my mother asked me last night if i was happy. the first thing that came out of my mouth was about as much as i am allowed. this of course started a discussion that i didn't feel like having in the middle of a college football game. given my upbringing and all the shit that came with that, happiness is a relative term. i have ever truly been happy? probably not. do i believe happiness exists? i'm sure it does. she then asked why i'm not happy. and i basically told her, any time i got to a point where i should be happy, something or someone made damn sure to bring me back down. and my most obvious example of this was the first time i ever got paid for something i wrote. the first thing my mother asked me was if i had to use my real name? that infuriated me and still does to this very day. she wasn't happy or proud or anything like that, she was more concerned on what could possibly happen to her professional career if someone connected the dots. and people wonder why i'm fucked in the head. good times.
Ohio State whipped Western Kentucky yesterday, 63-10. that's more like it. they play at Notre Dame next week.

i got up this morning and made biscuits and gravy. i wanted to give mom a "treat" as she has had a busy week. plus, with the remodeling going on, she doesn't get to sleep as much as she would like to or need to. and then we started to watch the Manchester United game against Liverpool. let's just say, i was proud of myself for turning the game off when United got down 2-0. as i told my mother later this afternoon, i would like to think that is a sign of maturity. and i know i couldn't have taken much more of it, especially since United lost 7-0. that is beyond frustrating or embarrassing, etc. just fucking pathetic.
we went to Rite Aid this afternoon. i got my COVID updated booster shot finally. mom was getting that as well as starting her shingles vaccine. the pharmacist recently graduated from college, so you could tell he wasn't exactly comfortable at giving the shots just yet. and then i fucked with him when i told him mom was a former nurse. he got pretty fucking nervous then. but, we got the shots and some things we needed from Rite Aid. by the time we got back home, the guy that mom called to fix our mailbox was just finishing up. he was hoping mom was going to pay cash, but she wisely never has much cash here. so he took the check and i'm pretty sure he's going to get it cashed somewhere today.

i really haven't done much today. i was up at 7 and got a little nap in around noon. nothing in the mail for me today and nothing is really hitting me for any poems. i know i should be writing about the war, but i've written so many damn poems about all the previous wars i have seen, nothing original is coming to mind.

one of my favorite blogs to write every damn year. if you know me or have read this blog over the years, you know how much i hated my father. so, i raise my glass today to all the good fathers out there and to all the dead ones that were total pieces of shit. the sad thing is, when i am alone or out driving and catch a quick glimpse of myself, i see my father. so, if my life ends in a sudden death, you'll understand why.
i wrote 4 poems yesterday. i really think they are good. i know where my next 12 poems are going to be sent to. i am hoping to get those submissions out tomorrow.

as much as i want to believe i might have stumbled across the dream woman in the last few days, i'm also painfully aware i am 45 years old, i don't have much money, my health isn't the greatest and good shit never happens to me. so yeah, that small grain of optimism has its work cut out for it to survive in this bleak hell.
your poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Jack Henry.
i turned 44 today. as usual, i have spent today in pain and working on getting some poems out. i've got my third load of laundry in the washer and i have trash to pick up. joy.
no big plans this evening that i'm aware of. i'll probably be watching the Rangers vs. Islanders game tonight, hoping the Rangers win so i can have a drink on my birthday. hell, maybe even a shot.
i sent out 11 poems this morning; 3 each to Mad Swirl and Yellow Mama; 5 to Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

i went this morning to get the x-rays done for my spine and neck. i had 5 x-rays done and given the positions my body was in, i'm 99.999999% sure the problem is in my neck. as i told my mother when i got home, it's a damn good thing my pain tolerance is as high as it is or that woman doing the x-rays would have got punched in the fucking face. my right arm was on fucking fire. now i have to wait for central scheduling to call and schedule my EMG. joy.
i went and got some breakfast and brought it back to the house. after i got done eating, i iced my back down and of course fell asleep for about 30 minutes. and now after going through over 300 emails... i told my mother the next time i haven't checked my email by noon, just go ahead and put a gun in my mouth.
the New York Yankees won last night over the Rangers, 14-7. hopefully the offense shows up again tonight.
WWE Smackdown's Greatest Hits was sort of like a class for anyone who hasn't watched WWE in the last 20 years but is planning on doing so now that Smackdown will be on FOX.
Murder in the Bayou was fucking great last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.
Room 104 was fucking crazy last night.

Ohio State plays tonight at Nebraska. i'm very interested to see how Ohio State plays in a very hostile environment.
i will probably spend most of the day icing my body down in my massage chair.
the New York Rangers play their final preseason game tonight against the Islanders. i'm sure i'll see the highlights at some point tonight.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

i finally got the 10 poems i wrote typed up last night. i think they are pretty good. i think all of them are going to be included in my next round of submissions. i figured out where the next 29 poems are going to go this morning. that will happen sometime next week.
the grocery store yesterday was a fucking zoo. i waited in line at the pharmacy for 30 fucking minutes. and then the cashier rang up the wrong pills for my mother. she tried to correct her mistake and the register froze on her. she had me move two registers down and she rang it up correctly. i should have known that was a precursor of what was to come. 2 hours later, i was in the Highlander driving back home. thankfully, i got home and got the groceries put away before the USA played Russia.
when Russia got their goal taken away from them yesterday, it seemed like they went flat for almost 2 periods. the USA was up 2-0 before Russia eventually scored. from that, the USA just held on and it worked. the USA defeated Russia 2-1 at the World Juniors and will play Finland tonight for the gold medal. the look on the Russians when they lost was priceless. the joy i will get from thinking of that moment should get me through the year.
the New York Rangers lost in Colorado last night, 6-1. thank god i didn't watch much of the game.
NJPW last night was 3 matches from Wrestle Kingdom 13, which took place earlier in the day in Japan. that was a fun 2 hours of television. i think the broadcasts will get better by using the people actually calling the matches in the arena. kudos to AXS TV for making that switch.
when i woke up this morning, Manchester United was already up 1-0. they eventually won the match over Reading 2-0. another victory, another clean sheet, and advancing in the FA Cup. that's a good start to my Saturday.
enjoy some music:

i will spend most of today watching some college basketball and the start of the NFL playoffs. i know today the Colts play the Texans and the Cowboys play the Seahawks.
i found out today that Instagram deleted my account. they said i violated their terms. i guess it's because i don't have a cell phone and i don't have a Facebook account. oh well.
i will be on here in the morning tomorrow as Dayton plays Richmond tomorrow at noon. i don't think mom is going to the game with me.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i wrote yesterday in this blog how Montreal is a house of horrors for the New York Rangers. last night was the perfect fucking example. the Rangers were up 3-2 in the 3rd period and Montreal scored 3 goals in 62 seconds to eventually win the game 5-4. it usually takes the Rangers a few years to score 4 goals on Carey Price, so it's incredibly disheartening to see them score 4 on him and still find a fucking way to lose. that building could burn to the fucking ground and i wouldn't shed one damn tear.
the Dayton Flyers started off great yesterday and did pretty much what i wanted them to do. of course, since they won, someone had to get injured in the process. hopefully Kyle Davis didn't sprain his ankle too bad. Dayton won yesterday over Duquesne 76-57. their next game is at home against league leading Richmond. since Dayton hasn't posted any video from the game, here's Duquense's coach talking about how his team got emasculated.
the WWE UK tournament yesterday was fantastic. i really enjoyed the matches and i thought Nigel McGuinness did a great job on commentary. i can't wait to see who wins the tournament later today. the obvious choice would be Pete Dunne, but i wouldn't be surprised if the WWE did a little swerve either.
Saturday Night Live was really good last night. i might have enjoyed Sturgill Simpson a little more than the comedy though.
ROH was excellent last night. it was good to see Cody Rhodes wrestle again.
Austin City Limits was much better than i thought it was going to be last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be The Young Pope, Homeland and The Affair.
i will probably also watch some of the NFL playoffs today as well.
of course, all of that depends on how Manchester United vs. Liverpool turns out. i really hope United drops the hammer on them today.
i'm not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i have a doctor's appointment in the morning and at some damn point this week i have to get my driver's license renewed. oh goody.

today was one of those days that i truly didn't feel like doing shit. it stormed all night long and all i did was toss and turn all night. i think i might have got a little over 4 hours of sleep. that's probably why i have been napping on and off all day long.
my mother is probably horrified by this, but i truly enjoy going out to get the paper or the trash cans in what i slept in. now, i'm a good neighbor, i'll put on a shirt and maybe even a coat. but who doesn't love the sight of a fat ass in torn Superman shorts coming out to pick up the trash? good times.
i found out today that the New York Rangers best defenseman, Kevin Klein, broke his thumb last night and is out indefinitely. not exactly what i was hoping for.
Total Divas had me howling last night, mostly because it solidifies all my thoughts about how women tear each other apart ALL the time. i will say though, Mandy Rose is one of the most beautiful women i think i have seen in my life. and i really don't like blondes that much.
The Muppets was great last night. i loved that the show seemed a bit quicker and a little fresh.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
tonight on the DVR will be Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT on WWE Network after that.
i guess it's supposed to get "cold" for the next couple of days and then go right back into the 40's again. hopefully we have more than just a couple days of winter left. i could do without the ice but i wouldn't mind a little snow here and there.
the poems i got published at Napalm and Novocain were about three different women. so i've been reeling in the memories all day long it seems. this is one time where i wish my mind would forget more shit than it currently does.
that's all for me today kids. not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i have bills to pay and i think i should probably get a haircut soon.
