last night was one of those nights where it started so well and then ended like a fresh slice of hell. between the Rangers losing in OT, the Yankees blowing a lead late, to the thunderstorm hitting late at night, to writing 3 poems while my left arm is radiating like i'm having a heart attack... i find it funny that my first thoughts of suicide came 40 years ago. maybe the roulette wheel of death is finally stopping on me. good times.
the Rangers lost last night at Florida, 3-2, in OT. the Rangers played their best first period of the series and were up 1-0. they responded to that by sleepwalking more or less through the rest of the game. i wasn't thrilled with the penalties they took or the ones the refs invented. they could have called 3 different penalties on Florida before OT and course swallowed the whistle then. but the first fucking chance they could call one on the Rangers in OT, they did. now, do i think the league wanted to make damn sure this series was going back to MSG 2-2? yes, 100% sure of that. sad to say, but the Rangers best players have to start being their best players if they actually want to fucking win this series. Game 5 is Thursday night.
the New York Yankees lost last night at the Angels, 4-3. hopefully, they will find a way to win tonight.
here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:
NXT was very good last night. two surprises that i never saw coming.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite and NJPW.
i'm sure i will watch some of the NHL playoffs tonight.
grocery shopping was a pain today. my pinched nerve was really bothering me. didn't help that i had shitty, and i mean really shitty sleep last night. less than 2 hours in my bed and less than 3 hours in the massage chair. fuck me. and, i have had to go to Rite Aid two different times to get pills today. why it is so god damn hard to wait until you have all 3 filled and then text me to come get them... fuck me.
i did write 3 poems last night. between the pain and anger, i felt like it was a good time to get that shit down on paper. hopefully, i will get some more written soon.
well, first shit of the day at 6 PM. i'm guessing that is a sign of impending doom.
i ordered mom's birthday gifts last night. amazingly, they are supposed to be here by Friday.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.
until then kids...
fight the power.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i talk from time to time about how this country has gone to fucking hell and we're not the best nation in the world, nor are we free and i know that most people don't bother to pay attention. so, when i saw a CNN crew get arrested this morning on live television, i knew the final nails in the coffin of democracy were being hammered home.
i don't think it would surprise anyone to know if the CNN anchor was white, none of this would have happened.
and honestly, until one of these police officers that murder an unarmed black person gets convicted of murder and does time or dies for his crime, the brewing hatred in this country will continue to fucking burn.
i went to the grocery store to get my pills today. i almost made it back to the Highlander before it started fucking storming. almost.
before that, i went to Meijer to look for some things. i did find one thing they were out of last week. i also had to pick up some individual sleeves for the baseball cards. i found those. i was hoping to find some 2020 cards while i was there. sadly, there was none.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Total Bellas was very good last night.
Holey Moley was hilarious last night.
Shelter in Place with Shane Smith was very good last night.
No Mercy No Malice with Professor Scott Galloway was excellent last night.
Desus & Mero was great last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Real Time with Bill Maher, Betty and Jesus Trejo: Stay At Home Son. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.
my arthritis has been fucking with me all day long. i'm guessing if it is rainy again tomorrow, i'm going to spend most of the day having a love affair with ice and a massage chair.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'm guessing maybe early afternoon or so.
before i get to the adventure of the bank and Office Depot, a little poetry news first.
i sent out 19 poems today. 3 to The Beatnik Cowboy. 6 to Bindweed Magazine. and 10 poems to Lucidity Poetry Journal. when i hear back from these places, i wll pass along the verdicts.
mom paid me for the month. so, since i was headed in that direction, i figured i would go to Office Depot to pick up a few things. the black woman working at the bank was showing just enough cleavage to allow my brain to go fucking nuts. there will be poems i suppose. i needed to get some new pens, some envelopes and some damn tape at Office Depot. thankfully, mom gave me a gift card and she had some reward dollars that needed to be used. so, 4 pens, 100 envelopes, and 4 rolls of tape ended up costing me $7. that's not bad.
my theory is apparently true. we only have two seasons anymore. cold and fucking hot. we're in the fucking hot stage at the moment.
the New York Yankees lost to Houston yesterday 5-1. hopefully they will get a win tonight. considering who is pitching, i'm not holding my breath.
i did watch the NCAA championship in lacrosse yesterday. that's probably the only Memorial Day tradition i actually have.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.
John McCain: For Whom The Bell Tolls was excellent last night. i really liked that they showed the moments he fucked up as a politician as well as the good stuff. well worth your time checking out.
here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:
so it's going to be Cleveland and Golden State in the NBA finals for the 4th straight year. if LeBron wins this one, he might as well declare himself the messiah. it's going to take everything he has to beat the Warriors.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, The Jim Jefferies Show and The Chris Gethard Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.
no playoff games tonight, so it will just be the Yankees game i will be flipping to during the commercials.
i'll be on here tomorrow after i take the car to the mechanic. just the basic there's 225,000 miles on the vehicle checkups and what not. mom and i shouldn't be there too long. who knows, we might get a bite to eat afterwards.
i need to pick up the trash here and next door, so that's all for me kids.

i hope everyone has a very happy Memorial Day. my thanks to everyone who has died for this country. my hope is that no one will have to die for it again, but i know that's not possible. at least not until humans no longer exist.
i sent out 16 poems this morning; 6 to The Chicago Record and 5 each to Easy Street and Otoliths. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.
the New York Yankees got the first career grand slam from Aaron Judge yesterday to beat the A's 9-5. they start a series at Baltimore this afternoon.
i did watch a little of the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 yesterday.
Silicon Valley was hilarious last night.
Veep was even more hilarious last night.
Twin Peaks was an excellent mindfuck once again.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
the Stanley Cup Final starts tonight. i might check out a little bit of the game.
my one Memorial Day tradition is watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Finals. i will be watching that later today and for the first time ever, Ohio State will be playing in it.
my mother actually got some good sleep for a change. i know she's really looking forward to the bandages coming off. maybe then she'll feel good enough to sleep in a bed instead of the recliner.
i don't mind having my sister here, i'm just concerned if she actually knows there is something other than Golden Girls on the television. you would think she wouldn't continue to watch it after i bought her every episode for Christmas a few years ago. oh well.
i hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day. if you are actually enjoying the long holiday weekend, take it easy. for the rest of the world, hope you have a good Monday.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i believe i only had one drink last night. it was a little strong, probably a little more spiced rum than usual, but nothing out of the ordinary. the thing is, after listening to a podcast last night and checking emails, i don't really remember what happened. all i know is i woke up this morning roughly 8 hours later. i guess i got the good shit yesterday.
the Champions League final yesterday was high drama. Real Madrid scored in the first half, even though the goal shouldn't have counted. (Ramos was offside). When Atletico missed the penalty kick in the 47th minute, i figured that they had blown their chance. thankfully for them, they tied the game at 1 later on. the game went to extra time and with everyone cramping up, you could tell the game was going to penalty kicks. no one missed until Juanfran of Atletico hit the post in the 4th round. that set up CR7 to win it for Real Madrid. i believe everyone around the world knew it was going to end up with him without a shirt and Real Madrid winning their 11th title. sure enough. hopefully, in 2 seasons, i'll get to watch Manchester United raise that trophy again.
the New York Yankees got some awful pitching yesterday, which put them in a big enough hole that i never bothered watching much of the game. they lost 9-5. hopefully they can salvage the series by winning this afternoon.
i did watch most of Golden State's unbelievable comeback to force a game 7 against Oklahoma City last night. watching Klay Thompson shoot last night was like recalling dreams i had as a child of making every shot i took when i was dreaming that i was Larry Bird. it was truly fucking amazing.
American Masters was excellent last night. i could listen to music from The Highwaymen all day long and never get bored.
ROH was excellent as well. long live The Bullet Club.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be House of Lies, Silicon Valley, Veep and Penny Dreadful.
i imagine i will spend most of the day watching auto racing. the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 are both today.
i did listen to the latest episode of Sam Roberts' Show podcast. if you want to laugh your ass off, give it a listen.
team USA crushed Bolivia last night 4-0. i believe that was the first time the boys had EVER beaten Bolivia. it was also the largest margin of victory for the USA against a South American team. needless to say, i was pleasantly surprised.
with that goal, Christian Pulisic became the youngest American to ever score for the national team. the dude is only 17 years old and honestly, he's the most talented player on the team. play him Jurgen. and play the guy that passed him the ball, Darlington Nagbe. he's game changer. i can't believe i'm typing this, but i am confident that they actually have a chance in the Copa America now.
i've been talking to this woman online this morning. she says she lives right down the road from me. i guess in a few days we'll see if life has taken an interesting turn.
that's all for me today kids. i hope you had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i've been doing my best to think positive all day long. as you might imagine, it's nearly fucking impossible for me. but, i'm channeling all my emotions in the right direction at least.
tonight is Game 6 between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens. the Rangers just need 1 more WIN and they will advance to the Stanley Cup Final. after being embarrassed in Game 5, i'd like to think tonight the "real" Rangers will be on the ice. if they can score first and Hank can start the game on fire, i do believe they will win. i could go without any overtimes or huge comebacks tonight. just win it in 60 minutes please. and if they do, let the party begin.
the Yankees offense showed up last night, which was funny, as they were playing a ton of backups last night. a nice 7-4 win in St. Louis to give them a winning road trip. they are off tonight as they prepare for a home game with the Twins on Friday. hopefully their mastery over that team at home continues.
i did get to see The Normal Heart last night. it certainly didn't feel as long as it was, which i take as a sign of a great movie. the acting in it was magnificent. i highly recommend it.
i heard back from Craig Scott over at Luciferous on my poetry submission from last month. he said he is shutting the site down so he isn't considering my work. so, there's 4 "new" poems to toss back on the pile. i'm planning on doing another submission in early June.
did a little shopping today online. can't turn down a clearance sale on some wrestling shit.
we did get some rain last night. about half an inch or so. that was plenty for the crops. a cold front is supposed to move through and take the humidity away for the weekend. i really hope that happens.
that's all for me today. i'm going to take a quick shower and then get ready for the game tonight. that will have ALL of my focus tonight. i imagine you'll know how the game turns out on my mood tomorrow.
be well. hope this finds everyone in a good mood.
peace.

i am a man (stop laughing) that loves history. but i don't particularly enjoy going back and revisiting or revising or even rewriting history. and considering that today is the 50th year anniversary of JFK being assassinated, it was a little hard to escape. don't get me wrong, history in the moment i will eat with a damn spoon. take 9/11 for instance, i didn't sleep for a week. i had the tv on every second of every day just devouring the news. but, 10 years later, i didn't think about it longer than a few minutes. i know about the past, i'm not too fond of living in it. sadly, i'm not sure i can say the same for many people; today being one of the greatest examples of drowning in nostalgia.
now, all that being said, i did observe the moment of silence today. and then i went back to stuffing my face with food.
was a little bummed when i read today that John Prine has been diagnosed with lung cancer. they believe they caught it early, but how many damn times can one man beat that disease? here's one of my favorites from him:
on to better news... i really enjoyed The Big Bang Theory last night. the writing on that show consistently amazes me.
the New York Rangers got an incredible performance from The King last night. Rick Nash scored his first goal of the season. all in a 3-2 much needed win. highlights below:
i picked the NFL game correctly last night, but i was torn. the QB for New Orleans is my fantasy QB for my NFL.com team. but, he's my opponent's QB in my CBS Sports.com league. quite the dilemma. i have a 23 point lead in one and a 30 point deficit to make up in the other. it will be a stressful weekend to say the least.
and the weather is going to turn here with lows in the teens. lovely.
i think i'm going to try to watch an interview with Gary Clark Jr. this evening on DIRECTV. other than that, i will probably be checking the internet to see how the high school i graduated from is doing in the high school football playoffs. one win away from another trip to the final 4.
that's all for me. i will probably be back on here sometime before Ohio State plays tomorrow. hope everyone has a great weekend.

Foy Vance - Joy of Nothing

Shooter Jennings - Put the O Back in Country
John Prine - In Person & On Stage
Tom Waits - Small Change

watched team USA (basketball) sleep through a first quarter where they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. and, as always with basketball, play better defense and offense becomes easy. sure enough. a nice wake up call and then a blowout of France.
as that was going on i was watching Neymar put on a show at the Theater of Dreams. while watching that, it was hard not to think of him one day wearing a Manchester United kit on that field. and with the back heel for the third goal, i really hope those dreams come true one day.
speaking of Man U, Giggs and Cleverley look to be in pretty good shape. nice win for GB.
a night of schizophrenic television awaits for me. Red Sox vs. Yankees, Big Brother, The Newsroom, Weeds, Episodes, Big Brother After Dark. thankfully i already know the results of the events (swimming, gymnastics, etc.) going to be shown this evening. i don't care for tape delay in a world where i can find out what happened in seconds.
speaking of Big Brother last night, finally an episode on Showtime where i could laugh my ass off. PLEASE, keep giving them tons of alcohol.
music today:
Melissa Etheridge - Greatest Hits: The Road Less Traveled
Florence & the Machine - Lungs
