mom is back home from her surgery. she had the skin cancer from her face removed. the cancer was right above her lip, so of course, it was a little gruesome, at least from the picture my sister sent me. but, they got most of it on the first try. mom said he missed a little spot and got that the second time. they took some skin from her collarbone to graph to reform the lip. the stitches on the lip will dissolve. i have to take her Feb. 1st to the office to get the stitches removed on her collarbone. fun times.
today would be my grandmother's 110th birthday. part of me laughs at what she would think about this fucked up world now.
the New York Rangers defeated Toronto last night, 6-3. my family knows how i get, so when the Rangers got down 2-0 last night, i turned the game off. so, i did follow the game on my phone, but i know there was enough stress in the house already. i love that Ryan Reaves had his first two goals as a Ranger last night.
I Can See Your Voice was hilarious last night.
Batwoman was excellent last night.
AEW was great last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, United States of Al and B Positive. i watched NXT UK this afternoon on Peacock. it was really good.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i turn 46 tomorrow. i don't have any plans. i'm guessing this is how the rest of my life will most likely be.
i need to go pick up some pills at Rite Aid, so that's all for me kids.
until tomorrow...

this is what my back porch looked like this morning when i woke up:
it rained for most of yesterday and then last night, it finally started to snow. the guys that mom uses to clean off our driveway were here this morning at 7 to clean it off. i haven't even thought of going outside to look for the paper. i believe it feels like -5 at the moment. joy.
the Dayton Flyers won at Saint Bonaventure yesterday, 89-86 in 2OT. i was kind of shocked Dayton won given that their point guard fouled out in the first overtime. thankfully, the players stepped up and got the win in the second overtime. of course, the team got snowed in last night in upstate New York.
the New York Rangers won again last night over Boston, 3-2. the win gives The King his 446th victory, moving him into 6th place alone on the all time list. that's 3 wins in a row for them going into the All-Star break.
Saturday Night Live was good for most of the show last night.
ROH was pretty good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be True Detective, Crashing, High Maintenance, Total Bellas, Shameless, SMILF and Black Monday.
the New Orleans Saints play today at home against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game. i hope the dome is as loud as hell today. winner goes to the Super Bowl in Atlanta.
the Patriots take on the Chiefs in the AFC Championship tonight. i really don't care who wins.
if my sister does leave today, we'll do my birthday today. if she doesn't, it will be tomorrow morning i imagine.
today would have been my grandmother's 107th birthday. tomorrow will be my 43rd.
i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.
Y los santos van marchando todo el camino.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
where i actually sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. where i live in a climate that doesn't get below 30 degrees. where i have a lovely woman by my side that actually loves the fact that i'm a poet and a dreamer. where my sports teams win more than not and my liver can easily handle any alcohol ever made.
i have a dream.
when i was a child, i enjoyed this day for the day off of school and my grandmother's birthday. since she died in 1993 and i haven't been in school since 1994, this day is more about MLK and it's the day before my birthday.
hopefully i'll be getting my truck back tomorrow. and hopefully it will be above zero degrees when i get it.
the deep freeze is coming back from the way it looks on all the weather forecasts. thankfully, the propane tank got filled today. and we got plenty of cat food over the weekend. so, knock on wood, we are prepared for it.
i got half of the Super Bowl correct. picked Denver but missed the Seattle game. hopefully the big game will be played in a blizzard.
i really enjoyed the Sunday night shows last night. True Detective and Shameless won the night for me. the other 3, Girls, House of Lies, and Episodes were their normal train wrecks. but i'm the asshole blocking traffic and watching.
the other good thing about this holiday is the afternoon professional sports. been watching some hockey and basketball while hoping to fall asleep this afternoon. i think i got 20 minutes or so watching some soccer in England.
i am looking forward to Monday Night Raw tonight. i was hoping in my birthday gifts over the weekend there was going to be tickets to it, but oh well. it's about 30 minutes away from me. i can understand my mother and sister not wanting to enable my love of pro wrestling. should be a great show tonight.
the New York Rangers continued their hot streak with a 4-1 beat down of Washington last night. they are now in second place in the division. and on my birthday, they play the fucking Islanders. needless to say, i will be in full throat for that one.
also, that Rangers victory helped give me my second straight 10-0 week in fantasy hockey. i believe i have a 22 1/2 game lead in my division. this is starting to look like my best season ever. and given the amount of injuries i've had, i'm a little surprised to say the least.
other than Raw tonight, i will be going through some poems trying to find 11 that i will be sending out tomorrow. i think i have a good number in mind, just not sure if it's 11 or not. if not, i guess i'll be doing some writing at 2 in the morning. lord knows i won't be asleep anyway.
hope everyone had a great weekend. hope it is warmer wherever you are. and why haven't you invited me to visit? be well. peace and chicken grease.

Tei Shi - Saudade
Shannon Labrie - Just Be Honest
"You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old." - George Burns
not sure why i thought the Yankees were going to put up more of a fight than they did yesterday. i suppose all pride on the team left with Jeter's broken ankle. to say they looked lifeless since the break happened would be an understatement. now, since i really couldn't give a shit who wins the World Series, no need to think of baseball until the silly season starts.
instead of staying home and watching Manchester United tomorrow morning, i will be going down to the University of Dayton to watch the red and blue game of the college basketball team i have followed since i was an infant. they look pretty interesting on paper, i'm hoping even better in person. not that you can tell a ton from a scrimmage, but, having played the game, i don't look at what everyone else is looking for. i'm watching screens, cuts, rebounds, eye movement, off the ball moves, and communication. if you can't tell, growing up a loner put basketball pretty high up there on my priority list. one of the few sports i could do by myself and not feel like i was lonely.
i did type up the one poem i had to today. apparently the words are busy visiting others at the moment. and for the weekends, with all the sports on the television, inspiration is usually reserved for the toilet. you'd be amazed at the number of poems, really good poems, that started while i was taking a shit. that might be the next book.
best wishes to my sister and her friends on their trip to London and Paris. safe travels. buy me something good. and hopefully illegal.
as for the rest of us non-privileged folks, i wish all of us a great weekend. peace and chicken grease.

Ryan Bingham - Tomorrowland
