dayton basketball team. a rare day that i wasn't glued to the internet, so i had to call her back. a quick search and well, well, well, i guess the rape rumors i heard over the summer weren't just bullshit after all. i always love when upper middle class kids who are pretend hipsters piss away what little talent they have.

after the dishes, sat down to watch Manchester City hopefully lose to Ajax. things certainly didn't look good until the end of the first half. and other than the 20 minutes of the game i missed wiping my first shit in 2 days, what a glorious day watching Man City have their asses handed to them.

not really interested in the World Series. if i had to root for a team, i'm certainly not going to root for the team that knocked out the Yankees.

last day of good weather as, of course, the weekend is supposed to be wet and miserable. welcome back to Ohio. my sister gets home Friday from her trip. just in time for the bad weather. funny.

after a few midday beers

went to the red and blue game today at the University of Dayton. some quick observations, defense looks much better this year, the freshman look like they may contribute, but honestly, this team goes as far as Kevin Dillard takes it.

after that, got home to see that Manchester United won, 4-2. nice to see Wayne Rooney was feeling good enough today to score for both teams.

that didn't put me in the greatest of moods as Ohio State was losing at that time. add on that their best player was taken to the hospital and i figured this was a lost cause. cut to the touchdown with 3 seconds left and the 2 point conversion to tie it up at 22 and i was pretty much going ape shit. Ohio State wins in overtime 29-22. definitely a game they had no business winning. i love those. makes the alcohol that much better.

bought the cd of a local band tonight. check them out at http://humancannonball.bandcamp.com/.

long day of NFL games tomorrow, so i have no clue if i make it to Saturday Night Live, let alone Austin City Limits or Ring of Honor tonight. fuck, i'm getting old.

what to do now

not sure why i thought the Yankees were going to put up more of a fight than they did yesterday. i suppose all pride on the team left with Jeter's broken ankle. to say they looked lifeless since the break happened would be an understatement. now, since i really couldn't give a shit who wins the World Series, no need to think of baseball until the silly season starts.

instead of staying home and watching Manchester United tomorrow morning, i will be going down to the University of Dayton to watch the red and blue game of the college basketball team i have followed since i was an infant. they look pretty interesting on paper, i'm hoping even better in person. not that you can tell a ton from a scrimmage, but, having played the game, i don't look at what everyone else is looking for. i'm watching screens, cuts, rebounds, eye movement, off the ball moves, and communication. if you can't tell, growing up a loner put basketball pretty high up there on my priority list. one of the few sports i could do by myself and not feel like i was lonely.

i did type up the one poem i had to today. apparently the words are busy visiting others at the moment. and for the weekends, with all the sports on the television, inspiration is usually reserved for the toilet. you'd be amazed at the number of poems, really good poems, that started while i was taking a shit. that might be the next book.

best wishes to my sister and her friends on their trip to London and Paris. safe travels. buy me something good. and hopefully illegal.

as for the rest of us non-privileged folks, i wish all of us a great weekend. peace and chicken grease.
