somehow, my mother has lost her glasses. we have looked all over her room and haven't found them. i get the feeling this is going to be my future until her death. joy.
here are your links for this day of Black History Month:
on the DVR tonight will be NXT and St. Denis Medical.
the Dayton Flyers play tonight at home against Davidson.
i'm doing a little experimenting for dinner tonight. i got some onions and mushrooms i need to use. so, i'm thinking of cooking them with some ground turkey and then add some cheese and that will be dinner. mom's teeth are going bad, so she can only eat soft stuff. i figure that should work.
i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.
i did write 1 poem last night. it seems i'm writing more about death and suicide lately. go figure.

i took a shower last night, hoping to ease the ache of my body. it didn't exactly work, but once i did fall asleep, i got a few hours of deep sleep. of course, i didn't wake up until 9 this morning, so i missed the start of the Manchester United game. more on that in a bit. we're supposed to have a run of days where it is in the 50's and sunshine. i'll gladly take them.
Manchester United won today 3-0 at home over West Ham. that is more like it boys.

the problem with my mother using white noise or other sounds to sleep is she is basically deaf. so, that meant i could hear the white noise all the way in the kitchen, let alone my bedroom right next door to hers. now, i don't mind it most of the time, but when she was awake this morning and it was still blaring loud enough that i could barely hear the television in the living room, i had no choice but to be the asshole and go to her room and turn the fucking app off on her phone. i'm hoping that isn't how today is going to be like, but...
my gambling sucked last night and it didn't start well this morning either. hopefully, i'm at the bottom now and can only go up from here.

i'm sure i will watch some other college basketball games today as well.
it is supposed to warm up some today, so i will probably feed the birds later today.
Manchester United won today at home against Crystal Palace, 2-1. Casemiro lost his head in the second half today and got a straight red card. Bruno and Rashford scored for United today. this was a MUST win after Arsenal dropped points this morning at Everton.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

Vice News Tonight had two really good shows this week.
Celebrity Big Brother was good last night. i'm not sure who will get eliminated tonight.

we probably got around 6 inches of snow. we have a few drifts out here that are higher than 6. i guess mom has someone coming out in the morning to shovel the driveway and salt it. i am pissed enough right now, i could go out and do it myself. but, i know damn well, my back won't make it through it.
i need to vacuum the house, so that's all for me kids.

NXT was very good last night.
AEW was very good last night as well.
i did happen to catch NXT UK this afternoon. it was very good.
The Masked Dancer was good last night. i was correct on who was the Exotic Bird.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Washington. i'm hoping the Rangers find a way to win against a team that is way better than they are.

today has been nothing but rain. just enough rain to make every fucking bone in my body ache. good times.
i did get to the bank today. after i made that deposit, i went to get some gas. i always like having a full tank when some shitty weather is coming. after that, mom wanted Taco Bell for lunch today. i hate going there when it is raining because the drive-thru is out in the open and the inside of the car gets wet. good times.
the New York Rangers lost to Dallas last night, 5-3.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.
The New Pope was excellent last night.

well, i hope the NFL is happy, because that shitty Super Bowl last night was exactly what they fucking deserved for fucking over the Saints. and the even funnier part to me was the Rams losing to the Patriots, 13-3, which also happened to be the Saints record this past season. and honestly, the commercials were only a little better than the game. i wish i was in New Orleans yesterday. they had a good time:
True Detective last night was really good.
Crashing was pretty funny last night.
High Maintenance was great last night.
WWE Halftime Heat was fucking great yesterday. i'm so happy i watched that instead of the NFL's halftime show.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Celebrity Big Brother. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against the Kings. i imagine there will be more scouts at the game than fans that actually care for the Rangers to win. it's getting close to the trade deadline again and i'm sure the Rangers are going to have another sell off this season.
i did get to the bank today. after that, i had to go pick up some pills for mom.
i wrote 7 poems while she was doing her physical therapy today. i will type those up probably late tonight.
i'll probably be on here tomorrow after mom's doctor's appointment. i believe this is the one to get the ball rolling on them doing something with her shoulder.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. all the snow is basically gone from here now. a couple days in the 50's and some rain will do that.

before i get into bitching and complaining, a little poetry news...
i sent out 13 poems this morning. 3 to Raw Dog Press and 5 each to Street Poet Review and Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
the Dayton Flyers lost to UMass yesterday 86-82 in double overtime. Dayton had a chance to win in regulation, but the shot was just short. UMass got the benefit in the second overtime of a miracle shot that shouldn't have counted but since the A10 has a shitty television contract, none of the video feeds had the shot that showed the ball still in the player's hands when the clock was at zero. sadly, knowing Dayton, they would have still found a way to lose if the officials would have got the call right. last week the coach forgot to use a timeout. this week, the coach didn't bother to use any substitutions. from halftime to the first minute of the second overtime, the same 5 players played. this makes no fucking sense when UMass is basically down to a 2 man bench. i am stunned at the amount of basketball Anthony Grant seems to have forgotten. of course, he probably knows the school doesn't have the balls to admit their mistake and fire him after this season. this was one of those games that if this team was actually good, it would have left an awful taste in my mouth until the day i died.
the New York Rangers lost last night in Nashville 5-2. they lost two players to concussions on plays that somehow didn't result in penalties on Nashville. what truly pissed me off was the guy the Rangers just got off waivers is supposed to be an enforcer. so you would think he would have started a fight or looked to get some kind of revenge for his teammates. nope. instead the Rangers best young defenseman had to do it. of course, the enforcer last played for Nashville, how convenient. at least this team is now in last place in the division. let the trades start happening please.
i did watch a good portion of the NFL Honors last night. Drew Brees won for clutch player of the year and the New Orleans Saints had both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year.
Saturday Night Live was fucking hilarious last night. i have loved Natalie Portman since she was 13 years old.
Austin City Limits was very good last night.
ROH was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Divorce and Crashing.
i'll probably be watching the Super Bowl for most of the evening. i really don't give a shit who wins the game. at this point, i just hope the fucking commercials are good.
i know my mother wants to watch This Is Us after the game. she's obsessed with that show.
i think Jimmy Fallon is doing a live Tonight Show late tonight. i'll probably watch that.
we did get a little snow overnight. it's a wet and heavy snow. just enough to fuck with the satellite dish. i was able to get out and get the newspaper. so i have zero plans on going back outside today.
i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

i was really hoping the Dayton Flyers would take a team out behind the woodshed today and kill them. thankfully, i got exactly what i wanted. Dayton had an unbelievable 30 assists today, 3rd most in program history. they absolutely destroyed Duquesne, 90-53. honestly, it didn't feel like the game was that close.
my sister and i had to go to the grocery store after the game to pick up a few things. she wanted to get this beer that is named after the town we grew up in. it's actually really good. i think she's giving it to some friends that now live out of state. i had to pick up a few things for mom. i ran into a girl from high school that i probably haven't seen since i was in my early 20's. we started talking and i immediately thought back to a drunken kiss in a parking lot of a local club. ah, the good old days of drinking and driving and trying to fuck anything that moved... hopefully she looks up my most recent books and buys something.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Treehouse Masters was really good last night. it was a contest episode where two winners got $20,000 makeovers of their treehouses. every time i watch that show i think about what i should have done at the farm. if only i had some fuck you money.
NJPW was great last night. it was the last episode of footage from Wrestle Kingdom 11.
Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent once again.
enjoy some music:

team USA looked really good again last night against Jamaica. they finally got rewarded for their effort as well. two clean sheets in a row is something i could get used to. hopefully Bruce Arena can turn them around in time to still qualify for the next World Cup. USA won 1-0.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday night. call if you need bail money.
i'll be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays. the way they are going these days, it's probably best i don't get on here after the game.

well, the assholes that do the weather on the local news can't make up their minds on which dire forecast to predict. are we getting the 10 inches of snow that will stop everything around here or are we getting an ice storm that's going to bring down power lines and freeze all of us to death? if i had to choose, i'll go with the snow. i've lived here long enough to know we'll get neither. but i'm getting my mind ready to battle with my arm just in case.
i've been in a pretty shitty mood all day long. the sun has decided to take the day off. you can just tell it wants to snow so damn bad but nothing is hitting the ground yet. but that doesn't stop it from fucking with my bones. i've been aching all damn day long. doesn't help that i didn't sleep for shit last night. hopefully the next trip to the doctor's office yields better results than this last one.
Monday Night Raw was really hit or miss last night. didn't really help me escape from my pain.
tonight, the New York Rangers are back in action against Colorado. i'd love to see a win mostly just so i can have a victory beer.
other than that, i imagine i'll be watching it snow this evening. if the arm is feeling good enough, maybe i'll try to do something creative. if not, i'll be in my recliner trying to sleep.
a big thank you to Michelle Mattila for her lovely comments about my book, Sofisticated White Trash. that's certainly one way to take my mind away from this shitty day.
well, the pain pills are starting to fade. that's all for me. i hope everyone is well. i hope you don't have a shitty storm coming your way. and i hope your mind isn't consumed with pain.

when i had back spasms last night as i was doing the dishes, i was really hoping the next weather system was going to get through here real soon. as i type, it is snowing sideways outside. damn good thing i got the cats fed before all this shit started.
big sports weekend, of course. the 49ers really let me down. thankfully, i didn't have any money on the game. i did like that the game got really good after the power outage. best thing of that was not having to hear those assholes Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. there are days when i would prefer to be deaf. any Super Bowl on CBS since the Summerall and Madden days have just stunk from a broadcast sense. "hello friends, please don't allow my smug ass holy shit huge ego get in the way of me and my partner doing our best to ruin this game for you." not that i have an opinion or anything. as for the commercials, i did like a few of them. i would say the farmer one was probably my favorite. although, 'i'd fold your panties any day' would be a close second. of course, that's the perv inside of me talking.
got a nice, unexpected win from the New York Rangers Saturday night. amazing what can happen when you play with discipline and constantly engage the opponent. didn't see the trade of Mike Rupp coming but at first blush, i do like it. get 2 younger players at the same price. win.
i am really hoping that the Dayton Flyers have found rock bottom. a total, embarrassing ass whipping at St. Louis on Saturday afternoon. holy shit, it was hard to watch. when the best part is a walk-on hitting a 3, you can just imagine my frustration. sadly, i have no clue if this is bottom or not. next game is on Wednesday. i guess i'm going, not really sure yet. and just ask anyone that knows me, if i'm at that stage during a season, all damn hope is lost.
thankfully, earlier Saturday Wayne Rooney gave Manchester United a very exciting 1-0 win. if the goalies would have been off their games, the game easily could have been 5-4. the lead is now 9 points in the Premier League. i won't be counting my eggs just yet after last year, but i feel pretty damn good about the chances of the title this year.
got a weird, but really cool email on Sunday night from Eric Kennedy, editor of Hidden Animals. he was writing all the writers who were to have work appear in Electric Poet. i remember having work accepted by that zine a long while back but never saw anything. apparently, Eric was one of those writers as well and wants to have a special section at his new zine dedicated to that work. so, i found those poems, eventually, and sent them to him. would be nice to see those poems find a nice home. i will be sure to post any news on that front here on the blog. you can find more about Hidden Animals at http://www.hiddenanimalslit.com/.
been catching bits and pieces of Trainspotting on Showtime the last few days. one of those movies that i have to stop and watch nearly every time i see it on. of course, it brings back my behind closed doors addiction to 90's electronic music. so, you can imagine what is going on in my head for the last few days.
just a quick reminder, my first full length collection of poetry, "Sofisticated White Trash" is getting really close to being finished. when it hits the streets, be prepared for me whoring it around like a pusher. and if i seem more annoying than usual, my apologies in advance.
