while i should have been asleep...

i mailed out 9 poems this morning. as in morning, i mean having a creative outburst around 3 in the morning. i sent 4 to Hobo Camp Review and 5 to The Writing Disorder. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

the New York Yankees won last night over Toronto, 4-3. they hit 4 solo home runs, which set the new MLB record for consecutive games with a home run. hopefully, they will get the sweep this afternoon.

in Gold Cup action last night, Jamaica and Curacao finished 1-1 and Honduras knocked out El Salvador 4-0. tonight, Trinidad & Tobago take on Guyana and Panama and the USA will face each other to see who wins the group. the winner takes on Curacao in the start of the knockout rounds.

the Women's World Cup has reached the final 8. tomorrow, Norway takes on England. on Friday, France plays the USA. and on Saturday, Italy plays the Netherlands and Germany takes on Sweden.

Smackdown was pretty good last night, as was 205 Live.

Deadliest Catch was crazy last night.

Songland was very good last night.

Big Brother was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, True Justice: Bryan Stevenson's Fight For Equality, Big Brother and two episodes of The Wrestlers. i'll watch NXT and NXT UK sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i forgot how backwards the city i live in is on my drive to the post office this morning. nothing quite like seeing someone proudly putting up their confederate flag. the ignorance in this town makes no fucking sense to me.

i go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon. i'm sure i will be told i need to go back on the one medication or be given a new medication as my blood sugar numbers have completely gone to shit. i will probably be back on here after that tomorrow. joy.

the feels like temperature was already to 90 before noon today. so yeah, i'll most likely be indoors for most of the rest of the day.

until tomorrow kids...

happy pi day

i haven't been outside yet, but it doesn't look like we got much more snow overnight. i don't think we got an inch even. but, it does look windy as hell out there, so i'm guessing it feels much more like early January than mid March.

i did watch Cries from Syria last night. the first scene of the documentary will stay with me until the day i die. it was a very powerful documentary, overwhelming at times. i highly recommend checking it out if you get a chance.

i did like a few of the performances last night on The Voice.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Tampa Bay 3-2. the loss doesn't hurt that much as Tampa needed the points much more than the Rangers do. i like where the Rangers are right now in terms of playoff seeding. the first wildcard spot would put them against the other division in the playoffs. that's an easier path than trying to go through the toughest division in hockey.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i think it was the last time they are going to be at that building in Detroit, so they pulled out all the stops. HBK showed up, HHH beat the shit out of Seth Rollins, who was saving Mick Foley, etc. etc. you can definitely tell WrestleMania is coming up quickly.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, WWE Smackdown and The Voice. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight or tomorrow on WWE Network.

i'll be at the First Four games tonight at UD Arena. the first game will be Mount St. Mary's vs. New Orleans. the second game will be Wake Forest vs. Kansas State. hopefully, it will be two good games of basketball.

that's all for me kids. i have trash to pickup and plenty of things to do before i get ready to go to the games tonight.

oh, just remembered, i heard back from Hobo Camp Review on my query about the poems i sent last year. more or less, they were forgotten about and are no longer under consideration. that always makes me happy.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

where does the time go...

i just watched the first half of the Wayne Rooney testimonial going on today between Manchester United and Everton. it's hard to believe that Wayne has been at United for 12 seasons now. i can remember the hat trick when he showed up. it almost seems like yesterday. of course, a couple seasons of not winning much will have any fan waxing poetic about the past. i think they finally have the right manager and this season will be completely different. hopefully starting Sunday in the Community Shield.

i sent out 10 poems today; 4 to Hobo Camp Review and 6 to Rose Red Review. when i hear back from these places, i'll pass along the verdicts.

the season finale of Deadliest Catch was amazing last night. to see just how bad Sig's heart attack was, you really realize just how lucky he is to be alive. plus, the talk between Wild Bill and his son hit really close to home. i think Bill said the words i always wanted to hear from my father; i'm sorry. i never did get to hear that. and now, i never will. hard to believe this was the 12th season of the show. i really think it's one of the best reality shows EVER.

Smackdown was pretty good last night. i believe everyone could see Brock Lesnar showing up and getting back at Randy Orton. it was so good to see American Alpha finally debut. they are one of the best tag teams in the world. push them to the moon. and i really enjoyed seeing a more intense Dolph Ziggler. and the flow of the show was much better than Raw. it certainly helps that Smackdown is only 2 hours long.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Tyrant and Any Given Wednesday. i'll be watching NXT and CWC on WWE Network sometime tonight.

the New York Yankees lost last night 7-1. they called up prospect Gary Sanchez for tonight's game. i was hoping they were going to release A-Rod to make room for him. instead they sent Ben Gamel back down to AAA. why the fuck is A-Rod still on the team if he isn't going to play. other than the Yankees just don't want to give him the money and release him, i can't think of any other fucking reason. just bite the damn bullet, release A-Rod and Tex and move the fuck on.

i think i might watch some of the women's soccer tonight going on at the Olympics in Rio. looking at some of the pictures from where the athletes are staying, i certainly understand why both USA basketball teams are staying on the cruise ship. talk about a clusterfuck.

that's all for me today kids. it's another draining day in August. the dog days are upon us.

crazy how my world works

so yesterday in a span of 7 minutes, i had 7 poems rejected. today, i got 6 poems published. in the middle of all that, the fucking printer stopped working. better yet, it wouldn't communicate with the computer at all. welcome to the life of a poet.

apparently i got my poems into Chiron Review a little too late, as they are now full. they will open for submissions again on November 1st. i heard back from James at Hobo Camp Review on my latest submission. they decided to pass on the 4 i sent. thankfully, today i was able to combine those 7 poems with 5 others to get my next round of submissions ready to go out. that will most likely be on Wednesday.

mom was in a shitty mood last night, so that certainly made for an interesting house. and people wonder where i get my passive aggressive shit from. thankfully, i just went into my room and started watching the Sunday night shows.

i did see a text my sister sent to my mother with a picture of what was hanging on her door. apparently the creditors of my dead father's dead wife are now seeking to get in contact with my sister. i laughed. i knew why they wanted us to go see him in his final days. it wasn't a dying wish, it was a ruse to get us to pay their fucking bills. so happy i didn't fall for that shit.

the New York Yankees faced a knuckleball pitcher last night. that explains why they only had 3 hits. the only run came with 2 outs in the 9th. thank god i didn't waste any time on that game. a 5-1 loss to Boston. sadly, usually when you face a knuckleball pitcher, your hitting goes to shit for the next couple days. considering how the Yankees have been this season, it won't be much of a difference. they start a series at home with Kansas City tonight.

House of Lies was really funny last night. it reminded me of why i have never taken a cruise. Silicon Valley was great. Veep was fucking hilarious. Penny Dreadful was spooky as fuck once again. i was absolutely correct on who Dracula was going to end up being. i think i audibly shouted I KNEW IT around 2 in the morning when i watched the show. Last Week Tonight was excellent once again.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw.

i guess we're in yet another rainy cycle. it's supposed to rain on and off for the next 4 days. great.

i hope everyone had a great Sunday. hopefully all you mothers had a lovely day.

i think i'm going to go take a shower and then have some cold pizza for dinner. good times.

so which team screws up the draft the most tonight

sure, i used that title just hoping to get hits. i only care what the New Orleans Saints do in the NFL Draft. and i hope the Ohio State players go to good teams, not in the Saints division.

for National Poetry Month, i give you:

i heard back from Off The Coast on my poetry submission from February. they decided to pass on the 3 i sent. not exactly how i wanted to start off my day. oh well. i sent out 10 poems today; 4 to Hobo Camp Review and 3 each to Dead Snakes and Chiron Review. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

Lucha Underground was really good last night. 2 matches that certainly had enough entertainment to make a great hour of wrestling. NXT was a little different. i was expecting them to show more of the match where Samoa Joe won the NXT title, but oh well. at least they did end the show with Nakamura.

i did enjoy the Table for 3 after NXT with 3 members of the Four Horsemen. that certainly took me back to my youth.

the New York Yankees lost last night 3-2. at least A-Rod looks to be coming out of his slump. thankfully, they are off tonight. they start a series tomorrow in Boston. i almost care.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Big Bang Theory, WWE Smackdown and Lip Sync Battle. i will probably be watching the NFL Draft for most of the night.

i got a great live album for FREE today on NoiseTrade from John Prine. i will post the link in the music section.

that's all for me kids. i've got to take a shower, as tomorrow will be a public Friday for me. i have to take mom to physical therapy in the morning and then she wants to go eat lunch. and then after that, she scheduled the car to go in to get the oil changed. supposedly, while that is being done, we're going to look at new vehicles. i'll believe it when i see it.

so i should be on here tomorrow late afternoon/early evening.

enjoy your draft night. may your favorite team get someone you actually know of.

senseless...

i didn't sleep well at all last night. when i finally decided to get out of bed and go to the computer, i was totally fucking shocked to read the first thing i saw. when you see a guy you rooted for in college and the NFL is fucking dead at 34 because of road rage, it's fucking numbing to say the least. now as the story has grown, maybe it wasn't road rage after all. that makes it even more senseless. talk about a life cut way too fucking short. i feel for his kids and hopefully his wife wasn't shot too bad in the leg.

for National Poetry Month, i give you:

i heard back from Hobo Camp Review on the poems i sent back in February. they have decided to pass.

ROH was excellent last night. i could watch Dalton Castle wrestle for years and never get bored.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night. i did really appreciate at how dirty Russell Crowe was. i'll never think of duck vagina the same way.

congrats to North Dakota on winning the NCAA championship last night in college hockey. hard to believe it's been 16 years.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vinyl, Girls, the series finale of Togetherness, Last Week Tonight, House of Lies, Dice and the season finale of Billions.

the New York Yankees game tonight has been postponed due to the weather. who knew a night game in Detroit in early April might not be a good idea. they are off until Tuesday now. they will be in Toronto.

when i heard that Manchester United was stuck in traffic and the start of the game against Tottenham was being pushed back 30 minutes, i sort of chuckled. that sums up this season perfectly. i thought United played pretty well in the first half against a clearly better team. then for some fucking reason, LVG decided to take off a striker and replace him with Ashley Young, who would be playing out of position. genius move. sadly, United's best defender, who happens to be just 18 (that sums up everything wrong about this team) got injured and had to be subbed out of the game. less than 6 minutes later, Tottenham was up 3-0. this was a game i would have been happy with a draw. instead, it will be a week of when does old fuck face get sacked and who is replacing him. great. i think they have their FA Cup replay sometime this week. it's unlikely they will win at West Ham. if that turns out to be true, the stink of this season will only get worse.

so as you might imagine, this has been a shit day for me.

i hope your Sunday has been better than your Saturday. mine certainly hasn't.

i have a new rule to live by

so when i woke up this morning, i got on the computer and got to work. for some fucking reason, my printer wasn't working. i tried every little trick i knew and none of them worked. i then had to remove the printer from the computer and more or less reinstall it. that eventually worked, but only after i took some time away from it. i got a little breakfast, took a shit and now i have a new rule to live by.

never make any decisions in the morning before you take a shit.

good words to live by. once i got the printer figured out, it was time to start sending out some poems. i sent out 23 poems today; 3 each to Dead Snakes, Napalm and Novocain and Off The Coast; 4 poems to Hobo Camp Review and 5 poems each to Shot Glass Journal and The Literary Hatchet. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

to send to 3 of the places, i had to get a Submittable account. that went much better than i expected. so, a little pat on my back for defeating technology again today.

The Big Bang Theory was very good last night. the surprise they were mentioning in the ads for the show certainly was a surprise. i enjoyed the subtle way it came out as well. Life in Pieces was hilarious. Baskets was fucking bizarre and brilliant once again. and Lip Sync Battle was good. not great, but i can't complain with who was on the show.

WWE Smackdown was really good last night. i could watch Chris Jericho wrestle AJ Styles for the next few years and never get bored. hopefully they wrestle again on the next ppv.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

tonight is a bit of a clusterfuck on television. on the DVR will be NJPW, Treehouse Masters and VICE.

the Dayton Flyers are at Rhode Island tonight. they have lost their last 6 games there, so i'm hoping the boys have a win in them tonight.

at the same time, the New York Rangers are at home against the Los Angeles Kings. i really hope the Rangers can keep their winning streak going tonight as well.

if both teams win tonight, i will be a very happy boy. if both lose, i won't get much sleep, which will suck because Manchester United plays at the crack of fucking dawn tomorrow. so i'm really hoping for some wins so i can drink myself to sleep tonight.

for those of you in relationships, i truly hope you enjoy this coming weekend. for we single people, raise a glass of something strong and be happy you've never been arrested for buying it. for any depressed people that wish they were in a relationship this weekend, raise two glasses and remember there is always tomorrow and hopefully she brings along a friend.

i don't think i have been with anyone for Valentine's Day in over 20 years. to me the day is more about driving to a pharmacy with The Black Crowes song "She Talks To Angels" playing as i'm going to get some pills for my stepfather after he had another seizure. this would be 12 days before he died. hard to believe that's been 14 years ago now.

so, yeah. Cupid has done a shitty job with me. maybe one day i get to actually enjoy it and be the romantic fucker i always wanted to be. lord knows i can write the words down.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow afternoon, hopefully enjoying some victories or still slightly drunk from those victories.

humoring the humans

i went out shopping with my mother this morning. it turned into a 4 store marathon that took up most of the day. it would have been a great day if my ankle wouldn't have given out on me in the grocery store. of course, there was rain in the area at the time, so i'm figuring that was the culprit. but, before that happened, i did get an insanely beautiful woman to smile at me, so there's a few poems right there.

speaking of poems, i heard back from Hobo Camp Review on my submission from yesterday. one poem came really close but they decided to pass on the bunch. oh well.

the New York Yankees exploded last night, beating the Braves 15-4. hopefully they didn't use up all the offense in one game. they need to get on a run here on this road trip. they play again tonight.

NJPW and Treehouse Masters were both excellent last night. the house they built was magnificent. if i had $200,000 to piss away on a treehouse, that would be the one i would get.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i signed up for 3 fantasy football leagues last night. 1 on NFL.com and 2 on CBSSports.com. as always, my goal is to win 3 championships. but, i will love if i can have another year of at least winning one.

my sister is going to shit with what my mother and i got her for her birthday this year.

on the DVR tonight will be ROH. other than that, i'll probably catch up on all of the soccer i missed today. i did see two teams that i detest both lost today, so that brightens my day a bit.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow in the morning, before Manchester United plays. since both they and the Yankees are playing in the day, i figure i'll get my lazy ass busy early. i damn near got 7 hours of sleep last night. that's almost like 2 days worth for me. so i imagine i'll be up late tonight. maybe i'll get some writing done.

i hope everyone is having a great Saturday. may the drinks be cold, the sex hot but not disease type hot, hopefully the music is loud and you have no care for tomorrow. as i explained to my mother today, when you are on the back side of the circle, what the fuck do you have to lose?

slogging through the pain

i've been achy all day long. but, there's shit to do, so, as usual, just ignore the fucking pain and move on. i'm sure one day this will catch up with me. but, luckily for me, i'm not interested in living forever.

i sent out 15 poems today. 5 to Horror Sleaze Trash, 4 to Hobo Camp Review and 3 each to Yellow Mama and Dead Snakes. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdict.

first up for Flashback Friday is my poem "beautiful devastation" from back in 2012. well, it was published then, but i'm pretty sure i wrote it back in 2010. you can find that poem by going here: http://www.zygoteinmycoffee.com/100s/issue137beautifuldevastat.html

next up is my poem "longwinded". this is from back in 2005. this poem has Janne Karlsson animation written all over it. you can find the poem by going here:
http://www.myfavoritebullet.com/Campbell_longwinded.html

and while we're on poetry, here's one from one of my favorites:

Big Brother went as i expected last night. John got evicted and then walked right back into the house. sadly though, Vanessa is the new HOH. but, there's another double eviction coming up so this could be their chance to finally get her out.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll was excellent last night. so was Married.

tonight on the DVR will be NJPW and Treehouse Masters. i will be watching the New York Yankees play down in Atlanta, at least until they start playing like shit and i find something else to watch.

and now some music:

and now some other random shit:

that's all for me today. i really hope everyone enjoys their weekends. call if you need bail money or help burying the bodies.

the mid week blues

it was cool enough here last night that i was able to sleep with the windows open. i would do that more often if the smell of shit didn't always somehow end up sneaking in. life in the sticks.

i thought this tribute to Robin Williams was the best one yet:

Tyrant was pretty damn good last night. always love a good coup episode.

Hard Knocks was good as well last night. more fake toughness from the Falcons.

tonight will be a big night of television. start off with Big Brother. then, the series finale of Wilfred. that's certainly one show i will miss. after that, one of my favorite shows, The Bridge.

on top of all that, the Yankees play tonight. this is a must win game. Pineda is pitching for the first time since April. hopefully he is ready for a big stretch run. if not, this team has literally no chance to make the playoffs.

the dream woman seems to be ignoring me ever since i couldn't help her with some money issues. gee, i wonder what i'm thinking...

i sent out 21 poems this morning... 3 each to Dead Snakes and The Camel Saloon, 4 to Hobo Camp Review, 5 to Horror Sleaze and Trash, and 6 to The Kitchen Poet. when i hear back from these places i'll pass along the verdicts.

i'd love to take one long nap today, but i don't think that's possible. i suppose i should just take a shower and see if that wakes me up.

i did catch part 1 of The Jim Norton Show with Rich Vos, Sherrod Small, and Dave Attell today on vice.com. can't wait for part 2 tomorrow.

that's all for today kids. i'll be around here sometime tomorrow.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, love, hate mail, etc. be safe while you're stealing gasoline from other vehicles.
