so, it has been a day...

mom made me give her a COVID test today. i did the test on her and after 10 minutes, i let her know that she was negative. i get the feeling she is depressed yet doesn't know why. and i have been dealing with depression for so long, i tell her all the things i see. of course, i don't do it in a way that she finds supporting or uplifting, so i'm not sure how much she takes what i'm saying to heart. honestly, i sometimes think she is just looking for someone to tell her what she wants to hear. i understand that. i never really search for that in my life. i'm more interested in the ones that will tell me the hard truths and give me some thoughts on how i could make something better. i have learned in 47 years to check my ego at the door at times. i know if i never learned that, i would be dead by now. especially given how this country is now.

so yeah, there is a level of frustration in the house from one side that you can feel it. and as much as i will help my mother i know, this is something that she has to take the initiative to actually want the help. i'm very much a do something about it or just accept it kind of person. mom is so entrenched in her procrastination that i'm not sure she actually knows how to deal with any mental shit without just pushing it away to deal with it later. as much as i tell her that will come back to bite her in the end, she keeps on doing it. as you can imagine, nothing but fun times here. as one photo in the house says, we put the fun in dysfunction.

part 1 of the finale of The Voice last night was excellent. i have no damn clue who is going to win. i know tonight will be Blake Shelton's last night, so i'm expecting a shit ton of nostalgia.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night.

hard to believe my eyes sometimes...

so, the New York Yankees starting pitching has been unreal the last few games. so unreal in fact, this is the best stretch their starters have been on since 1932. holy fuck. the Yankees beat the White Sox yesterday, 7-0. they go for the sweep today.

here are your NHL playoffs highlights from yesterday:

here are your NBA playoffs highlights from yesterday:

ROH was good last night.

MLW was good as well.

Saturday Night Live was hilarious last night. i thought it was a pretty good season finale.

of course, it had to start raining...

before i get to the arthritis in my knee going nuts as i was biting into a sandwich, a little serious note i need to pass along.

on the right hand side of the blog, you may have noticed the picture i put up that is a direct link to Debbie Kirk's fundraising campaign on GoFundMe. this is to get her some money for her fight against breast cancer. i urge everyone to check it out, donate if you can, and pass it along to everyone you know. many thanks for all of you that do this. here is a link to the fundraiser:
https://www.gofundme.com/5m0wfqg

after mom and i got the car back from the mechanic, we went out lunch. just as i was biting into my bacon cheeseburger at Red Robin, my left knee started throbbing. 2 minutes later, the televisions went out and i knew exactly what was coming. it started to really fucking pour. that exact moment, i should have gone to the bar and got a shot or something. thankfully, the rain didn't last long, but the fucking drizzle did. we had to go to the grocery store after that. mom had pills to pick up (9 prescriptions) and we were out of sweetener for the morning coffee. that was all done pretty quickly. thankfully, the drizzle had stopped on our way home. of course, it's supposed to rain more tonight.

the New York Yankees won last night, 6-5 in 10 innings over Houston. the Yankees had no business winning the game as they had 5 fucking errors in the game. but, i'll gladly take it. the Yankees can win the series as it concludes tonight.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was excellent last night.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was hilarious last night.

the season finale (and hopefully not the series finale) of The Chris Gethard Show was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Being Serena. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight. i'm rooting for Las Vegas in this series. hopefully they will go up 2-0 tonight on Washington.

i will be on here tomorrow after i get home from taking mom to her physical therapy appointment. hopefully, i will have some end of the month poems to type up.

that's all for me kids.

one busy day...

before i get to the adventure of the bank and Office Depot, a little poetry news first.

i sent out 19 poems today. 3 to The Beatnik Cowboy. 6 to Bindweed Magazine. and 10 poems to Lucidity Poetry Journal. when i hear back from these places, i wll pass along the verdicts.

mom paid me for the month. so, since i was headed in that direction, i figured i would go to Office Depot to pick up a few things. the black woman working at the bank was showing just enough cleavage to allow my brain to go fucking nuts. there will be poems i suppose. i needed to get some new pens, some envelopes and some damn tape at Office Depot. thankfully, mom gave me a gift card and she had some reward dollars that needed to be used. so, 4 pens, 100 envelopes, and 4 rolls of tape ended up costing me $7. that's not bad.

my theory is apparently true. we only have two seasons anymore. cold and fucking hot. we're in the fucking hot stage at the moment.

the New York Yankees lost to Houston yesterday 5-1. hopefully they will get a win tonight. considering who is pitching, i'm not holding my breath.

team USA defeated Bolivia last night 3-0 in a soccer friendly. i loved that the USA played plenty of kids and they seemed to really play well. now, the competition wasn't great, but i don't care about that. i love that the kids will get some confidence and then can test themselves later in the year with better teams. you can see the highlights from the game by going here:
https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2018/05/29/01/12/20180528-recap-mnt-debut-goals-from-zimmerman-sargent-weah-propel-youthful-usa-past-bolivia

i did watch the NCAA championship in lacrosse yesterday. that's probably the only Memorial Day tradition i actually have.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

John McCain: For Whom The Bell Tolls was excellent last night. i really liked that they showed the moments he fucked up as a politician as well as the good stuff. well worth your time checking out.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:
so it's going to be Cleveland and Golden State in the NBA finals for the 4th straight year. if LeBron wins this one, he might as well declare himself the messiah. it's going to take everything he has to beat the Warriors.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, The Jim Jefferies Show and The Chris Gethard Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

no playoff games tonight, so it will just be the Yankees game i will be flipping to during the commercials.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i take the car to the mechanic. just the basic there's 225,000 miles on the vehicle checkups and what not. mom and i shouldn't be there too long. who knows, we might get a bite to eat afterwards.

i need to pick up the trash here and next door, so that's all for me kids.

and the survey says...

so, after going to the doctor today, the verdict is i have a partially torn left calf muscle. he ordered me 10 days worth of muscle relaxers. that should help with the nerves firing off randomly. of course, as this heals, just what my left leg needs...more scar tissue. so i'm supposed to take it easy for the next 10 days. we'll see.

i wrote 10 poems yesterday while mom was in her physical therapy session. i typed them up last night and really liked a few of them. i think that brings me to 40 poems or so for the month. i'll probably have another writing session over the holiday weekend.

the New York Yankees lost last night to the Texas Rangers, 6-4. the Yankees will have a chance to win their 9th straight series later tonight.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was good last night as well.

The Voice finale was pretty good last night. i don't really care for the winner, but like i said, i wasn't surprised. i certainly wasn't surprised the two black performers finished 3rd and 4th. it is the USA in 2018 after all.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

The Chris Gethard Show was hilarious last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show last night was fucking great.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Being Serena. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i will probably watch some of Game 7 tonight between Washington and Tampa Bay. and i'll probably watch some of Cleveland vs. Boston as well in the NBA playoffs.

the New York Rangers finally have a head coach.

i need to start thinking about dinner and probably some rest as well.

that's all for me kids.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow.

riding the waves of pain

if i had to guess, i think i'm dealing with a nerve problem as well as a pulled/strained calf muscle. and when my nerves fire off in my left leg, oh my fucking god. it's not as severe as the pain i had when my sciatic nerve was pinched. this is more of the feeling i would get when i would get high as a teen and wasn't quite sure what i took. and it's not that i don't enjoy the uneasy feeling, it's more of a matter of knowing i won't be able to find the pleasure forever in the pain. it's that unknown side of life that i tend to dread. my tendencies for self-destruction tend to grow a little deeper each day. good times.

the New York Yankees continued hitting home runs last night, defeating Texas 10-5. hopefully that will continue tonight.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:

The Voice was pretty good last night. you could tell the moment was getting to some of them. i honestly think Britton will win it tonight. that being said, i wouldn't be shocked if any of other 3 won either.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

we had some storms hit last night, right as i was finishing up my dinner. we got 1.5 inches of rain. i figure our yard is going to look like a jungle here before too long.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, the finale of The Voice, Deadliest Catch, The Jim Jefferies Show and The Chris Gethard Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight.

i will probably watch some of the NBA playoff game tonight as well.

i'm planning on bringing my notebook with me to mom's physical therapy appointment this afternoon. and as long as i can manage the pain, we'll probably be going to a late lunch/early dinner afterwards.

i'm interested to see how many poems i write today. there's a good chance it will be raining while mom's appointment will be going on. that should make things even more interesting.

and at some point today, i need to do the trash here and next door. joy.

and then cancer comes in the room and bums everyone out...

i have a sign in my room that says i get my cardio by running from adult responsibilities. today might be the day i run for a few miles. my best friend sent me a message this morning i never wanted to hear from her. the mass in her left breast is cancer and they need to remove the whole breast. we got into a little argument last week when i brought up this possibility. now that it is actually here, i know my tough love approach won't work. this is when i need to be the compassionate listener. now, that's something i do well, but when a person just a few years older than myself is facing this, i know all my listening will turn into me facing my own mortality. i joke all the time i do all i do for my mother so i get to stay in the will. she said something about it yesterday and i quickly snapped back with the unfortunate reality we all know... none of this will do me any good if i die first. that brings up a topic in most of my poems, the race to death. i have to call my best friend later this afternoon. i figured i would get the blog done before that fucking cry fest begins. she's one of the few humans on the planet that tells me she loves me and actually means it. it figures she'd have cancer. god hates me.

the New York Yankees got down 3-0 last night at the Nationals. they clawed their way back to get it to 3-3 and then the fucking rain came. and it never stopped. so the game was suspended until 5 PM tonight. they will try to finish the game from yesterday and then play the game they had scheduled for tonight. of course, it's supposed to rain tonight in D.C. so who the fuck knows if they will even get to play at all.

i was pleasantly surprised last night when the Sacramento Kings got the #2 pick in the NBA Draft Lottery. of course, i immediately wondered how they will fuck this up. hopefully, that doesn't happen.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was really good last night.

The Voice was good last night. i had 3 of the 4 finalists i chose correct. and seeing that the only one i had wrong was the one i had fifth, i'm really fine with the Final 4. i would love to see Kyla or Spensha win, but my gut says Britton will win this.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

The Chris Gethard Show was fucking great last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was hilarious last night.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Being Serena. i will watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i will probably watch some of the NHL and NBA playoffs tonight as well.

i'm getting ready to watch some of the Europa League Final to take my mind off things for a bit.

plus, there is rain in the area, so my arthritis is raging at the moment. joy.

i have no idea if mom is going to her physical therapy appointment tomorrow or not. she's still coughing her head off at the moment. if she does, i'll be on here tomorrow after that. if she doesn't, i might have a little writing session and then i'll be on here. i can't imagine what would be on my mind to write about.

that's all for me today kids.

so long Mr. Wolfe

i have been running around like 9 cats trying to cover up shit in a windstorm today. but, before i get to all that, i need to give a proper goodbye to one of my favorites.

so long Tom Wolfe. you were one of the greatest and one of the few that absolutely lived the fuck out of their life. you will never be forgotten.
i have made two different trips to the grocery store today. first was to get my pills. mom had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. when we got home from that, i did the trash and then had to go back to the grocery store to get her pills. good times. i also got gas for the car and bought a late lunch all between running around. that's why i'm just now starting the fucking blog when i should be kicking back and watching the Yankees game.

The Voice was really good last night. i think i know who the final four will be tonight.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:

i did write 3 poems today. i typed them up early this afternoon and really like them. i have my eye on a few places to send to. i might squeeze out another submission or two before the month is over.

i have no damn clue when i'll be on here tomorrow.

there are storms in the area. of course, we're not getting any rain. but i still get the fucking pain from my arthritis. let's just say i'll be drinking tonight.

perhaps rock bottom has been hit...

i think i have coughed more in the last 24 hours than i have in most of my 42 years on this fucking planet. i'm hoping that's rock bottom and the only way to go from here is up. i went and got the pills my doctor said i could use and wouldn't affect my liver at all. i had to go get them or my mother was going to sneak out and get them from me. so, that's why this blog started 30 minutes later than i wanted to today. the asshole son had to tell his mother it's okay to allow the asshole to be an adult. good times.

i might have got a little over 4 hours of sleep last night. considering that's about what i get when i'm healthy, that's a good sign. i would love if i could actually sleep in a bed again before the weekend rolls around.

and i'm so fucking behind on getting the poems out there... if i'm better by the weekend, i know what i'll be doing.

the New York Yankees won last night, 3-2 over Boston. the Yankees are now tied for first place in the division. that also means they are tied for the best record in baseball. the last time the Yankees won 16 out of 17 games was in 1953. they play again tonight.

i was not happy with one of the people that got sent home last night on The Voice. Christiana absolutely should have been saved last night.

Smackdown was really good last night. imagine that, a wrestling show that actually shows mostly wrestling. concept.

205 Live was excellent last night.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was hilarious last night.

The Chris Gethard Show was fucking bizarre last night. it also reminded me why i miss smoking weed so much.

a bit of good news...

well, after a mere 3 hours of sleep last night, i decided i had to go to the doctor. thankfully, i was able to get an appointment this morning. i thought it was going to be with one of the nurse practitioners in his practice. little did i know, it was with him. we talked about my liver some. he said while my levels were elevated, they weren't high enough to be of much concern. so guess who is going back to drinking? he offered me either pills or shots for my cold. i said since they were taking blood from me today anyway, might as well give me the shots. so his assistant, the one who looks like a crush i had in my early teens, gave me two shots; an antibiotic and a steroid. the doctor said that should do the trick. hopefully, he is right.

after i got home, i had to take mom to go vote. after that, we went to the post office. amazingly, the mail got delivered here before fucking noon.

i figure the drugs they put me are going to make me tired soon. or at least i hope.

The Voice was really good last night. i have no clue which two are going to be eliminated tonight.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:
