at least i made a little money...

i made a bet back in August last year that the Kansas City Chiefs would win the Super Bowl. after last night, i wish i would have been able to put more on that bet. but, the one rule i stick to when gambling is only bet what you can afford to lose. so, i put $1 down on it and won $9 last night when the Chiefs won in overtime over the 49ers, 25-22. i thought the game eventually got good. halftime was really good. the commercials were sort of hit and miss for me, but there were more hits than misses. add in the nachos i made for dinner and all in all, it was a pretty good night.

here are your videos for this day of Black History Month:

Manchester United won yesterday at Aston Villa, 2-1.

the season finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan was great.

time for the Super Bowl...

so, i got up this morning and went right back to bed. it seems like anytime i go to bed before 3 AM, i am up sometime before 7. i eventually got out of bed around 7:45. i made cinnamon rolls this morning. i figure since it is Super Bowl Sunday, it will be a day of grazing for the most part. we had some pork last night. i'm going to turn the leftovers into nachos today. and i've got two different kinds of chicken for today, so i think we're set.

the New York Knicks won at home last night over Utah, 126-120.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i won all my NBA bets last night. i didn't do as well in college basketball and the NHL sadly. i got a few bets on soccer, hockey and basketball today. the majority of my bets are on the Super Bowl. hopefully, i will have a profitable day.

Austin City Limits was good last night.

Marc Maron: From Bleak to Dark was fucking hilarious last night. i highly recommend it.

Manchester United won today at Leeds, 2-0. Rashford and Garnacho both scored in the second half. the win puts United in second place for the time being.

i really don't care who wins the Super Bowl today between the Chiefs and Eagles. i'm just hoping for a high scoring game and for my parlay bets to hit.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

so, quite a bit has gone on since we last spoke...

just as i was finishing up the blog yesterday, the news broke about the death of Bill Russell. now, as a basketball fan and as someone who tries to champion human rights as much as i can, i was always aware of Bill Russell. any of you too young to know much about him, do yourself a favor and learn everything you can about the man.

and then later in the day, i saw the news about the death of Nichelle Nichols. the inner geek in me was crushed by this one. i have always found black women to be beautiful and she was one of the first ones to really light my imagination.

the Yankees bullpen pissed away a win yesterday. they lost to the Royals, 8-6. in response to that, the Yankees GM made two fantastic trades today to sure up the bullpen and add a top of the rotation arm as well. i think they will make a few minor trades before the deadline tomorrow, but they are fully equipped to go win the World Series now.

Big Brother was good last night.

Westworld was fucking great last night. just two episodes remain in this season.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

Vice was excellent last night.

The Chi was great last night.

City on a Hill was really good last night.

Flatbush Misdemeanors was pretty funny last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw, Don't Forget the Lyrics and Industry.

the Yankees start a series tonight at home against Seattle. this could be a possible playoff matchup, so i'm hoping the Yankees play well and win.

i did listen to episode 406 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:

mom had some cleaning ladies out here today. i wasn't that impressed with what they did, mostly because i'm not a fan of cleaning and then forgetting where everything was to begin with. she also had a guy out here doing the measurements for the bathroom remodel. i get the feeling i'm going to have to make the decisions on everything as she procrastinates about all of this shit. good times.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank and Rite Aid. i'm hoping to get all that and the blog done before mom has physical therapy in the afternoon.

not how i wanted to start my weekend...

so, like the devoted fan i am, i got up at 7:15 this morning to watch Manchester United. i went to bed a little after 3 in the morning. 4 hours more or less, ok, let's go. and much like the last game, Manchester United got up 1-0 from a Jadon Sancho goal. and just like the last game, a few minutes into the second half, United pissed away that lead. and i guess this is the new normal. United and Southampton finished 1-1. honestly, i don't think United wants to finish in the top 4. so fucking frustrating to watch.

team USA men's hockey team defeated Canada for the first time in 12 years at the Olympics last night, 4-2. i didn't see that one coming.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty funny last night.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

AEW Rampage was excellent last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was very funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i suppose i'll flip between the Olympics and college basketball.

the Dayton Flyers play at home this afternoon against George Washington. i believe the game is on ESPN+. it snowed here this morning. you add that with my Manchester United frustration and i think i'll watch the game at home today.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow, long before the Super Bowl starts.

i told my mother last night if the Bengals win the Super Bowl, i'll be interested to see how many drunks fall into the Ohio river while celebrating.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

what a day...

so, mom slept in, so everything i had planned got pushed back hours and hours. joy. i did go out card hunting today. i found some football cards at the Rite-Aid near the Kroger i shop at. i paid $5 for the box and they had around $15 worth of cards in it. i went to Big Lots before i went there. they only had 2 packs of cards left. so, i ended up getting some bubble mailers and a R2D2 funko pop so i could use the coupon. of course, the lady running the cash register scanned my rewards card and the coupon and then ripped both up. joy. so, i have to print out a new rewards card now. the 2019 Topps Opening Day pack had a few goods cards in it. the 2020 Topps Heritage pack had a card in it that is selling for $11. so, that made me happy. i did finally find some 2021 Topps Series 1 at Meijer today. i got 5 packs of that, which come with some purple parallels as well. i fucking love these cards. i got some really damn good rookies and some great inserts. i can see exactly why these cards are going to be harder than shit to find. at Kroger today, i had to pick up mom's really expensive pills. thankfully, she printed the GoodRx coupon for it and saved around $350. everywhere was fucking crowded as hell today. there's a winter storm coming this weekend and you would think the world was fucking ending. and of course, Valentine's Day is Sunday. who gives a shit.

i did write 2 poems last night. those 2 poems filled up that notebook. i always have a good feeling when i fill one of those up. the last poem i wrote is probably the best thing i have written in months. hopefully, i'll have a few more poems to start filling up the new notebook this weekend.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Young Sheldon was pretty funny last night.

B Positive was good last night.

The Unicorn was very good last night.

Clarice was pretty good last night. i think i'm going to like the show, mostly because i loved the movie.

Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.

here comes the snow...

the weather "experts" around here said the storm that was coming would start off with rain and the snow line would be a few miles north of us. of course, just more bullshit. it started off as ice and now has turned over to snow. so, i'm guessing we're going to be part of that 2 to 4 inches of snow line now. good times.

the Dayton Flyers whipped Rhode Island last night, 81-67. Dayton started the game on a 17-0 run that was just fucking lovely to watch. sadly, three assholes wearing stripes decided that the sell out crowd was actually there to see them. 52 fucking fouls were called in the game, including 7 technicals. what a fucking joke. Dayton is now 22-2 on the season. they are still undefeated in league play. they play this Saturday at UMass. they have won 13 games in a row.

Ali & Cavett: The Tale of the Tapes was pretty interesting last night.

WWE Backstage was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Masked Singer, NXT, AEW and Miz & Mrs.

the New York Rangers won last night in Winnipeg, 4-1. i believe Igor Shesterkin is the second coming for this team. the man is fucking amazing.

so far, sleeping out in the chair has worked pretty good for me. i will probably have to be in my bed tonight with the snow. i think most of my problems the other night was from not drinking enough water. i've been really trying to drink more and stay hydrated better. i guess i'll see if that works for me tonight.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. if we get 4 inches of snow, mom has these guys on call to clear off the driveway and sidewalks. she knows i would do it, but then my back wouldn't be worth a shit for the next 2 weeks or so.

figures winter finally fucking shows up in mid February.

not exactly what i was hoping for...

so when Manchester United started the game today, i was really hoping the positive momentum they have gained in the last few weeks was going to propel them. instead, PSG came out and showed that United still has a ways to go when competing against the top clubs in the world. it doesn't help either when the ref is giving out cards left and right in the first half. PSG won the game 2-0. those two away goals are huge when you think about it. but, when United goes go to Paris for the second leg, i'm hoping they play with some urgency, knowing their Champions League lives are at stake. i do like what Ole said after the match though. when told about the mountain in front of the team now, he replied they are there to be climbed.

we didn't get as much rain as i thought we were going to get today. but, it has also turned over to snow before i thought it was going to as well. thankfully, i got the trash out before it got too bad.

i thought Monday Night Raw was ok in spots last night. i don't want to shit on the end of it, when Vince took Becky Lynch out of the main event against Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania and inserted Charlotte Flair instead. i want to see what happens over the next few weeks. i think i know where it is going (triple threat match) but i'm hoping it leads to something bigger (power struggle between Vince and HHH perhaps). most of the show was forgettable, which is sad considering they have the Elimination Chamber ppv coming up on Sunday.

Celebrity Big Brother last night was just a recap episode of the season. the finale is on Wednesday.

i did get those 12 poems i wrote typed up this morning. i really like a few of them. i probably should get another round of submissions ready here soon.

i have a new rule to live by

so when i woke up this morning, i got on the computer and got to work. for some fucking reason, my printer wasn't working. i tried every little trick i knew and none of them worked. i then had to remove the printer from the computer and more or less reinstall it. that eventually worked, but only after i took some time away from it. i got a little breakfast, took a shit and now i have a new rule to live by.

never make any decisions in the morning before you take a shit.

good words to live by. once i got the printer figured out, it was time to start sending out some poems. i sent out 23 poems today; 3 each to Dead Snakes, Napalm and Novocain and Off The Coast; 4 poems to Hobo Camp Review and 5 poems each to Shot Glass Journal and The Literary Hatchet. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

to send to 3 of the places, i had to get a Submittable account. that went much better than i expected. so, a little pat on my back for defeating technology again today.

The Big Bang Theory was very good last night. the surprise they were mentioning in the ads for the show certainly was a surprise. i enjoyed the subtle way it came out as well. Life in Pieces was hilarious. Baskets was fucking bizarre and brilliant once again. and Lip Sync Battle was good. not great, but i can't complain with who was on the show.

WWE Smackdown was really good last night. i could watch Chris Jericho wrestle AJ Styles for the next few years and never get bored. hopefully they wrestle again on the next ppv.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

tonight is a bit of a clusterfuck on television. on the DVR will be NJPW, Treehouse Masters and VICE.

the Dayton Flyers are at Rhode Island tonight. they have lost their last 6 games there, so i'm hoping the boys have a win in them tonight.

at the same time, the New York Rangers are at home against the Los Angeles Kings. i really hope the Rangers can keep their winning streak going tonight as well.

if both teams win tonight, i will be a very happy boy. if both lose, i won't get much sleep, which will suck because Manchester United plays at the crack of fucking dawn tomorrow. so i'm really hoping for some wins so i can drink myself to sleep tonight.

for those of you in relationships, i truly hope you enjoy this coming weekend. for we single people, raise a glass of something strong and be happy you've never been arrested for buying it. for any depressed people that wish they were in a relationship this weekend, raise two glasses and remember there is always tomorrow and hopefully she brings along a friend.

i don't think i have been with anyone for Valentine's Day in over 20 years. to me the day is more about driving to a pharmacy with The Black Crowes song "She Talks To Angels" playing as i'm going to get some pills for my stepfather after he had another seizure. this would be 12 days before he died. hard to believe that's been 14 years ago now.

so, yeah. Cupid has done a shitty job with me. maybe one day i get to actually enjoy it and be the romantic fucker i always wanted to be. lord knows i can write the words down.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow afternoon, hopefully enjoying some victories or still slightly drunk from those victories.

when life gives you lemons, fuck life

i heard that line last night on Comedy Central. i believe i have found what is either going on my tombstone or as a tattoo on my arm.

today was the classic wake up at 4:30 in the morning and feel like you have got some great sleep even though you just went to bed two hours earlier. i couldn't get back to sleep at all this morning. so, i decided to fuck it and just start getting some shit done online. i did listen to two podcasts this morning, Men in Blazers new one and Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast with Adam Cole.

of course, after watching the Dan Patrick Show this morning (totally fucking hilarious, do check it out if you get a chance), i quickly fell asleep for a few hours. we had some snow showers and some holy fuck, that's a cold wind blow through today. i believe the low tonight is going to be around zero. that will be fun.

mom has started making plans for the phone/internet/Directv, etc at the new house. so, it looks like the plan is going to be for us to be moved in sometime around March 1st. i guess i should start packing and/or throwing shit away. the good news though, soon i will be completely done with Frontier Communications (god willing) forever. those fucks "forgot" to take the $25 off of the bill like they said they would. i just wish they would cross one of these crazy rednecks out here and see what happens. sadly, most of them don't have phones. at least none that they pay for.

i heard back from Michael at Carcinogenic Poetry on my submission from last month. he has decided to pass on the poems i sent.

Lucha Underground was excellent last night. the ending of the show was pretty damn good:

other than that last night, i watched some basketball and some hockey. that will be pretty much what i watch tonight as well.

the New York Rangers play at Colorado tonight. hopefully i will be enjoying a victory beer late tonight.

i almost forgot (that should tell you about their performance) that Manchester United beat Burnley yesterday 3-1. two more injuries and more uninspired play. i believe the next game is in the FA Cup on Monday.

i saw this today and laughed. and i really mean LAUGHED. laughed so damn hard i cried. enjoy:

i will be on here early tomorrow as i have a trip to the bank planned and a trip to Columbus to see the Blue Jackets play the Philadelphia Flyers. that should make for an interesting evening.

for those interested, the grocery store didn't produce any poems. i might have one brewing about this stunning black woman i saw, but it might end up being about her child. not sure yet.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone is warm. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
