going out in a rush

as February winds down, i got my ass in gear today and got 49 poems out into the world. and i did it with my old mouse that i had been at war with. my new one died the other day and i was worried this old fucker was going to let me down. but, i went a little slower than usual and sure enough, not one fucking problem.

i sent 3 poems to Yellow Mama; 5 poems each to Horror Sleaze Trash, Academy Of The Heart And Mind, Ink Pantry and Live Nude Poems; 6 poems to Record Magazine; 10 poems each to Stanzaic Stylings and The Poetry Jukebox. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

mom's doctor's appointment went pretty good today. she was able to see her MRI and her CT Scan. everything in the scan looks fine. she will get checked again in a year to make sure nothing is going on. i think with her MRI she could clearly see why she has pain in her legs with all the discs that are out of place. she's got some serious nerve pain going on. i know exactly what she is dealing with. it fucking sucks.

the Dayton Flyers played an unbelievable first half last night at UMass. i think they shot like 80% from the field or something like that. even when they took the foot off the gas in the second half, they coasted to a victory. Dayton won last night 72-48. that's how you get your first victory in 15 years at a place. Dayton plays at home on Friday night against Rhode Island.

Smackdown was crazy last night. i hated that Vince took Kofi Kingston out of the title match against Daniel Bryan. but, when he put Kevin Owens in the match instead, i lost my shit. KO is one of my favorites of the last decade easily. i can't wait for Fastlane now. the whole show was great.

205 Live was really good last night as well.

The Voice was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, the season finale of The Masked Singer, You're the Worst and Drop the Mic. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i watched NXT UK this afternoon. it was very good.

i didn't get to see the Manchester United game against Crystal Palace this afternoon. i tried to follow it online as i was sending out poems. i was a little worried about the game given all the injuries United has. silly me, Ole is at the wheel. United won 3-1.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Tampa Bay. it will be interesting to see how the Rangers play now after the trades.

the Yankees lost to Detroit today 10-4. probably a good thing i didn't watch that.

a sping snowstorm

at one point this afternoon, i couldn't see more than 10 feet down the lane. luckily, none of this snow was really sticking on anything other than the grass. a dusting at most. but, with the wind, i don't think of spring when it feels like 18 degrees out.

sadly, i did watch most of Manchester United's loss to City today. it's a bit disheartening when you realize that they have better players at nearly every position. i was surprised they only beat us 3-0. the summer transfer period can't get here fast enough.

the New York Rangers started off the game last night against the Coyotes asleep. thankfully, they woke up and showed the kind of fight i've been looking for from this team for awhile now. but, now that they have it, they better play like this for the rest of the season and the playoffs. a HUGE 4-3 win in OT to get 2 much needed points and move ahead of the Flyers in the standings. they happen to play each other on Wednesday, which should be a bloody affair.

The Voice last night was pretty good from what i saw. not sure yet what to think of this season. i think i will wait until the live shows to see who i really like.

the last hour of Monday Night Raw saved the show from being just three hours of absolute shit. i credit The Shield and Cesaro for making the night somewhat memorable. i feel sorry for The Shield though, they're going to have to carry those three geezers at Wrestlemania. i have no doubts they can, but they would be better used in a better match.

as for tonight, i'll watch The Voice and probably the 2 shows after it and then either write or hit the shower. i suppose i might squeeze in some baseball as that starts up here soon. i'm not used to still being invested in college basketball at this time when everything else is going on. opening day for the Yankees is a few days away and i'm busy wondering how Dayton is going to beat Stanford on Thursday night. not that i'm complaining about it. i wish this distraction would happen more often.

that's all for me. i guess we have another cold day and then it is supposed to get to the 50's and 60's around here. i'll believe it when i see it.

hope everyone is well. i'll be on here tomorrow in the afternoon sometime i suppose. unless i decide to do some writing. then, i'll be on here before the Rangers play.

peace and chicken grease bitches...

a weekend ruined

after a few deep breaths, i look back and suppose this is the price we Manchester United fans are having to pay for all the years of glory. today's game ran the entire chart of emotions. happy to see old faces, utterly disappointed to be losing to a team at the bottle of the table, to the utter disgust that the lead was over a hour long, to jubilation when RVP scored, to pure elation when Carrick scores seconds later, to the bottom of hell when Fulham gets a goal in "Fergie" time. 2-2 against that team is beyond unacceptable. i shutter to think what Wednesday is going to look like at Arsenal. if i had a white flag, i'd be waving. i can't see any chance of ending up in 4th place now. the only way United plays in the Champions League next year is by winning it this year. and honestly, the only manager capable of pulling that off this year is sitting in the stands.

the pain will be a bit sharper the rest of the day, i can guarantee that.

i didn't sleep well at all last night. we had a cold front moving through and it was killing my body all night long. i tried to stay up to watch ROH but fell asleep in the middle of it. thankfully, wrestling fans post results to everything on the internet, so at least i know what i missed.

the Dayton Flyers surprised me yesterday with an unlikely win at St. Bonaventure, 72-69. especially when they were trailing by 5 with 4 minutes left or so. that's when i looked over at my mom and said they've got 'em right where they want 'em. when Dayton won, i kept telling her over and over, i told you, i told you... that was a nice victory beer.

not sure how i'm going to manage my Sunday viewing schedule tonight. i want to watch that Beatles special but that means all my regular Sunday shows are going to be shuffled back into the middle of the night. not that i won't be up or anything, i'm simply trying to plan which shows am i going to fall asleep in the middle of. hopefully, if we do end up moving, we get that DIRECTV whole home DVR. that would solve these god damn dilemmas. that being said, there's no fucking way i'm falling asleep during True Detective. i LOVE that show.

i suppose i should go eat lunch as i have pills to take. this is the downside of being a sports fanatic. the lows can get really fucking low, especially when you have a neck and left arm that is killing you slowly. i swear my left thumb is permanently numb. haven't had any damn feeling in it for 2 fucking weeks now. i imagine that will be a poem somewhere down the line.

and speaking of poems, i didn't do the 15 poems like i should have done last night. instead, as the pain was torturing me, i did a little shopping at amazon.com. i decided i was going to buy music from artists i have never bought before. i'm looking forward to hopefully finding some new bands to obsess over. i feel sorry for the fucker that has to fill the order though. i think i hit nearly every genre there is. and thanks to Christmas and my birthday, it didn't cost me a thing.

see all the good shit you have ruined this weekend in my life David Moyes.

i fed the cats this morning in the snow. that wasn't fun. the cats weren't exactly thrilled to see the snow either. i believe we have crossed the 40 inches of snow this winter. we still have a fucking month of this shit to go. hopefully it all melts slowly into the ground and the crops are wonderful this summer because of it. that's really the only good i can make out of this miserable fucking winter.

that's it. i need to eat. enough of my rambling for today. i hope everyone is well. you are surely better off than me.

peace and chicken grease.

is it really summer?

i woke up this morning and it was 49 degrees outside. the only way i know it is August is the calendar.

i spent the majority of last night completing tearing myself down. so, today has mostly been building myself back up. so far, so good.

the Yankees showed life last night, winning 14-7. the most runs they have scored since April. hats off to Soriano with 2 HR and a career high 6 RBI. most of it was needed as CC tried his hardest to piss the game away. but, that makes 3 wins in a row and 4 out of 5. only 5 1/2 out in the wildcard. that is doable. Nova is on the mound tonight. hopefully another win is coming.

Hard Knocks was excellent again last night. i loved the pace of the episode. it flew by. also, the behind the scenes shit is great.

tonight will be a little tricky for me in my television viewing. Big Brother at 8. then, who knows at 9. then the dilemma. the new season of Duck Dynasty starts at the same time the Bridge is on. after a quick look at the guide, thank god FX shows a repeat of The Bridge at 11. so, looks like my night is set.

i've started planning on what i'm going to write for the 14 poems i need to crank out. i'm hoping to get that going tomorrow and just ride the wave.

that's all for today. i will leave you with some YouTube videos i use to build myself back up.

how i spent Super Bowl weekend

when i had back spasms last night as i was doing the dishes, i was really hoping the next weather system was going to get through here real soon. as i type, it is snowing sideways outside. damn good thing i got the cats fed before all this shit started.

big sports weekend, of course. the 49ers really let me down. thankfully, i didn't have any money on the game. i did like that the game got really good after the power outage. best thing of that was not having to hear those assholes Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. there are days when i would prefer to be deaf. any Super Bowl on CBS since the Summerall and Madden days have just stunk from a broadcast sense. "hello friends, please don't allow my smug ass holy shit huge ego get in the way of me and my partner doing our best to ruin this game for you." not that i have an opinion or anything. as for the commercials, i did like a few of them. i would say the farmer one was probably my favorite. although, 'i'd fold your panties any day' would be a close second. of course, that's the perv inside of me talking.

got a nice, unexpected win from the New York Rangers Saturday night. amazing what can happen when you play with discipline and constantly engage the opponent. didn't see the trade of Mike Rupp coming but at first blush, i do like it. get 2 younger players at the same price. win.

i am really hoping that the Dayton Flyers have found rock bottom. a total, embarrassing ass whipping at St. Louis on Saturday afternoon. holy shit, it was hard to watch. when the best part is a walk-on hitting a 3, you can just imagine my frustration. sadly, i have no clue if this is bottom or not. next game is on Wednesday. i guess i'm going, not really sure yet. and just ask anyone that knows me, if i'm at that stage during a season, all damn hope is lost.

thankfully, earlier Saturday Wayne Rooney gave Manchester United a very exciting 1-0 win. if the goalies would have been off their games, the game easily could have been 5-4. the lead is now 9 points in the Premier League. i won't be counting my eggs just yet after last year, but i feel pretty damn good about the chances of the title this year.

got a weird, but really cool email on Sunday night from Eric Kennedy, editor of Hidden Animals. he was writing all the writers who were to have work appear in Electric Poet. i remember having work accepted by that zine a long while back but never saw anything. apparently, Eric was one of those writers as well and wants to have a special section at his new zine dedicated to that work. so, i found those poems, eventually, and sent them to him. would be nice to see those poems find a nice home. i will be sure to post any news on that front here on the blog. you can find more about Hidden Animals at
http://www.hiddenanimalslit.com/.

been catching bits and pieces of Trainspotting on Showtime the last few days. one of those movies that i have to stop and watch nearly every time i see it on. of course, it brings back my behind closed doors addiction to 90's electronic music. so, you can imagine what is going on in my head for the last few days.

just a quick reminder, my first full length collection of poetry, "Sofisticated White Trash" is getting really close to being finished. when it hits the streets, be prepared for me whoring it around like a pusher. and if i seem more annoying than usual, my apologies in advance.

the aftermath and then some random bullshit

so after a night of shit sleep if you can call it sleep at all (more like what if Cally wouldn't of hit the post, what if Fatso wouldn't have stopped Richards, what if we had a power play that could score, etc, etc.) and then some bizarre dream of me in high school but being cool and confident, there really was only one thing to listen to this morning.

John Lee Hooker - The Best of Friends
Son House - The Original Delta Blues

the playoff beard is now some funky goatee. my hair is back to permanent bed head. somehow the sun did come up. and man, it's fucking hot. if anyone has any rain to send my way, please do so. crops were planted 2 weeks ago or more and it hasn't rained a drop. if this keeps up... well, you can imagine the bitching and whining coming.

is it a coincidence that i took all my Yankees out of my fantasy baseball lineups and they now have won 4 games in a row. i think not. they won't be coming back on my teams anytime soon.

congrats to the University of Dayton baseball team on their first A10 championship and their first trip to the NCAA tournament.

nice win by team USA tonight over Scotland. didn't know the team had 5 goals in them. very nice.

looking forward to watching Kevin Steen and Davey Richards tonight on ROH. oh yes, i've been a fan of pro wrestling for over 30 years. so don't be shocked when i write about it. i've earned the sophisticated white trash label, it's not a gimmick for me.

so, i guess, all in all, while the loss still burns me and makes me feel numb and wish to die, it's not the end of the world. there's always next year, as i've said each year since 1994. one day, hopefully.
