last night was one of those nights that i wonder if i have only because i am a poet. spending hours in the dark, contemplating suicide, in tears, wondering why i'm wasting my time. then, writing three brilliant poems and having a laugh. of course, the music program i recorded last night didn't have sound on it, so not everything turned to a bucket of gold.
i did write 3 poems last night. they are pretty dark but i do love them. i did a little poetry work earlier in the day. i do believe i know where my next 38 poems will be going. that will probably happen early tomorrow or Tuesday.
the New York Yankees lost yet again yesterday, 4-1. Chance Adams had a decent first major league start, but the offense showed no signs of life until the 9th inning. this is the first time all season the Yankees have lost 4 games in a row. they will have to win tonight to avoid the sweep.
so i got an email from my mother last night, something about 32 things you find in every grandmother's home or something like that. it kind of set me off as i was molested in my grandmother's home. so, you might imagine what the first poem i wrote last night is about. i suppose last night is truly the sign that the counseling never worked. that i'm still haunted by what happened to me 38 years ago. but, i didn't do any drugs last night. and i didn't drink. god knows, i probably should have done both.
i was really looking forward to that Paul Thorn special on PBS last night. the picture was fine but the sound was all garbled and awful. it sounded like nothing but static. i fast forwarded a few minutes and it was still the same. fuck it, i just deleted it.
ROH was really good last night.
i think i might have got 4 hours of sleep at best.

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Power, Sharp Objects, the season finale of Succession, Last Week Tonight, The Affair, Who is America? and Our Cartoon President.
Manchester United plays their final preseason game this afternoon against Bayern Munich in Germany. at this point, all i'm hoping for is no more fucking injuries. United starts the Premier League season on Friday.
i believe the rain is supposed to be back by tomorrow. hopefully, i'll have all the poems out before that fucking misery begins.
i hope everyone on this planet had a better Saturday than i did. and i do hope your Sunday is even better.

i think i got to sleep around 2 in the morning last night. i had a phantom pain wake me up at 7. on a fucking Saturday morning. i wanted to fall back asleep, but it seems anymore my brain never shuts off. apparently, my drug use as a teen didn't kill off enough brain cells. fuck.
the New York Yankees won last night in Baltimore 4-1. they are now just 1/2 game behind Boston in the division. they play again this afternoon, weather permitting. the last thing the Yankees need are more games rained out.
VICE was really good last night.
NJPW was excellent last night.
Major League Wrestling was good last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was very good last night.
Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas was very good last night as well.
enjoy some music:

the USA men's national team plays a soccer friendly today at Ireland. this should be a bigger test for them than Bolivia was.
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight in Washington. i will probably watch a good portion of that.
i should probably do my laundry today as well.
i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. it's not that i have plans, i'm just hoping to get some fucking good sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours.
i hope everyone has a good Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

i couldn't fall asleep for shit last night. i tried music. i tried masturbation. i tried the old YouTube rabbit hole trick. i tried reading. nothing worked. at 4 in the morning, exhaustion decided to call the fight. i was back awake before 8 AM. i think i managed to really sleep from 8 to 9:15. this is a recipe to die in your 50's, i'm convinced of that. 6 more days before i go back to drinking. and that's regardless of what my fucking doctor says.
here is your poetry for this day of National Poetry Month:
The Voice was pretty good last night. there was a couple surprises for the final 12, but nothing that actually shocked me.
NXT was excellent last night.
i did watch some of the playoffs last night; basketball and hockey.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Gotham and Atlanta.
the New York Yankees start a series with Toronto tonight at home. it would be nice to see them go on a winning streak soon.
i'll probably watch some playoff hockey and basketball during the commercial breaks tonight.
i got the photo i ordered in one of the Kickstarter projects i supported today. now i just need to get a frame for the picture of Nosferatu. it's pretty fucking creepy.
i did do a little thinking on my poetry last night. i've got a couple publishers in mind to maybe do either a chapbook or another full length book. now it's just about getting my ass in gear and get everything in order to send. i'm stalling, hoping the weather will get better. that usually helps my arthritis.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store. i believe mom has a scroll ready for that. joy.

when the New York Yankees were down 4-0 yesterday, i was not happy. Sonny Gray pitched well enough but once again, his team couldn't score him any runs. thankfully, Aaron Judge, at this point, the second coming of Babe Ruth, hit a titanic homer to center that, as his manager said after the game, provided the spark. the Yankees closed the lead to 4-2 going into the 8th inning. that's where the Yankees exploded for 4 more runs to eventually win the game, 6-4. that ties the series at 2 games each. the all important Game 5 is this afternoon. Houston will be starting the Yankees nemesis, so if the Yankees somehow win today, i really feel like they will find a way to win the series back in Houston.
the New York Rangers fell behind early last night (shocker) but eventually had a lead late in the game last night against the Penguins. thanks to a stupid play from Kevin Shattenkirk, the Penguins and that crybaby Cindy Crosby tied the game at 4. in OT, i guess all those years of playing with shitty defensemen are finally paying off for Ryan McDonagh,. he gave away the puck in OT right in front of The King's net. Rangers lost 5-4 in OT. that was a good way for me to come back down to earth after the Yankees win. fuck me runnin'.
Smackdown was pretty good last night. give me Kevin Owens and a heel Sami Zayn forever please.
205 Live was pretty good as well last night.
American Horror Story was pretty interesting last night.
The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking great last night.
The Voice was very good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Lucha Underground, You're the Worst and Total Bellas. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.
Manchester United plays this afternoon against Benfica in the Champions League. i think i have to find the game on Facebook somewhere. hopefully they get a win.
rest in peace Gord Downie. your shift is over.
i got the results from my x-rays back. no fractures or anything like that. just more fucking arthritis. joy.
i have to get up early tomorrow to take mom to get another injection in her back. i'm hoping that will help her even more than it did the first time around before she had her hip replacement.
the only thing i don't like about the long ass WWE pay per views on Sunday nights is all the other shit i'm missing while it's on. so after sitting there and watching about 6 hours of wrestling, i then had 7 hours of shows that i was recording during wrestling to watch. fuck me runnin'. i wouldn't mind it if the wrestling blew me away. sadly, 2 of the matches were really fucking amazing. the rest of the show was nothing better than something they show on Monday or Tuesday. that being said, the fatal 4 way main event last night at WWE SummerSlam between Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns was fucking crazy good. it was so good that you could easily have a really positive feel about the whole show after it. the other match that was great was The New Day vs. The Usos. it's obvious that both of these teams have great chemistry. the shitty part is the match was on the damn pre-show. all in all, i get the feeling that tonight on Monday Night Raw they will use their "second chance" to get it right, like they normally do.
the New York Yankees could only manage 3 damn hits yesterday as they lost to Boston 5-1. they are off tonight and start a series tomorrow in Detroit.
shockingly, the New Orleans Saints won a damn preseason game last night against the Chargers, 13-7. i only saw some of the highlights from the game. if they actually have a defense this year, they will be scary.
Big Brother was pretty funny last night. i see Christmas is going along with Paul's plan. i wish they would just give him the damn money already.
Power was fucking great last night. that ending almost had me in tears. next week should be crazy.
Ballers was really good last night.
Insecure was excellent last night.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always.
The Strain was great last night.
Episodes was pretty damn funny last night. hopefully they have a great final season.
Ray Donovan was really good last night. looks like there might be more sex in this season.
Twin Peaks was another tasty mind fuck last night.

i did see Wayne Rooney score his 200th Premier League goal today for Everton. i got a good laugh that it was at Manchester City.
that's all for me today kids. i have checks to write and shit to get together to make a deposit at the bank tomorrow. i'll be on here after that trip into the unknown.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. my only suggestion if you didn't is to get better friends, real or imaginary.

first off, Happy Father's Day to all the good fathers out there. i never knew what that was like, so enjoy it you lucky fuckers.
we've had some storms overnight, so my arthritis has been fucking with me. so, during that pain this morning, i happened to notice that my desk in my room looked different. i knew the cleaning ladies were here yesterday, so that didn't seem too unusual. that was until i noticed one of my Batman items was missing. i had the night light that i hardly ever use sitting out on the corner and it was gone. i searched all over the room, thinking maybe it got knocked over or fell off or something. no such luck. so, i can only assume one of the cleaning ladies stole the damn thing. i can't imagine this weekend being any better for me. theft, my sister burning food and using every fucking dish in the house, thoughts of my father and our shitty relationship, my mother trying her best to get better while dealing with getting older, and here i am, in fucking pain every other second i take a breath. yet another day i will apologize to the 8 year old me. as usual, you were absolutely correct. a ladder, a rope and the tree in the backyard... the only freedom i was ever going to know.
the New York Yankees lost yet again yesterday to Oakland, 5-2. that's 5 damn losses in a row. they will try to avoid the sweep this afternoon.
the T.J. Miller comedy special on HBO last night, Meticulously Ridiculous, was fucking as absurd as i thought it was going to be. some parts had me scratching my head and other parts had me laughing my ass off.
ROH was excellent last night.

i have watched most of the Confederations Cup today. the match between Mexico and Portugal was very good. Chile vs. Cameroon is on right now.
i wrote 5 poems last night. given the mood this blog post has been in, you can imagine what the poems were like. i really liked a few of them. i need to write a few more before i think of my next round of submissions.

i just watched the first half of the Wayne Rooney testimonial going on today between Manchester United and Everton. it's hard to believe that Wayne has been at United for 12 seasons now. i can remember the hat trick when he showed up. it almost seems like yesterday. of course, a couple seasons of not winning much will have any fan waxing poetic about the past. i think they finally have the right manager and this season will be completely different. hopefully starting Sunday in the Community Shield.
i sent out 10 poems today; 4 to Hobo Camp Review and 6 to Rose Red Review. when i hear back from these places, i'll pass along the verdicts.
the season finale of Deadliest Catch was amazing last night. to see just how bad Sig's heart attack was, you really realize just how lucky he is to be alive. plus, the talk between Wild Bill and his son hit really close to home. i think Bill said the words i always wanted to hear from my father; i'm sorry. i never did get to hear that. and now, i never will. hard to believe this was the 12th season of the show. i really think it's one of the best reality shows EVER.
Smackdown was pretty good last night. i believe everyone could see Brock Lesnar showing up and getting back at Randy Orton. it was so good to see American Alpha finally debut. they are one of the best tag teams in the world. push them to the moon. and i really enjoyed seeing a more intense Dolph Ziggler. and the flow of the show was much better than Raw. it certainly helps that Smackdown is only 2 hours long.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Tyrant and Any Given Wednesday. i'll be watching NXT and CWC on WWE Network sometime tonight.
the New York Yankees lost last night 7-1. they called up prospect Gary Sanchez for tonight's game. i was hoping they were going to release A-Rod to make room for him. instead they sent Ben Gamel back down to AAA. why the fuck is A-Rod still on the team if he isn't going to play. other than the Yankees just don't want to give him the money and release him, i can't think of any other fucking reason. just bite the damn bullet, release A-Rod and Tex and move the fuck on.
i think i might watch some of the women's soccer tonight going on at the Olympics in Rio. looking at some of the pictures from where the athletes are staying, i certainly understand why both USA basketball teams are staying on the cruise ship. talk about a clusterfuck.
that's all for me today kids. it's another draining day in August. the dog days are upon us.

i woke up this morning after some horrific dreams of my death or life or whatever the fuck it was, and my back was absolutely killing me. like an entire zoo of animals was on it. i asked my mother if a cold front moved through overnight and she said it was raining currently. i suppose if i'm ever going to escape the rain i have to move to a desert. not the greatest choice for a guy with sensitive skin. figures.
i did enjoy WWE Smackdown last night. i think having Mauro Ranallo do play by play will help the show by leaps and bounds. it won't be long until fans will want him to do Monday Night Raw as well. also, honestly, i could watch Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose fight for years and never get bored. 2 wrestlers that understand the little details of ring psychology and why it fucking matters.
The Big Bang Theory was hilarious last night. so was Life in Pieces. and i'm sure by now, if you are even slightly aware of pop culture, you know all about what happened on Lip Sync Battle last night.
and those two videos aren't even the best parts of the show. if you really want to laugh your ass off, i highly recommend the episode.
the grocery store was exhausting yesterday. not only because we had to get shit for next door, but mom was in shopping mode and i am rarely, if ever, in a mood for that. amazingly, we did manage to keep everything under $150.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Undateable. i have truly missed that show.
so imagine my surprise when mom was away at her doctor's appointment this morning and the doorbell rings and i'm sitting at the computer in just my shorts. i threw on a shirt and went to the door to find a large package. i put on some shoes and brought it in. thankfully, we have just enough cover near our front door that it didn't get wet. when mom got back she told me to open it. trust me, tape, scissors and arthritis are a deadly combination at times. i finally got the package open and it was this music player that is made to look like an old time record player. it plays vinyl, cassettes, cd's, Bluetooth, the radio and even has a cd burner on it. it sounds pretty good. i amazed myself this afternoon as i figured out the Bluetooth part of it. that should come in handy as i have probably over a couple thousand songs on my computer. so, i figure that is my birthday gift from her. it will definitely get used, probably this weekend.
tomorrow is going to be a giant clusterfuck for me. roughly on around the same time will be Manchester United in FA Cup play, the New York Rangers take on Washington and the Dayton Flyers play at La Salle. so, my blog for tomorrow is going to come after all that is over.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. it sounds like it is going to be fucking miserable here; ice, rain, wind, maybe snow, so i'm really hoping my sports teams win and i can drink it all away.
yes, i know i am on the road to nowhere. but i'm bound to leave behind a few things for you to remember me by.
i hope this finds you with a pulse.

if you read that title and think the worst... you're off by a few years. if you read that title and got settled in your chair and was ready for some uncomfortable storytelling, you know me very well. and if you read that title and are reading this blog for the first time.. BUY A FUCKING BOOK.
i got up this morning and took a solid shit. i had 5 or so hours of disjointed sleep, but felt pretty good. i figured i would get outside and start getting some shit done before it got too hot. about 3 steps into going down to get the paper, my stomach asks me where the fuck did i think i was going? like the stubborn fucker i am, i kept walking. walking up the driveway with the paper, i could feel my stomach churning and some shit start to poke out. fuck me. i got to the toilet with about 3 seconds to spare. one mess avoided. so, after some Imodium, i go out and start feeding the birds. i put out a new solar light we got yesterday and then i wanted to test out the new hose we got. i turned on the water for the outside and the garage. imagine my surprise when some fucker left the water spigot in the garage completely open. imagine my surprise when my mother had an open cardboard box underneath that spigot. now, if i grew up in a nurturing, loving household, this would be something to laugh about and say oh well to. i didn't grow up in that house. in my dysfunctional mind, i'm 9 years old and helping my father try to fix a lawnmower and i spill some oil and it's the end of the fucking world, AGAIN. anytime i have ever tried to do something good it blows up in my fucking face. i pull weeds for my mother when i was 18 so i could go to Woodstock. what happens? i get covered in poison ivy from head to toe and have to watch the concert from home in the basement. i eventually got what could be saved dried off and the rest thrown away. by the way, the hose works.
i had a blueberry muffin and coffee for breakfast. 30 seconds after being done with that, back to the toilet. these are the days i'm convinced i will kill myself before i get to 50 years old. and no matter how many times my mother tells me it's ok, don't worry about it, shit happens, etc., the more i beat myself up about it. i know i am not perfect. yet, i still expect myself to be perfect. i never have been able to stomach mistakes. such a beautiful trait handed down to me from my father. 4th grade. i walk home, proud, prepared to show my father my spelling test that i got the highest score in the class on. i get home, find him sitting at the table in his underwear eating a bowl of cereal. i show him the test. i got a 97 on it. he asks me where the other three points are. i tell him i missed one word. he asks me why. i had no answer for him, i just missed it. he then looks me in the eyes and tells me that a 97 isn't good enough. that tells me anything less than perfection and my father wouldn't love me. well, didn't that come fucking true. yet, here i am, still wanting to be perfect hoping one day that dead fucker will love me. and people wonder why i refuse to have children.
needless to say, if i ever get done beating myself up today, i might actually plant those wildflowers or enjoy some television. if not, get ready for some poems of despair.
a quick music break to clean the pallet:
the trip to the grocery store yesterday turned into a trip to 2 different stores. and wouldn't you know it, some of the shit that we got doesn't fit, so we get to take it back today. fucking joy. i think i intimidated the bag boy at the grocery store so damn bad that the dumb fuck forgot to put the saucepan mom paid for in our cart. that was a fun, frantic search once we got home. the chair we got from the other store doesn't fit the space in the kitchen. mom has decided she's going to move her office to the kitchen. yesterday was a bit frustrating. we got back home just in time for me to see Barcelona score the first goal. we left nearly 3 hours before the game was to start.
Barcelona beat Juventus 3-1 yesterday to win the Champions League. the game went pretty much how i thought it would go. Juventus did a good job containing Messi, but, unless you have 16 or so players, you can't stop Neymar and Suarez at the same time as Messi.
after that was over, i squeezed in the new episode of ROH. it was outstanding, if this is the episode they show on this upcoming Wednesday, i'll gladly watch it again.
then, it was time to watch some history. i've been waiting since my childhood for a horse to win the Triple Crown. my grandmother got me into horse racing. we used to watch every race together when i was a child. so when American Pharoah came around the final turn, i thought of her. and when the horse won, i started to cry. 37 fucking years later, and there is finally another Triple Crown winner. American Pharoah was in the lead the entire race. what a great horse.
since the Yankees were blacked out in my area, i sort of flipped between the hockey game, some home improvement shows and the internet last night.
the Yankees won 8-2. they go for a sweep of the Angels this afternoon. hopefully they can keep the ball rolling.
i did watch some of the UFC last night. i really wanted to see if Dan Henderson has anything left. i guess he isn't finished yet:
i'm looking forward to the Sunday night shows tonight. of course, i'll have all of them on the DVR tonight just in case: Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep and Last Week Tonight. i'll probably watch some of the NBA Finals tonight as well. the last 5 minutes if it happens to be close.
that's all for me today. go read the 4 poems i've had published in the last 48 hours and if you like them, tell the world that you do. i'll be on here sometime tomorrow, mental and weather permitting.

well, i finally started to pack things up today. mostly just some knickknacks and baseball cards. so, it was sort of like boxing up my youth. i still have all my music and books to get to. i think i'll have to take what i have already boxed over to the new house first and just bring those empty boxes back to the farm. this would be totally easier if it wasn't the fucking winter or if i had a vehicle that was actually reliable. but, this is my life, so nothing happens the easy way.
we're under yet another fucking winter storm warning. we could have 5-8 inches of snow by tomorrow night, or, we could have a shit load of ice. neither sounds good to me.
i did see 17 cats today. i should have known that was a sign that some shit was coming.
The Big Bang Theory was very good last night. i truly love how they can go from funny to totally serious in a second. that's how life is most days.
the New York Rangers blew 3 leads last night and lost 5-4 to Vancouver in a shootout. at least they got a point out of the game. they play tonight in Buffalo. this is a game they have to win. the rookie goalie is making his debut tonight. hopefully he does what he did when he had his debut in the AHL (shutout). i'd really like to be drinking a victory beer tonight.
the Dayton Flyers did not play last night. the bench only got 3 points. thankfully, the starters just don't seem to ever run out of gas. Dayton got their 20th win of the season by beating St. Joe's 68-64. congrats to Dyshawn Pierre on getting his 1,000th point of his career. this kid is only going to get better. here are the highlights from last night's win:
other than hockey tonight, i'll probably squeeze in some NJPW and Treehouse Masters.
i will probably be on here tomorrow before the Manchester United game. since Dayton plays in the early afternoon, i suppose i should get my ass up and get some shit done in the morning.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. hopefully your weather is much better than mine. do something crazy this weekend and tell the world about it. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i knew i had a ton of shit to do today, so it figures i wouldn't get hardly any good sleep last night at all. mom couldn't get comfortable in her bed, so she decided to sleep on the couch out by where i've been sleeping. she was sawing down a forest of trees after about 20 minutes. i was trying to watch television. that was fun. i went upstairs, hoping i would fall asleep. 2 hours later, and i was still awake. i came back downstairs to my chair and just said fuck it. it probably took me a good 45 minutes before my body gave up and fell asleep. i got up at 8 this morning, tired as hell. i got the trash picked up and after breakfast, i tried taking it down to the end of the lane. of course, 3 seconds after starting my truck and dropping it in reverse, it shuts off. vapor lock. 20 minutes later, i was taking the trash down. this is surely a sign that today isn't going to go how i want it to. Manchester United made sure of it for me.
thankfully, Daley Blind came to the rescue to get a 1-1 draw between Manchester United and West Ham. honestly, the boys missed a few point blank chances and didn't deserve shit today. they pissed away a great chance to get just 3 points behind second place. oh well. hopefully they play better against Burnley. if they don't, they can fucking kiss the Champions League goodbye.
quickly back to last night, ROH was great once again. Foo Fighters on Austin City Limits was great as well.
here is the rest of my clusterfuck today. team USA plays a soccer friendly against Panama here in a little bit. 1 hour later, the New York Rangers play the Dallas Stars. i'm hoping to be enjoying a few victory beers while watching the Grammy Awards. whenever that is over, i have to figure out how i'm going to watch what i missed on Showtime, HBO, etc. without staying up to 6 in the morning to do it. i really want to see The Jinx tonight on HBO, but i have no clue if i'm going to catch it tonight. that might be a Monday night one for me. i do think i have figured out how to watch Episodes, House of Lies, Shameless, Girls, Togetherness, Last Week Tonight, and Total Divas as long as the Grammy Awards end on time (they never do). needless to say, i'll be playing catch up for most of the early part of this week.
i guess that's what i get for loving music. hopefully, and i just typed hopefully as hard as i fucking could, i will have a DVR next year at this time and this fucking problem never arises again.
the weather here is unseasonably mild. the rain is supposed to start here soon. it is supposedly going to end tomorrow morning as snow. these fuckers haven't been right once yet this winter, so i'll believe it when i see it. but, it was nice to feed the cats today in shorts.
that's all for me today. hopefully you are having a great Sunday. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i felt like i did the right thing yesterday by waiting to leave for the hockey game. and for the first 5 minutes of the drive, i was right. and then it started to rain. and rain, and rain some more. it rained all the way to my sister's condo. and then it rained all the way to the arena. thankfully, my sister knows her way around Columbus. we avoided most of the traffic and got to the arena in plenty of time for the game. more on the game in a bit.
it rained for about 1/3 of the drive home last night. and it has rained on and off all day long here. to say i'm a bit gloomy and in pain would be an understatement. though, i did achieve a bit of joy by shooting my load into the middle of my chest earlier today. enjoy that visual as you read the rest of this.
the Blue Jackets lost to Dallas 4-2. i had a pretty good time, mostly because the 2 goals Columbus scored were by the guy on my fantasy team. though, my mood went to shit in the third period as i noticed the scoreboard and what was happening in the Rangers game. more on that in a moment. the next game we go to is on Friday. they are playing Calgary. i'll have fantasy interests on both of the teams that night. i did get to feel like i knew what i was talking about when i was telling my sister about the best players on Dallas. they scored all 4 of the goals.
the Rangers lost to the Islanders 6-3. thank fucking god i didn't watch that shit. Rick Nash scored 2 more goals, so that's really helping my fantasy team. but my goalie is fucking killing me. i know he starts off every season a bit slow... but giving up 6 goals in back to back games is a bit much. of course, after reading the game reports, his defense is doing him no favors. they play again on Thursday. maybe they will get a fucking win.
i watched a bit of The Voice on YouTube today. once again, none of the battles really blew me away. hopefully the good shit comes next week.
we ate at Waffle House last night around midnight. i felt sorry for the black woman working there. the town we live in has hardly any minorities. and the two white cooks weren't saying a fucking word to her. not even boring work chit chat. if i wasn't so fucking hungry i would have whipped out the charm... but the weather is doing me no favors.
i'll be watching a little hockey tonight, maybe some baseball, and eventually American Horror Story. that will get over in time for me to flip over to Foo Fighters week on Letterman.
i got most of the guys i wanted in fantasy football. now, i will have to come up with a plan to beat two opponents that are way better than me. hell, one is still undefeated. i have a feeling i'm going to come up short this week. hopefully my picks are good. i'm on a bit of a hot streak with those.
i'd like to go through my file of unpublished poems tomorrow and figure out what i'm going to send where. i'm hoping to send out some more submissions next week sometime.
that's all for me today. hope the weather is better wherever the fuck you may be. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

it's been so damn muggy around here for the last week or so, anytime i walk out of the house i feel like i am in Florida again. and i haven't been in Florida since i was a child.
i told my mother yesterday that when we move, we're not having any pets come with us. this is their punishment for strategically placing shit all around the yard where i walk to feed the birds. and trust me, fresh cat shit and heat just don't mix well, even if it's on the bottom of an old pair of shoes.
if the World Cup is going to be anything like the first game yesterday, holy shit. Brazil survived Chile on penalty kicks. Brazil 1(3) - Chile 1(2). i thought for a few moments that my pick to win it all would blow up in my face. hell, it still might. in the other game Colombia beat Uruguay 2-0. let the James Rodriguez bidding begin. he's going to get a massive raise before too long.
today, the Netherlands take on Mexico. i'll have my eyes glued on that one given the various Manchester United connections in it. afterwards, Costa Rica plays Greece. some lucky team will be getting to the quarterfinals unexpectedly.
i have Costa Rica and Netherlands advancing today.
the Yankees lost last night 2-1. Tanaka made two mistakes and it got him a loss. sucks when that second mistake comes in the top of the 9th with 2 outs. why he would shake off the catcher to throw his third best pitch is beyond me. i also put some blame on the catcher for allowing him to do it. but, the biggest blame comes down to the offense again that looked like they were swinging a wet paper bag at the plate. the rubber game of the series is tonight on ESPN. i have no clue if i will bother with it or not.
ROH was a retrospective on Michael Elgin and his path to the title last night. a pretty good episode. i'm not that big of a fan but he has certainly paid his dues and deserves a chance to run with the ball.
i'm ok with whom the New York Rangers drafted yesterday. they traded back a few times and got more players, which is usually a good thing. most of the guys will end up being depth guys if they do make it to the NHL. now the real nail biting begins with free agency. the GM is already laying the ground work for players walking away. great.
i'm really looking forward to the Sunday night shows tonight. the season finales of Nurse Jackie and Penny Dreadful. the series finale of Californication. and another new episode of Last Week Tonight. if i find the time, i may check out the new HBO show The Leftovers. of course, i've been so damn tired here lately, i probably would be better off sleeping. not sure if i'm going to watch the next episode of Big Brother tonight or not, as i already know what's going to happen.
i got a late start this morning as i had an awful night of sleeping. even with the fan and air conditioning on, i could never get comfortable. good times.
i need to get the trash picked up and the cats fed before the games start today. and i also need to fit in breakfast and reading the paper. and of course, since it is trash day, it's supposed to storm. why am i not surprised.
that's all for me today. hope everyone is having a great weekend. or at the very least, better than mine.

there is nothing sadder than looking at yourself in the mirror after the hockey team you have lived and died with since you were a child loses in double overtime in the Stanley Cup Final. and then trying to not break down like a child when you start to shave off the playoff beard. it's more than just a punch to the gut. it's like the lord has rolled up the newspaper and is now rubbing your face in an endless pile of shit. and i still need to eat breakfast.
the Rangers lost 3-2 in 2OT to end their season. congrats to the Kings. they are a great team. why the refs thought they constantly needed help in the series is beyond me, but that's just a bitter fan talking. Henrik was great once again but when it mattered, no one could score a fucking goal. lose 3 overtime games in a series and trust me, this will haunt every member of that team if they actually give a shit. i do expect them to make some big changes in the offseason. hopefully getting rid of some of that top heavy dead weight will go a long way to getting them back to the promised land again. and i certainly don't want to go another 20 years before they make it this far again. thank you boys for a great ride. and thank you to my razors for still working after not being touched for months.
the Yankees won their 4th win in a row last night, 7-0. Phelps pitched WAY better than he has in something like EVER. and the bats are FINALLY starting to show signs of life. they play again tonight out in Oakland.
the World Cup yesterday was pretty interesting. Mexico won 1-0 in a game where they were robbed of 2 goals that should have counted. Chile won 3-1 against an Australia side that showed more fight than people thought they had. but the shocker of the day was the Netherlands DESTROYING Spain 5-1. when RVP scored the goal right around the end of the first half, i immediately thought about how wonderful this will be when he is doing it for the same coach when they are both at Manchester United in a few months. and watching how Louis van Gaal manipulated his side filled me with some hope of what he will do at United.
today there are 4 games. Colombia vs. Greece. Uruguay vs. Costa Rica. Ivory Coast vs. Japan. and the big game of the day, England vs. Italy. that will be one juicy affair.
so you know what i'll be doing for most of the day.
the cold front FINALLY got through here and the weather is damn near perfect. if i wasn't so depressed last night, i might have actually enjoyed the windows being open and it feeling as cool as it was. i should be able to open up the house for most of the weekend.
plus, i'm sure the birds will be happy now that i'll start putting food out for them again. i don't like feeding them in the rain. mostly because i'm lazy.
i didn't get to bed until 4:30 in the morning. i was up again around 8. i'm guessing that at some point in the afternoon, some boring soccer is going to help me get some more sleep. and hopefully that will allow me to be awake when ROH comes on late tonight.
did some digging on iTunes last night to find some appropriate songs for my mood. you'll see those results below.
hope everyone has a great day. be well. enjoy the World Cup. hope for better officiating. and hopefully the England vs. Italy game doesn't disappoint.
peace my enemies...
