mom wanted me to wake her up at 9:30 this morning for her 11 AM meeting with her financial planner. i was up at 6:45, so i could get all my shit done and have breakfast in me by 9:30. everything went to plan until the actual meeting. mom can't see well enough to do anything on her iPad other than play games. her regular computer is shit and mine has that fucking hum, so we had no choice but to use her iPad for this meeting. eventually, i got everything set up for her. i swear, i feel like an IT guy on call. once everything got set up and running, the meeting went fine. her financial planner does a really good job of communicating with mom so she knows what is going on. better, he makes sure i know what is going on since i have power of attorney.
quick tv update in the living room. we believe it might be the sound bar that is fucking up. we get the picture fine but the sound is all fucked up. so yeah...

so, i did something last night that i have been dreading, but i know it has to be done. since there is colon cancer on both sides of my family, i had to get a stool sample in the mail so they can test it. i know the odds are never in my favor when the backstory is what it is. but, i wanted to get it done before i go to my doctor's appointment next week. good times.
i woke up late this morning. that will be the last time i can do that for the next few days. i only went to the local grocery store today. after i got home from that, i did the dishes and checked the tires on the Highlander. the air pressure was fine in all of them, but the cap to the air gauge on the right front tire was missing. fuck me. thankfully, there is an auto parts store next to Rite Aid. i went there and the lady working knew exactly where i wanted to go to find what i was looking for. $2 later and i had 4 caps for the tires. it fit and i know now i have an auto parts store that i can go to and feel like they know what they are talking about.
the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night, losing at home to Toronto, 7-3.
NXT was very good last night.
The Masked Singer was the holiday sing along last night. basically, it was the background music when i was picking up the trash.
Inside the NFL was excellent last night.
The Voice was good last night. the three i have in my finals were the first three announced for the finals, so i felt pretty happy with that. i always think i have a good eye for talent.
Hard Knocks was excellent last night.
Big Brother: Reindeer Games was very good last night.

i got the news of the shooting yesterday in Texas while i was eating a late lunch. as the night went on and the death total increased, i just sort of slumped in my chair in complete apathy. nothing ever fucking changes in this country. and as much as i would love to say thoughts and prayers to the victims families etc., that is just so fucking trite anymore. and we all know, contacting your senators does fucking nothing. you have to vote out all the clowns if you ever want change and that won't happen either. i jokingly told mom that the Democrats should bait the Republicans and put forth gun reform they actually would vote for. just write a bill that no non-white person in this country can legally own a gun. the Republicans would jump at the chance to pass that in a heartbeat, just to say they did do something about gun reform. there is no fucking reason on this fucking earth that anyone should own an AR-15. let alone be legally allowed to buy one on their 18th birthday. and for once, i would love if someone would actually mention the need to heavily invest in mental health in this country. i haven't written any poems about all this shit yet, but i'm sure they will come eventually.
mom's appointment yesterday went well. i have to take her tomorrow to get some blood drawn before she does her physical therapy. and sometime they should be calling to set up an appointment with a psychiatrist. her doc and i both agreed that there needs to be a little mental health aspect to all of this as well. i think it could just be a tweak of her meds that could do the trick. it is obvious they aren't doing much for depression at the moment.
the New York Rangers defeated Carolina last night, 4-1, to even their series at 2-2. it is a best of 3 now. if the Rangers can get a win in Carolina, hopefully on Thursday, then they will have the chance to win the series at MSG. Carolina hasn't won a road playoff game yet.
the Yankees won last night over Baltimore, 7-6 in 11 innings. hopefully, they will win the series tonight.

at least i got the grocery shopping done before the fucking rain came today.
the local grocery store was taking cash only today. so, i didn't shop there as i hardly have any cash on me anymore. so, i got everything on the list at Kroger this week. as i told mom when i got home, i kept it under $200.
i'm going to try to be on here in the morning tomorrow. if not then, it will be after i get back home from taking mom to physical therapy.

i heard from my good friend Janne Karlsson today. i hadn't heard from him for months, so that made me happy. so, of course, we talked about death and joked about it, etc. i think we both know the temptation of suicide, especially since neither one of us are rich enough to never have to think about such things. but, i did write 3 poems after our conversation. Janne has always loved my poetry and has helped me get it out there, mostly due to my refusal to ever be on Facebook. so, thank you once again my friend.
Vice News Tonight had another great two shows this week.
AEW Dynamite was excellent last night. i love a company that shows just how great tag team wrestling can be when done correctly.
Batwoman was really good last night.
i got my order from Topps.com today, both of them actually. i got a Columbus Crew card for FREE and i got a box of that Mickey Mantle set they were selling last week. i did get a numbered card in the pack i bought, so that made me happy.
and amazingly, the last gift i got for my sister actually arrived today from Asia. so now, i am done with getting shit for Christmas. good times.

it has rained here for most of the day. this has been a house of misery for the most part. i think it is supposed to rain for most of tomorrow as well. joy.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i think i will be going to Big Lots at some point tomorrow. i know mom wants to find something to cover the back patio furniture. of course, i suppose i need to measure that shit first before i go. have i mentioned how i hate the rain?

so, Manchester United lost yesterday in the Europa League final to Villarreal 1-1 (11-10) in one of the crazier penalty shootouts i have ever seen. given some time to think about shit, i might be even more upset today than i was in the moment yesterday. i saw in the papers from Manchester this morning that on 3 different occasions, David de Gea went with his gut instead of what he was told to do while trying to make saves. if one of those times is a save, then United wins the damn thing and it never comes down to the goalies taking shots. and honestly, he's been at the club for a decade now, it is time to move on.
the Yankees were rained out last night so they are playing a doubleheader today against Toronto.
the finale of The Masked Singer was very good last night. i did guess the Piglet correct.
i did watch the Friends reunion special on HBO Max earlier today. i thought it was pretty good and certainly brought back some memories.
it was fucking pouring yesterday while i was grocery shopping. arthritis won the day for sure. i didn't get home until around 3:20. i did find some hockey cards yesterday. i got a rookie box set from Upper Deck. 25 cards of all the top rookies from this past season.

so the Yankees had some injury news come out yesterday. Corey Kluber has been shut down for 2 months with his shoulder strain. not a good sign. Luke Voit is out with a Grade 2 injury to his oblique. that's probably a good 2 months there as well. add that into the Manchester United misery from yesterday and you should know by now that yesterday was one of those days i would love to forget it ever happened. sadly, i'm not blessed with that ability.
i will probably be on here tomorrow in the afternoon. i think mom might want to go out shopping tomorrow at Big Lots. not sure yet. it all kind of depends on how she is feeling in the moment. i have learned there are no such thing as plans as you get closer to death.
i did see team USA win at the Hockey Worlds today over Latvia, 4-2.

your poet of the day for National Poetry Month is Ebony Stewart. she is my favorite female poet of all-time. i highly recommend everything she has ever done or will do with her poetry.

so, first i went to the post office today to take a package of clothing mom had to send back. she's lost so much weight that clothes she bought just a few weeks ago are too big now. after that, i went to the bank. i always love when Alexis is working. to hear a fine ass black woman ask how are you today Mr. Campbell... good times. after that, i went to Big Lots because mom decided at the last minute she wants Diet Coke in the small cans (3 days after she said she wanted it in the plastic bottles). of course, Big Lots had no Diet Coke in the small cans. she then texted me that she wanted a cheese ball for the weekend. so, i had a decision to make. go to Kroger and forgot about trying to find some baseball cards. or... of course i went to go look for the cards first. i had to drive 20 minutes out of my way and thankfully, i did find some baseball cards at Rite Aid. i got 1 Fairfield Box and 2 2021 Topps Series 1 packs. i paid $14 total for everything. i got way more than $14 worth of cards. after that, i drove all the way back to Kroger. i had to get mom's new pills. thankfully, they had the small Diet Coke cans on sale. and i found a cheese ball that had a reasonable amount of sodium in it. i then made the drive home, a couple hours after i left. joy.
i will probably be on here tomorrow before the Yankees play in the afternoon.
i do hope everyone has a great weekend.

i was going out to get the paper this morning and the garage door only went halfway up. fucking great. stress neither my mother or i fucking needed today. i guess the coils fucking snapped. cost $400 to get that fixed today. but, it has a 10 year warranty on it. hopefully, it lasts longer than that.
my new mouse worked perfectly today getting the poems out. that spared me so much fucking pain. i sent out 26 poems today. 3 each to Rusty Truck and Red Eft Review (1 already accepted); 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, Synchronized Chaos (already accepted), Misfit Magazine and Fourth & Sycamore. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

so i got up this morning, showered and was ready to go have a camera put down my throat to check my upper GI. the doctor's office called and asked if i could come early. i said yeah. so, my sister and i headed to the hospital. i checked in, filled out the paperwork. a few minutes later, i got called to the back. i filled out more paperwork, signed a few things and changed clothes, etc. etc. then, the anesthesiologist came in and voiced her concerns. she started out making sure i wouldn't take this the wrong way about my weight, which i immediately knew was going to be some bullshit about being fat, and that was exactly what it was. she was uncomfortable about doing the procedure because of my weight. she was afraid i would die and they don't have anything on hand to bring me back. i almost told her to just roll the fucking dice, i've lived enough. my blood pressure and oxygen levels were fine. the doctor came in and apologized, said he didn't think it was going to be a big deal. so, i had to get dressed and wait 10 fucking minutes for them to take me back to the front so i could reschedule the procedure at a hospital. mind you, this place is technically a hospital, but more thought of as outpatient facility. so, i'm sitting there and the woman that does the scheduling tells me they are already scheduling out to February 2020, so she couldn't do anything for me. i left, got my sister in the waiting room, and i was fucking fuming. did they not know i was heavy in the 3 previous visits to the office? my sister was truly fucking pissed. she took a day off of work to do this for me. i drove home so i could finally eat breakfast before noon. mom was a little stunned to see us back so soon.
now, part two of my venting. the battery on my car keys had died, so i went to the place where i got the lifetime guarantee to have it replaced. i was a little concerned, since my mother's name was on the card. thankfully, that didn't matter and within 5 minutes of walking in, i was walking out with a fresh battery and no charge at all. i went and got what mom wanted for lunch and she told me that the doctor's office called. i checked the message after i got done with lunch. so, two fucking hours after i sat there and they said they couldn't schedule anything, they called and gave me the number to call to schedule it. i wouldn't be pissed if the number was something other than the office number to have them schedule an appointment for you. and to top of all the bullshit today, the orthopedic doctor i was supposed to see in November about my fucked up neck isn't going to be in the office on the day of my appointment. so, i need to call them and reschedule.
and as much as i try not to do this, these are the days i punish myself for not following through on the purest thought i had when i was 8 years old. i imagine i will call the places tomorrow morning before i have physical therapy. or maybe i won't call them back at all. maybe tonight is the night i dance with Dylan Thomas and we see which fucker makes it under the table first.
the New York Rangers lost in OT last night to Arizona, 3-2. oh well, that's 5 losses in a row now.
The Voice was pretty good last night.

i'm probably going to do the blog after my physical therapy session tomorrow, unless i get a wild hair up my ass and do it in the morning.
and i get the feeling i may have to unleash some shit on some empty pages tonight.
ah, the life of a poet. every memory is a fucking scar on my brain and i'm chasing shadows that relish every chance they get to fuck me over. imagine the tragedy if i was actually loved.
now, i know it's a rhetorical question, mostly because the asshole that runs this country is fucking stupid and doesn't give two shits about anything other than himself, but how the hell do you pull a Ron Burgundy and simply read the teleprompter (clearly against your will) and say prayers for the shooting victims in Toledo, about 150 miles away from where the mass shooting in Dayton happened? i really hope his own staff is fucking with him, hoping the 25th amendment gets invoked so this shit show can be over, but i doubt that's the case. if the asshole has to be the smartest guy in the room, i can just imagine the fucking idiots he surrounds himself with. i did love what one person said online, how he said Toledo because he was hedging his bets on when a mass shooting happens there.
after seeing more about the asshole that killed 9 in the Oregon District, i think it's clear he's one of these fucking Incel assholes. he had a hit list, a rape list as well when he was in high school. i'm really happy the Dayton police put out the video of them killing him when he was trying to get in the bar to kill more people. now, i didn't need to have the candlelight vigil last night interrupt most of Big Brother, but i understand. between the KKK rally, the tornadoes and now this shit, i think this area just needs a fucking break.
i did write a poem today, mostly about all this shit. i typed it up and i think it's really good. i'll probably include it with some other poems when i send out the first poetry submissions of the month later this week.
the New York Yankees completed the sweep of Boston last night with a 7-4 victory. it was good to hear the Who's Your Daddy? chants once again. the Yankees start a series tonight at Baltimore.
the season finale of Euphoria last night was great, heartbreaking, exciting, etc. etc. i can't fucking wait to see what season 2 brings.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.
City on a Hill was good last night, and then had a holy shit ending. loved it.
i got to see maybe the first minute of Big Brother and then maybe the last 45 seconds or so of the show. i know that Jessica is the HOH. i know she nominated Jack and Michie. Jessica also won the POV and didn't use it, which means one of the alpha males is going to be the first member of the jury house.
