a night of storms...

we had some thunderstorms last night, a couple tornado warnings, plenty of fucking wind, but no damage that i could see this morning. of course, i slept like shit, as usual. mom wanted me to wake her up this morning at 9 so she could call her accountant and tell him she wouldn't be coming in today. i guess i will bring him the taxes when she is done with everything. if my mother has mastered one thing in her life... procrastination.

the Yankees lost last night at home to Arizona, 4-3. they will hopefully avoid the sweep tonight.

the New York Rangers won last night at home against Minnesota, 5-4, in OT.

AEW Dynamite was good last night.

Abbott Elementary was excellent last night.

The Masked Singer was crazy as usual last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

here are your videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

i was going to do my laundry today but my back told me to go fuck myself. so, i guess i will try tomorrow.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i have even less of a clue what i am doing for dinner tonight.

i should have known better...

so, i have done my best as i have aged to be more optimistic. yesterday was an example why there will always be a part of me that knows such bullshit is a farce. Ohio State lost yesterday at home to Michigan, 13-10. Ryan Day has now lost 4 straight games to that team. that hasn't happened since the late 80's to early 90's. as i told my mother last night, he'd be lucky if his house wasn't burnt to the ground by this morning. while i do believe Ohio State will make the playoffs, i won't be shocked when they lose in the first round and everyone is fucking fired.

the New York Rangers tried their hardest to fucking lose yesterday but managed to end their losing streak, defeating Montreal at home, 4-3.

the USWNT and England played a 0-0 draw yesterday.

WWE Survivor Series War Games was really good yesterday.

AEW Collision and AEW Rampage was ok last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Somebody Somewhere and two episodes of The Agency.

so, i did get up in time this morning to watch Manchester United absolutely destroy Everton today, 4-0.

the New Orleans Saints play today at home against the Rams. hopefully, the Saints will find a way to win.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

turkey week...

so the next few days are going to be tricky... mom has a doctor's appointment the day before Thanksgiving. that means i am doing the grocery shopping tomorrow instead of Wednesday. thankfully, i don't think we need much from the store. hell, most of the money is going to pills this week. add in that the Dayton Flyers are playing in Hawaii and i highly doubt i am going to get much sleep for the next few days.

so, Manchester United got a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town yesterday. United scored 80 seconds into the game, so i was really hoping that was a sign of things to come. of course, it wasn't. what i did love was the new coach basically said exactly what was wrong after the game. the players thought too much out there and they were scared. that alone makes me think they hired the right guy finally.

i did watch plenty of NFL games yesterday.

Somebody Somewhere was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, Monday Night Raw and What We Do in the Shadows.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against St. Louis. hopefully, the Rangers will end their losing streak tonight.

the Dayton Flyers play North Carolina in Maui tonight. the game starts at 11:30 PM. Dayton is a (at least when i put money on them) 7.5 point underdog.

i might watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Chargers and Ravens.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

why i love pro wrestling...

night 2 of WrestleMania 40 was awesome. when the cash in happened in the first match, i told mom it was going to be a crazy night. i absolutely love they started the main event before 10 PM. and that main event had everything. as i explained to my mother, Cody and Seth had to lose on Saturday for Cody to have a chance to win on Sunday. to see the Undertaker come back to confront The Rock was a big shock to me. but most of all, i was so damn happy that Cody won and finished the story. now, it will be very interesting to see where WWE goes from here. i have to believe this was the biggest WrestleMania of all time.

here are your 3 videos for this day of national poetry month:

the Yankees won yesterday at home against Toronto, 8-3. they start a series tonight at home against the Marlins.

the New York Rangers won last night at home against Montreal, 5-2. they tied their season record for wins last night.

the series finale of The Regime was crazy.

the series finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm was hilarious.

A Gentleman in Moscow was very good last night.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

i guess i still have it...

so, mom had her echocardiogram today. i had to wait out in the waiting room. i brought along pen and paper, just in case i had some poems come to me. by the time she was done, i had 5 poems written. these are the first waiting room poems in over a year. her exam went well. after she was done, we went to Perkins for lunch. i looked up the nutritional info while we were sitting there. i told her she could have two brioche slices of french toast and fit it into her sodium numbers. she was thrilled. as she was eating, i told her she's going to have a nice nap once she gets home. she is currently in her bed asleep. as for the poems, they are typed up. i like them. i believe i will send them out together, probably early next month.

the Yankees won last night over the Phillies, 6-5 in 10 innings. they start a series tonight in Boston. hopefully, they will keep on winning.

AEW was excellent last night.

Big Brother was good last night. i'm pretty sure Frenchie will be evicted tonight.

here comes the snow...

the weather "experts" around here said the storm that was coming would start off with rain and the snow line would be a few miles north of us. of course, just more bullshit. it started off as ice and now has turned over to snow. so, i'm guessing we're going to be part of that 2 to 4 inches of snow line now. good times.

the Dayton Flyers whipped Rhode Island last night, 81-67. Dayton started the game on a 17-0 run that was just fucking lovely to watch. sadly, three assholes wearing stripes decided that the sell out crowd was actually there to see them. 52 fucking fouls were called in the game, including 7 technicals. what a fucking joke. Dayton is now 22-2 on the season. they are still undefeated in league play. they play this Saturday at UMass. they have won 13 games in a row.

Ali & Cavett: The Tale of the Tapes was pretty interesting last night.

WWE Backstage was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Masked Singer, NXT, AEW and Miz & Mrs.

the New York Rangers won last night in Winnipeg, 4-1. i believe Igor Shesterkin is the second coming for this team. the man is fucking amazing.

so far, sleeping out in the chair has worked pretty good for me. i will probably have to be in my bed tonight with the snow. i think most of my problems the other night was from not drinking enough water. i've been really trying to drink more and stay hydrated better. i guess i'll see if that works for me tonight.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. if we get 4 inches of snow, mom has these guys on call to clear off the driveway and sidewalks. she knows i would do it, but then my back wouldn't be worth a shit for the next 2 weeks or so.

figures winter finally fucking shows up in mid February.

it never fails...

mom and i decided on fish last night for dinner. she set the oven on pre-heat and came back to the living room to watch some television. about 20 minutes later, she went back into the kitchen. i was in my massage chair, icing down my back. i suddenly heard an "oh shit!" from the kitchen. i stopped the massage and started lowering the chair to go into the kitchen. i asked her what was going on and all i could hear was fire. oh fuck. i got into the kitchen and i guess the heating element on the bottom in our oven broke. that was what was burning. mom turned the oven off and that killed the fire. she put the fish back into the freezer. a new oven isn't exactly something we had planned on having to do this weekend. i told her maybe we can hold out to Memorial Day and there will be some sales. she laughed and said the ovens were on sale last weekend. she sent me to go get Taco Bell for dinner. 8 PM on a Friday night in the town i live is fucking crazy, especially at all the fast food places. i figure that's because the whole fucking town basically shuts down at 10 PM. i finally got the food after waiting 30 minutes in line. and of course, they forgot something i ordered. it never fails...

the New York Yankees were losing that night entering the 9th inning, 3-1. Tampa's closer was on the mound and he had been mostly untouched so far this season. the first pitch of the bottom of the 9th, Luke Voit hit a homer. i started to perk up in my chair. when the wild pitch ended up tying the game at 3, i was jacked. and then, the undisputed MVP of the Yankees this season came to the plate. Gio Urshela. he got the game winning hit, giving the Yankees first place in the division. Gio is only batting 100 points higher this season than his "normal" average in previous seasons. hopefully, the first place Yankees will win again this afternoon.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows:

NJPW was really good last night.

Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men was excellent last night.

i have no clue if mom wants to get an oven this weekend or not. i guess that's why i got up early this morning, just in case.

happy birthday to me

before i get to the positives of today, amazingly there was a few, i first have to wade through all the fucking negatives from yesterday.

when the New Orleans Saints got up yesterday 13-0, i really wished those early field goals could have been touchdowns. i just had a feeling that would come back to haunt them. sure enough, along with the worst fucking blown call i have seen in my fucking life, the Saints ended up losing to the Rams yesterday, 26-23 in OT. i was hoping by waiting a day to write about it, i wouldn't still be pissed. no such luck. part of me would love to find the blind fuck that missed the most blatant pass interference in the history of the sport, and kill him. that won't solve anything, but it would please the fuck out of me. i can only hope now the league changes some fucking rules or something, but that won't solve the travesty from yesterday. of course, the Saints could have done a few things differently and the call wouldn't have mattered. but, i'm so fucking used to the heartbreak with this team, i'm nearly fucking numb.

the Patriots beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, 37-31 in OT. so the Super Bowl will be the Rams vs. Patriots. fuck, i hope the commercials are good.

at least the shows last night were pretty good.

True Detective was really good last night.

Crashing was pretty funny last night.

High Maintenance was hilarious last night.

Total Bellas was good last night.

Shameless was excellent last night.

SMILF was pretty good last night.

Black Monday was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Celebrity Big Brother. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

my mother and sister got me some really nice things for my birthday this year. some clothes, a couple books, liquor, music and money... those things always hit the spot.

i did do a little poetry work today. i think i know where my next 18 poems are going. i wanted to get those out today, but honestly, a good portion of my will to live was extinguished yesterday. so, i think i need to build that back up first.

i hope everyone had a good weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to physical therapy.

riding the waves of pain

if i had to guess, i think i'm dealing with a nerve problem as well as a pulled/strained calf muscle. and when my nerves fire off in my left leg, oh my fucking god. it's not as severe as the pain i had when my sciatic nerve was pinched. this is more of the feeling i would get when i would get high as a teen and wasn't quite sure what i took. and it's not that i don't enjoy the uneasy feeling, it's more of a matter of knowing i won't be able to find the pleasure forever in the pain. it's that unknown side of life that i tend to dread. my tendencies for self-destruction tend to grow a little deeper each day. good times.

the New York Yankees continued hitting home runs last night, defeating Texas 10-5. hopefully that will continue tonight.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night:

The Voice was pretty good last night. you could tell the moment was getting to some of them. i honestly think Britton will win it tonight. that being said, i wouldn't be shocked if any of other 3 won either.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

we had some storms hit last night, right as i was finishing up my dinner. we got 1.5 inches of rain. i figure our yard is going to look like a jungle here before too long.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, the finale of The Voice, Deadliest Catch, The Jim Jefferies Show and The Chris Gethard Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight.

i will probably watch some of the NBA playoff game tonight as well.

i'm planning on bringing my notebook with me to mom's physical therapy appointment this afternoon. and as long as i can manage the pain, we'll probably be going to a late lunch/early dinner afterwards.

i'm interested to see how many poems i write today. there's a good chance it will be raining while mom's appointment will be going on. that should make things even more interesting.

and at some point today, i need to do the trash here and next door. joy.

thanks for the sleep boys

i wasn't expecting to take a nap this afternoon, but thanks to Manchester United, i got a good one in. their listless 0-0 draw against West Ham was truly boring. other than a few moments here and there, i'm happy i slept through most of it.
that 1 point for the draw gives Manchester United second place in the Premier League. the clean sheet also means that David De Gea has won the Golden Glove this season.

the New York Yankees won again last night, 9-6 over Boston. to think this team started the season 9-9 and is now 26-10 is fucking amazing. they haven't had a stretch like this since 1953. CC is on the hill tonight as the first place Yankees go for the sweep of Boston.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

NXT was pretty good last night.

Being Serena was excellent last night. it certainly brought back some memories of my time in the hospital for blood clots and pulmonary embolisms. good times.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News tonight, the season finale of The Big Bang Theory, the season finale of Young Sheldon, Gotham and the season finale of Atlanta.

mom's allergies were so bad today she had to cancel her physical therapy appointment. that allowed me to get a little extra sleep today. i think i got about 6 hours total. i do feel much better. i still have a little bit of a cough now and then. but, i'm not coughing my head off or bringing up much anymore. so, hopefully i will be good to go by the weekend.

the gift i ordered for Mother's Day arrived today. i was starting to worry it wasn't going to be here before the weekend.

the curse of creativity...

i woke up this morning at 6:45 to a jolt of pain. i thought it had something to do with the storms rolling through. about 30 minutes later, i thought maybe the pain was something else. when i saw the news that Chris Cornell had died, i was shocked. 52 is way too soon for that voice to be gone. and then i started hearing the news that it was suicide. i immediately thought back to my freshman year of high school when i saw Soundgarden open for Guns N' Roses. i have always thought of creativity as this dangerous weapon. just as much as you put it out in the world, it takes that much or even more away from the person with it. i think much like comedy, creativity comes from pain. the true broken souls are often these delicate beautiful creatures that give so much to the world. but, we live in a society that is totally disposable. most couldn't give two shits about delicate souls. and people wonder why this world sucks so damn much...

music has gotten me through so much in my life. it's always been the only friend that never stabbed me in the back. and being a poet, the words are just as important as the melody. and being a teenager in the Grunge era, all those songs are what my existence is built upon. to think that most of them are all gone now is rather humbling. it also brings about a reality that i certainly know exists. the hard part of being honest with yourself is knowing one day you'll be a tragedy just like them. it doesn't exactly make for a great life, but it's great for the poems.

thank you Chris for all the wonderful music over the years. thanks for sharing that voice that will live forever. may your family find comfort and may you rest in peace. say hello to everyone for me.

as you might imagine, this day has been really shitty for me. between arthritis and depression, i have no clue where this resolve to not be a junkie has come from. i'm writing this a little earlier than usual as i know i will HAVE to write later today.

NXT was really good last night. i think the Takeover: Chicago event this Saturday is going to be amazing.

the New York Yankees tried to piss away a win last night, but ultimately won 11-7. they will go for the sweep later tonight.
