i sent out 13 poems this morning. 3 to Raw Dog Press and 5 each to Street Poet Review and Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
the Dayton Flyers lost to UMass yesterday 86-82 in double overtime. Dayton had a chance to win in regulation, but the shot was just short. UMass got the benefit in the second overtime of a miracle shot that shouldn't have counted but since the A10 has a shitty television contract, none of the video feeds had the shot that showed the ball still in the player's hands when the clock was at zero. sadly, knowing Dayton, they would have still found a way to lose if the officials would have got the call right. last week the coach forgot to use a timeout. this week, the coach didn't bother to use any substitutions. from halftime to the first minute of the second overtime, the same 5 players played. this makes no fucking sense when UMass is basically down to a 2 man bench. i am stunned at the amount of basketball Anthony Grant seems to have forgotten. of course, he probably knows the school doesn't have the balls to admit their mistake and fire him after this season. this was one of those games that if this team was actually good, it would have left an awful taste in my mouth until the day i died.
the New York Rangers lost last night in Nashville 5-2. they lost two players to concussions on plays that somehow didn't result in penalties on Nashville. what truly pissed me off was the guy the Rangers just got off waivers is supposed to be an enforcer. so you would think he would have started a fight or looked to get some kind of revenge for his teammates. nope. instead the Rangers best young defenseman had to do it. of course, the enforcer last played for Nashville, how convenient. at least this team is now in last place in the division. let the trades start happening please.
i did watch a good portion of the NFL Honors last night. Drew Brees won for clutch player of the year and the New Orleans Saints had both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year.
Saturday Night Live was fucking hilarious last night. i have loved Natalie Portman since she was 13 years old.
Austin City Limits was very good last night.
ROH was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Divorce and Crashing.
i'll probably be watching the Super Bowl for most of the evening. i really don't give a shit who wins the game. at this point, i just hope the fucking commercials are good.
i know my mother wants to watch This Is Us after the game. she's obsessed with that show.
i think Jimmy Fallon is doing a live Tonight Show late tonight. i'll probably watch that.
we did get a little snow overnight. it's a wet and heavy snow. just enough to fuck with the satellite dish. i was able to get out and get the newspaper. so i have zero plans on going back outside today.
i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.
