waiting for the rain

so when i woke up this morning with my back feeling like an elephant slept on it, i figured it had rained some overnight. sure enough, it did. then the sun came out and made shit sticky as hell. that only means the thunderstorms this afternoon will have more force behind them. good times.

mom found a box this morning as she was going through her room. she called me into her room and gave it to me. much to my surprise, it was some of my father's shit. a couple of really nice watches. and after i moved those out of the way, the oh shit moments started. i was now looking at the medals he got while serving in Vietnam. then his dog tags. then some money from China and Vietnam. a necklace from his high school baseball team. as i'm sitting there somewhat stunned, i believe my mother put it best. he really did just leave his whole damn life behind. the box is now tucked away in my closet. i have no fucking clue what i'm going to do with it.

here's some music, please enjoy:

i spent a good portion of this morning finding FREE music on NoiseTrade. i'll provide those links below in the music section.

the New York Yankees lost last night 5-3. they play this afternoon in Boston. hopefully they finish out the last game before the All-Star break with a win.

Power was excellent last night. the ending was really, really good. to see the look on Angela's face when she finally put two and two together was fucking perfect.

as tempted as i was to get the UFC fight last night, i didn't. i guess i missed one hell of a ppv.

i did catch ROH this morning. good thing i had it on the DVR as i was so damn tired i fell asleep after the first match last night. the show was excellent as always. the main event set up what should be a great match for their 200th episode next week.

ladies and gentlemen, some poetry:

i'm hoping the storms don't get too bad today. and i am especially hoping they don't fuck up the satellite feed tonight. the evening will start off with Big Brother. from there, it will be absolute chaos. all of these shows are on tonight, The Strain, True Detective, The Brink, Ballers, Last Week Tonight, Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. the DVR will be busy tonight.

on top of all that, since it will be raining, i won't be shocked when mom decides she wants to do some shit around the house. especially since she knows if we're going to get a second car, we should probably clean out a spot for it in the garage first. good times.

i hope everyone has a good Sunday. live it up boys and girls, you never know how many more you have in ya.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

the long summer nights

when i woke up at 10 this morning, nearly 3 hours later than i usually do, i wasn't more refreshed or energetic. it was sort of like that groggy feeling when you get too much sleep. i was up pretty late fucking around with trying some charcoal art. no luck there but i think i may have come up with a logo for this blog. one of these days i'll actually post it on here and see what everyone thinks. i like it, so the important part is covered.

when i heard the LeBron news yesterday, i was a little surprised. when i read his essay on si.com about returning, it really hit home. here is a link to it:
http://www.si.com/nba/2014/07/11/lebron-james-cleveland-cavaliers

as an Ohio kid that played basketball in this state, it really hit home. now, i got nowhere near to the level LeBron has reached, but still. i get what it is to be from this state, to be tied to it, to know the hardship and the level of despair that destroys each damn day. as one asshole on tv put it, this was a letter to other Ohioans. he was right. so, as much as i loved the heel turn LeBron took 4 years ago, i suppose it is time to fly the old colors again and go back to being a babyface. now, if he does end up bringing Cleveland a title for the first time in over half a century, he'll do more than just be a king. he will have stepped into the deity level of sports. as for that, i'll believe it when i see it.

another piece of my childhood is dead. http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/07/r-i-p-tommy-ramone-drummer-of-the-ramones/

the Yankees got out to yet another lead last night. and once again, were incapable of making it bigger. and once again, blew that lead. and once again, lost in extra innings, 3-2. it's a tough pill to swallow when you see guys that shouldn't be even in the majors shutting down guys making millions of dollars. they play again this afternoon. i'm going to do my best to avoid it.

mostly because it is on at the same time as the World Cup 3rd place game between Netherlands and Brazil. i really hope both teams just say fuck it and put on an offensive display for the ages. that would be fun to watch.

also tonight, i'll hopefully be up late enough to watch another episode of ROH.

i guess i should get out to feed the cats before they get too pissed that it's later than normal. it's bad enough that they treat the entire fucking farm as their litter box.

maybe if i get a wild hair up my ass, i'll take some more photos outside. if i do that, i'll be sure to get the possible new logo for this blog as well.

hope this finds everyone well. remember to pour one for Tommy Ramone.

be well. be creative. be generous and send me some money. be thoughtful and buy a book. be excited about life and go fuck someone, with their permission of course.

peace and chicken grease...

one way to waste the afternoon

so i saw this morning that i would be able to watch Rio's testimonial this afternoon online for free. so i signed up and watched. Manchester United was dreadful, and by dreadful i'm being kind, in the first half. the second half didn't start much better. now keep in mind they were playing a Sevilla side that played last night! after about 60 minutes, they finally woke up. problem was they were already down 2-0. in the end, Manchester United loses 3-1. i truly hope this isn't how this season is going to go. the Community Shield against Wigan is this Sunday. it can only go up from here, i hope.

Wilfred last night reminded me why i don't do family christmas bullshit.

as for Big Brother, i'm really disappointed that Judd was the second eviction of the night. the females in the house are bound and determined to get all the guys out. the damn show is already at the point of being unfuckingwatchable as it is.

i didn't watch much of the preseason NFL games last night. all i'm interested in is who gets injured. it's getting close to fantasy draft time.

the Yankees are back home tonight against a Detroit team that hasn't lost in 2 weeks. i smell a human sacrifice coming on. of course, if the Yankees have any fucking pride at all, they will at least make these games competitive.

i heard back from my buddy Guntaj at Miracle Magazine on my recent poetry submission. one of my poems have made the first cut so far. i should know in a few weeks if it will be in issue #7. submissions are still open by the way.

today was as muggy as possible. nothing like walking outside to feed the animals and be instantly covered in sweat. and i learned a little something today. groundhogs eat cat food. looks like another phone call to critter control will be coming up soon. the groundhogs are staying in the den the raccoon that was caught was living in. if it's not one thing it's another...

depending how the Yankees game goes tonight, i think i'm going to try to knock out those 3 poems i need to write late tonight. i figure i should be nice and pissed off and need a release...

i do hope everyone has a good weekend.

the more things change...

i've had an interesting few days with Frontier Communications. they admitted that the farm is technically 0.02 miles outside of the high speed internet coverage area yet couldn't answer why the fuck did they sell us the service to begin with. and then they made the mistake of telling my mother that the service has been upgraded and nothing else is planned. well, i imagine after a few emails and angry phone calls from a woman that would love to work from her home instead of going into the hospital for everything, some shit may change here soon. shockingly, the service has been good so far this morning. amazing how the squeaky wheel always gets some grease.

it was good to see Derek Jeter back yesterday for the Yankees. he did a little of everything while at the DH spot in the lineup. they won 8-4 to split the series. and it wouldn't be this year's Yankees if the captain didn't have to leave the game late with quad tightness. give me a fucking break already. he has a MRI later today i guess. i have no clue if he'll play tonight against the Twins.

Wilfred made me laugh as always last night. i always wonder the amount of pot smoked when writing that show.

i did watch Big Brother last night. was expecting the one guy flipping, but not the second. the real fun came after Helen won the HOH and the mean side of the house decided to strike first before they get put on the block. and it's always funny to watch a racist who doesn't understand that she is racist. it was very close to a mini race riot last night on Big Brother After Dark. i would love to see how CBS would have shit their pants if that would have happened.

i did sneak in a little of the Gold Cup last night while managing my frustration of not being able to check my email. looking forward to watching team USA tomorrow.

and it looks like i'll be getting up earlier than i thought as Manchester United will be playing in Asia in the morning. i saw where they had to send Wayne Rooney home with an injured hamstring. if it's not one thing it's the other. fucking incredible. i'm still hopeful they sign someone useful here soon but i'm growing increasingly doubtful it's going to happen.

i will be mowing some grass here in a few hours. thought i'd take advantage of a rare dry day that's only going to get into the low 80's with comfortable humidity in July. it's mostly weeds except for a few spots.

and thankfully i was finally able to shit this morning. i went 42 hours without one. i will say this about Imodium... it really fucking works with me. almost too good.

didn't write anything last night but i am planning on it over the weekend. and i'm hoping to hear back from a few places as well. got a few print submissions i know i need to make here soon.

that's pretty much it. hope everyone has a great weekend.

the aftermath and then some random bullshit

so after a night of shit sleep if you can call it sleep at all (more like what if Cally wouldn't of hit the post, what if Fatso wouldn't have stopped Richards, what if we had a power play that could score, etc, etc.) and then some bizarre dream of me in high school but being cool and confident, there really was only one thing to listen to this morning.

John Lee Hooker - The Best of Friends
Son House - The Original Delta Blues

the playoff beard is now some funky goatee. my hair is back to permanent bed head. somehow the sun did come up. and man, it's fucking hot. if anyone has any rain to send my way, please do so. crops were planted 2 weeks ago or more and it hasn't rained a drop. if this keeps up... well, you can imagine the bitching and whining coming.

is it a coincidence that i took all my Yankees out of my fantasy baseball lineups and they now have won 4 games in a row. i think not. they won't be coming back on my teams anytime soon.

congrats to the University of Dayton baseball team on their first A10 championship and their first trip to the NCAA tournament.

nice win by team USA tonight over Scotland. didn't know the team had 5 goals in them. very nice.

looking forward to watching Kevin Steen and Davey Richards tonight on ROH. oh yes, i've been a fan of pro wrestling for over 30 years. so don't be shocked when i write about it. i've earned the sophisticated white trash label, it's not a gimmick for me.

so, i guess, all in all, while the loss still burns me and makes me feel numb and wish to die, it's not the end of the world. there's always next year, as i've said each year since 1994. one day, hopefully.
