Happy Memorial Day...

i hope everyone has a good Memorial Day.

i sort of had this blog planned in my mind and then of course, life gets in the way. i was sort of stunned when i got the news today that Bill Walton had died. the true definition of being one of one. rest in peace big man. thank you for all the laughs.

the New York Rangers won yesterday at Florida, 5-4, in OT. they are now up 2-1 in the series. Game 4 is Tuesday night.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday at San Diego, 5-2. they are off today and start a series tomorrow night at the Angels.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

The Chi was very good last night.

the finale of The Sympathizer was excellent last night.

the finale of The Jinx Part 2 was very interesting last night.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

until then kids...

paint the town red...

so, let me start off with the most unexpected thing that happened yesterday. if i had known what was going to happen, i would have put more than fifty cents on the game. Manchester United defeated Manchester City yesterday, 2-1, to win the FA Cup. when Kobbie Mainoo scored to make it 2-0, i felt like i was in a fucking dream. Garnacho scored the first goal for United. to have both goals scored by 19 year olds is something that i hope means good things in the future. City scored late but it truly was a day to paint the town red. i have no clue if ETH keeps his job or not. i won't be surprised if they do fire him. hell, they have fired coaches before after winnings titles. if it was his last game as manager, that is probably the best way he could have gone out.

the New York Yankees won last night in San Diego, 4-1. they go for the sweep this afternoon.

WWE King and Queen of the Ring was good yesterday.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

AEW Collision was good last night.

Lady Gaga Chromatica Ball was very good last night:

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be the finale of The Sympathizer, the finale of The Jinx Part 2 and The Chi.

the New York Rangers play Game 3 this afternoon down in Florida. i'm hoping the boys find a way to win.

i'm sure i will watch some of the NBA playoffs today, as well as the Indy 500 and probably some of the NASCAR race as well.

we're supposed to have some strong storms come through today, so i imagine i will be on tornado watch as well. good times.

i need to go ice my back down and try to catch a nap before the Rangers play this afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

Happy Memorial Day...

Happy Memorial Day to everyone out there. hope you have a great day.

yesterday started off well enough here. and then mom had another fall. i'm not exactly sure what happened this time as i was getting a back massage in my chair. all i know is i heard a boom and looked into the kitchen and noticed my mother's rollator was on its side. i'm pretty sure she bruised her tailbone. she is still sore today.

Game 7 last night between Boston and Miami was good. the road team won, which gives me hope for the Rangers tonight.

i did watch a little of the Indy 500 and NASCAR last night.

VICE was very good last night.

The Man Who Fell To Earth was excellent last night.

Ziwe was great last night.

Barry was amazing last night.

The Baby was very good last night.

Gaslit was really good last night.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday at that fucking dump in Tampa, 4-2. they had to settle for a split in the series. they are off today and start a series at home tomorrow night against the Angels.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and Don't Forget the Lyrics.

the New York Rangers play Game 7 down in Carolina tonight. i think the nervous energy for me started this morning when i first woke up at 5:30. i'm really hoping the Rangers WIN tonight.

i do plan on watching some of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse national championship today between Maryland and Cornell.

i did listen to episode 397 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can listen to that by going here:

i often wonder how stupid people really are...

so, i had this woman ask me last night for the password to my PayPal account. just flat out ask me like i am so fucking stupid that i would give it to her. add that to the list why i could simply do without humanity on most days.

NXT Takeover XXX was very good last night. i was a little disappointed with the title change in the main event, but i am reserving judgment to see what happens. if it means Keith Lee is going to Raw or Smackdown and he's going to be a monster there, i'm fine with it. and hats off to Pat McAfee and Adam Cole for the job they did last night.

AEW was really good last night as well.

Austin City Limits was the Run The Jewels episode from a few years back that i accidentally deleted awhile back.

here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of The Chi, We Hunt Together, Desus & Mero, Big Brother, Lovecraft Country, The Vow and Last Week Tonight. i'll be watching WWE SummerSlam for most of the evening on WWE Network.

i will watch at least some of the Champions League final today.

and i know the Indy 500 is today as well.

throw in some of the NHL and NBA playoffs and you have my typical busy fucking Sunday.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i believe mom has a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning. joy.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday is even better.

not how i wanted to start the day...

first off, Happy Memorial Day to everyone.

i woke up in pain at 5 this morning. joy. i put on some CBD oil, hoping it would help me get some more sleep. eventually, along with some ice, i got a couple more hours out in my massage chair. that's the only place in the house where i can sleep on my back. when i'm in bed, i'm always on my side. that should paint the picture of how bad my back actually is. good times.

the New York Yankees were down 7-1 yesterday at the Royals. they fought back to make it 7-7 but eventually lost 8-7 in 10 innings. oh well, they were due for a stinker. they start a series at home this afternoon against San Diego.

the Indy 500 had a great finish yesterday.

i did watch some of the NASCAR race last night.

Finland defeated Canada yesterday, 3-1, to win the gold medal at the World Hockey Championships.

Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

Billions was very good last night.

The Chi was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final starts tonight. i will watch some of that as well.

in my only Memorial Day tradition any more, i'll be watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse national championship this afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Sunday. hopefully, your holiday Monday is a good one.

that's all for me kids. i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to see her financial planner south of town. if all goes well, we will be eating a late lunch down there as well.

hoping for a lazy Sunday...

i got some sleep last night, at least that's what i am going to call it. i went to bed after drinking some Jack Daniels and listening to LCD Soundsystem. i figured the emails could wait until the morning, all 147 of them.

the New York Yankees won both games of the doubleheader yesterday against the Royals, 7-3, 6-5. hopefully, they will sweep the series this afternoon.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

i did watch the AEW pre-show last night and saw some of the highlights from Double or Nothing. i loved what i saw. it strengthens my hope that AEW will be a great alternative to WWE. and having a nice shock ending doesn't hurt.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Our Cartoon President, Billions and The Chi.

i will probably watch a good portion of the Indy 500 and the NASCAR race tonight as well.

Canada plays Finland this afternoon in the Gold Medal game of the Hockey World Championships. Russia won the bronze this morning over the Czech Republic.

20 years ago today was one of the greatest days of my life as a Manchester United fan.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully, your Sunday will be even better.

old memories come back like a flood...

i was in my early 20's in a wild relationship that had me coming home most nights and either drinking, crying, hitting things, or all of the above. i would usually put on Whipping Post and play it way too loud. that was one of the joys of living alone at the farm. i literally could do whatever the fuck i wanted. when the news of Gregg Allman dying yesterday hit, all those memories came racing back to me. i would spend hours upon hours listening to The Allman Brothers, sitting out on the porch, writing poems, drowning my soul in cheap liquor, whatever. so goodbye to one of the greatest. go have fun with your brother once again. rest in peace.

the New York Yankees only had 2 hits yesterday. they somehow managed to beat the A's 3-2. hopefully they can win the series this afternoon.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Twin Peaks: The Return, Veep and Silicon Valley.

i will probably watch some of the Indianapolis 500 today, hoping that Juan Pablo Montoya can win another one.

and i will probably watch some of the Coca-Cola 600 tonight as well.

i've got the UFC from Sweden on the television as i'm typing this up. nothing like starting your Sunday off with some violence.

i wrote 3 poems last night. i typed them up last night as well. i really, REALLY like these 3. they will be part of my next submission, due to go out tomorrow morning.

i will probably watch a little of AS Roma's game today. Francesco Totti's last match is not one to miss.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

i guess sometimes you can drink yourself into a coma

i believe i only had one drink last night. it was a little strong, probably a little more spiced rum than usual, but nothing out of the ordinary. the thing is, after listening to a podcast last night and checking emails, i don't really remember what happened. all i know is i woke up this morning roughly 8 hours later. i guess i got the good shit yesterday.

the Champions League final yesterday was high drama. Real Madrid scored in the first half, even though the goal shouldn't have counted. (Ramos was offside). When Atletico missed the penalty kick in the 47th minute, i figured that they had blown their chance. thankfully for them, they tied the game at 1 later on. the game went to extra time and with everyone cramping up, you could tell the game was going to penalty kicks. no one missed until Juanfran of Atletico hit the post in the 4th round. that set up CR7 to win it for Real Madrid. i believe everyone around the world knew it was going to end up with him without a shirt and Real Madrid winning their 11th title. sure enough. hopefully, in 2 seasons, i'll get to watch Manchester United raise that trophy again.

the New York Yankees got some awful pitching yesterday, which put them in a big enough hole that i never bothered watching much of the game. they lost 9-5. hopefully they can salvage the series by winning this afternoon.

i did watch most of Golden State's unbelievable comeback to force a game 7 against Oklahoma City last night. watching Klay Thompson shoot last night was like recalling dreams i had as a child of making every shot i took when i was dreaming that i was Larry Bird. it was truly fucking amazing.

American Masters was excellent last night. i could listen to music from The Highwaymen all day long and never get bored.

ROH was excellent as well. long live The Bullet Club.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be House of Lies, Silicon Valley, Veep and Penny Dreadful.

i imagine i will spend most of the day watching auto racing. the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 are both today.

i did listen to the latest episode of Sam Roberts' Show podcast. if you want to laugh your ass off, give it a listen.
you can find it by going here: http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/5/27/srshow-krystyna-hutchinson-dj-whookid

team USA crushed Bolivia last night 4-0. i believe that was the first time the boys had EVER beaten Bolivia. it was also the largest margin of victory for the USA against a South American team. needless to say, i was pleasantly surprised.
with that goal, Christian Pulisic became the youngest American to ever score for the national team. the dude is only 17 years old and honestly, he's the most talented player on the team. play him Jurgen. and play the guy that passed him the ball, Darlington Nagbe. he's game changer. i can't believe i'm typing this, but i am confident that they actually have a chance in the Copa America now.

i've been talking to this woman online this morning. she says she lives right down the road from me. i guess in a few days we'll see if life has taken an interesting turn.

that's all for me today kids. i hope you had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

memorial day in the rain

first off, a happy Memorial Day to everyone. thank you for your service to this country.

yesterday started off pretty good for me. Manchester United played against a Hull team that had to win. so, for the final score to be 0-0 i was pleased but also sad. i didn't want to see Steve Bruce get relegated. but, shit happens. and considering everyone that was playing in a game that United had no desire to play, a clean sheet was a welcome sight. that certainly was a nice audition by Victor Valdes for next season. even though the team finished in the top 4, this summer is going to be pivotal to actually win some titles next season.

next up was the Indianapolis 500. i am a huge Juan Pablo Montoya fan. i have been since the Formula 1 days. so, to watch him win his second 500 15 years after his first one was beautiful. that was one sweet victory beer:

little did i know, that was going to be the high for the day.

the New York Rangers got beat at their own game last night. Tampa played the perfect road game and won 2-0. so, now it's do or die time for the Rangers. Game 6 is Tuesday in Tampa. as much as i want to believe they can pull it off again with their backs against the wall, i have my doubts. but, like any suffering fool, i'll be watching.

the New York Yankees lost again last night, 5-2. the only thing i liked of the game was seeing the old faces at the Bernie Williams retirement ceremony:
they play again today against Kansas City. i have no clue when all this fucking losing is going to end.

as i'm watching that i'll probably also watch a little of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse championship. i believe it's Denver vs. Maryland.

i did watch a good portion of the basketball game last night. even after all these years, i'm still amazed at what LeBron can do:

the Sunday night shows were excellent. i watched most of them this morning. Nurse Jackie was great. Happyish was hilarious in a creepy way. Penny Dreadful was fucking brilliant. Silicon Valley was hilarious. and finally, Veep was pretty funny.

tonight on the television will be Monday Night Raw and god knows what else. i'm probably going to spend some time tonight writing and getting some submissions ready.

that and moving furniture around, helping mom. given the weather today, windy and rainy, i'm not going to have much fun today. my body is already aching from helping move the first two pieces of furniture. good times.

that's really all for me. hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. and hopefully, everyone enjoys today.

another stellar day... so far

yet another day where the sun is out, the temps are reasonable, low humidity, and no rain. one could get used to this. of course, it's Ohio, so it will be different tomorrow. too much of a good thing is discouraged in this state.

the guy who farms out here got the rest of the soybeans planted today. so, i do hope we get some rain soon so all the crops can get a good soaking. and then it can go back to being sunny.

i had a nice little run in with a raccoon this afternoon. caught the fucker trying to eat the cat food. of course, i had nothing to kill it with so i scared the shit out of it with a broom and a 2x4. at least i know why we're going through so much damn cat food here recently.

the Yankees won today 7-1 to split the series with the White Sox. Tanaka went back to his winning ways and Jeter had 4 hits. they play tomorrow in St. Louis.

i did watch most of the F1 race this morning. i'm not a huge F1 fan, but i do follow it occasionally. i also watched most of the Indy 500. i really wanted my favorite driver, Juan Pablo Montoya, to win, but he came in 5th. his damn mistake on pit road did him in. it was a great finish to the race with the lead going back and forth. after i get done with this i'll be watching a little NASCAR until the hockey game tonight.

the New York Rangers play a MUST WIN Game 4 tonight. my blood boils anytime i think about the game tonight. i really, REALLY hope they fucking kill Montreal tonight. and i'm not sure if i'm speaking figuratively or not on that. i do want to see them get a 3-1 advantage in the series. not sure how the Rangers cope with their top center out to injury. i'm hoping the crowd gives them a huge lift and some role players step up HUGE. i'll be completely wired in on that tonight.

after that, i'm going to try to figure out how to fit in Nurse Jackie, Californication, and Penny Dreadful in along with the HBO movie tonight, The Normal Heart. i've got the feeling that i'll end up watching the HBO movie some other day.

i wrote 8 poems last night and submitted them for the Midnight on the Stroll Poetry Contest. you can find more info on that at http://midnightlanegallery.wordpress.com/. the early feel i get from the editor is that i'm going to have a few poems accepted for it. more on that in a week or so.

i always love when i can write something on the spot and someone else really likes it.

well, that's all for me today. not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. might be doing the cemetery tour tomorrow for Memorial Day. it will be probably after the Yankees game. or, if the weather somehow turns to shit, it might be early.

hope everyone is having a great weekend. if you do have plans for Memorial Day tomorrow, be safe. have fun. only fuck the ones that cough.

goodbye to the playoff beard

as i watched the New York Rangers lose last night, all i could think about is how damn long it has been since they have won the Stanley Cup. 1994 seems like forever, especially when i think i was 3 weeks graduated from high school when they won it. 3-1 loss. too many damn injuries to really have a shot. not enough depth and not nearly enough of cashing in on your chances. doesn't help the refs completely missed a 4 minute penalty on Boston as well. oh well. it will be interesting to see what changes are made in the summer.

i did watch the Champions League finale. although the team i wanted to win didn't, it was a great game to watch.

the Yankees had a great come from behind victory yesterday only to lay a fucking turd today. they did win the series, the first time in that dump in Tampa in over 3 years.

Ring Of Honor last night was excellent. i look at all the WWE stars that used to be in ROH and wonder how many of these current ROH stars will make the jump one day. i think a few should already be there.

funny side note on god's wicked sense of humor. after shaving off the playoff beard, i took a shower. the local rock station was playing blocks of songs. and they of course played Aerosmith as i was in the shower. so, now god is rubbing my nose in the Rangers loss to Boston by playing a Boston band. fuck me.

did watch a little Formula 1 this morning and the Indy 500 this afternoon. i'm really happy for Tony Kanaan. that win is long overdue. i imagine i'll watch a little NASCAR this evening to finish off race day.

the weather has been flawless today. it's supposed to rain tonight and most of tomorrow. that figures. it would be impossible to have 3 great days of weather on a holiday weekend.

i hope everyone is having a great weekend. i hope to not be on here for any reason tomorrow. so look for a Tuesday blog about Yankee updates against the fucking Mets, The Voice, Monday Night Raw, maybe a little playoff basketball, some pictures perhaps and who knows what else. of course, the creativity bug could strike and i would have no choice then.

until next time...

lazy ass sunday

i believe it's officially hotter than shit outside. and with a warm breeze that feels like someone left open the front door to hell. come back in and the air conditioning hits you and it's like instant sleep. i feel like a cat i've taken so many naps.

watched a little of the Indy 500. just how lucky can one motherfucker be?

waiting to hear back from The Electric Poet to see what poems they have accepted. always good to get the writing out to some new faces. check out their site at http://www.theelectricpoet.com/

as for music today, not sure what kind of mix i was shooting for. i believe i'm on auto-pilot today.

The Staple Singers - Platinum Gospel
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears - Tell 'Em What Your Name Is!
Jeff Buckley - Mystery White Boy: Live 95-96
Fine Young Cannibals - The Raw & The Cooked

and to end this fucker out, i shall leave you with something that feels oddly appropriate given my mood, my lack of energy and my existence at the moment:
