for all my ruined childhood years...

today is the day of the only college football game that has ever truly mattered to me. Ohio State vs. that shit school up north. i can remember so many childhood years fucking ruined by a great Ohio State team losing to a team you simply are not allowed to lose to. Ohio State has won 7 years in a row. they have never won 8 in a row. so, i truly hope today is a history making one. it would be even better if an Ohio State win costs that fucking clown that runs the shit school from up north to lose his job. that would almost make up for all that shit so many years ago.

Trotwood continued its playoff run last night. they will now play for the state championship, again.

the season finale of Room 104 was excellent last night.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.

the New York Rangers pissed away a 2 goal lead yesterday and lost at Boston, 3-2 in OT. the Rangers play this afternoon at New Jersey.

the trip to the grocery store turned into a fiasco yesterday. mom decided she wanted me to go to the drugstore to get some shit there. that took up 45 minutes of my life i will never get back. thankfully, the grocery store was basically empty.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i will probably watch plenty of college football today.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

a bad back has a way of turning the sunshine to darkness...

it started raining last night and i immediately felt my back tighten up. i was hoping the alcohol was going to help me sleep, but it didn't. i might have got 3 hours of sleep last night at best. i haven't been able to loosen my back up at all. the shower didn't help. ice didn't help. walking in the two grocery stores i went to today didn't help. hell, i thought about getting in a car accident just to see if that would loosen the fucker up. pure fucking misery.

the New York Yankees won last night over the Royals, 7-2. of course, the victory had to be marred with a fucking injury. Aaron Judge got hit by a pitch last night and fractured his right wrist. that will keep him out a minimum of 3 weeks and more likely 6. that's a big loss for the Yankees, especially with Sanchez on the disabled list as well. now, with the trade deadline coming up, i wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees don't look for a bat to fill that hole for the time being.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Snowfall was really good last night.

Lip Sync Battle was good last night.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. Kaitlyn got voted out and then failed to complete this easy ass puzzle to stay in the house. i laughed my ass off as she was being evicted. i believe Bayleigh is the new HOH.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and Major League Wrestling.

the grocery stores today weren't that bad. the local one was pretty empty when i went. of course, they didn't have my bread there. it's usually a dime cheaper than the big grocery store i go to. when i went there, i went in the end that had no shopping carts. lovely. i walked to the other end of the store and got one. by this time, my back was fucking killing me. i ran into someone my mother worked with, i guess. she knew who i was and asked about mom. i still have no fucking clue who it was. between both stores, i kept it under $100. that's usually my goal. i was a little surprised this week as i got plenty of meat at the bigger grocery store.

i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow. i have to take mom shopping at Meijer and i'd love to get that done before the Yankees play in the afternoon. Manchester United takes on Liverpool later in the day. if you don't see a blog in the morning, expect one later at night.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

so this is what i've been missing all these years?

so my sister came down this morning and the plan was that her and mom were going to go out and them come and get me to go out to lunch. well, plans change. my sister's friend she was coming down to see was on the other end of the county and since they weren't going to drive all the way back to get me for lunch, i might as well come along. and since i'm trying to make an effort, i of course agreed. little did i know that we were going to do some shopping after the visit with my sister's friend. and then after lunch as well. my mom joked with me and said see what you've been missing all these years. i laughed and in the most sarcastic voice i can muster at the age of 39, said if i had to describe to a blind man what bliss is, today's the day. thank god lunch was great. Logan's Roadhouse. if it was only closer to where we live. the food was excellent. the alcohol was good. and it wasn't too expensive. and out of the shopping i got some shorts and one of those tall plastic coke bottles for coins. that will work better than the flower dish i was using.

now, time for a music break before i get to yesterday's events...

the New York Yankees won last night in Houston 3-2. they are playing right now and have just blown a 6 run lead. let's just say i'm not pleased.

team USA beat China 1-0 yesterday in the Women's World Cup. they played much better than the score shows. it was probably the best they had played in this tournament. they advance to play Germany on Tuesday in the semifinals.

the NHL Draft last night went how i thought it would until the New York Rangers never made the move into the first round. once that happened, i truly felt like i wasted 3 hours of my life. now today, i didn't get to watch any of the draft. i did see that the Rangers traded Cam Talbot (as i expected) and also traded Carl Hagelin (didn't expect that). the player they got for Hags will work as long as the fans don't expect the same numbers from him as Hags gave them. Emerson Etem will give a more physical presence though. plus, he'll make 1/3rd of what Hagelin was going to make. the backup goalie the Rangers got today from Chicago i love. Antti Raanta played great for my fantasy team this year and is the perfect fit for a backup. he will make 1/2 of what Talbot was going to make this season. that frees up some money for the restricted free agents the Rangers have. hopefully they can fit all the pieces together and make another run at the Stanley Cup. i liked the picks the Rangers got today. i think a few of the players may actually make it to the NHL in a few years. i'll just be happy when the team has a first round pick again.

NJPW was excellent last night. you can never go wrong with a show that has Okada, Nakamura, Tanahashi and AJ Styles on it.

the season finale of VICE last night was awesome. it truly is a show that EVERYONE should watch:

i guess for the rest of today i'll watch the rest of the baseball game, maybe some Copa America as well, and then god knows what tonight. i feel a nap or a huge shit coming on. i know i will have ROH on the DVR.

the weather today has been completely fucking dreary. just clouds and rain all the fucking time.

i guess i can now go read today's paper and my mail. my day always get out of whack when i have no afternoon nap.

hope everyone is having a great weekend. hopefully the sun actually exists where you are.

maybe a shower will do the trick

let me put on the broken record... it's hot, humid, steamy, miserable, and it's been like that today since 8 am. lovely.

mom decided that we needed to clean out the vacuum cleaner. like take it apart and clean it. that's always fun in the heat. hopefully we got all of the dirt and shit. the fun part will happen tomorrow after everything air dries. putting it back together.

we went to Bob Evans for dinner last night. i probably haven't been there in well over a decade. i was a little surprised that the food was really good.

here's something to make you think:

the soccer yesterday was somewhat hit and miss. i left and missed Paraguay's comeback on Argentina. i did see most of the Columbia women's huge upset over France. of course, the mistakes by the officials have been horrendous. i closed my night out by watching the U20 USA team lose to Serbia in the U20 World Cup. they lost on penalty kicks. i was sad to see the fairy tale end, but i'm happy to see some real talent coming for team USA in the years to come.

Power was excellent. i ended up watching that this morning. i really love how many layers the story has this season.

i also watched ROH this morning. i love me some heel Cedric Alexander. that should help his career. plus, the ongoing drama between BJ Whitmer and Steve Corino via Steve's son has been damn near perfect. another great episode.

enjoy a quick music break:

i did find the Yankees on tv last night. of course, i stopped watching once they started having their asses handed to them once again. another day, another loss, 9-4. they have to be the worst built first place team in baseball. they try to avoid the sweep this afternoon. i doubt i watch much of it.

my arthritis has been killing me today. trouble typing, trouble turning the knobs of doors, trouble holding a fork. good times.

i will probably watch some more soccer today before the hectic night schedule starts. since i will be watching the Money in the Bank ppv on the WWE Network, these shows will be on the DVR: the season finales of Veep and Silicon Valley, Last Week Tonight, Nurse Jackie, Happyish and Penny Dreadful. i suppose i will keep track of the NBA Finals tonight on the computer as the wrestling is going on.

i guess depending on how the rest of my day goes will decide if i watch all that late tonight or spend most of my Monday catching up.

that's all for me today. i can no longer find any pleasure in the pain. i'm speaking in the now, not in a metaphorical sense of suicide or something. i do hope your weekend is going good.

glutton for punishment

i've pretty much been in a shit mood for most of the day. anyone that knows me knows why.

the New York Rangers lost last night 9-2. completely outplayed would be an understatement. it was beyond fucking embarrassing. and i, the glutton for fucking punishment that i am, watched all of it. hopefully last night was the wake up call. on a fantasy note, i wasn't pleased with the elbow Rick Nash took to the head early in the first period last night. he didn't play the last 2 periods and most likely has another concussion. that puts a major fucking hole not only in my fantasy team but also the Rangers. just one of those nights you wish you could erase from your memory forever.

i did watch a good portion of The Voice last night. looks like the battle rounds are going to be good.

most of last night was spent watching the concussion documentary on the NFL that aired on PBS. wow, talk about a league getting absolutely buried. but, like most rich people, throw some cash at it and hope it goes away. mom looked at me halfway through it and said i'm so glad you never wanted to play football. i chuckled as i know if i would have played i would have been charged with some crime. i'm a tad bit competitive and have been known to fight dirty if i need to. and that sport is one where dirty is commonplace.

as for tonight, i will watch Duck Dynasty of course. not sure if i'm going to watch American Horror Story or not. chances are i will as that cast looks amazing. maybe a little baseball and hockey as well.

i was a little surprised by the news today that the Yankees are bringing back Joe Girardi next season. i thought for sure he was going to take the Cubs job. 4 years and 16 million are the numbers i'm hearing. hopefully that is the first of many good signings this hot stove season.

that's all for me. i need to go shower and do the dishes. if i could figure a way to do both at the same time, i would take an instructional video for you.

check out the many podcasts on the right hand side of this blog. i recommend all of them. if you need a laugh or just some background noise to get you through your day, give them a listen.

a little bit of everything

the power went out today. it was planned so the power company could upgrade some lines. it was supposed to be out for 1 hour. it was out for 3 minutes. you can imagine how happy i was as i was resetting all the fucking clocks in the house after that.

actually went to the grocery store today for the first time in a long time. but, it was just like the old days for me. get in and get out. i suppose i spent more time in the beer aisle than anywhere else. typical crazy guy cart: milk, beer, sunflower seeds, finch feeder, 3 bags of kitty litter, and some car cleaning supplies. i believe i have this recluse thing down now.

the Yankees tried to give away the sweep yesterday but ultimately won 9-5. they play Baltimore here in a few minutes. hopefully they have some revenge on their mind for this weekend.

critter update: i have figured out why the groundhog went missing. we now have 1 adult groundhog and 3 babies. just fucking great. also, my cat A Boy Named Sue somehow was able to hide a kitten from me for 6 months or so (i'm guessing from the size of it). needless to say i'm hoping the coyotes get busy real soon out here.

today was the start of free agency for the NHL. the New York Rangers made 2 minor moves. i was hoping they were going to get their restricted free agents signed today, but so far nothing on that front. there were a few surprises and a bunch of bad contracts. thankfully, the Rangers haven't made that mistake (yet).

i did watch that Philly Jam the Roots put on last night in Philadelphia. that was really good. a pretty diverse group of musicians.

i have to figure out what i'm eating for dinner tonight and what i'm going to watch if the Yankees start pissing me off. the beauty of DIRECTV i have found, i can usually find something.

i have a feeling this may end up being one of my infamous late night writing or painting sessions that end with a shower at 4 in the morning. if that happens, i will try to share the details sometime tomorrow.

my mother and sister made it down to South Carolina without any problems and seem to be having some fun. hopefully they bring me back something nice.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

also, i hope you enjoy the 2 podcasts i added to the right side of the page...

a Friday before the rain comes

this blog post is brought to you by The Sam Roberts Show Online, Episode #31. you can find the show on ITunes, Stitcher, and notsam.com. check it out and help him out if you can.

wanted to get this blog post done before the baseball playoffs start, before the rain comes, before i spend another hour on the toilet, etc. etc.

i couldn't sleep for shit last night. my back was in horrific pain and i'm not really sure if i want to know what the pain in my right leg is. but, i decided to actually get some shit done today. so, with that in mind, i actually sent out 13 poems today. the lucky ones receiving these gifts are The Camel Saloon, Carcinogenic Poetry, and Thunder Sandwich. hopefully, i will have good news to report soon.

not really surprised that the NHL are fucking up once again. in most labor spats, i side with the players. and this is no different. i love rich people who can't control themselves with spending but want others to take responsibility for it. if they don't watch it, hockey will be somewhere around lacrosse before long in this country. lose another season and us die hard fans will be the only ones left. just when the Rangers were on the cusp of the cup, fuck me.

a long weekend of sports is ahead for me. Yankees in the playoffs, Manchester United in action, NFL and all the fantasy fun and games. and who knows, maybe i sneak in a little writing on the side. depends on the pain i guess. or if the Yankees are winning or not. if you think i hate to lose in the regular season...

sad to see Bobby Valentine go so soon in Boston. wanted him to stay on for a decade and run that franchise into the ground.

hope everyone has a great weekend. peace and chicken grease.

embrace the insanity

just got done typing up the five poems i wrote last night. not quite sure what i think of them or where they will end up going. hopefully i have another writing outburst in me for the weekend. if a few certain things happen, it may be more than an outburst. time shall tell.

hopefully the Yankees take the Red Sox out behind the barn this weekend and put them out of their misery.

RvP is officially on Manchester United now. their revenge on the world tour begins this Monday. if he and the rest of the team can stay healthy, i will have some fun watching them run up the score on nearly everyone they play. if the injuries from last year crop up again... let's just say it won't be pretty.

the weather is supposed to have a touch of fall in the air this weekend. i'm at the point of who the fuck knows anymore. hard to be happy with the weather when i can look out the window and see dying crops. not fun at all.

other than some sports and writing, not really sure what my weekend plans are. maybe a trip over to the other home to clean some more shit out. maybe i'll get bored enough to go to the movies. or maybe i'll just sit in my room and listen to some old music. your guess is as good as mine.

where did the sun go?

the sun is out and it is beautiful. a nice cool breeze, hardly any humidity, damn near perfect. i take a quick shower and poof, where did the sun go? dark clouds but no rain. talk about a good day ruined.

took a trip to the bank. glad to see my hometown is still on the downward spiral it started 25 years ago. after a trip to the old house, it was back home to feed the birds.

i really only feed the birds to keep the cats entertained. once in a blue moon they catch one.

i sent 5 poems off to Black-Listed Magazine. hopefully something will stick.

a night of the Yankees, Deadliest Catch, some bullshit with the queen, a little NBA, then Letterman and Jimmy Fallon await me.
