#never forget

as much as i know i will never forget 9/11, i also look back on it as such a wasted opportunity to unite this country. and as we sit here in 2018, the most divided we have been in 50 fucking years, i wonder if this divide would have happened if the right steps would have been made to unite this country on 9/12/2001. of course, the Republicans were in power then, as they are now. it's all about greed and war while they are in power. they are only conservatives when the left has the power. it's the joy of being a fucking hypocrite i suppose. but, they are rich, so they don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

i saw Rolling Stone posted a story today from David Foster Wallace about 9/11 as seen from the Midwest. that made me immediately think about the poem i wrote about a week after 9/11.
that poem is in my book Sofisticated White Trash. feel free to buy it on Amazon.com. it was true back then and it is still true today.

it was actually nice enough that i was able to get outside today and take down the bird feeders by the windows and clean up the fucking weeds and vines a bit. the new windows will start going in on Thursday.

the New York Yankees erupted last night in the 7th inning and defeated the Twins, 7-2. hopefully, they can win again tonight.

i was in and out of Monday Night Raw last night. i really don't think i missed much. it's obvious they were trying to set up Hell in a Cell this weekend without doing too much.

i know the muse and my mother were very happy last night when the New York Jets won. i watched some of that and some of the Rams victory over the Raiders.

the finale of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story was very powerful last night. i love how it showed how all these racists came out of hiding when Trump started running for President. it's not a coincidence. they are proud to have a racist running this country, just like how they thought it was always meant to be. to them, it's sort of like the south finally won the war. the irony being, it was a stupid as fuck asshole from New York that did it for them. i also liked how they clearly showed the confederate flag is racist as it was declared by the asshole that created it. i know, fucking logic. it doesn't work with the ignorant.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Fuck That's Delicious and Mayans M.C. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the USMNT takes on Mexico tonight in a friendly. i would to see the USA win, but i don't have my hopes up.

i have to take mom to a doctor's appointment tomorrow. this is with the doctor that fucked up her disability claim, so it should be very interesting.

i will probably be on here after we get home from the doctor's appointment and a late lunch.

i have trash to go pick up and i really need to shave and shower after working outside today.

that's all for me kids.

waiting for a storm

well, the assholes that do the weather on the local news can't make up their minds on which dire forecast to predict. are we getting the 10 inches of snow that will stop everything around here or are we getting an ice storm that's going to bring down power lines and freeze all of us to death? if i had to choose, i'll go with the snow. i've lived here long enough to know we'll get neither. but i'm getting my mind ready to battle with my arm just in case.

i've been in a pretty shitty mood all day long. the sun has decided to take the day off. you can just tell it wants to snow so damn bad but nothing is hitting the ground yet. but that doesn't stop it from fucking with my bones. i've been aching all damn day long. doesn't help that i didn't sleep for shit last night. hopefully the next trip to the doctor's office yields better results than this last one.

Monday Night Raw was really hit or miss last night. didn't really help me escape from my pain.

tonight, the New York Rangers are back in action against Colorado. i'd love to see a win mostly just so i can have a victory beer.

other than that, i imagine i'll be watching it snow this evening. if the arm is feeling good enough, maybe i'll try to do something creative. if not, i'll be in my recliner trying to sleep.

a big thank you to Michelle Mattila for her lovely comments about my book, Sofisticated White Trash. that's certainly one way to take my mind away from this shitty day.

well, the pain pills are starting to fade. that's all for me. i hope everyone is well. i hope you don't have a shitty storm coming your way. and i hope your mind isn't consumed with pain.

later.

a long cold day in hell

i got a little better sleep last night. a little being instead of 4 hours i got 4 1/2 hours of sleep. my arm has been killing me all day long. i've made the mistake of simply trying to block out the pain and do what i normally do with my left arm. reach for things, sweep the floor, the dishes, etc. etc. not good. and with my sports teams slowly killing me by not giving me any victory beers, i believe i am on the road to a slow death. either that or a home amputation. i'll keep you posted.

just got done watching the New York Rangers lose a tough one to St. Louis 2-1. just one of those games that just wasn't meant to be. oh well.

last night, the Dayton Flyers got humbled at home by VCU, 80-66. quite frankly, the game was never that close. i'm pretty happy i didn't go.

we only got an inch of snow last night but the winds were holy shit cold this morning. when i went out to feed the cats and throw some birdseed on the ground the windchill was -20. i came back in and told my mother, how ever many layers of clothes she thought she needed when she goes out, put another one on.

i made some chili and cornbread for dinner tonight. if it's anything like it normally is, by 5 this morning, this entire house will be full of farts. good times.

Duck Dynasty last night was ok. i haven't really been impressed so far this season.

American Horror Story was excellent last night. kept me glued the entire episode. really set up the season finale next week so well. i can't wait to see it.

i heard from my publisher today on my book, Sofisticated White Trash. he now has it set up where you can get the book at 50% off the regular price. email me for the special code to take advantage of that discount.

not sure if i believe that Juan Mata is actually going to go to Manchester United or not. i suppose when i see the club announce it, then i will believe it. not sure if he can be the savior of this season or not. he no doubt will be a great addition, but probably way too late for any trophies. at this rate, i'll be thrilled if they can finish in the top 4 yet again. that even seems like an unlikely mountain to climb at this point.

that's pretty much all for me today. i'm going to drink a glass of milk and decide if i should shave my head completely bald or not. if i don't go that route, i do see some scissors and a bottle of whiskey nearby. there's a good chance come morning these bangs won't be in my eyes anymore.

be well, be warm, be drunk, be creative, be a good boy and ask where to cum, be loud in quiet situations, and be the freak you always wanted to be.

peace.

new month same fog

when i woke up this morning you couldn't see the corn, which is less than 50 feet from the house. to say it was foggy would be a huge understatement. i was shocked that i didn't hear about any major accidents or anything. the fog didn't really burn off until 11 am.

had a long, heartbreaking conversation with an old friend this morning. not an easy position for me to be in as i'm basically unable to offer much help and what little i can do isn't being accepted. oh well. hopefully my old friend finds the right spot in the world for themselves. they deserve at least that much.

i enjoyed what i got to see of The Voice last night. i was flipping between baseball and wrestling. but the voices i did get to hear i enjoyed. i'll be paying a little closer attention this evening. emphasis on little.

Monday Night Raw was great last night. kudos to CM Punk for even having me fooled that he injured himself. easy to see why he's my 3rd favorite of all time. all the storylines advanced pretty well going into the ppv this Sunday. they (the creative team) have at the very least kept me interested in what's going on. been awhile since i was at that level.

i did go through some poems this morning and came up with 12 i'll be sending out later this week. i've got 3 places in mind.

a big thank you to Drew Brees for his outstanding performance last night, which allowed me to win both of my fantasy football matches.

the NHL regular season starts this evening. say hello again to the sport i have the most passion about. and if any of my new readers think my rants about baseball are something, wait until the New York Rangers go on a losing streak. only 3 games this evening. i'll be watching bits and pieces, as of course, i have some fantasy players going tonight.

i imagine i will be writing on this again after the Manchester United game tomorrow. hopefully while enjoying a victory beer.

i won a $100 voucher for some wine last night. of course, it was one of those where i had to spend $160 to be able to use the voucher. so, in a week or so, my alcoholism will become a bit more sophisticated.

and speaking of that word, can you think of a better christmas gift than my book Sofisticated White Trash. get your copy today.

plenty of music to get to today. hope this finds everyone well.

Arnold Skemer's review of Sofisticated White Trash

this review appears in ZYX #65.

SOFISTICATED WHITE TRASH
J.J. Campbell
Interior Noise Press
Austin, TX.
978-0-9816606-8-4
$15.00
2013

A tortured soul out of sync with others, a societal reject knowing unremitting mental torture, a man isolated from humanity and, in a sense, isolated from himself. When he walks down a street he sees a steaming turd on the sidewalk. He stops, considers it and walks right towards it, stomping his foot into it. Depressed though he is, primal urges surge through his body. Endless masturbatory activity is the result. He watches Soul Train reruns to get revved up, even engaging in "convict pussy." But when the ejaculation is spent he returns to the meaninglessness of his existence. Campbell is an honest man much more frank than the usual and in his misanthropy, nihilism and obscene disregard of social propriety, there is something very liberating. He's depressed, disgusted and alienated but his spirit thrives, rife with invective and disruptive power. He doesn't hold anything back. This is strong stuff, not for prissy people. He gets quite disgusting but there is a release in all this. There is a thrill rushing through the mind as one listens to the diatribes. Other poets treat of the underside of life but Campbell's spirit of revolt is imbued with outrageous humor that transcends the vile garbage of living and grants relief.

Trent Reznor started a creative fire inside me today

so, i finally got a chance to listen to the new Nine Inch Nails album, hesitation marks, today. holy shit, i was blown away. i got the deluxe edition and am absolutely happy i spent the extra money for it. in my opinion, the best NIN album in years. really blew me away. especially the song All Time Low. that to me ranks up there with most of the iconic NIN songs from my teenage years. so, needless to say, Trent started a little creative fire inside of me. and, the brain got going and below is my latest YouTube video:

one of my favorite poems from my book Sofisticated White Trash. dark and funny. might be my promo video to try to increase sales for the holiday season.

so, as i was watching the Yankees listlessly swing and miss at pitch after pitch last night, i was flipping through the channels. watched much more of the Big Brother finale than i thought i would. i'm ok with Andy winning, though i don't like the fact that they missed the chance to drag these assholes over the coals for the TMZ fires they started all season long. that would have made for great tv.

Duck Dynasty was pretty funny last night. i remember when i had my wisdom teeth pulled. sadly, i woke up in the middle of it. didn't ask to go back under, just enjoyed the pain. i'm a sick one.

flipped back to the Yankees just as they were waking the fuck up in the 8th inning. went from down 3-0 to winning 4-3 out of nowhere. Mo made it interesting in the 9th, but that simply made the victory beer more gratifying than normal. a much needed win. hopefully they can get the series win this evening.

The Bridge last night was excellent. some death, a few more twists, and at least one viewer wondering what the fuck this show has left in the last 2 episodes. truly a brilliant show.

i do have a WR for the Chiefs going tonight, so i guess i'll watch some of the NFL game tonight. tried my best to make some minor fantasy moves today to hopefully make the games closer than they should be.

we actually got some rain and thunder this morning right after i woke up at 6:45 AM. wasn't expecting that at all. glad the a/c is fixed. it's going to be muggy as hell the next few days, so it will come in handy.

if the creative fire keeps burning, i might write some poetry this evening. or, i'll just keep fucking with my LinkedIn account until i like it again.

hope this finds everyone well. hope you enjoy my new video. if you haven't already, BUY THE BOOK.

Christopher Byck's review of Sofisticated White Trash

J.J. Campbell's collection "Sofisticated White Trash" delivers exactly what the title promises. The collection, like most narrative-confessional poetry, is ripe with raw words, dire emotions, and truthfulness.  However, it manages to move the genre into a new semi-unexplored area. These poems are strong; the collection is a great introduction to the poet, his lifestyle, and worldview.

Campbell pays homage to the narrative-confessional style in poems like 'paralyze'. He disgusted me in 'another roadside cross'; a poem which stuck with me, angered me, but which likely proves true, at least according to Campbell. The imagery, as demonstrated in 'suicide watch' with lines like '... holes in walls shaped/ like frustrated fists', is ripe. Campbell has suffered and he is the first to point out his own fault in his suffering. His misgivings are many, his family life hellish, his self-pity evident.

The back roads of Ohio provide a poetic canvas, one that Campbell explores in his truck and reports about in sparse detail. This gives the reader a desire to know more and a conviction to stay away. I disagreed with Campbell a lot, although he is spot on at times, I appreciated hearing the perspective. I wholeheartedly agree that Ellen Barkin is wonderfully sexy.

The 'sofisticated' part of the collection comes about in the craftsmanship of many of the poems. These poems were written with a conscious effort to be artful in design, if not in content. This is demonstrated in 'american flag' which displays a unique perspective on 9/11.

There are occasional misplaced words and redundancies, but these shortcomings add to the authenticity of the poetry. He is a craftsman, but isn't afraid to vomit feelings onto the page and let it dry as it fell.

watercolors part 3

after another Yankees win yesterday, their season high 6th in a row, and after cleaning up my truck a bit (those Armor All wipes really work), all this rain and clouds and life just got to me. so, i put on some music and went to some really dark places. i'm always a little concerned/amazed when i do this and creativity comes to mind. i'm not sure i want to see what happens when it doesn't. anywho, i broke out the watercolors and here are the results.

another great episode of ROH last night. i really enjoyed it.

i've got the Wimbledon finals on right now. i'll have that on in the background for most of the morning most likely. i've got some floors to sweep, toilets to clean, and trash to pickup. on top of that, animals to feed, a shower to take, a Sunday paper to read, and some poems to email out. i have decided on the 16 poems i'll be sending to a few different places. i'll do that late tonight to relive my old tradition of sending out poems on late Sunday night/Monday morning. that's how i used to spend most of my 20's it seems like.

i do plan on watching the Yankees later today. hopefully they can get their second straight sweep. also, a little Big Brother this evening and Ray Donovan on Showtime.

and now for a shameless plug... be sure to pick up your copy of Sofisticated White Trash today. follow the links on the upper right hand side of this blog and do take advantage of the discounts. (it's on sale at amazon.com last time i checked)

hope everyone is having a great weekend. maybe tomorrow i'll write about the sun miraculously reappearing. or maybe not.

and the day started with thunder

always fun when you are awakened by thunder and your back feels like it's in a million pieces. i did manage to sleep 1 hour longer than usual, but i highly doubt if it was good sleep.

i went to the bank today and had a good laugh. 4 tellers are working. and there is a line about 6 deep. i'm at the back of that line. 1 teller has his screen freeze and another is occupied with a man handing her bags of coins to count. i started laughing on the inside as i figured this is my test to see if i can actually stand being in public at all anymore. i waited my turn and got my reward; the good looking teller. way too young and out of my league for me, but that was about as pleasant of 2 minutes with her that i could have imagined waiting in the back of that line.

i got the cats fed and the trash cans back up to the house before it started raining again. which it looks like it is getting ready to do now. this post could take longer than expected. i do fear that 2 of my cats are gone. Gizmo 2.0 and Phantom of the Opera have both been missing for a couple of weeks now. sadly, with the coyotes still around, i think i know where they may have ended up. 2 more weeks without being seen and i'll make it official. of course, the kittens from a few months ago are getting close to being sprung upon the rest of the cats. that will make things interesting for sure.

here is the good news i have to share about my book, Sofisticated White Trash. the book and i will be featured during the week of August 18th through the 24th on the website: http://mauricetudorbookstore.wordpress.com as the author of the week. that should get me a little more exposure. especially to a crowd that doesn't read my work. a big thank you to Maurice Tudor for thinking of me.

the Yankees will try to stop their quest to last place tonight in Minnesota. they usually play well there, but that hasn't meant much this year. thankfully, i'll have other shit on tv to watch instead.

Monday Night Raw looks to be a promising one once again. they seem to have gotten back to some decent storytelling for a change. and, as long as the story keeps going forward and has some shocks along the way that are unexpected and not re-hashes of old story lines, i'll stay a happy boy.

today marked the first official day on the job for David Moyes as the boss of Manchester United. i watched the video of him arriving and it still seems so surreal. hopefully, they get some signings made official here in the next few days to get the momentum really going in the positive.

well, i better get going before the next storm hits. hope everyone has a good one.

i was hoping to avoid all of this

today was/is one of those days where my mind is in one of those really weird spaces. the daughter of the woman that molested me is getting married today. at the surface it's really no big deal to me. peel back the onion and then you enter the absolute mind fuck zone. i was hoping to avoid it, but i knew damn well, there is a prick asshole writer inside of me that loves this shit. so yeah, i wrote 4 poems today. and honestly, i think they are all really good. i got a feeling i might have a big submission or two going out in early July.

the Yankees managed to lose a 3-0 lead last night to lose 4-3. i of course didn't see any of the bad stuff as my sister had taken over the television and i didn't feel like taking my lazy fat ass to the other room or upstairs to watch the game. maybe if they were better this year... so i watched Dateline i think, or something like that. i was doing a word search so i wouldn't pick an argument. thankfully, the Yankees are blacked out for me tonight.

in my futile attempt to avoid my mind today, i watched a little tennis. i even rolled coins. to put it bluntly, nothing fucking worked.

i need to get in a nice long shower before the next round of storms hit.

not exactly sure what i'll be watching tonight other than ROH and Big Brother After Dark. i'm not exactly thrilled with the plan the powers that be in the house have for the first elimination. i can see the logic but sadly, i don't think these people have truly watched the show. you leave someone in the house after you had the chance to get rid of them and it will always come back to haunt you. and when that someone is production's little darling, i do hope they are ready to be fucked for the next few months.

a big thank you to Frontier Communications for the whole 5 days or so the internet actually worked decently. lets just say today it's back to being a big old piece of shit.

i may have some good news to share about my book, Sofisticated White Trash, in the coming days. fingers are crossed as it may involve a little exposure overseas.

if you happen to follow this blog via email, please shoot me an email and let me know. i want to see if i can do a little something for the hell i put you people through. besides, this rag has been around for more than a year now. much longer than i thought it would last.

a big sports day tomorrow with the Confederations Cup coming to an end and the NHL Draft. not sure when i will do a post. i want to give the new Showtime show Ray Donovan a chance. so i'm guessing it could be a late night rambler. besides, i do believe the Yankees are on Sunday Night Baseball as well. no sleep for the wicked...

that's all for today... peace and chicken grease.
