2 days in a row without rain, what a shock...

when i walked out to get the mail today, it actually felt like late May. it's almost summer. joy. sunburns and ill fitting clothes. good times.

WWE Extreme Rules was great last night. 2 of the matches, Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles and the Intercontinental Title match will surely be on the final list for matches of the year. they were both spectacular. plus, last night saw the return of Seth Rollins. when he destroyed Roman Reigns at the end of the show, i was so fucking happy. should make for an interesting Monday Night Raw tonight.

the New York Yankees won yesterday, 5-4, to complete the 4 game sweep of the Oakland A's. that's 5 wins in a row. that also gets them just 1 game under .500. they are off tonight and start a series with Toronto tomorrow night.

team USA defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 in a soccer friendly yesterday. the field was horrible and the USA played down to their competition. they will have to be much better to do anything in the upcoming Copa America.

House of Lies was pretty damn funny last night. made me miss my days of smoking pot. Veep was great. Silicon Valley was very funny. Penny Dreadful was absolutely wonderful last night. the acting in that episode should win awards for everyone. and finally, Last Week Tonight was great as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be part 1 of the season finale of The Voice and the season finale of Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw and then Mick Foley's interview with Shane McMahon on WWE Network.

i did listen to the latest Sam & Cathy podcast this afternoon. excellent as always.
you can listen to it by going here: http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/5/23/sam-cathy-012-win-or-play-well

so i woke up this morning to the news that Louis van Gaal had been sacked by Manchester United. late this afternoon, the club finally confirmed it. talk about a poorly held secret. i'm not a big fan of the way the Dutch play the sport, so my falling out of love with LVG's tactics was not surprising. i'm not sure what to think yet if Jose Mourinho is truly the best choice to be the next manager. i can't argue with the results, but i don't want to watch a team park the bus every game. of course, win the league, win the Champions League, FA Cup, etc. and i'll simply live with it while rejoicing. thankfully, LVG did win the FA Cup before departing, and seeing that it had been 12 years since Manchester United had won it, he'll always be remembered for bringing it back home. all in all, this should be a very interesting summer. especially when i saw today the rumor that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is going to be the first player Jose signs for the club. holy shit.

my uncle came over for a little bit yesterday. it's good to see him out and about, although he still has a hard time walking. it was the first time he had been over to the house in months. he's in remission and doing better. his goal was to make it to the summer. it'll be interesting to see how far he goes after that.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

embrace the pain

there is nothing sadder than looking at yourself in the mirror after the hockey team you have lived and died with since you were a child loses in double overtime in the Stanley Cup Final. and then trying to not break down like a child when you start to shave off the playoff beard. it's more than just a punch to the gut. it's like the lord has rolled up the newspaper and is now rubbing your face in an endless pile of shit. and i still need to eat breakfast.

the Rangers lost 3-2 in 2OT to end their season. congrats to the Kings. they are a great team. why the refs thought they constantly needed help in the series is beyond me, but that's just a bitter fan talking. Henrik was great once again but when it mattered, no one could score a fucking goal. lose 3 overtime games in a series and trust me, this will haunt every member of that team if they actually give a shit. i do expect them to make some big changes in the offseason. hopefully getting rid of some of that top heavy dead weight will go a long way to getting them back to the promised land again. and i certainly don't want to go another 20 years before they make it this far again. thank you boys for a great ride. and thank you to my razors for still working after not being touched for months.

the Yankees won their 4th win in a row last night, 7-0. Phelps pitched WAY better than he has in something like EVER. and the bats are FINALLY starting to show signs of life. they play again tonight out in Oakland.

the World Cup yesterday was pretty interesting. Mexico won 1-0 in a game where they were robbed of 2 goals that should have counted. Chile won 3-1 against an Australia side that showed more fight than people thought they had. but the shocker of the day was the Netherlands DESTROYING Spain 5-1. when RVP scored the goal right around the end of the first half, i immediately thought about how wonderful this will be when he is doing it for the same coach when they are both at Manchester United in a few months. and watching how Louis van Gaal manipulated his side filled me with some hope of what he will do at United.

today there are 4 games. Colombia vs. Greece. Uruguay vs. Costa Rica. Ivory Coast vs. Japan. and the big game of the day, England vs. Italy. that will be one juicy affair.

so you know what i'll be doing for most of the day.

the cold front FINALLY got through here and the weather is damn near perfect. if i wasn't so depressed last night, i might have actually enjoyed the windows being open and it feeling as cool as it was. i should be able to open up the house for most of the weekend.

plus, i'm sure the birds will be happy now that i'll start putting food out for them again. i don't like feeding them in the rain. mostly because i'm lazy.

i didn't get to bed until 4:30 in the morning. i was up again around 8. i'm guessing that at some point in the afternoon, some boring soccer is going to help me get some more sleep. and hopefully that will allow me to be awake when ROH comes on late tonight.

did some digging on iTunes last night to find some appropriate songs for my mood. you'll see those results below.

hope everyone has a great day. be well. enjoy the World Cup. hope for better officiating. and hopefully the England vs. Italy game doesn't disappoint.

peace my enemies...

where do the hours go

i'm currently running on about 3 hours of sleep. needless to say, i will be a little extra cranky while watching the New York Rangers tonight.

let's go back to yesterday shall we...

the New York Yankees split a doubleheader, winning game 1 and giving away game 2. they won the series and are in first place, so i guess it's ok. they are off tonight and start a series in Chicago tomorrow.

i somehow made it through all the Sunday night shows, even though it took me forever. Total Divas was good, but scripted beyond belief last night. Nurse Jackie was good once again. Californication really had me laughing last night. Penny Dreadful had a HOLY SHIT ending. easily, the best show on tv right now. Last Week Tonight was brilliant. as for Silicon Valley and Veep, i enjoyed both of them. but, i was so damn tired, i have no idea if i was laughing because it was funny or i was delirious.

on to today...

Manchester United officially hired Louis van Gaal as manager today. he takes over once he is done coaching the Netherlands in the World Cup. he is a no non-sense kind of guy, so it will be interesting. Ryan Giggs was appointed his number 2, so that means the end of his playing career. but, hopefully in 3 years he is taking over the club for the next 20 or so. this will certainly make for an interesting silly season with all the rumors.

the New York Rangers play Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals tonight. Montreal announced that their starting goalie is out for the rest of the series. hopefully the Rangers take advantage of this HUGE opportunity. i expect tonight to be a nasty game as i'm sure Montreal will want some revenge for their goalie being injured (on an accidental play mind you). as long as the Rangers win and no one gets injured, i couldn't care what kind of game it is.

also tonight (all at the same time) are The Voice, Monday Night Raw, and Louie. hopefully the hockey ends at a decent time so i get to watch some of the other shows. looks like a night i'll be spending on YouTube.

i happened to do a little writing today. penned 5 poems in a little over 30 minutes today. so, with the one i wrote over the weekend, i typed up 6 poems this afternoon. i think i have a few winners in the batch.

a big thank you to everyone with their comments and reaction to my poem "all the damn yesterdays". i really appreciate it.

after feeding the animals today, i had to spray for insects in the cellar and around the house. that's always fun in a strong ass breeze. thankfully i didn't get any on me.

that's all for today kids. i need to get some dinner and get my mind in the right place for the game tonight. hope everyone had a great weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow sometime.
