peering through the rain and fog

so i slept a little better last night. i got almost 5 hours, which for me is like a normal person getting close to 8 hours. i did feel a little refreshed when i woke up this morning and i knew it was more than just the shower i took last night.

it rained all damn night. thankfully, none of it was frozen. my body is telling me it's going to rain most of the day. this will be fun.

the Dayton Flyers open up A10 play today at home against Duquesne. it's a game Dayton should win easily, but nothing comes easy for any damn team i root for. the game is on national television, airing on NBCSN. hopefully i'll be drinking a victory beer later today.

i caught up on some podcasts last night, notably Talk is Jericho and The Art of Wrestling. i finally took the time to actually start subscribing on iTunes to the podcasts i listen to all the time via rss. i also started deleting shit from my library on my computer. nothing like getting rid of shit you don't use anymore.

after the game, we're coming back home because the NFL playoffs start today. that will start off a crazy day for me on tv. after the two NFL playoff games and the New York Rangers game, i'm planning on watching the new episode of ROH. i believe it's all highlights from 2014. now, if i'm somehow still awake (i'm hoping to nap during the football games) i'm hoping to watch the NJPW ppv (Wrestle Kingdom 9). it starts at 2 in the morning here. i'm trying to force myself to stay up because this is basically the Japanese Wrestlemania. and all the matches look like they are going to be fucking awesome. and with it being the first time on American television... you get the point why i want to stay up. now, here's the kicker. the show will get over around 6 in the morning. at 10 in the morning, Manchester United will be playing. do i stay up, take a nap, say fuck it to everything and just sleep for 10 hours... decisions, decisions. seeing that the ppv is $45, if i'm getting it, i'm staying up to watch it.

i fed the cats this morning. i think they were a little surprised to see me that early. no dead ones, as of yet. i saw that in the middle of next week the lows are supposed to be below zero. that's when i'll truly be on alert for dead cats.

that's all for me today. i have to get ready to leave. and you know how concerned i am with my public appearance. stop laughing.

hope everyone has a great weekend. hopefully the weather is better where you are. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

welcome to the world of the bizarre

my neck pain made a reappearance today as i was on the computer this morning. i happened to look to my left and BAM. nothing like having a nerve start to scream. my left arm immediately felt like it was on fire. so, now i fear the pain pills and the nerve pills aren't working as well as the last couple of days since my steroid is starting to wind down. i'm hoping this gets better in the next week, but i'm not exactly hopeful at this point.

so, i didn't send out the poems like i thought i was going to today. instead i tried to just rest and calm my pinched nerve the best way i could. whatever the fuck that is as i haven't found something to completely take the pain away in the 5 weeks i've had this problem. maybe it's longer, the days are starting to run together on me. i did manage to get around 5 hours of sleep overnight. i figure that was why the pain came back. a sign of normalcy and the pain must bring back the bizarre.

speaking of bizarre, i had an english professor tell me today that i am one of her heroes. as i told my mother, i'm pretty sure that is a sign of an impending apocalypse. but i gladly accepted the compliment. not exactly everyday when someone in the academic world of writing compliments one of us fucks that never took one college writing class in our lives.

i fell asleep during the final hour of Monday Night Raw last night. that should sum up what i thought of the show. much more miss than hit. i do love that Cesaro is getting over more and more with the fans. i'm sure the WWE will manage to drop the ball with that as well.

as for this evening, i have no clue what i'm going to be watching. this might turn into an evening of catching up on some podcasts.

hopefully, this is the last night for a little while that the temps will fall below zero again. it's been so damn cold here for so long my brain has basically just turned itself off.

i will try to get on here tomorrow before the Manchester United game that i am dreading. and it doesn't look like i'll be going to the Dayton Flyers game tomorrow night. i don't want to take the chance of letting my adrenaline get the best of me and i end up hurting myself even more.

that's all for me. i can barely keep my neck up to look at the screen to type this anymore.

be well. be warm. to all my friends and fans in the south, just stay indoors. it will eventually melt. not that i can say the same thing for here.

later.

at least the sun is out

i did manage to get some more sleep finally. but it was so disjointed; a few hours in the chair, 1 hour in my bed, 2 more hours after 3 pain pills... not fun. the cold treatments aren't working much better than the heat was earlier in the week. looks like i'll be going to the doctor before too long. joy.

my sister made it down here yesterday without any problems. she made some great pumpkin doughnuts this morning, for my birthday. i believe i might be opening gifts tonight, not sure yet. but i know i have 2 full bags of stuff from her, so i'm at least intrigued.

hopefully my mother and sister get back here before the weather turns to shit later on today. the sun is out now and we've hit our high of 22 degrees, but there is some snow headed this way. hopefully, we're not in the area that's supposed to get 6 inches or so.

the New York Rangers play up in Ottawa in a few hours as part of the Hockey Day in Canada festivities. hopefully they can get a win and enjoy the flight home for the game tomorrow against Washington.

roughly at the same time, the Dayton Flyers will be playing at Richmond, a place they haven't won at in 10 years. i'd love to see them break that streak today. a few victory beers could go a long way to making my arm feel better.

other than that. i know i will be watching Saturday Night Live tonight and ROH as well.

i suppose there will be plenty of college basketball and other hockey games i'll flip through today as well.

as for tomorrow, i'm not exactly sure when i will be on here. Manchester United plays in the morning at Chelsea. then the family is taking me to a sports bar to watch some football. and then those games will lead right into the Sunday night programming. so, maybe a quick blog at 2 in the morning as i'm struggling to fall asleep. or, if something happens tonight that i just have to talk about, maybe an early morning post before all the Sunday shenanigans begin. time will tell.

hope everyone is well. no blowups as of yet with my sister and mother and myself. all bets are off if a couple of teams lose today and my arm starts to hurt more.

be well. enjoy some of the podcasts on the right hand side of this blog. i have to go find a missing cat and decide how the fuck Kit Kat broke her damn left hind leg. all while not falling or freezing my ass off. though, burying my left arm in a snow drift has crossed my damn mind.

harvest, sort of...

nothing like the threat of rain to get some shit done on the farm. the guy who farms out here and whoever else that was with him got 2 1/2 more truckloads of corn off today. of course, the rain moved in faster than anyone expected, so they still have some more to get off. hopefully, when it is all said and done, there will be 2 numbers to the left of the comma this year.

had quite the mindfuck watching The Voice last night. the first 90 minutes had one good performance. but the last 2 performances blew me away. the last one, Jacquie doing a cover of "I Put A Spell On You" was amazing, especially since she's 16 years old. the mindfuck comes from her looking almost identical to the girl, now woman, i have had a crush on since the 7th grade. talk about a flood of nostalgia.

another proving test tonight for the New York Rangers. facing a Penguins team that is better than them by a mile. i'd love to see them get 2 points tonight. but, what i'd like to see more is a team that competes in every aspect of the game. that would go a long way in making me believe that this team will not be denied, injured or not.

another episode of American Horror Story is on tap after the game. hopefully the good streak continues.

other than that, nothing much going on today. i did have to play chauffeur for my mother today as she was feeling a little uneasy driving in the rain and whatnot. that got me out of the house at least. got a postcard in the mail saying i needed to make an eye appointment. even though i have a card saying i had an appointment in 13 days from now. that was an interesting phone call. 3rd year in a row this shit has happened. if my eyes weren't so damn bad i'd just say fuck it, but i'm basically blind without them. but, especially after election day results around here, i get the feeling that i may be out of state soon. so, i'll get to go through the fun of finding all new everything. but that's jumping way ahead in the story. plenty of heartbreak to go before i get to that stage.

looks like all my fantasy teams are lined up for the coming week. not many injury concerns, knock on wood. i'd like to keep the momentum going as i try to ramp up for a deep playoff run. i want to accomplish the double this year. i never have won 2 fantasy football championships in the same season. i'd like to change that.

do check out some of the new feeds on the right hand side of this blog. plenty of new podcasts to choose from.

ok, enough rambling. got a decent nap watching some Champions League soccer this afternoon. so, maybe i'll be up a little later and get some damn writing done.

be well.

glutton for punishment

i've pretty much been in a shit mood for most of the day. anyone that knows me knows why.

the New York Rangers lost last night 9-2. completely outplayed would be an understatement. it was beyond fucking embarrassing. and i, the glutton for fucking punishment that i am, watched all of it. hopefully last night was the wake up call. on a fantasy note, i wasn't pleased with the elbow Rick Nash took to the head early in the first period last night. he didn't play the last 2 periods and most likely has another concussion. that puts a major fucking hole not only in my fantasy team but also the Rangers. just one of those nights you wish you could erase from your memory forever.

i did watch a good portion of The Voice last night. looks like the battle rounds are going to be good.

most of last night was spent watching the concussion documentary on the NFL that aired on PBS. wow, talk about a league getting absolutely buried. but, like most rich people, throw some cash at it and hope it goes away. mom looked at me halfway through it and said i'm so glad you never wanted to play football. i chuckled as i know if i would have played i would have been charged with some crime. i'm a tad bit competitive and have been known to fight dirty if i need to. and that sport is one where dirty is commonplace.

as for tonight, i will watch Duck Dynasty of course. not sure if i'm going to watch American Horror Story or not. chances are i will as that cast looks amazing. maybe a little baseball and hockey as well.

i was a little surprised by the news today that the Yankees are bringing back Joe Girardi next season. i thought for sure he was going to take the Cubs job. 4 years and 16 million are the numbers i'm hearing. hopefully that is the first of many good signings this hot stove season.

that's all for me. i need to go shower and do the dishes. if i could figure a way to do both at the same time, i would take an instructional video for you.

check out the many podcasts on the right hand side of this blog. i recommend all of them. if you need a laugh or just some background noise to get you through your day, give them a listen.

a little bit of everything

the power went out today. it was planned so the power company could upgrade some lines. it was supposed to be out for 1 hour. it was out for 3 minutes. you can imagine how happy i was as i was resetting all the fucking clocks in the house after that.

actually went to the grocery store today for the first time in a long time. but, it was just like the old days for me. get in and get out. i suppose i spent more time in the beer aisle than anywhere else. typical crazy guy cart: milk, beer, sunflower seeds, finch feeder, 3 bags of kitty litter, and some car cleaning supplies. i believe i have this recluse thing down now.

the Yankees tried to give away the sweep yesterday but ultimately won 9-5. they play Baltimore here in a few minutes. hopefully they have some revenge on their mind for this weekend.

critter update: i have figured out why the groundhog went missing. we now have 1 adult groundhog and 3 babies. just fucking great. also, my cat A Boy Named Sue somehow was able to hide a kitten from me for 6 months or so (i'm guessing from the size of it). needless to say i'm hoping the coyotes get busy real soon out here.

today was the start of free agency for the NHL. the New York Rangers made 2 minor moves. i was hoping they were going to get their restricted free agents signed today, but so far nothing on that front. there were a few surprises and a bunch of bad contracts. thankfully, the Rangers haven't made that mistake (yet).

i did watch that Philly Jam the Roots put on last night in Philadelphia. that was really good. a pretty diverse group of musicians.

i have to figure out what i'm eating for dinner tonight and what i'm going to watch if the Yankees start pissing me off. the beauty of DIRECTV i have found, i can usually find something.

i have a feeling this may end up being one of my infamous late night writing or painting sessions that end with a shower at 4 in the morning. if that happens, i will try to share the details sometime tomorrow.

my mother and sister made it down to South Carolina without any problems and seem to be having some fun. hopefully they bring me back something nice.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

also, i hope you enjoy the 2 podcasts i added to the right side of the page...
