well, i started off my 49th year on this planet waking up to a leg cramp and listening to mom puke in her bathroom. i guess that pretty much sums up life. i thank everyone for the wishes and i love what mom got me for my birthday (books, a new coat, etc.). i guess you can say Ohio State got me a huge gift last night.
Ohio State defeated Notre Dame, 34-23, to win the national championship last night.
Monday Night Raw was very good last night.
and now the flipside of my birthday. our oven won't get over 370 degrees. we can still cook on the stovetop. i tried all the troubleshooting last night. nothing worked. so, i put in a call to an appliance repair company today and left a message. i have no damn clue when or if i will get a call back. good times.
so, i'm guessing my birthday meal tonight will be me going to get something at one of the fast food places in town. exactly how i wanted to spend my 49th birthday.
i made a little vow to myself when i went to sleep at 4:45 AM this morning. my goal is to not be sleeping alone on my 50th birthday. now, i know that goes against reality of my life at the moment, but i thought putting it out into the universe couldn't hurt.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be NXT and St. Denis Medical.
the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Duquesne.
the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Ottawa.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.
i was saddened to learn that Garth Hudson, the last surviving member of The Band, passed away today.
so, the first thing i saw this morning was the death of Meat Loaf. and then later, i saw the news of the death of Louie Anderson. not exactly how i wanted to spend my 46th birthday, stewing in the news of two people that brought me great joy in my life and their deaths, which of course meant, i would be thinking about my own. my mother and sister got me some great presents this year; books, coffee, music, etc. all of which will be enjoyed.
this is going to be a quick one today as i think we're going to be eating dinner here soon.
Vice News Tonight had a good two shows this week. the show comes back in February.
Young Sheldon was very funny last night.
United States of Al was good last night.
B Positive was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, AEW Rampage, Real Time with Bill Maher and Back On the Record with Bob Costas. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.
the New York Rangers play tonight at Carolina. this should be a good measuring stick to see how good the Rangers actually are this season. plus, 5 former Rangers play for Carolina, so that should be interesting.
i should be on here tomorrow sometime before Manchester United plays West Ham.
thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes. i really appreciate them.
and thanks to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:
so, i turned 45 today. my sister called this morning to wish me a happy birthday and to remind me i'm old. that made me laugh as she is only 18 months younger than i am.
i took mom to her foot doctor today. we got there early and it went pretty fast. he's retiring soon, so she has to go to a new one before too long. after that, we decided to try out this BBQ place on the way home. it had been years since we had been there. they have a drive-thru now, so we decided to do that. i had the brisket sandwich and my mother got some smoked wings. i have to say, Company 7 BBQ has some really fucking good food.
NXT was really good last night.
AEW was pretty good last night as well.
The Masked Dancer was good last night.
Name That Tune was excellent last night. i think i shocked my mother at how fast i recognized some of the songs.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, B Positive, The Unicorn, Total Bellas and Cari & Jemele Won't Stick to Sports. i'll watch NXT UK sometime tonight on WWE Network.
i did watch a good portion of Liverpool losing today. that me really fucking happy.
i figure if i get bored tonight, i'll flip over to some hockey and/or NBA basketball.
i should be on here tomorrow before my sister comes down for the weekend.
thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. i really appreciate it.
and thanks to everyone for checking out my latest SoundCloud recording:
i turned 44 today. as usual, i have spent today in pain and working on getting some poems out. i've got my third load of laundry in the washer and i have trash to pick up. joy.
no big plans this evening that i'm aware of. i'll probably be watching the Rangers vs. Islanders game tonight, hoping the Rangers win so i can have a drink on my birthday. hell, maybe even a shot.
i sent out 11 poems this morning; 3 each to Mad Swirl and Yellow Mama; 5 to Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
Monday Night Raw had some good moments last night and plenty of moments where i switched the channel.
The New Pope was very good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be WWE Backstage.
other than the hockey game, i'll probably watch some college basketball tonight as well.
i'm really hoping Derek Jeter will be elected to the baseball hall of fame later today with 100% of the vote.
i still have the trash to pick up here and next door, so that's pretty much it for me kids.
in the music section today, i have my 5 favorite songs of all-time.
i will be on here in the morning tomorrow as my Wednesday is going to be a busy one.
until then kids...
thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, i do appreciate them.

before i get to the positives of today, amazingly there was a few, i first have to wade through all the fucking negatives from yesterday.
when the New Orleans Saints got up yesterday 13-0, i really wished those early field goals could have been touchdowns. i just had a feeling that would come back to haunt them. sure enough, along with the worst fucking blown call i have seen in my fucking life, the Saints ended up losing to the Rams yesterday, 26-23 in OT. i was hoping by waiting a day to write about it, i wouldn't still be pissed. no such luck. part of me would love to find the blind fuck that missed the most blatant pass interference in the history of the sport, and kill him. that won't solve anything, but it would please the fuck out of me. i can only hope now the league changes some fucking rules or something, but that won't solve the travesty from yesterday. of course, the Saints could have done a few things differently and the call wouldn't have mattered. but, i'm so fucking used to the heartbreak with this team, i'm nearly fucking numb.
the Patriots beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, 37-31 in OT. so the Super Bowl will be the Rams vs. Patriots. fuck, i hope the commercials are good.
at least the shows last night were pretty good.
True Detective was really good last night.
Crashing was pretty funny last night.
High Maintenance was hilarious last night.
Total Bellas was good last night.
Shameless was excellent last night.
SMILF was pretty good last night.
Black Monday was fucking hilarious last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Celebrity Big Brother. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
my mother and sister got me some really nice things for my birthday this year. some clothes, a couple books, liquor, music and money... those things always hit the spot.
i did do a little poetry work today. i think i know where my next 18 poems are going. i wanted to get those out today, but honestly, a good portion of my will to live was extinguished yesterday. so, i think i need to build that back up first.
i hope everyone had a good weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to physical therapy.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
today became a birthday of getting shit done. i woke up in a decent enough mood and decided to be a glutton for punishment. i started typing up poems. exactly how any asshole who thinks himself to be a poet should spend his time at 7 in the morning on his birthday. in my utopia, i would be getting a blowjob while eating grapes. in reality, i'm wondering why my fingers don't work as fast on this keyboard.
anywho, i sent 16 poems out today. 3 to The Camel Saloon and 6 each to ZYX and The Stray Branch. when i hear back from these places, i'll pass along the verdicts.
i deposited my birthday money today at the bank. i also entered the gift card my mother got me for amazon.com. i'm not planning on getting anything from there until the move is complete. but, once that happens, i feel sorry for the postal service. i also got a New Orleans Saints shirt, some comfy house shoes, a Dayton Flyers scarf, and a book about Dayton's run to the Elite 8 last season. all in all, not a bad birthday at all.
mom and i went to the sports bar for my birthday this afternoon. when the waitress found out it was my birthday, she asked if i was turning 21. i laughed and noticed the ring on finger and thought to myself, if only... the drinks were a little stiff, which i certainly didn't mind.
now for the sports last night... the Dayton Flyers were due for a stinker. of course, they chose to play that one on national television after getting ranked in the top 25 for the first time this season. they got whipped in every aspect of the game by Davidson last night, 77-60. and quite honestly, it wasn't that close. but, shit happens. they are still 15-3. they play Richmond at home on Saturday night.
while Dayton was playing like shit, the New York Rangers were following right along. to say i was frustrated was an understatement. thankfully, New York came alive in the 3rd period and got the game to OT. and then, this happened:
what a great fucking way to go into the All-Star break. here are the highlights from the whole game:
tonight i'm planning on watching Lucha Underground and American Horror Story. i might watch some hockey as well. and then late tonight, i'm going to catch up on some podcasts while eating some birthday cake.
i also got a haircut today. the barber almost didn't recognize me without my goatee. he then asked how old i was. when i told him i turned 39 today, he was stunned. he remembers when my mother brought me in as a child. now, the funny part of this is this may have been the first time we have spoken outside of how do you want this cut in over a decade. after that, we shot the shit about sports for the next 20 minutes or so.
thankfully, my truck started right up today. i hadn't started it for almost a month. of course, i had to put some air in the tires, but it ran great. that takes a huge burden off of my mind.
ok, that's all for me today. i have some birthday cake waiting for me. thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. i truly do appreciate them.
thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

music:
Shinedown - Sound of Madness
Jim Croce - You Don't Mess Around with Jim
Dead Man Fall - Bang Your Drum
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Live)
Grant Lee Buffalo - Fuzzy
today i turned 38. to celebrate, i gave myself a ridiculous haircut and sent out some poems. nothing quite like being a genius that has grown bored and tired.
as for the haircut, my best way of describing it... it's like a bad toupee. my mother hates it so i immediately love it. we'll see how long it lasts.
as for the poems, i sent out 5 to My Favorite Bullet and 6 to ZYX. more on this in the next post.
the weather has took a turn to shit here. a windchill somewhere in the -15 area. it certainly was not fun clearing off the walks this morning and feeding the cats. i'll hand it to the cats though, they are amazingly all still alive and generally healthy.
i had a good laugh today at all the Manchester United rumors. ah, just love the silly season.
also some juicy New York Yankees rumors going around as well. more on that hopeful good news later in the week.
Monday Night Raw disappointed me last night. it had all the makings of being great but just seemed a step off at times. not surprising, considering the building they were in is a 13,000 seat dump. with the worse parking design ever. sort of happy i didn't go now.
tonight, for my birthday, the New York Rangers play the team i have hated since i was a child, the New York Islanders. sadly, the King is sick tonight, so i'm really hopeful Cam Talbot continues his great play. i'll be really fucking pissed if i'm not drinking a victory beer sometime tonight.
other than that, i'm sure i'll be bouncing between some college basketball, other hockey games, and some NBA games since they are FREE this week. might as well take advantage of it.
hopefully my arm feels a little better tomorrow and i'll set up my new camera and maybe take some shots with it.
a big thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today. i really appreciate it.
hope this finds everyone well. hope your heat is going strong. let's just say that every heater in this joint will be on at some point tonight.
peace and chicken grease.
music:

today is my 37th birthday. got a little birthday snow from mother nature.
thankfully, not as much snow as they got south of me. 2 huge wrecks as well. oh, as you can also tell, got a digital camera from my mother. i will try to bring some pictures to this blog. hopefully. got some pretty cool shit from my sister as well. a hockey jersey, new wallet, playing cards, birthday cinnamon toast crunch muffins, etc. not bad at all.
as for my sports teams, what a weekend to forget. 2 losses by the New York Rangers. too depressing to even go on about. 2 points dropped by Manchester United. that made my birthday lunch way more subdued than i was planning for. i was way too pissed to enjoy much at all.
i did manage to get 1 of the NFL playoff games right. not really looking forward to the Super Bowl. of course, maybe in 2 weeks i'll be hyped for it. who knows.
thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. i imagine i'll spend the rest of the day fucking around with my camera, watching some sports, get a little reading in and perhaps some sleep as the temps fall to the single digits. not sure how well i'll sleep while thinking about the possibility of old pipes freezing. fun.
music today:
Tom Waits - Mule Variations
