happy birthday to me

so, the first thing i saw this morning was the death of Meat Loaf. and then later, i saw the news of the death of Louie Anderson. not exactly how i wanted to spend my 46th birthday, stewing in the news of two people that brought me great joy in my life and their deaths, which of course meant, i would be thinking about my own. my mother and sister got me some great presents this year; books, coffee, music, etc. all of which will be enjoyed.

this is going to be a quick one today as i think we're going to be eating dinner here soon.

Vice News Tonight had a good two shows this week. the show comes back in February.

Young Sheldon was very funny last night.

United States of Al was good last night.

B Positive was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, AEW Rampage, Real Time with Bill Maher and Back On the Record with Bob Costas. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Carolina. this should be a good measuring stick to see how good the Rangers actually are this season. plus, 5 former Rangers play for Carolina, so that should be interesting.

i should be on here tomorrow sometime before Manchester United plays West Ham.

thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes. i really appreciate them.

and thanks to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:

nothing went as planned today

so, i was supposed to take mom to physical therapy today. after that, she was going to get her bloodwork done. i made that appointment late last night. while she was getting ready this morning, she started feeling sick. and then she had a hard time standing up, even with her walker. so, i had to cancel all the appointments and i gave her a cold washcloth and told her to go to sleep. i'm trying to figure out if it was her rushing this morning that got her sick or was it all she tried to do yesterday and that made her sick today. good times. and now throw in some medical shit with my sister and you can imagine my stress level today.

the Dayton Flyers defeated Virginia Tech yesterday, 62-57. i loved the way Dayton played defense yesterday and when they can actually make shots, they could compete with just about anyone in the country. that being said, they have already proven they can lose to anyone in the country as well. but, this was a huge victory for them.

the New Orleans Saints defeated the New York Jets yesterday, 30-9. i'm so happy that fucking losing streak is over now.

the New York Rangers lost to Nashville last night, 1-0. just one of those games where the goalie steals one.

Axios was good last night.

the season finale of Succession was amazing last night.

Insecure was very good last night. hard to believe there are only 2 episodes left.

Curb Your Enthusiasm was very funny last night.

Power Book II: Ghost was excellent last night.

Hightown was good last night.

VICE was good last night.

Dexter: New Blood was excellent last night.

Yellowjackets was great last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and night one of The Voice season finale.

i did listen to episode 373 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:

i'm going to try to get the blog done tomorrow in the morning. i have a doctor's appointment in the afternoon.

Manchester United was supposed to play tomorrow afternoon, but that game has been postponed since United are going through a COVID outbreak at the moment. i did see the Champions League fiasco this morning. United got the better draw the second time around.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i need to go figure out what i am making for dinner.

two out of three ain't bad...

i can't remember the last time we had a real snowfall before Thanksgiving. i checked my phone this morning and saw that the snow was getting ready to start. so, i got my ass out there and got the paper before it started snowing too bad. add in a good breeze and the shit is coming sideways. welcome to winter.

so, do i start with the good or the bad today. fuck it, let me change it up and start with the good.

i did get to see the first quarter or so of the Ohio State game yesterday. when i left, Ohio State was up 28-7. they ended up winning the game over Perdue, 59-31. hopefully, that is how they will play for the rest of the season.

the New York Rangers won in Columbus last night, defeating the Blue Jackets, 5-3. they are home tonight, playing against the Devils.

and now comes the negative. the Dayton Flyers, an 18 point favorite in the game, lost to UMass Lowell, 59-58, last night. Dayton played way too slow, had way too many turnovers and couldn't get off a good shot when it mattered. either the team doesn't know the offense yet, or worse, the opponents know the offense better than Dayton does. Coach Grant begged for the fans to stick with the team and stressed how young they are, etc. but, when there is no consistent effort and the coach refuses to switch up lineups or defenses or the plays, my fears are getting closer to reality. this "team" hasn't found a way to play better than their opponents yet. and when you lose a game like that, you can kiss any post season basketball away unless that is going to be your only bad loss of the season. and trust me, it won't be.

Saturday Night Live was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Axios, Vice, BMF, Hightown, Succession, Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Last Week Tonight, Dexter: New Blood, Yellowjackets and Desus & Mero.

the New Orleans Saints play this afternoon at the Titans. i'm not expecting the Saints will win. i'm hoping i will be surprised.

i think we're getting more snow than the experts thought we were going to get. good times.

i should be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her doctor's appointment. thankfully, it is in the afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday will be even better.

so yeah, snow...

we got about an inch of snow last night. just once in my life, i want to live in a place where snow in April isn't a fucking possibility. mom just said it was snowing sideways while i was back in my room going through the cards i got today. of course, the sun came out and now everything is just wet.

grocery shopping was a bit nuts today. i had to go to 4 stores to get everything, which i almost did except Meijer was out of the coffee mom likes there. i did get some baseball, football and hockey cards today. there were hits in both the baseball and football boxes from Fairfield. the hockey cards were from Upper Deck. there were a few good ones in the 2 packs i got.

NXT was great last night.

Young Rock was good last night.

Kenan was pretty funny last night.

Mayans M.C. was excellent last night.

Deadliest Catch was very good last night.

the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night by the Islanders, 6-1.

the Yankees finally won a game last night, defeating Atlanta, 3-1. hopefully they beat the Braves again tonight.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, AEW, the season finale of Snowfall and The Masked Singer.

i should be on here tomorrow while doing my laundry.

i did get a good laugh at the Super League in Europe failing as quickly as it did. if anything good did come out of it, it was the fact that Ed Woodward is finally going to leave Manchester United. thank fucking god.

i need to get cracking on dinner tonight. i think i am making some bacon cheeseburgers.

two out of three ain't bad...

i think i went to bed this morning around 5. considering i was up 4 hours later, this is obviously a day i'm setting myself up for a crash. hopefully, it doesn't come while i am driving.

Manchester United won yesterday 3-0 in the Champions League. Paul Pogba scored 2 goals and Anthony Martial scored the third. i got to see some highlights and hopefully, this is the way United will play for the rest of the season.

the New York Yankees whipped Boston last night, 10-1. i would love to see the Yankees get the sweep tonight and prevent Boston from winning the division for yet another night.

the New York Rangers lost to the Flyers last night 6-4. i expect plenty of these types of nights during the regular season. the Rangers will be entertaining but still a little too young to win these types of games.

205 Live was pretty good last night.

NXT was excellent last night.

Mae Young Classic was really good last night.

Big Brother was good last night. i can't believe JC won that HOH. either Tyler or Angela gets voted out tonight. oh boy.

Mr. Mercedes was really, really good last night.

American Horror Story was fucking perverse and excellent last night.

Total Divas was pretty good last night.

Lucha Underground was good last night, although i never would have taken the title off of Pentagon.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother and the season finale of Snowfall.

i did listen to episode 204 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can find that by going here:
https://soundcloud.com/srwrestling/shinsuke-nakamura-carmella

i will probably watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Jets and Browns. for the sake of my life, i hope the Jets win. the last thing i want is for my mother and the muse to be pissed off that the Jets lost, especially to the Browns.

i need to get ready to take mom down to Best Buy to drop off her laptop and set up for them to take our old television on the weekend.

i think she wants to go out to lunch after that. i have no clue where we will go.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store.

one of these days i'll get to sleep forever...

i believe a cold front moved through overnight, as i tossed and fucking turned all night long. not exactly the kind of sleep i wanted going into a day i knew i would be sending out some poems. i'd like to think i do my best work when i'm feeling my best. of course, if that was true, my work has been shit for the last few years. no comments from the peanut gallery please.

i sent out 12 poems today; 6 to ZYX and 3 each to Dead Snakes and In Between Hangovers. i'll post the verdicts when i hear back from these places.

the New York Yankees pissed away lead after lead last night. thankfully, they are finally starting to show some heart and some fucking resolve. they battled back each time and eventually won 10-7. they will go for another series win in the game tonight.

The Voice is now at the point of the season where everyone left is talented enough to win the whole thing. of course, that wouldn't have been the case if Nick would have stayed last night.
there are now 8 left in the competition. i could see 6 of them winning the whole thing.

Deadliest Catch was pretty damn interesting last night.

i did catch the overtime of the Capitals vs. Penguins last night. i laughed when Pittsburgh scored to eliminate Washington. i have to think that Ovechkin knows at this point he's never going to win it all in Washington. perhaps they trade him to a certain team in New York that they once traded Jagr to. just a thought. the Penguins will now play Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Final. i'll only watch because there are ex-Rangers on each team.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT and some other shit on WWE Network tonight. also, i'll flip between some baseball and a Game 7 in the NHL.

i had an interesting talk at the post office today. i wasn't expecting the person behind the counter to tell me about her drug problem. her eyes got a little wide when i told her my pain tolerance is such that i can take 3 Percocets and they won't even phase me. i told her i'm not going to become an addict just so i don't feel pain. i was about to explain my theory on finding the pleasure in the pain but an old lady walked in. but i imagine the poems are going to get interesting.

today has been one of those days where the arthritis has won most of the day. when the body aches just sitting, you know it's a no win situation.

i listened to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. i highly recommend checking out his interview with EC3. it's a must listen.
you can check it out on the right hand side of this blog or by going to:

that's all for me kids. i hope there's a little sunshine where you live.
