so long to a legend...

so, this blog was going to be about the heat today, blah blah blah, and then i got the news that one of my favorite wrestlers of all time had died. Terry Funk was one of the few guys i remember seeing back in the late 70's when i was really young. to see him in ECW 20 years later wrestling with barbwire and baseball bats on fire was a fucking mindfuck to say the least. he was the constant entertainer and a way better wrestler than anyone ever gave him credit for. thanks for all the memories, rest in peace.

the Yankees lost last night at home to the Nationals, 2-1.

NXT was very good last night.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

Don't Forget the Lyrics was pretty good last night.

Hard Knocks was very good last night.

the grocery store wasn't too bad today. i'm guessing the heat was a little too much for most people. i believe the feels like temp has been around 100 all day long. good times.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother and AEW Dynamite.

i think i will watch at least some of the Inter Miami vs. FC Cincinnati game in the US Open Cup semifinals tonight.

i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i know tomorrow is supposed to be hotter than fucking hell.

like a punch to the gut...

when i got the news about the death of John Lewis last night, it was like a punch to the gut. and then to think that he and C.T. Vivian died on the same day, it was like being punched yet again. i am a huge fan of history, especially history that means something. the civil rights movement was something that was taught to us in high school with a little more urgency i believe than at other schools, since the school i was going to was mostly made up of black students. i had friends that had parents and grandparents that marched on Washington. i used to listen to those stories and listen to the speeches all the time. i'm not sure how many people in this ignorant as shit country truly understand the gravity of who died yesterday. they are probably too busy with their pride that a racist is the president of this country. my only hope is that Mr. Lewis is finding some good trouble. rest in power. likewise for Mr. Vivian.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH and Austin City Limits.

i need to do my laundry today. i was hoping to have most of it done already, but i didn't fall asleep until 5 this morning once again. it's like my body has shifted back to when i used to work third shift in my 20's.

my sister should be down here in a couple hours, so that's all for me kids.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

fight the power.

a blast from the past

i was on SoundCloud last night, just checking if i had any messages and my latest stats. i saw that one poem had been listened to recently. i checked on the stats and holy shit, it was listened to by the girlfriend i had when i was 27. i sent her a message saying thanks and she emailed me. i emailed her a couple years ago when there was a hurricane near where i thought she was living. i never got a reply, so i figured she had long forgot about me. turns out she stumbled upon that email a few days ago and took a trip down the rabbit hole and found my YouTube and SoundCloud pages. that was certainly not an email i was expecting at 1:30 in the morning. nice to know i am remembered though.

Monday Night Raw was very good last night. the 3 hours really seemed to move pretty fast. that's an excellent sign.

Celebrity Big Brother was crazy last night. Keshia begged to get evicted last night because she missed her daughter and her wish was granted. it will be interesting to see who goes next as the show is going to be over in 12 days i think. as of now, i'm rooting for Ross or Shannon to win it all.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Baskets and Hate Thy Neighbor. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Minnesota. they have had yet another injury to a defenseman. so, they had to call up another kid. i believe now 4 of their 6 men playing defense will be under the age of 24. that should be interesting tonight.

mom has physical therapy this afternoon. i'm hoping to do a little writing while i'm in the waiting room. i wonder what i could possibly be writing about today...

i figure she'll probably want to get something to eat after her therapy. so that might as well be an early dinner. then, i'll come home and get the trash done and probably start typing (if i happen to do some writing today).

she has another appointment tomorrow morning, so i'll probably be on here after that happens. good thing i made sure the gas tank was full for this week. mom has appointments the first 4 days of the week. and the day she doesn't, i'll be out doing the grocery shopping i suppose.

enough of my rambling. i need to get in the shower. enjoy the visual.

embrace the pain

there is nothing sadder than looking at yourself in the mirror after the hockey team you have lived and died with since you were a child loses in double overtime in the Stanley Cup Final. and then trying to not break down like a child when you start to shave off the playoff beard. it's more than just a punch to the gut. it's like the lord has rolled up the newspaper and is now rubbing your face in an endless pile of shit. and i still need to eat breakfast.

the Rangers lost 3-2 in 2OT to end their season. congrats to the Kings. they are a great team. why the refs thought they constantly needed help in the series is beyond me, but that's just a bitter fan talking. Henrik was great once again but when it mattered, no one could score a fucking goal. lose 3 overtime games in a series and trust me, this will haunt every member of that team if they actually give a shit. i do expect them to make some big changes in the offseason. hopefully getting rid of some of that top heavy dead weight will go a long way to getting them back to the promised land again. and i certainly don't want to go another 20 years before they make it this far again. thank you boys for a great ride. and thank you to my razors for still working after not being touched for months.

the Yankees won their 4th win in a row last night, 7-0. Phelps pitched WAY better than he has in something like EVER. and the bats are FINALLY starting to show signs of life. they play again tonight out in Oakland.

the World Cup yesterday was pretty interesting. Mexico won 1-0 in a game where they were robbed of 2 goals that should have counted. Chile won 3-1 against an Australia side that showed more fight than people thought they had. but the shocker of the day was the Netherlands DESTROYING Spain 5-1. when RVP scored the goal right around the end of the first half, i immediately thought about how wonderful this will be when he is doing it for the same coach when they are both at Manchester United in a few months. and watching how Louis van Gaal manipulated his side filled me with some hope of what he will do at United.

today there are 4 games. Colombia vs. Greece. Uruguay vs. Costa Rica. Ivory Coast vs. Japan. and the big game of the day, England vs. Italy. that will be one juicy affair.

so you know what i'll be doing for most of the day.

the cold front FINALLY got through here and the weather is damn near perfect. if i wasn't so depressed last night, i might have actually enjoyed the windows being open and it feeling as cool as it was. i should be able to open up the house for most of the weekend.

plus, i'm sure the birds will be happy now that i'll start putting food out for them again. i don't like feeding them in the rain. mostly because i'm lazy.

i didn't get to bed until 4:30 in the morning. i was up again around 8. i'm guessing that at some point in the afternoon, some boring soccer is going to help me get some more sleep. and hopefully that will allow me to be awake when ROH comes on late tonight.

did some digging on iTunes last night to find some appropriate songs for my mood. you'll see those results below.

hope everyone has a great day. be well. enjoy the World Cup. hope for better officiating. and hopefully the England vs. Italy game doesn't disappoint.

peace my enemies...
