it was really fucking hot today, just like yesterday. and it is supposed to continue into tomorrow. great.
the New York Yankees won last night, over Tampa, 2-0. hopefully, they will win again tonight.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

so, let me start off where this thing left off at yesterday.
i went to Rite Aid to get my pills. only one prescription was ready. apparently, i called the other two in a day early and they were waiting to fill it so insurance would pay for it. as much as i hate those fucking rules, i do understand. after that, i made my way to the place to get my haircut. there was a 30 minute wait or so. i didn't mind since i was in the air conditioning. of course, just my luck, i was behind a family of 6 getting haircuts. fuck me. eventually, i got my haircut. it certainly feels really good to get the mop that was growing on my head cut off. now, it is back to how i prefer. the hair on my chin is longer than the hair on my head. the stylist that did it is pregnant, so i gave her a very nice tip. she appreciated it.
after that, i went to McDonald's to get my mother a frozen Coke. there was no line, so that made me really happy. after i got home, took a shower and then started doing the dishes. about halfway through the dishes, it started to storm. and then the power went out. it was out for about 10 minutes or so and then came back on. i hurried up and got the dishes done and set all the clocks again.
at 8 last night, right as i was getting ready to watch Monday Night Raw, the power went out again. this time, it was out for over 2 hours. i made sure mom and i both had flashlights. we both recalled all the horror stories of when the power used to go out at the farm. at least where we live now, you can actually flush the toilet more than just one time during a power outage. so, while the power was out, i got a little reading done and wrote one poem. i typed that poem up late last night. i think it is pretty good.
i caught the last hour of Monday Night Raw. i watched most of the highlights on YouTube last night. i certainly don't think i missed much.
i tweaked my back last night in the shower. well, technically, it was around 4 AM, so i guess you could say this morning. but, i have been moving like an old ass man all day long today. that is why the blog is late. grocery shopping today was a chore to say the least. but, i did get everything on the list.
the New York Rangers lost last night at Tampa, 4-1. the series is now 2-2. so, now, it is a best of 3. two of those games are at home for the Rangers. hopefully, they win them. if they play like they did last night at home, the series will end before Game 7.
i hate the mornings where i wake up in pain before i do anything. that is the easiest way for me to know there is some rain in the area. and that is how i have felt all morning today. good times.
here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:
so, i woke up a little later than i wanted to this morning and it feels like i have been trying to catch up ever since. it is getting ready to rain here, so most of the anal retentive neighbors are trying to get their grass cut before it happens. mind you, most of them just mowed their lawns 2 or 3 days ago. this is what i fucking loved about living on the farm. i mowed the grass when it needed it, not just so the neighbors would think my grass looks pretty.
i had to go to 4 different stores today to get what was on the grocery list. i got all but 1 damn thing. i'll go out looking for that tomorrow when i have to go to the bank and get gas anyway.
the Yankees beat the Angels last night, 9-1. hopefully, they will do the same tonight.
so, i was fully engaged last night with Game 7 between the Rangers and Carolina. when the Rangers got 2 first period goals on the power play and Trouba knocked out one of Carolina's best players with a clean hit, i had a really good feeling. and by the end of the game, with mostly blue shirts in the stands shouting Let's Go Rangers, i was happy. the Rangers won Game 7 on the road, 6-2. that was Carolina's first loss at home all playoffs. now, the Rangers will host the Lightning in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at MSG. the Lightning will not be easy to beat that's for certain. they are trying to win their 3rd straight Stanley Cup. basically, it will be which Russian goalie plays best will win the series. i like the Rangers chances because they don't know any better at this point. let the youth lead you and climb onboard boys. i can't wait for tomorrow night.
i got the news of the shooting yesterday in Texas while i was eating a late lunch. as the night went on and the death total increased, i just sort of slumped in my chair in complete apathy. nothing ever fucking changes in this country. and as much as i would love to say thoughts and prayers to the victims families etc., that is just so fucking trite anymore. and we all know, contacting your senators does fucking nothing. you have to vote out all the clowns if you ever want change and that won't happen either. i jokingly told mom that the Democrats should bait the Republicans and put forth gun reform they actually would vote for. just write a bill that no non-white person in this country can legally own a gun. the Republicans would jump at the chance to pass that in a heartbeat, just to say they did do something about gun reform. there is no fucking reason on this fucking earth that anyone should own an AR-15. let alone be legally allowed to buy one on their 18th birthday. and for once, i would love if someone would actually mention the need to heavily invest in mental health in this country. i haven't written any poems about all this shit yet, but i'm sure they will come eventually.
mom's appointment yesterday went well. i have to take her tomorrow to get some blood drawn before she does her physical therapy. and sometime they should be calling to set up an appointment with a psychiatrist. her doc and i both agreed that there needs to be a little mental health aspect to all of this as well. i think it could just be a tweak of her meds that could do the trick. it is obvious they aren't doing much for depression at the moment.
the New York Rangers defeated Carolina last night, 4-1, to even their series at 2-2. it is a best of 3 now. if the Rangers can get a win in Carolina, hopefully on Thursday, then they will have the chance to win the series at MSG. Carolina hasn't won a road playoff game yet.
as a sports fan, i do a pretty good job of staying in the moment. the task at hand, etc. i do my best to apply that to my life. and i am trying to get mom to do that as well. my belief is when her mind starts to wander off into the distance, her auto-pilot is drunk and asleep at the wheel. that would explain the falls, etc. just a theory but it makes sense, at least in my eyes.
i wrote 2 poems while mom was in physical therapy yesterday. i typed those up after we ate lunch. she wanted an Orange Cream shake from Arby's, so we just got lunch from there. i tried that new Wagyu beef sandwich they have. it was really good. the poems were really good as well. i'm hoping to get another handful of poems written this week so i'll have plenty to choose from for the next round of submissions.
the New York Yankees lost to Baltimore last night, 6-4. that is 3 losses in a row for the Yankees. hopefully, they will end that fucking streak tonight.
so, i didn't get to bed until 4 this morning. i did mom a favor and got the dishes all washed. i was getting up to take a piss when i noticed her bathroom light on. i was going to go in and make a joke about our cycles matching up, etc. when i noticed she was on the floor. i asked her how she fell this time. thankfully, she didn't hit her head. what concerned me the most was we spent a hour of her forgetting how to crawl or move her legs to actually get up. after 30 minutes, i threatened to call the fire department. after a hour, i went through with my threat. now, i know this makes me the asshole son in her eyes, but so be it. they sent three firefighters out here and they got her up. the female helped mom go to the bathroom and get changed. mom refused to go to the hospital, which i understood since she wasn't cut anywhere. it was more than anything, her ego and pride were embarrassed and bruised. i told her after they left, since the precedent has been set, i'm not going to wait as long next time. i need to go get some better lighting for her bathroom as i fully believe this is all due to her shitty eyesight. and of course, since she really had to go, she didn't bother to use her new rollator. this threw my whole morning routine out the window. i thankfully got a little nap in after i had breakfast. that way i wasn't a complete fucking zombie today doing the grocery shopping.
the New York Yankees won last night at Baltimore, 5-4. hopefully tonight they will clinch yet another series victory.
so, i barely, and i mean, fucking barely, got mom to her appointment this morning on time. i dread anytime she has an appointment in the morning as my mother isn't fully functional before fucking noon. so, when i pulled into the parking lot at 10:14 for a 10:15 appointment, my adrenaline was pumping. so, it wasn't until the doctor came in that anyone mentioned her MRI results. and of course, that someone was me. the first thing the doctor wants to do is surgery. now, i know why he wants that, as that is how he makes the most money. mom has no interest in back surgery. so, he decided that she could continue her injections. they are going to try another spot to focus on to see if they do better for her. that will be in a few weeks. then we have a follow up visit a month after that. i'm really hoping the injection works this time. if not, i think back surgery might be the only hope mom will have given how severe her spinal stenosis is now.
i did make it to the bank after we got home. and i got gas as well. $53 to fill up. and that was with 50 cents off a gallon. fuck me runnin'.
the New York Yankees won last night in Baltimore, 6-2. hopefully, they will win again tonight. they are on a win pace right now that is insane, considering they are on the same pace the 1998 Yankees were on. that is the best baseball team i have ever seen play.
