i got up this morning and my bed looked like a war scene. i know that meant i must have tossed and turned all night long. good times.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both very good last night.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

so, i was up at 7 this morning, mostly because i knew i had to get mom up at 9 since Orkin was supposed to be here at 10. i always like having my breakfast done so we're not in each other's way in the kitchen. i made sure the Highlander was outside so they could get up in the attic. it was raining this morning, so basically the Highlander got washed. so, when Orkin got here, i was busy on the computer making sure i had all the coupons loaded on the Kroger card for grocery shopping later on. when i got that done, Orkin was already gone. mom told me he said there are definitely squirrels in the attic. he didn't have a ladder with him because he thought we had pull down stairs. he told mom that someone else would be out here later today to get up in the attic, set some traps, etc. etc. now, i went and did the grocery shopping. i came back this afternoon and knew just by the look on mom's face that no one from Orkin had shown up. two things royally piss me off in this world. ignorance and incompetence. i have no fucking patience for either. i know damn well why they are dragging their feet on getting up in the attic. the contract we signed states that if there is any damage to the insulation or anything up there, they have to pay for all repairs. the squirrels that aren't supposed to be able to survive with the insulation that is up there, have been up there for over a month now. and given that they haven't ended up in the trap attached to the hole they made in the soffit, there has to be another fucking way there are getting in and out. and this is after they swore they fortified the roof as well. now you know why there are no guns in this house.
mom made a scroll for a grocery list today. i got everything. there was no fucking way to keep it under $200 this week. at least i got $3 back on the booze i bought.
the Dayton Flyers won last night at home against UNLV, 66-65.
so, as a baseball fan, the walk off grand slam that Freddie Freeman hit last night was one of those plays you will probably remember forever. as a Yankees fan and watching he hit that grand slam against your team in Game 1 of the World Series, that was the epitome of a punch to the dick. Game 2 is tonight and honestly, the Yankees will need to win if they actually want to win this series.
so, today has been a bit crazy for me. we had some rain overnight, so my arthritis was crazy. even a weed gummy didn't help last night. when the rain finally ended this morning, i went to the bank to make a deposit. after the bank, i had to go to Kroger to get a prescription. apparently, my old Glimepiride prescription never got taken off, so they filled both 1mg and 4 mg. (i take the 4 mg now, have been for months) that lets me know that Rite Aid was basically doing nothing when i was getting my pills there. i got back home and had a little lunch before the Manchester United game was going to start.
now, i have really liked the changes that Manchester United has made to the team and coaching staff so far. they still need to be more clinical in the final third, but i can at least hope that gets better as the season goes along. Joshua Zirkzee came in the second half and scored his first United goal and won the game, 1-0. if they can keep some clean sheets this season and win games, i will be happy. plus, i put a little money on Zirkzee when he came in the game. so, him scoring that goal was a welcome little surprise.
so, let me start off with the most unexpected thing that happened yesterday. if i had known what was going to happen, i would have put more than fifty cents on the game. Manchester United defeated Manchester City yesterday, 2-1, to win the FA Cup. when Kobbie Mainoo scored to make it 2-0, i felt like i was in a fucking dream. Garnacho scored the first goal for United. to have both goals scored by 19 year olds is something that i hope means good things in the future. City scored late but it truly was a day to paint the town red. i have no clue if ETH keeps his job or not. i won't be surprised if they do fire him. hell, they have fired coaches before after winnings titles. if it was his last game as manager, that is probably the best way he could have gone out.
i have a pinched nerve in my left shoulder that is trying its hardest to rain on my fucking parade right now. but, i'm hoping i have enough Jack Daniels in me to get through this and give that pain the middle fucking finger.
the New York Rangers won last night at home against Florida, 2-1, in OT. that ties the series at 1-1. Game 3 is Sunday afternoon down in Florida.
mom wanted me to wake her up at 9:30 this morning for her 11 AM meeting with her financial planner. i was up at 6:45, so i could get all my shit done and have breakfast in me by 9:30. everything went to plan until the actual meeting. mom can't see well enough to do anything on her iPad other than play games. her regular computer is shit and mine has that fucking hum, so we had no choice but to use her iPad for this meeting. eventually, i got everything set up for her. i swear, i feel like an IT guy on call. once everything got set up and running, the meeting went fine. her financial planner does a really good job of communicating with mom so she knows what is going on. better, he makes sure i know what is going on since i have power of attorney.
quick tv update in the living room. we believe it might be the sound bar that is fucking up. we get the picture fine but the sound is all fucked up. so yeah...
AEW Dynamite was really good last night.
so, let me begin where this little adventure called life left off yesterday. i needed the top team in the Mexican soccer league to beat one of the worst ones to get a 5 team parlay to hit. so, i watched them lose at home to that lower team, 2-1. now, apparently, that set off a major case of bad mojo as most of my bets this morning are fucking losers. that includes Manchester United losing at home to Crystal Palace, 1-0. as soon as Palace scored this morning, i fucking turned the game off and got ready to go to the bank. this is going to be one of those days where i know i will need to be extra vigilant with my own anger.
the New York Yankees lost last night at Kansas City, 12-5. why does it feel like the Yankees are going to swept to end the season?
i often wonder when i string these 4 hour sleep nights together if i am going slowly insane or i am simply riding that wave to a different plane of thought, belief, etc. my ego tends to get stronger as the candle gets closer to burning out. i'm pretty sure that is insanity. but, it also tends to be the moments where i am the most calm. that delicate dance i suppose.
i did sit in on mom's meeting with her financial advisor today. she is better off than she realized, which should help her mental state. it also opened my eyes to the investment opportunities that will be coming soon. after that meeting, i had to go to the next town over to get money out of mom's checking account. 30 minutes roundtrip. i drove by the old farm. it looks so much different now.
the New York Knicks won last night at home over Houston, 137-115.
i went out to get the paper this morning and it was cold enough that the moment i got back into the house, i had to shit. one of those soul changing, was this what Elvis felt kind of shits. as you can tell, i'm ready for winter to be over.

the New York Rangers won last night at home over Seattle, 6-3. it was good to see Vladimir Tarasenko score on his second shift as a Ranger. the boys play tonight at Carolina.
so, i got some baseball cards today at Meijer. holy shit, i pulled another autograph card from a pack. i have never gone on a streak of two for two. the packs from Big Lots had an autographed basketball card in them. the packs today cost around $26. there was about $60 worth of cards in them. good times.
i didn't find everything i was looking for at Meijer. i did get plenty of coffee though. and luckily, Kroger had called to say that mom's pain pills were ready, so i picked those up on the way home.
the USMNT destroyed Panama last night, 5-1. that puts the boys just about into the World Cup. they need to avoid losing in Costa Rica on Wednesday by 5 or more goals. i think they should easily be able to do that. and once that happens, then they will automatically qualify for the World Cup.
both of the games yesterday in the Elite 8 weren't very close. the Final 4 is set. Duke will play North Carolina and Kansas will play Villanova.
